A fab continuation of a brilliant ya dystopian series. I really enjoyed this! It brings past dystopian favourites and fuses it with new and thrilling concepts. Definitely a great read and I’m super excited to read the next instalment.

Thank you to the publishers and netgalley for my e-arc copy

At the start of the book I was not sure I would love it as much as the first. Eve has so much self-loathing. However, she really transforms herself back into the strong courageous female we know her to be. Plus, there is so much downward spiraling in this installment. I honestly was not sure when they would hit rock bottom. When they do though, the book definitely goes BANG.

With Wren, I fell for him even more in this installment. He’s everything a strong man with power should be. And, I love how he constantly uses his status for good. Of course the whole friends cast is still there and I adored seeing Hunter, Emerald, and Maggie again.

That ending!!! I was so worried for our main cast at every thrilling final turn and then bam! Cliffhanger… but, in an exciting way. I cannot wait for the third installment. I am sure we are in for one HECK of a ride and I cannot wait to go on it.

"Unraveling Eleven" was exciting, but I was very disappointed for the main character at the beginning of the book. I truly felt her frustration and understood her random yet dangerous decision making as the story unfolds. I cannot wait to find out what will happen within and outside of Compound Eleven in the final book!

This series feels like the vibe of all the great dystopian books that got me into YA reading in the first place. I really loved the concept and the characters in the first book so I was looking forward to reading this one as well. And while I enjoyed the first I am going to say this second book just didn't have the same enjoyment for me. I feel like it was just a time and place thing perhaps. The direction that this went was not what I was expecting and while I enjoyed the romance in the first, it took an interesting turn in this one and it will be interesting to see where this book heads next. This definitely feels like a second book that preps the reader more for the third.

Unraveling Eleven takes a bit of a turn from the first book. At first I didn't like the way Eve had changed, but it made more and more sense. After breathing fresh air I could not imagine how awful it was to go back underground. I think Wren was being unnecessarily cryptic about a lot of stuff which was just adding to their issues. There were definitely parts I didn't see coming. I'm interested to see where the story ends in the third book. Also Eve is a much better person than me with what she sacrifices at the end. For me, this was a 4/5.

If you like cryptic governments, rebels fighting for freedom, or fighting for you life, this is the one for you.

I received a digital copy of this book free from Entangled Publishing and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed the first book of the series, Escaping Eleven, so naturally I was excited for this sequel. Happy to report that it fully delivered, and I am even more excited for the finale! I think that overall, this is a more solid offering than the first, and I loved the direction the author went with both the story and the characters.

I will address my only minor negative up front, and that is that I was really questioning some of the choices the characters made in the beginning. Like to the point where I couldn't quite understand their choice(s). However, once I got past this hiccup, it was awesome sailing, and I completely devoured the rest of the story.

The stakes are higher, the characters' development and growth continues to be fabulous, and it is exciting throughout. Even in quieter, more character-driven moments, the undertone of the precarious situation is always present. There are tons of impossible choices and gray morality, which I always adore. There are a lot of new facets to the world-building that are established in this book as well. Plus, the author includes tons of great twists to keep the reader constantly engaged.

Bottom Line: A fabulous installment in a series that has engaged and entertained me since the start.

This book was a bit slower than the first one, but it was still really good. I did struggle with it a little more than I expected to, but I think it was mostly because Eve struggled with her sense of self for so long. It made me a bit uncomfortable to go on such a personal and violent journey like that with her. I understood it though, because obviously she was raised as a fighter so her nature would just be to knock anyone out, but the constant anger was rough for awhile.

Overall though, I did really enjoy the book and the end made me so nervous. I could not sit still while reading it, I felt partially numb, partially tingly the whole time. And I’m SO mad it ended on that cliffhanger, how am I supposed to wait for the next book?!

I was very excited to read this after the first book, but have to say I was a little disappointed. I thought that the second book would expand a little more on the universe and be something different, but it was too, too similar to previous dystopian fiction stories like Divergent and Hunger Games. There are some stories that are familiar and you want to sink into them, but this one was just nothing new at all.
The setting in the Eleven Trilogy is a dystopian world where people have been living in underground facilities due to the surface of the earth not being inhabitable.

