Debbie Mason truly wove her magic when she wrote this book.  I liked that there was romance, heartache, secrets, suspense, and humor to keep me quickly turning the pages.  I also enjoyed Ellie and Nate.  There were so many times they made me laugh although Nate sometimes made me mad.  I have liked all of the books in the series but I think this one is my new favorite.  I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

The Inn on Mirror Lake is a charming, fun, romantic read with a small hint of suspense/mystery.

Nate and Ellie had a great connection even though Nate is sure he's not good enough for her. There's a bit of push and pull as they find their way, but it didn't feel over the top or unnecessary. There was quite a bit happening around them it was understandable that there was some hesitancy.

I loved getting to see other characters and couples from the series. It's nice to catch up on what they are doing, too. The story left some hints as to what is to come with the next book and I am looking forward to reading it.

The Inn on Mirror Lake is a wonderful addition to the heartwarming Highland Falls series. I'm in awe of how there can be suspense and some pretty serious things happening at times, yet the humor and love seem to really shine through and leave you with that warm feel-good feeling after reading. I have a soft spot for Nate and I love how Ellie gets through his tough exterior and around the walls he's built up around his heart. I hope to see more of him in the future books. Maybe he can even get a smile out of baby Michaela! Ellie was not my favorite female lead from this series, but I feel like she was a good fit for Nate so I'm still on board with this ship lol. I'm definitely looking forward to more in this series. When I see Debbie Mason's name on a book I know I must read it!

The Inn on Mirror Lake is another great addition to this series. I love the small town of Highland Falls and enjoyed Ellie and Nate's story. I can't wait to read Cal and Bri's story next.

Debbie Masons Highland Falls series has become one of my favorite’s and this one doesn’t disappoint! The characters are always so unique and fun, and Elliana and Nate are no exceptions. Elliana has returned to Highland Falls to run her family’s Inn, and (hopefully) keep the place she loves in the family. She is not quite sure why, but her mother is set on selling it. Nick is in law enforcement and taking a break that was forced upon him, and he also becomes tasked with trying to help with his former partner’s surly teenage son.

The quirky town of Highland Falls and its residents made me laugh time and again, and I loved the interactions between Nick and Elliana. Pick this one up, it does not disappoint!

I received an ARC of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you NetGalley, Debbie Mason and Forever for the copy of The Inn on Mirror Lake. This is my personal review.
The Inn on Mirror Lake by Debbie Mason is the fourth book in the contemporary romance Highland Falls series.
Ellie loves the Inn her grandfather owns and much as she loves her grandfather. The Inn for her holds wonderful memories. Her Mother is insisting the inn needs to be sold but Ellie will do everything she can to not let that happen. She knows the fight with the family will not be one that she really wants to have but will do anything to keep the Inn.
Highland Falls is in the running for the Most Romantic Small Town in America and Ellie knows that they town can win, and she is going to do updates at the Inn to draw attention to the Inn and the town.
The story has so many twists, turns, heart stopping moments, laughter, love, and family.
Nate and Ellie are drawn to each other, but Nate is sticking to his ways and does not want to get into a relationship.
I love the chemistry between Nate and Ellie. My emotions were all over the place as I was reading.

The Inn on Mirror Lake
Debbie Mason
February 22, 2022

Ellie MacLeod chose to leave her job in New York and come home to Highland Falls in North Carolina. She was the only single sibling in her family and Grandpa Joe was still recovering from a stroke and he was adamant that the Mirror Lake Inn would not be closed. Running the inn was a life for him and his wife. Before she died he made promises to her and the family that it would continue. When Ellie returned she knew that it would require renovation. She felt she hoped she could run her business part time over the internet and keep the inn alive.
Along with these goals, neighbors and family hoped that she would go all out to enter The Most Romantic Small Town in America contest. It would require more work and help from everyone she could persuade. Deadlines were due soon. As if all these conundrums were not enough, Her old beau, Nate Black, came home after a long undercover stint for the Feds. Ellie had anticipated he would be gone, one less discomfort to deal with.
Ms. Mason’s latest Highland Falls adventure is fun and family. There are problems to work out but the usual series characters are present to support Elliana. The Inn on Mirror Lake by Debbie Mason was published by Hachette Book Group on February 22, 2022. I appreciate their allowing me to read and review this novel via NetGalley. It was a delight to read. Those who have followed the Highland Falls series should be thrilled with this latest escapade. As it is the first book of the series for me to read, it took me perusing a few chapters to acquaint myself. By its conclusion I found myself laughing and cruising with the McLeod clan. This is a good pick, enjoy!

