The Score by Kerry Kaya is a terrific read. A really great follow on to The Price.
It continues the story of Fletch as he is released from prison after 22 years. All Fletch has longed for is to see his beloved children, Austin and Kit He continually followed their their development and welfare from his best mate Steve, he has kept Fletch up with all the news. But of course things are not quite as Fletch believed and he soon finds out that Austin is up to his neck in trouble, and Kit is a married woman ....to Roscoe Taylor of all people. Throw in an addict for an ex wife, a lover that is on the missing list and a guy named Ginger Parmar and you have fireworks! Fletch's family is in chaos and he feels he owes his kids to sort their mess out. This is a compelling story with lots of great characters. Extremely violent as you would expect, but a book that I highly recommend if you love gangland crime. Well done again Kerry Kaya and thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Kaya never seems to disappoint. I read this book in one sitting with the occasional coffee making and the obvious bathroom breaks. I even forgot to eat. After the first page I just couldn't put it down. Fortunately it had been raining all day so nothing could keep me from it despite the need to hoover which lost.

It's a gangland thriller with lots of twists and turns.

Fletch has been in prison for 20 years and all he wants to do is see his kids. He finds out his wife has spent all the money and wants to basically rip his wifes head off. It is an emotional roller coaster. You need to be aware that this is a gangland thriller so some of the language may offend. But if you get past that you'll find a story of family, love, loss and loyalty.

It is a definitely a book you should pick up if you love this genre as I do.

Enjoy!

Kerry Kaya is back! With a sequel to The Price, a gritty, gangland thriller that brought us Fletcher and Spencer. A brilliant book and one I recommend for anyone who loves Kimberley Chambers. I snatched the invitation up for this book, couldn't wait to see how life had treated Fletch. There was no doubt in my mind that I would enjoy my visit back into Fletch's world and I was right.
The Score picks up twenty two years after The Price ends, we see Fletch come out of prison back to his old stomping grounds. All he wants is to see his kids. He discovers that his son, Austin, is just like him...except he doesn't realise the seriousness of the consequences and he is always in trouble.
His daughter is married to the notorious Roscoe Taylor which he isn't pleased about either. He decides he is going to help Austin out of his predicament, let the good times roll...or not?
The Score keeps the standards Kerry Kaya set herself when she wrote The Price. Another gritty, action-packed, layered story. Characters you love to hate and ones you can't help silently cheering on. Kerry Kaya creates such well rounded characters that you feel you know them. The fact that I started reading and was back in Fletch's world was good enough for me. He may be an ex-con but I feel like he could be a mate, I must be honest and say towards the end of the first book, maybe a few tears leaked out of my eyes, that's how connected I was and I am again. That shows skill to me and I can't wait for Kerry Kaya to release another book.
Anyone who loves a good gangland thriller will love this. My attention was grabbed straight away and as the story unfolded, I was kept intrigued by the twists, secrets and lies that kept coming as the pages turned.
A fantastic book, a brilliant series! Keep it up Kerry, I love your work. Thanks to Rachel's Random Resources and Boldwood Books for my highly prized copy of this book.

If you are looking for a gangland crime thriller read then you really need to have a look at this book from Kerry Kaya. It has a very addictive brutal side as well as being very twisted.

Fletch has just been released from prison after 22 years. He is estranged from his son Austen and Daughter Kit, people have moved on and there are only a small few that Fletch can trust. Given his volatile nature, those closest to him are very nervous about telling the full details of what has occurred over the years.

Fletch is eager to get back in touch with his children, but they have moved on, he is a stranger to them, and they lead their own lives. Austen is an act now deal with the consequences later type of guy. This time however he has pushed his luck too far and a cat and mouse game ensues. Rather than keeping his head and dealing with the consequences, he relies on others to help him out.

The author has created such a fabulous storyline with some amazing characters, none of which are particularly nice or trustworthy for that matter. I liked the way the author laid this story out, introducing certain characters, allowing me to get to know them and then she threw in a twist. These were fabulous twists and kept me on my toes, it also meant the story keeps evolving in an almost real-time feel.

