My heart!

I can't believe it's now over, an epic finale for an amazing trilogy, I'm just so sad it's the end of the journey with Squad 312!

I was on edge the entire way through this book, rooting for everyone to have the best endings that they could, I'm not disappointed whatsoever.

I do hope that Amie and Jay do another sci-fi series together, the Illuminae trilogy and Aurora Cycle have both been my favourite sci-fi books.

⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Aurora’s End by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff is an incredible ending for this trilogy. A book that keeps you at the edge of your seat and with your heart in a fist. Action packed, full of feelings and epic quotes. JUST PERFECTION.

Before I go deeper into the review, thank you NetGalley and Oneworld Publications / Rock the Boat for this ARC in exchange for an independent and honest review.

Before you pick this book you will need:
🪐Your favourite snack
🪐Tissues
🪐Icecream, wine, chocolate, a pillow to scream or whatever you use to help a broken heart because Amie and Jay will crush it over and over again…
🪐Did I mention tissues?
🪐Tabs, because this book is full of amazing quotes
🪐Your squad…believe me, you will need to talk about what is happening because oh boy, is a bumpy ride…

Aurora’s End picks up just after the cliffhanger Aurora Burning ended with. This book is a rollercoaster of emotions, you will be biting your nails, sitting at the edge of your seat and kind of scared of turning the page just in case something happens to you favourite character but is also a book full of emotions, of sacrifices made to protect each other, of parallel stories that interlace and bring an epic ending to this universe and our Squad.
I’ve cried, I laughed, I had to put the book down to collect my feelings and picked it up immediately because I couldn’t stop reading it or thinking about the character and their fates.

I’m really looking to re-read this book and listen to the audiobook as in the past two, the casting was superb.

“A book captures a story within its pages. Not like a specimen pinned out lifelessly for display, but vivid and alive. A whole world lies within the cover, a life waiting to be lived by each new reader.”

If you are looking for:

⚜️Adventure in the middle of a space war
⚜️Found family and friends
⚜️Heartbreaking moments with a touch of hope
⚜️Epic love stories that will melt your heart
When the fire of the last sun fails, my love for you will still burn.”

⚜️Sassy female characters, funny male character with irresistible dimples and our favourite cinnamon rolls, one that wears a metal suit and one with braids.
“Please hold.” The comms channel crackles out, leaving us alone. Fin and I are still pressed against each other and that kiss hangs between us now, and if one of us doesn’t say something, I know we’re going to start again. Given the circumstances, that’s probably not the smartest idea. I glance down at his hands. Yep. Still on my ass. “You know, when Zila said ‘Please hold,’ I’m not sure that’s what she meant, de Seel.”

⚜️A hero that is willing to give everything to save the universe.
⚜️Broken characters that keep fighting and don’t give up

Then you are ready for this adventure

🖤 I will see you in the stars, Squad 312 🖤

Another series ends, and I’ll be bereft for a while. I’ve enjoyed these books thoroughly, and Aurora’s End was great. I don’t really have the words for it at the moment. Super sad to see it finished, but also loved the journey.

What an incredible ending to an incredible trilogy.
This book was one of my most anticipated books of the year and it did not disappoint!
Thank you so much to Rock The Boat / One World Publications for an early Arc.
I was on the edge of my seat, biting my nails pretty much the whole way through, you know when a book just grips you so much everything around just kind of blurs? That was this book, it was all I could think about even days after I had finished it.
I can't say too much because of spoilers but for me it was the perfect ending. I cried A LOT and I don't usually with books, it was perfect. There was only one small gripe I had but again I don't want to spoil it so I shall remain quiet.
The book picks up straight away from where we left Auroras Burning, you are automatically back in space with the characters and fully immersed into what it happening. Basically the entire book is a panic attack with a side order of sobbing.
I can't actually believe we are at the end of this trilogy, it's been a wild ride.

WOAH WOAH WOAH!!

A brilliant end to such a good series! I am so sad it is over, I wanted more. But I know whatever Kristoff and Kaufman bring out next will be just as brilliant.