The Inn on Mirror Lake by Ontario author Debbie Mason fits the local author prompt from a reading challenge Im participating in so the timing was perfect. It was an easy sweet read. I actually think I enjoyed this title even more as a continuation of the series. Ellie is wonderful and I love how much she cares for those around her - and how much they care for her in return. The romance is a bonus in these quirky small towns.

Ellie is doing her best to keep her grandfather's Inn open and running. It doesn't help that watching over her grandpa is a job all in itself. Her mom wants to sell the place and Ellie wants to make sure that never happens. Highland Falls is in the running for becoming the Most Romantic Small Town in America and Ellie hopes to help the town win this award making it a desirable location to tourists which would bring in money. When guest Nathan Black offers to help do some work on the Inn to get ready for the contest she wants to say no but can't, she needs all the help she can get. While working with the man Ellie can't help but start to fall for him, but Nathan has made it clear that he wants nothing more than friendship. She doesn't know if there is anything she can do to get Nathan to see that they belong together. Follow along in this romantic read and see if Ellie can save the Inn, make her mother see the light, and get Nathan to open his heart.

The Inn on Mirror Lake is the fourth A Highland Falls Novel. I did not know when I picked up the book that it was part of a series. I quickly discovered that it is best to read A Highland Falls series in order. It was like I came into a movie halfway through it. I felt that I was missing key details. I discovered that Nate and Ellie were introduced in Falling in Love on Willow Creek (Book Three). Characters from the previous books are in this story along with Ellie and Nate’s family members and residents of the town. The author created some great characters. I just love Grandpa Joe, the Judge, and Ryder. Ellie has a special ability which added another dimension to the story. I enjoyed the setting of Highland Falls and the inn at the lake. It sounded like such a peaceful place. The Inn on Mirror Lake is a complex book with varying layers. I loved the humor in the story. The scenes with Ellie and Nate with his sisters are especially amusing. Grandpa Joe and the Judge’s antics also had me chuckling. There is plenty of flirtation and sizzle between Nate and Ellie. The chemistry between the pair is palpable. There are intimate thoughts and scenes in the book. I do want to mention the significant amount of foul language (which I find offensive). I like how the townspeople help Ellie with the Mirror Lake Inn. The various characters from the first three books appear throughout the story. They are worked seamlessly into this tale. There are some serious moments as well. Ellie’s sister, Brianna has an abusive husband. I thought the author handled this delicate subject very well. Ryder is dealing with the loss of his father. He needs guidance, love, and man’s best friend. The ending is charming and will leave readers smiling. The Inn on Mirror Lake is a cute romantic tale with a cigar loving grandpa, meddling matchmakers, a shocking secret, a vigilant judge, protective pooch, a brutal brother-in-law, a frustrating filmmaker, and flirtatious friends.

While this is the 4th book in the series, it can absolutely be read as a standalone.

Another great addition to the Highland Falls series!! If you love small-town romances with meddling family members & townsfolk and just a touch of mystery then you will enjoy Ellie and Nate's story.

Ellie has moved back to Highland Falls to help her grandfather update the family inn and help fight the rest of the family from selling it out from under him. Nate is in law enforcement and doesn't stay in one place for very long and is NOT the relationship type. He was meant to be back in Highland Falls for just a few days but gets asked to help with the son of a friend/former co-worker killed in action and they will be staying at Ellie's inn. Pretty soon the brewing attraction between Ellie and Nate hits a boiling point and they decide to go for it, making a deal that when Nate's time in town comes to and end, so will their realationship. We all know how that works out, right?

The fourth installment in the Highland Falls series by Debbie mason is a delightful addition to the small town she has created for us fans. Ellie and Nate are wonderful characters that I enjoyed getting to know. Ellie's gift was interesting to read about, and the fact that it didn't work on Nate was what carried these characters along in the story. The inn that Ellie is trying to save with Grampa Joe was the perfect backdrop for the secrets and mystery that unfolds slowly to the end of the story. You are able to read this book as a standalone story even if you haven't read the previous books.

