Oh, wow. That...that was some quality work, y'all.👌
This is what we can call scorching romance, the kind where the love of the characters and the chemistry between them leave you breathless and swooning.
.
The plot wasn't a complicated one, it was more of the author just establishing the first point in their story, showing how they met, and then proceeding according to the characters, which was terrific because the author was really brilliant with how she can hook a reader completely with only day to day scenes.
.
The characters. Don't let me start on them. They were EPIC!!
Hildy was just amazing, she was strong, independent, thoughtful and determined, it was quite refreshing to see this lovely character get her love story.
Tobias, on the other hand, just became my favorite fictional man, literally the ultimate bad boy with kind heart.
.
The only slight in the book was towards the beginning, there were some disagreement and push and pull action, which I felt was unnecessary, there were at least 2 chapters that we could've done without.
.
But, overall, definitely one of my favorite reads this year.

The Brazen Bluestocking
Tracy Sumner
Tropes: Matchmaker, Spinster, Rogue
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/🔥🔥🔥🔥

FANTASTIC! Simply Fantastic. Tracy Sumner opens this new series with a bang! The Brazen Bluestocking is fun, energetic and absolutely hard to put down. This tale of two broken people finding an unexpected and once in a lifetime love is heartwarming. Their attraction is instant. Their chemistry unquestionable. Watching them fall in love was such treat for neither was expecting it. The story is well written and positively sparkles.

Lady Hildegard Templeton is beautiful, smart, and firmly on the shelf. She’s a social outcast living in a dilapidated house with servants this side of ancient, struggling to make ends meet. With the help of her best friend, she runs the Duchess Society, a business that helps young women on the marriage mart make advantageous matches. Known as the mad matchmaker, Hildy is determined to get her latest assignment to the alter, for doing so means bills paid, food on the table and coal on the fire. She has no time to nurture her growing attraction to the fiancé of her latest client.

Tobias Streeter, the Rogue King of Limehouse Basin is more than meets the eye. What you see is indeed not what you get. He’s worked his way up from the slums to become one of the wealthiest men in London. He’s generous and kind and an all-around good guy, but he doesn’t want anyone to know it. The bastard son of a viscount, Tobias needs a suitable bride to help him snag a new business venture. But upon meeting Hildy, a feisty chit negotiating his contracts, Tobias notices there’s something undeniable between them. What exactly…their both hesitant to find out…but as always, true love will not be denied.

This book was amazing. There’s simply something wonderful about a rough and hard man. If you’re looking for something to make your heart swoon, this is the book for you. Tobias will make you fall in love with him ….and hard!

Lady Hildegard Templeton is somewhat of an outcast in society. The impoverished daughter of an Earl who was left penniless has started a matchmaking service for society ladies, the Duchess Society. After being hired to match a somewhat difficult lady with the notorious Tobias Streeter, king of the underworld. After Hildegard begins the matchmaking, she soon realizes that Tobias has her heart.
This was a wonderful romance novel... super fun to read. I loved the plot line and how different it was than anything I've read before, with the matchmaking ladies. Tobias was a wonderful hero in the novel and it was delightful that there was more to him than the typical hero. He had a great back story, I loved that the author made him smart and educated and driven. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars was because I was pretty let down by the climatic "rescue" in the book. After giving Tobias so much time in the story and talking about his street smarts, and strong build and how he survived the worst of the worst, it was a total letdown for Hildegard to get kidnapped only to walk out of the room of her kidnapper and just walk right into her house like nothing happened. It would have been a 5 star+ story if the author wouldn't have skipped right over that part of the story for me.
Thank you to Netgalley & the publishers for the ARC in exchange for my review & opinions.

Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I loved the banter and explosive sexual tension between the protagonists. Both shared their attraction to each other early on but the obstacle of his impending marriage kept them second guessing their decision to marry each other. I thought the heroine was confident and intelligent. I loved that she was not afraid to pursue what she wanted. Lots of sparks between and this made for a very entertaining novel.

The Brazen Bluestocking is the first book in a historical series. This book follows Lady Hildegard “Hildy” Templeton and Tobias Streeter, the bastard son of a viscount, as they work together to arrange his marriage. She has a reputation as a matchmaker, so he has asked for her help to find him a wife. Even though he is a successful businessman, very few people want their daughter to marry a bastard.

Hildy is the daughter of an earl, determined to live her life by her own standards and her matchmaking business goes against the norms of the ton. Tobias wants a business agreement in the form of a marriage, but starts to fall for Hildy while she's helping him to find a wife, but Hildy only wants to marry for love.

I completely adored the plot devices which moved their story forward - secrecy, deception, and some danger always make for a fun read. I'm always going to root for a couple who come from different backgrounds and this book is no exception!