This is a gangland crime, therefore the details can be a little bit toe-curling at times. The language is in keeping with the genre, so do expect some heated exchanges between characters. This story is one of family and loyalty, of respect and trust and about trying to build familial bonds. It is an emotional roller coaster of a story and one that had me hooked from the very first page. A fabulous story that will appeal to readers who like a grittier gangland, crime thriller read and it is one I would definitely recommend.

This latest book by Kerry was superb and a cracking read. I was hooked from the very first few pages, right till the end and ended up reading this brilliant book in two sittings. So glad the sun stayed out all day.

This book will not disappoint! its very gritty, full of great twists and turns throughout.

I highly recommend this book; especially if you love gangland thrillers this is perfect for fans of Kimberley Chambers, Kerry Barnes, Martina Cole, and Jessie Keane fans.

I read this book in less than twenty four hours,it was grippjng!! With quite gruesome moments, I did cringe a few times, I must be honest!!!
Fletch has come out of prison with quite a few problems to sort out. With twenty years away from his family, it won't be sorted out quickly!.
The plot was good and the story flowed really well!. I think the author threw in some gruesome scenes to make it more authentic and it worked well. It is definitely worth a look at. You won't be disappointed!.
Many thanks to Netgalley for the free ARC book for an honest review.

Once again a highly explosive new novel from Kerry Kaya that does not disappoint.
If you enjoy a good gangland thriller and enjoy authors such as Martina Cole, Casey Kelleher, and Jessie Keane amongst others you are in for a treat. Kerry is definitely a contestant for the worthy title of ‘queen of crime writing'.

This book is a fast paced thriller and is actually the second book featuring Fletch, a full and riveting book of family complications, violence (opens with a great scene!) love and lies. Though this is the second book and I would highly recommend the first, this could be read as a stand alone.

Great novel and look forward to the next book whether it’s a novel or a continuation of the characters in this book.

Fabulous read! Followed on seamlessly from book one - although I think it could be read as a stand alone. Brilliant to catch up with the story and the characters as well as meet a few new ones. Really hope there's going to be another instalment as there is plenty of drama left with these characters!

If you like gangland thrillers, this is a must read. Kerry Kaya writes about family loyalties, the underworld, drugs and a cast of dodgy characters all wrapped up in this fast paced thriller. This is an excellent follow up to The Price with well developed characters and a good storyline. I would recommend it to lovers of the genre. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this ARC.

Kerry Kaya is a new author to me, and I thought the premise of this book looked like my kind of read and it definitely was. I started reading this not quite knowing what to expect, and god did this book deliver. Fletch is released from prison after two decades and returns to the area he grew up in with hopes to reconnect with his children. Whilst imprisoned his family kept secrets from him which all start to unravel and his past returns to haunt him. Wow, I thought this was a cracker of a read, it was so well written and had characters I either liked or loathed who all had their own agendas. The author grabbed my attention right from the start of the book and held it all the way through. I loved the twists, the layers of lies and deceit and when I’d got used to a twist the author threw in another one. I loved this book, just loved it. It was a fast paced and a very entertaining read and one hell of a gangland thriller. This is the 2nd book about Fletch and whilst it can be read on it’s own, I will be looking to read the first book and the authors other books when I can.

I was excited to read The Score by Kerry Kaya after reading the previous novel The Price which was brilliant. I thank you Boldwood books for an ARC.
After 22 years in prison for killing his father Fletch is released from prison. All he wants to do is see his kids after all these years hoping that they have done something with their lives and not turn out like him. Waiting for his outside, is his best mate Stevie. Stevie tries talking to Fletch and tell him to take things slowly. But when he finds out what his family has been up to since he has been inside Fletch starts to get angry. His son Austin is just like is dad apart from not realising what the consequences of his actions are and he always seems to be in trouble and what’s worse his daughter has married the notorious Roscoe Taylor. Like Father’s do, Fletch takes upon himself to help Austin get out of the predicament he is in.
I always like a good Gangland thriller and The score does not disappoint. This is a fast paced, action-packed gritty thriller, that all Gangland thriller fans will love. This has a great storyline and is family orientated. How far would you go for your family? I loved it. Can’t wait to hear more from this author. 5 stars from me.