Debbie Mason has a way of weaving a story that draws you in to the magical world with these characters. The town she has created is very interesting for the reader. This story in particular with the mystery surrounding Ellie's mom and the inn. Having the perfect helper in Nate and reading how the love blossoms between them was so heartwarming. I couldn't put this book down.

I highly recommend this wonderful story. I hope this series continues, and we get to enjoy more Debbie mason and from Highland Falls..

Ellie is trying to keep it all together as she tries to save her Grandpa Joe’s Inn. The Inn is in financial trouble and Ellie is working hard to impress and convince her family that it should not be sold. When Nate rides into town on the heels of Granny MacLeod, Ellie is now in more trouble than ever. When Ellie’s family arrives, things start to take a turn for the worst, and she is now in a predicament with Nate that Granny cooks up. Before it’s too late, maybe the townsfolk and Nate can help her save her family and the Inn.

The novel was so heartwarming, humorous, fun and yet had a serious element to it. I loved the characters and the antics of the grandparents. As the romance blossoms between Ellie and Nate, we also see them having to deal with some intricate family issues. The story is light yet had some much depth and dimension. This is the fourth book in the series by Debbie Mason and in my opinion a series you will definitely want to read. You could read this book as a stand alone but having been introduced to some of the characters from previous books really brings the story to life. My thanks to Forever Publishing ,Debbie Mason and Netgalley for the advanced readers copy I was gifted in exchange for my unbiased review. I give this book a solid five stars!

The Inn on Mirror Lake is yet another fine tale in the Highland Falls series written by Debbie Mason. Every time I read a book set in Highland Falls – I so want to move there! The characters were engaging, main storyline was very intriguing (I wanted to know why the dysfunction in the family), could all the various sub stories be wound up satisfactorily before the end of the book and was there to be a happily ever after (HEA)? Happy to report that I was fully entrenched in the lives of all those who live in Highland Falls and that all my questions were answered!

The Inn on Mirror Lake is Elliana (Ellie) MacLeod’s story. She has moved home to help her Grandpa Joe with the upkeep and running of the Mirror Lake Inn, which has been in her family for a long time in an effort to dissuade her mother from selling the Inn and surrounding property off. After all, it is Grandpa Joe’s home (and now Ellie’s). Ellie has a deep attachment to the property and Inn so she is willing to do what it takes to keep the property – not just for grandpa Joe but for herself as well. And if that means taking part in the “Most Romantic Small Town in America” contest – then that is what Ellie will do.

Ellie is a complex, yet well rounded character with an interesting familial backstory. When she takes in Nathan Black and Ryder (Brodie’s son) I just knew that this was going to be one for the books ☺. I truly hoped that Ellie and Nate would finally get together. But naturally, lots of stuff needed to be worked through for both of them. The journey was gut wrenching as well as humorous. The way the residents of Highland Falls came together to look out after these two was wonderful – looking out after their own!

Another one of my favorite characters was of course Grandpa Joe. What a character. Loved how he kept running off with his buddies for various reasons (poker was a main one). And the way Joe took Ryder under his wing and had him help with chores, etc. – priceless.

The Most Romantic Small Town in America contest provided many chuckle worthy moments! Again – I loved how the whole town came together to make the judging event happen and to protect Ellie (dang ex’s!).

I really enjoy the cover art on all the books in this series but the cover of The Inn on Mirror Lake with the Adirondack chairs facing the lake with the gorgeous dog on the front made it easy to get into my happy place.

The Inn on Mirror Lake is more than just a love story. It encompasses dealing with grief, mourning and acceptance that goes along with death (death of Brady) as well as finding the truth (why was/is Ellie’s mother so distant to Ellie?), family and supporting each other no matter what (Grandpa Joe) and of course the hopeful second chance. This series is truly one I am loving and I am hoping there will be another installment so that I may enjoy more antics in this delightful town of Highland Falls. I could go on and on – but I feel that to truly enjoy The Inn on Mirror Lake – one must read the book in its entirety for oneself.

Having read and loved all of Debbie Mason's books, this one was a little bit of a challenge for me.

