I found this book easy to read, the pace of the book picked up and by the end I was invested in the storyline.

I loved the twists and turns and how I changed my mind on numerous occasions on the ending of the book, only to be left gobsmacked at the twist which unfolded.

The perfect thriller to make you question do you ever really know anyone.? Even those close to you. Certainly recommend this fantastic book.

A quick, creepy thriller that keeps you guessing! The New Wife was very atmospheric which definitely added to the creepiness for me! I thought I had everything figured out. Then I thought I was disappointed. Then I realized I had no idea what was actually happening. It was a true roller coaster of emotions in the best way. Sprinkle in a little creepiness and this is the perfect fall thriller!

Enjoyed this domestic drama very much. Great characters that were easy to get to know.. not necessarily get to like though! Lots of twists and turns that I really did not see coming.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book

Thank you Netgalley and Bookoture for the early copy if this one.
Unfortunately I had to DNF this. It was to slow for me and I could not get into the story at all.

Do you ever REALLY know your friends or family?

A very readable, well written and intriguing book full of misdirection, lies and suspense, the pace does slow at times but there is a sinister undercurrent which kept me turning the pages long after I should have been sleeping! - How far would you go to protect the things and people most valuable to you?

A solid 4 star read - many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for the advanced copy to read and give an honest review of this book.

I think this is my favourite Sue Watson book so far… Really enjoyable!
A quick, well written read that keeps you guessing throughout. There’s lots of twists and turns that leave you suspicious of all the characters and the very last revelation is brilliant, it finishes the book perfectly.
Great book!

I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Ahh, so much twists and turns, are anyone who they seem like they are? No matter how close you are to someone, do you really know what's going on with their lives?

Very fast paced book that kept me on my toes, I enjoyed reading this book a lot.

Childhood sweethearts a perfect happy ever after until tragedy strikes!

I had many theories and suspects in this one but the herrings kept on coming and the conclusion didn't disappoint.

A suspenseful read full of secrets, suspicion, lies and twist and turns aplenty!

Sam and Lauren had been married for only three months when Lauren was found dead. Initially thought of as an accident, the police suspect foul play and classify the case as murder.

This was my first in the very popular genre of psychological thriller. Overall, I enjoyed the book. Initially, I thought that it was a bit slow but it caught on in pace in the later parts. The characters were unlikable but very readable. The first person POV was a bit jarring at first but I seemed to not mind it once I got into the book.

It is to the credit of the author that even unlikable characters could carry the story forward. I look forward to reading more stories from her.

I received a free copy of this novel from NetGalley. This doesn't impact my opinion in any way.

The New Wife by Sue Watson

The New Wife is my favorite book of the week! After looking at Sue Watson’s website, I see several other books that I hope to read and review! I totally could not put The New Wife down, and you won’t be able to either!

Here’s a quick overview of The New Wife.
A newly married couple buys a home in a remote area. They’ve known each other since pre-school, and the families always knew they’d get married. They are finally truly one big happy family!
Sam and Lauren like their new home a lot, especially the gorgeous staircase, but Lauren does get a little worried at night, home alone, when it is so dark outside, and if Sam isn’t home from work yet.

The couple hosts an outdoor family dinner at their new home, and everyone seems a little “off.” Is it because of the date that Sam’s mom, Georgie, brought with her? James was an old friend of all of them, and she didn’t think it would be an issue, but something strange was going on. Later in the evening, some things get said around the fire pit that Georgie didn’t know about before the wedding.

A short time after this, Georgie gets a middle-of-the-night phone call from her son, Sam.
Lauren is dead.
Then, even worse news comes. The police suspect foul play.
Then, news Sam did not expect is revealed.

Aaggghhhh! Sounds fantastic, right? You have to read it! I was given a copy to read and review and I’m so excited to have had an early viewing!