Thanks to netgalley for letting me review this book for an honest review i loved it, couldnt put it down. Fletch has been in prison for over 2 decades, for killing his dad who had killed his brother.his children are grown up austin and kit . A.ustin has a daughter called lacey. The money that was left to tina the kids mom to look after them went on her drug habit and bought rosco taylor his club.. .rosco taylor is a nasty piece of work and moved from tina to daughter kit. Someone has stolen roscos shipment of coke and as he is now married to kit, he blames her brother austin. Lots of blood and gore, twists and turns, fast paced, highley recommend......

I have loved gangland/gangster type books for years but have never read Kaya before, until this one. I am currently struggling with my reading mojo, personal life stuff, but this managed to yank me out for a bit. Fletch done his crime (avenged his wee brother) and now he is out, he left behind his mrs and two young kids, a boy and a girl. A twenty year stretch is a long time but he left plenty to ensure his family would be set. His girl moved on and his kids grew up, Fletch has no idea what has went down in his absence and not everyone is happy Fletch is out.

Oooft if you don't like swearing, violence and shady characters (what do you expect from gangland fiction) then these type of books aren't for you. We open with a brutal torture and quickly get a feel for the characters. Kit and Austin, Fletch's grown up kids are in the life Fletch wanted them to be clear of. His best mate Stevie has kept so much from him, protected him, and now Fletch is out he is finding out just how deep in the life his "kids" are.

Family drama, drugs, murder, violence, love, lies - add a bit of spice - welcome to "The Score". There is a lot of family drama, Kit and Austin react very differently to their dad being out, there are some very shady characters and the drama keeps on coming.

I really needed something like this, just pure escapism from my life into others. Underworld, drugs, shade, like walking into a different world. Gritty, dangerous, noone is safe, everyone is out for themselves in this type of world but for some, family is everything, 4.5/5 for me. This was my first dance with this author, it won't be my last, will defo be checking out her back catalogue. The Score is out the 28th of this month but you can pre-order on Amazon UK now.

Oh my goodness. From the first page, Kerry meant business. Fletch is out of prison and his past comes back to haunt him. His children all grown up and he wants to stay on the straight and narrow. However, he'll do anything to protect his kids which could end badly. The violence, skulduggery, plot, the storyline this book has it all. It is one of the best gangland books I've read in a while and is up there with books written by the big authors we all love. Kerry, take a bow as this book was absolutely blinding!

As soon as I read the blurb I knew this book was going straight to the front of the queue of my ever growing list of books to read. I LOVED The Price so to be able to revisit Fletch post prison sentence was super exciting!

I'm quite new to the Gangland thriller scene so I have to say I do find myself squirming in my seat sometimes when it comes to the violent imagery! That being said, yet another great read from Kaya; Kept me hooked from start to finish. Filled with action, savegery, bomb shells and ferocity, you'll struggle to put it down!

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review 📖

After serving 20yrs in prison Fletch is free as he walks out the gates all he can think of is his kids until he here's his best mate Stevie call out to him. Fletch wants to go see his kids but stevie tells him to take things slowly so the drive to stevie's house. Fletch can feel the dislike coming from stevies wife but his little girls are so sweet he lets it go. Things are so different after 20yrs inside but when he finds out that his kids suffered abuse and his wife spent all the money he left her for the kids fletch blows a fuse and it takes a lot for stevie to control him fletch wants to rip his wifes head off. I have to say i love Fletch he is such a loving family man and i have really loved reading this book i was hooked from start to finish and can't wait for the Kerry Kaya book 5*