Unraveling Eleven by Jerri Chisholm is the second book in the young adult science fiction fantasy, Eleven Trilogy. As with most fantasy reads this series is best read in order beginning with the first book of the trilogy, Escaping Eleven, as the story in this second book picks up right after the ending of the first book continuing the plot.

The setting in the Eleven Trilogy is a dystopian world where people have been living in underground facilities due to the surface of the earth not being inhabitable. The world building in this new series is built like others out there such as The Hunger Games in which the wealthy are controlling those not as well off as them. The people are sorted in the underground facilities by the fact the poorer you are the lower the level you live.

Eve Hamilton lives in compound eleven in one of the lower floors where she fights for survival. Walking into the ring one day she finds that her opponent is a boy from one of the upper levels with whom she can’t quite forget about after the match. After the match Wren begins showing up in Eve’s life and she wonders if he could be her ticket to a way out of the compound and the two work together to find their way out of Eleven.

When picking up the first book of this series it did give me those vibes of the earlier mentioned Hunger Games and also Divergent when the main character is involved in fighting matches. That said however the story does take on it’s own identity as it moved onward and I became engaged in the characters and their situation. After a cliffhanger ending in the first book I was excited to finally see where the story would head and it did continue to entertain me in book two. Again the plot is left up in the air after this second book leaving me waiting for the next part of the story which I look forward to reading in the future.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

This series is amazing!!!! I can’t wait for book three! This book leaves us on an evil cliffhanger!! Picks up right where book one left off. Hopefully book three does too. Wren and Eve face more truths and dangers then they ever did in book one. As they dig deeper the more they find out. I very highly recommend this series. It’s amazing. So different than other ya dystopian I’ve read. Highly recommend!

Thank you to Netgalley, Entangled Teen and the author, Jerri Chisholm, for providing a copy of Unravelling Eleven (Eleven Trilogy book 2). I have reviewed honestly.

Unravelling Eleven features, but is not limited to, the following themes:
○ Dystopian
○ Young Adult
○ Light romance
○ Enemies to lovers
○ Underground community
○ Kickass FMC
○ Rebellion

My overall rating for Unravelling Eleven is…

5 Stars!

I thought Escaping Eleven was exciting, but it had nothing on the exhilarating, heart racing and darker sequel, Unravelling Eleven. The character development in book 2 was brutal, raw and honest. I loved the darker shade of Eves emotions in this one, but more importantly, how she learns to overcome her inner demons. The tale took me on so many unexpected turns with an ending that completely derailed me. I am so in awe over this tale and the authors incredible ability to create such a beautiful, brutal world. The wait for book 3 is going to be unbearable.

This book is more compelling to read than the first one for me. It follows where the first book has ended. The books' theme mainly describes the main issues happening in compound eleven and aboveground. The lies and deceits of the all-powerful people at the top unfolded made this dystopian-themed story more engaging to read. The main characters went through a lot in this book that made them resilient and their relationship stronger.

This story is timely and mind awakening that will surely appeal to younger audiences. Overall this was a delightful and exciting read for me. I can't wait to read Eve and Wren's next adventure.

I'm grateful to the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for allowing me to read and review a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Eve and Wren are ecstatic that they’re free and the sun isn’t scorching like they’ve been told all of their lives. They walk for an hour in happy silence before Wren hears something in the trees. An animal attacks and they fight for their lives. Soon they realize they have no sustenance. They decide to return to the compound and figure out a way to survive on the surface and to return later. Wren and Eve try to settle back into life in Eleven and move forward with jobs while everything around them seems tumultuous, including their relationship. I had thought this was a duology but realized while reading that it wasn’t going to end with this book. Action and danger follow Wren and Eve until they’re in peril. Action packed dystopian, 4 stars!

Thank you NetGalley for sending this arc for an honest review!

After reading the previous book I expected nothing less from this one. The adventure proceeds in this dystopian novel where people are fighting for their lives from the monsters inside. If your a fan of the hunger games and divergent this story is exactly what your looking for. The charcater development, romance, the plot- all spectacular in this astounding world

“Escaping Eleven”, the first book in The Eleven Trilogy, ended in the ever-dreaded cliffhanger, but a hopeful one. This book, “Unraveling Eleven”, picks up immediately after the events of “Escaping Eleven”. For spoilers sake, I’ll leave the opening of this book at that.

But if you think our protagonists, Eve and Wren, stay aboveground--for whatever reason--they don’t. They do end up going back underground to Compound Eleven for their own reasons. Again… spoilers.