If you haven’t read this series pick it up now.

Finally, the wait is over! At the end of book two in this trilogy, Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman cruelly left us hanging by our fingernails off a huge cliff, wondering how our favourite squad 312 could possibly survive, let alone save the galaxy. Now all will finally be revealed.

It’s impossible to say much without giving spoilers, but rest assured that even when separated by both time and space, squad 312 will do their utmost to stop the Ra’haam in their quest to devour all other life forms in the galaxy. In one of the stronger threads of the plot, three of our favourite characters get trapped in a time paradox with often hilarious consequences and one of the quieter characters will really step up to be an absolute star.

This is a really fun YA scifi series. The action is fast paced, the banter is sassy and snarky, the characters are fearless and feisty and have grown so much since we first met them. Although there is a lot going on, with multiple POVs, it’s all clearly explained and never got confusing. The authors’ amazing imaginations and inventiveness kept the plot fresh and always original and somehow they also managed to pull together an ending that tied all the threads together and should satisfy most of their fans. Although it’s sad to farewell these characters we’ve come to love, I can’t wait to see what they next write together.

Oh! My! God! What did I just read? This book is absolutely freaking phenomenal! There are no words to describe just how excited I was to get my hands on an ARC of Aurora’s End. I fell head over heels in love with this series a few years back when I got the first book in an Illumicrate box. I quickly became obsessed with this amazing series and after Aurora Burning’s ‘worst cliffhanger I have ever read in my life’ ending, I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen.

Aurora’s End picks up right where Aurora Burning ended. Aurora Burning ended with a bang… literally… and Aurora’s End starts fast paced and action packed. I couldn’t wait to see if my favourite squad was alive! Holy crap… right from the very first page I could not put this damn book down! I was racing through the pages as fast as I possibly could. Who was alive… where were my favourites? What was going to happen to them? I desperately needed to know and I am so so so happy with the outcome.

Aurora’s End is without a doubt one of the best series finales I have ever had the pleasure of reading. It is utterly perfect in the most heartbreaking and devastating way. I cannot remember the last time I cried this much at a book. At one point I had to stop reading as I was sobbing so damn hard I couldn’t breathe and couldn’t see the words on the page. Amie and Jay have mastered the balance of breaking your heart completely while also making you love every single moment of it. I am so sad this series is over and I will be waiting on tenterhooks for news of the next Kaufman-Kristoff series… because seriously these two together… they are magical!

Aurora’s End completely changed my perception of everything. If you had asked me prior to this book who my favourite character is, I would have told you Kal. Absolutely! And while I still adore him… my favourite character now is Zila. I love her so, so much and I am super salty that she is not on the cover of this one! As much as I love Finian… it is a damn CRIME that Zila did not get her own cover! I will never not be salty about this. Wanna know why? ….. well you’re just gonna have to read the book and see.

This was without a doubt one of the most phenomenal books I have ever read. It was completely and utterly devastating in the best way possible. I loved every single spacy moment of it and I just wanna read the entire series all over again. There will never be a day when I don’t recommend this phenomenal series! My heart is so full after finishing it… albeit with a few cracks still in it! If you haven’t read this series, what the hell are you waiting for? Go! Go! Go! You won’t be disappointed. I promise. It’s completely ‘out of this world’! Literally!

PS, you have no freaking idea how hard it was to write a review without spoiling everything!

Firstly thanks to Netgalley and Oneworld Publications for the early access copy.

I was so excited to get this and read it ahead of publication after the cliffhanger ending of book two but I will say off the bat that I don’t think that this book is as good as the first two.

I don’t want to give any spoilers away but I thought that the first 20% of the book was a bit out of character for the people that we had come to know and love. Despite this I did enjoy spending more time and character development with a certain someone. I thought that they had been fleshed out nicely and the motivations were clearer.

There is a very handy dandy ‘who’s who and where’ at the beginning of the book so that you can remember what is going on across the split parties.

The action was non stop and fully sucks you in. I just wanted more wise-ass comments from Finnian throughout!

