A read full of adventure with some romance thrown in. Raelyn knows that Kody is different and that he is the answer that she has been looking for. He knows things and she hopes that he can help her find out what happened to her mother. But Kody knows that going against the rules will have a bad effect on his career but he knows that he has to help Raelyn now. But the adventure isn't going to be easy as they both have so much to lose so will it be worth it in the end. A good read that kept me turning the pages. I was lucky enough to receive a copy via Netgalley & the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

I really didn’t like this book. Deep inside, there’s an interesting story, but unfortunately it was overshadowed by annoying and unrealistic characters, odd dialogue, and a writing style that didn’t jive with me at all.

The characters read both older and younger than they are, depending on the chapter. I found it really jarring. It’s written in dual perspective, third person, but with lots of thoughts interjected in first person. It just read really oddly and kept me very disconnected from the story.

Like I said, there’s a plot in here that had potential, but I just can’t say I’d recommend this one. I feel terrible writing a bad review as I know the author put a lot of time and effort into this novel, but it just wasn’t for me.

I received this book from NetGalley and asked to give my honest review.

For a debut novel it had a lot of potential. While the story did hold my attention, I found some holes in the plot that bugged me a bit. I won’t give away any spoilers, but mid story one minute we were getting ready to travel and the next we were at prom. It also felt a little far fetched in places and I think character development could have been a little stronger, especially for the father. I still don’t know what he really knew. But maybe that will all come to light in the sequel.

Like I said I did enjoy the story very much and I see a lot of potential. Also it’s possible that I had an unpolished version. So I give it 3.5 stars and I look forward to growth in the sequel.