This novel isn’t as fraught with tension or as tightly wound as “Escaping Eleven”, mainly because there are less fight scenes and more espionage and sneaking around, along with a lot of down time for our main characters for various reasons. We get to know some supporting characters a bit better, get to know the compound a bit better, and get to meet some new characters in new surroundings, too.

What’s nice is we get to see and learn about new sides of both Wren and Eve that we weren’t wholly privy to in “Escaping Eleven”. And we get to see these characters discover different sides of themselves they didn’t know existed before, either.

All in all, it was a worthy second book in a trilogy. Some middle books have a slump. This one didn’t.

This is the second book, please read the previous one as this continues. I love this dystopian story, it reminds me of some good ones I enjoyed before like Divergent. The pacing is a bit slow for my liking, especially for this genre, but really enjoy the story. The characters are quite interesting and the world-building is fantastic.

After finishing Escaping Eleven, I had to pick up the sequel straight away. Unraveling Eleven begins exactly where the first book ends and I was immediately drawn into the story. Wren and Eve are above ground for the first time ever, and they quickly realise that the ground is survivable. Unfortunately for Eve and her dream of being free, she and Wren have to turn back to Compound Eleven as they don’t have enough supplies to eat and drink. Wren also wishes to help free the rest of the Compound and enlighten them about the situation above ground. When they return to the Compound, they have to choose their jobs, and Eve decides to apply for a guard job in order to collect supplies for when she plans to return to the outside.

‘It feels safe here next to Wren – it feels like home.’

This sequel really hooked me into the story and I was rooting for the characters to sort out their problems! Wren and Eve have a very back and forth relationship in this book. They’re both trying to do what they think is best but seem to miscommunicate about the best way collectively. Eve becomesvery obsessed with the idea of freedom and leaving the compound, which seems to come into conflict with her feelings for Wren and her other friends. There were moments when I couldn’t stand her character but she developed and grew so well over the course of the novel. These characters had a lot to work through but I think it all came together in the end, and they learn more about one another as time goes on.

‘But that grief – that heartache – it makes you who you are today. Someone with heart. Someone strong. Someone determined to survive.’

More of the world outside is explored in this novel, and I’m so intrigued to see what’s going to be revealed in the next book! There is a cliffhanger ending, but I was hooked all the way and need to know what’s going to happen next! There were moments when I felt the story lagged but these were made up for with the action chapters that had me gripped to the pages. I definitely recommend this for fans of YA dystopia!

I loved, really loved, the first book of the series! I expected so much from this book. And in so many ways this book delivered, but it feels like standard second book of the series, something I would normally give three stars. But this is worth of four stars, because of great writing and Eve's struggles.

I liked how Eve felt she had lost of herself and had to do some serious thinking with herself regarding her actions, behavior and beliefs.

The relationship between Eve and Wren is well written and feels real, like something that I can see happening.

This book made me go back in early 2010's when YA dystopian used to be all I read. I felt nostalgic. Can't wait to read the next book!

This book was out on 16/11 and now I can't wait for the final book in the series. The author has me totally invested in this and I can't stop thinking what is going to happen next, not with the cliffhanger this book has. The ending, wow!

Picking up right after where the first book left, Eve and Wren are to uncover the secrets but that needs plan and lot of inside information. Compound Eleven is hiding something big that goes deeper. This book is intriguing and the outside Eleven parts were just something that was needed. The character development of Eve is nicely written as she goes through a lot. This book has her learning lot many issues relating to herself, the right or wrong, determination but it still hurt to see her so brutal, rash though it was all because of consequences and her low point. This book also had them figuring out their relationship as even that takes us through lot of emotions.

The pacing is slow but the story is amazing. Again a brutal, intense read with strong friendships and making more friends along the way. I enjoy the author's writing style, it is easy and captivating. Okay, I will stop here before giving away too much as this series is meant to be read and I highly recommend it. I need the last book soon, please.

Thanks to the publisher, the author and Netgalley for the eARC :)

I read the books one after another and though it did sustain the momentum of the first one, I just think that it could have gone better. The sequel often suffers from letdowns and this is, sadly another one of those. It was still interesting and really had me going because it started right where the last book ended. The dystopian feels of yesteryears are definitely present, but in my opinion, I think I have outgrown it.