The Good: Ellie and Nate were great together. They felt fun and free and able to be their true selves with each other. They had great chemistry together. And it is always fun to revisit the characters who we have met in other stories in this series. It was fun to see the interaction between Ellie and the senior citizens who populate the town, especially her Grandfather. There were many sweet moments throughout the story.

The So-So: The plot seemed to be all over the place. Some very heavy things were brought into the storyline and really not addressed to the extent they should of been. And Ellie's Mom, good grief, for such a strong character as Ellie is portrayed the abuse she takes from her Mom does not really seem true to the character. And the ending is wrapped up very neatly in 3-4 pages. It just needed to be fleshed out a little more.

Thank you to Netgalley and Grand Central Publishing for the ARC.

The Inn on Mirror Lake by Debbie Mason, book four in the Highland Falls series follows Ellie and Nate, their pretend/fake relationship, and the amazing cast of secondary characters that make this an enjoyable fun-filled love story, along with some drama and intrigue. Nathan Black might look like a bad boy but he’s more like a teddy bear, kind and understanding, yet obsessed with seeking justice for a friend he lost in the line of duty. Ellie MacLeod appears soft and delicate but has a backbone of steel, who gave up her career to care for her grandfather and his aging inn, with a secret “gift” she’s struggled her whole life to hide. Together Nate and Ellie fight against her family trying to sell the Inn that has been in her family for generations and put her grandfather in a home. I wanted to be a guest at the Inn if only to watch these two totally opposite, but made for each other, fall in love. With the help of Granny MacLeod, Grandfather Joe, the Judge, and the rest of the town helping her and Nate, will they discover that they can have a life together; as these amazing senior citizens interfere, with their meddling and matchmaking. Just when things are looking positive for them, Nate takes charge of a grieving teen, an old love comes to town, attempting to break Ellie and Nate apart, Ellie’s sister brings a dog for her to look after, and her mother ups her determination in the fight to sell the Inn. However, no matter what comes their way, when they dance to their song, the world comes together.

Ms. Mason wrote an enjoyable, amusing, emotional, and heartwarming story that should not be missed. She provided a tale rich with sizzling chemistry, family dynamics, clever banter, lots of laughs, and quirky characters giving Ellie and Nate a chance at love, happiness, and a future together. I highly recommend The Inn on Mirror Lake to other readers.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

The Inn on Mirror Lake is book #4 in the Highland Falls series. I have not read the previous books in the series and had no issue reading this as a standalone. I would like to go back and read the previous books.
A cute story about Ellie who is trying to save her Grandpa’s Inn. While trying to do this, her friends are pushing her toward a relationship with Nate. To top it all off, Ellie knows a secret about her sister that could cause all kinds of trouble for her family, especially Ellie’s mother.
Most of the characters are heartwarming as well quirky….they will have you smiling and laughing.
There is so much going on within the story. You have major family drama, sparks of romance and even some mystery/danger thrown in.
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.

Another delightful story from Debbie Mason. The story captured my interest from the first page and held it to the end. Humor, romance, fun, and more! Don't miss this one.

The Inn on Mirror Lake by Debbie Mason is the fourth book in the contemporary romance Highland Falls series. As with a lot of contemporary romance series the setting is the common theme in the Highland Falls series with the main characters changing in each book. With new characters each novel they all can be read as a standalone or in any order if choosing to do so.

The residents of Highland Falls are going all out trying to win the Most Romantic Small Town in America contest. Elliana MacLeod has agreed to pitch in and renovate her Grandpa Joe’s family Inn all the while trying to stop her mother from selling it out from under Grandpa Joe.

Nathan Black is a law enforcement officer who is briefly staying at the inn that Ellie has always had a crush on but freely admits he is not the relationship type. Nate has agreed to help out with the work at the inn while he is there and Ellie is doing her best to forget about any type of relationship with him but it’s certainly not easy with the attraction between them.

First, I must admit I have never read any of the other books in the Highland Falls series so when I say they read well as a standalone I know that first hand. I have however read Debbie Mason before so I wasn’t surprised to find myself falling easily into The Inn on Mirror Lake and loving the characters and setting. There was a lot going on in the story which only made the pages turn faster and after finishing this fourth book in the series I’d love to go back to the others or read any more coming to the series.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.