BOOK REVIEW: Aurora's End by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman

3.5 Stars
(Spoiler free review)

Sadly this was my least favourite book in the series and I didn't feel it did the story and especially the characters justice.

I was SO excited for Aurora's End, especially after the huge cliffhanger of the second book. Unfortunately I didn't think the storyline was as good as it could have been. I got a little bored at times due to repetition and almost found the book too split up and "bitty". I also found quite a few scenes to be over the top. My biggest problem was the ending which I found to be ridiculous and a huge cop out.
That being said, there were some parts of the split storylines that were brilliant. I especially loved Zila's story and role in this final book which was unexpected for me.

The characters were overall their wonderful selves. I adored Finian as much as always with his quick wit and clever mind. Scarlett and Tyler both really grew on me in this book, I thought their characters had really grown and loved their parts. Zila was a superstar in this book and I went from being pretty neutral about her to loving her. Her growth from book 1 is probably the most obvious and I loved her new found confidence. I wasn't the biggest of fans of Aurora and Kal in this book, I found them pretty over the top and cringeworthy. I also wish we had had more Saedii and some chapters from her POV.

The writing as ever with Jay and Aimee was fantastic, some wonderful imagination and great humour. They continue to prove to be a wonderful writing duo and I hope they do another series together (possibly a fantasy to mix it up a bit?).

Overall, a decent end to the series but it didn't quite hit the mark for me. Despite this I would still definitely recommend this series if you enjoy YA sci fi as the characters, imagination and writing is generally fantastic. I'm sad it's come to an end!

Please note that I was #gifted this ebook in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 stars

Aurora's End is the high octane, high drama finale to the Aurora Rising series. After a slightly disappointing book 2 I didn't go into this book with the highest expectations but I actually really enjoyed it and got surprisingly emotional towards the end!! The set-up of book 3 is that the main characters are seperated into three groups - I will talk about my thoughts on each of their stories below:

Finian/Scarlet/Zila

These three spent most of the book trapped in a time loop, forced to repeat the same few hours over and over until they can escape. This was probably my favourite part of the book, I always looked forward to their chapters and the developments and revelations we discover. I also liked the new character we meet in the time loop Nari.

Tyler/Saedii

Tyler is now a prisoner of the unbroken and is trying to convice the rest of the galaxy to take seriously the threat of the Ra'sheem, as he is the only member of squad 312 left in the proper timeline. I really like Tyler as a character (Im a sucker for the golden retriver bois) so I enjoyed his chapters and his interactions with Saedii (who is also very much my type lol).

Auri/Kal

These two have found themselves transported into the future along with Kal's warcriminal father and must find a way to repair the weapon and travel back to the proper time to save the galaxy. Kal and Auri are probably my least favourite characters of the group but the direction their story took in this book I actually really enjoyed and loved the themes it looked at.

I really like all the characters in the series but for me the romances are not very strong and are probably the weakest part of the book for me. However I did quite like the developments between Tyler and Saedii and without giving too much away what happens when we meet future (dilf) Tyler ;)

I think this series is a great sci-fi for young adult readers and those new to the genre, it introduces a lot of common concepts and tropes in a fun and easy to read way. This installment also plays quite a lot with time which I think the authors did a good job of managing not to make it confusing and tying everything together in a satisfying way.

In conclusion this was an enjoyable conclusion with some really great found family moments and a fast paced plot that will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time, if you can get over some slightly cringy romance and cheesy writing.

I loved this book. I love Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoffs writing. I had already loved Aurora Rising, and Aurora burning so I went into Auroras end with high expectations, and it didn't disappoint

Aurora's End is an enjoyable and engaging end to the series. It was neatly wrapped up, but there some repetitiveness that I found could have been shortened and I found that it was a little predictable.
The writing was good, stayed in sync with the rest of the novels previously.
I think my main issue was that the ending didn't turn out to be bittersweet/etc. It was a usual happy YA ending, which I personally don't enjoy as much because it's so overused in young adult novels. I also think things turned from really bad to really good in such a short amount of time, which I think imbalanced the story a little, but it was still enjoyable.

Back with my be’shmai, Kal!!!