The characters weren't necessarily likeable but the story was interesting and well written. Will definitely be checking out more books by this author on Kindle

Georgie and her best friend, Helen, are thrilled when their son, Sam, and daughter, Lauren, marry. However, when Lauren turns up murdered a few months later, their worlds are shattered. Georgie doesn’t believe Sam could have killed her, but Helen is sure he is the guilty party. This who-dun-it will keep you guessing all the way through. I could not put it down and I never saw the ending coming!

Thank you #Netgalley for the advanced copy!

Georgie, the mother of Sam, is the narrator of this story. Sam married his childhood best friend Lauren a few months ago, when suddenly Georgie is awoken in the middle of the night by her upset son saying Lauren was dead. From then on, Georgie provides flashbacks of the days, events, leading up to that dreadful night. Then she must put the pieces together to help keep her own son out of jail for the murder of his wife. To make things more complicated, Georgie, a single mother, is best friends with her daughter in laws family and parents. They all grew up together as one large happy extended family, with the addition of Lauren's best friend. Georgie always thought they had the perfect family, little did she know what would eventually come out. You will be guessing up until the very end as to who is responsible for Lauren's death. I did not expect that ending!

It was an interesting book but it didn't work out for me like the way I expected..
None of the characters are likable and the pace was extremely slow and the way the drama has dragged out, I felt I was watching some telenovela series in the Philippines.
For me, it shouldn't be tagged as a thriller. There was twist after twist and the revelations seemed so grand but still have a little impact. It was exhausting really. I thought the ending was nice though.

Such a great read that kept my attention right from the beginning, it’s full of the twists that the author is so good at and honestly I had no idea of what the ending was going to be and I had everyone in mind except for the real culprit. Definitely a five star read.

"The New Wife", by Sue Watson was an excellent thriller, The narrator of this book is the mother of the husband of "the new wife". She is found by him, at the bottom of the stairs after having fallen in their isolated home. Her parents, her husband, her mother-in-law, sister, and best friend are all devastated. Why and how did what at first glance seemed to be an accident, end up a murder? Who would want to kill this new wife and new doctor? Nothing is as it seems in this book. It takes a while to unfold totally but the author gives the reader's a few hints as to who (and it ends up several have motives) might have done the evil deed. I liked this book. The plot is full of twists and turns, deep interesting characters, and an intriguing house where the wife dies. The story continues to twist until the very last paragraph. Thriller readers will love "The New Wife". Thanks to #TheNewWife#NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I love Sue’s thrillers and always devour them so I was so excited to read this one and binged it in one day.

I love the premise here. Childhood friends Lauren and Sam are finally getting married and both families are excited! They can finally become real family.

Georgie (Sam’s Mother) and Helen and Time (Lauren’s parents) are shocked when only three months after their wedding, Lauren is found dead in their new home.
Georgie just knows Sam is innocent and must do whatever she has to to protect him!

I never saw the twist coming here and was totally surprised. This one started out strong for me and keep me interested the entire time.

I really enjoyed it. Sue did it again!

Sue Watson was NOT messing around with this book. I was gripped from the opening scene all the way until the shocking end.

Georgie's son Sam is marrying his childhood sweetheart Lauren. The chapters detailing when they first met at daycare were sweet and nostalgic; those scenes would become a horrific juxtaposition to the scenes involving Lauren's violent death just three months after her marriage to Sam.

Lauren's parents Tim and Helen are rightly devastated, but Helen begins to distance herself from Georgie. Soon after, what was assumed to be an accidental death is now being investigated as a murder. Lauren's broken, twisted body lying at the bottom of their spiral staircase didn't get there from a fall--blood spatter shows she was pushed. When Sam is arrested for her murder, the plot swiftly goes in so many different directions, my head was spinning.

The red herrings were enjoyable and difficult to deduce, and Watson manages one last twist in the epilogue that had me reeling. Thank you so much Bookouture and NetGalley for this e-ARC that publishes on November 19, 2021!