Let me get this out the way first. I need to get this off my chest! I know there was a big event at the end of Burning but all I could think of was Aurora and what she did to Kal so going into this, I knew I wasn't going to forgive her easily!

And then I forgot all about that with this line....
'I still have riches beyond counting, because I have her.' I do marvel about how fickle I sometimes!

Anyway.....so now the war is on. On like Kong with the Ra’haam.........'How bright the last fire may flare before it is snuffed out entirely.' But Squad 312 are here and they want to get the job done!

We see the past, the present and we get action, drama and a whole dollop of my fave characters ever.

~ Oh course my Kal.
~ Magellan, the sassy hero.
~ Tyler and Saedii - my actual dark heart. 'I will see you in the stars'......
~ And Zila will always be my Queen in everything and especially this moment:
'Are you two spending precious minutes in the middle of a heretofore unheard-of temporal paradox engaging in frivolous presexual activity?'

The last few chapters had me sitting on the edge of my seat, had me tearing up, had me smiling big. It was utterly beautiful.

I'm so sad to say goodbye to Squad 312 but what a great series this was!

ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE
PERFECT
INTENSE
EXHILARATING

SQUAD 312 FOREVER

Honestly, i love this series. I love how complex it is, i love every single character but i felt that i loved the characters MORE fiercely in this one. Zila is just a QUEEN. Tyler has always been my fave and will remain so. Auri and Kal were brave, Scarlett was incredible and Fin!!! And Cat 😭😭😭

Time travel is the key ingredient and it is complicated. Most of the time when the characters were working out the big reveal, i was there thinking, nope Scarlett, i haven't understood, you are going to have to spell it out for me 😂😂 but then they explain everything well.

I am so impressed and happy with how it all played out. I wish i could change some things but i get it, I understand why it had to be that way.

Incredible.

Aurora's End is a stunning climax to a fantastic series that simultaneously managed to not pull its punches and hit me right in the feels too. Cannot stress how much I loved this trilogy.

First class banter ✔
Edge of your seat action ✔
Finian being amazing ✔
Emotionally traumatising ✔

It's been one hell of a ride and I'm devastated that it's over but what a way to end the series! I loved every minute, even the emotionally traumatising ones. Top marks from me!!

So, Aurora Rising was a strong, space adventure with some emotional moments. Aurora Burning was a book of non stop action. And Aurora's End is an indescribable conclusion that left me a sobbing mess.

There were characters in the first book that I struggled to feel any connection to, but by End even they felt like my found family. This book has such immense heart and I can't even begin to imagine how I'm going to move past it.

Oh, it also helps that the story is clever and fun-filled, neatly wrapping up the events of the series with a brilliant plot. Even if you're emotionally dead inside and unable to enjoy if ripping put your heart, I'm confident that any science fiction lover would devour this book for the plot alone!

I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I loved The Aurora Cycle from the moment I saw the first cover. It was beautiful and looked adventurous. I can't believe that with Aurora's End it's over!

Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff created a fantastic world, with loveable characters full of passion, mysteries and hope.

Interesting story keeps the reader engaged and the themes in the 3rd book are one of my favourites. I was hooked from the first chapter, and I don't know how they did it, but after fantastic first two books, the last one is even better.

The plotting was perfect and how everything comes together is mind-blowing. Everything that happened in the story fits perfectly and every single tiny detail had it purpose. It's fantastic to see how it all ends.

AND THE ENDING! It was so beautiful. At first I was slightly disappointed in a way it was unraveling only because I had very strong feelings towards something, but then I understood that it's the best way how the war could have ended and that the authors gave us a brilliant gift of hope, love and freedom.

I wish that wasn't the last book in the story, but maybe we need to now let Aurora and others to live their lives.

What an amazing conclusion to an epic trilogy! I am so sad to say goodbye to Squad 312, but what a ride it's been. I loved how incredibly well the story pieced together, solving the various mysteries that had revealed themselves over the course of the three books. This trilogy has been so entertaining to read and I fell in love with each character. I cannot wait to see what JK and AK come up with next!