I just reviewed The Brazen Bluestocking by Tracy Sumner. #TheBrazenBluestocking #NetGalley

In The Brazen Blue Stocking by Tracy Sumner we meet lady Hildegard. She and Lady Georgiana start the duchess society, a matchmaking endeavor for the upper crust in London society. Her first client is to be a father of five and he wants her to wear his oldest daughter with Tobias. If she can do this he will allow her to Web and match his other four daughters. This is a great opportunity, but the only problem is when she goes to interview Tobias, her heart claime’s him for her own. She wants to disregard this, but as the famous saying goes the heart wants what it wants. Not to mention the oldest daughter who is to be Tobias is bride has her own plans and they don’t include him. Like most of Mrs. Sumner‘s books there’s the plot in mini sun plots that she leaves together to make one great story. Tobias has gangsters trying to tarnish his new life anymore keep lady Hildegard safe. Even though I am doing a terrible job at a summary just know if you’ve ever read a Tracy Sumner but you are in for a treat and if you haven’t you’re still in for a treat. There is so much to love about her books and I love it all and can’t wait to get to the next one. I was given this book by net galley and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Please forgive any grammatical or punctuation errors as I am blind and dictate my review but all opinions are definitely my own.

Really quick and entertaining historical (Georgian/Regency) romance with an opposites attract, forbidden romance plot that includes a kidnapping, a doomed marriage of convenience, found family, and radical soaring ambition.

The story follows two characters skirting around “polite society”. The bluestocking daughter of an Earl, Hildy aka “The Mad Matchmaker”, and the by-blow of a Viscount and a Romani mother, Tobias. Who has built a thriving empire as the wealthy, smuggler/whiskey distiller/architect known as the “Rogue King of Limehouse Basin”.

Their story is one of instant attraction, burning desire, with a dash of emotional trauma and baggage a mile long. Tobias is ruthless when it comes to business but Hildy quickly finds out he’s actually a mostly benevolent, cinnamon roll. Caring for a pregnant cat, an orphaned little boy and brick by brick trying to dismantle the workhouse system and help as many families in need as humanly possible. He is quite frankly the best part of the book. His character is equal parts suave and sincere, mysterious yet an open book if you look close enough. Hildy is the stubborn, go-getting, workaholic, fighting every day for her little slice of life. I love her earnest enthusiasm when it comes to learning new things (🌶🌶) but her wishy washy nature gets somewhat tiring.

There’s a lot of missing pieces to the puzzle of Tobias and Hildy’s life, especially as children, that I really wish we were privy to a more detailed account of their history. But their love story and how they find their way to each other is highly entertaining.

Tidbits and tropes:

Regency romance
Forbidden romance
Dual POV
Opposites attract/class differences
HEA
Steamy: 🌶🌶/5
Part of a series but can be read as a standalone.

Thank you, NetGalley for the chance to read and review The Brazen Bluestocking by Tracy Summer!

The Brazan Bluestocking came out last year in September and is published by WOLF Publishing. I'm fond of regency romance novels, but something felt oddly familiar about this book. I checked out Tracy Summer on Goodreads and found that this was the second novel I'd read by her (the first being The Duke is Wicked which I received from Book Sirens).

While I'm still starting The Wicked Wallflower in this series, I'm not sure if Tracy Summers is my favorite romance writer yet. Something about this was good, but also made me slow down significantly and I'm not sure if I like that in my romance novels; I prefer my mind being on vacation while I read these. I am still starting a third book by her, so clearly she's pretty good. I bounce between romance writers and I don't think I've read more than 2 books by the same writer (the second one can never hold my interest for very long), so the third book thing is significant to me.

That being said, the plot was good, the twists kept coming, we had a very interesting main character, and I would love to learn more about Mattie in the upcoming books. A lot of regency romances includes a lot of cattiness between some of the female characters, this one was more wholesome, and it had an actual cat.

I'm not going to comment on what I got from NetGalley, mostly because I used my KU subscription to also read this, I figured that would help the author more!

An inconvenient attraction that leads to love. Tracy Sumner did an excellent job portraying all the emotions wrapped up in such a situation. The characters were simple and complex at the same time, which kept me engaged throughout the book. This is the first of the series, and it's clear that some of the secondary characters will get their own moment in the sun, which I'm eagerly looking forward to. Definitely a worthwhile read...because of it, I made sure to get the prequel to the series.
Thanks to NetGalley and Wolf Publishing for this arc, which I voluntarily read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Fun read! Hildy is a lady who works as a matchmaker/ fact checker, she goes to investigate a prospective groom-Tobias, a man who worked his way up from nothing. Sparks instantly fly! Great dialogue and story!! Must read!

Thank you so much to NetGalley for allowing me to read The Brazen Bluestocking. This is the first book I’ve read by Tracy Sumner.

Lady Hildegard Templeton is the daughter of an Earl. She creates the Duchess Society, which helps women who are about to marry. People call her the Mad Matchmaker and usually talk about her behind her back. Hildy decides she wants to marry for love. She’s an unconventional heroine who doesn’t conform to what society wants from her.
She meets Tobias Streeter who is about to marry Lady Matilda. Tobias is half-Romani and illegitimate. I always enjoy when a character doesn’t fit into the main society. It adds a little spice. I’m also weak for a literary hero. I loved Tobias has a library in his office and reads Shakespeare.

It took a little bit of time to get used to the writing style. I did really enjoy parts of it. The conversations between Tobias and Hildy were probably my favorite. Some of the things that happened didn’t quite feel like they would happen in regency England like Matilda becoming a doctor.

This is no disrespect to the author. Overall, I don’t think this book was for me. Tobias being engaged to marry Matilda and then pursuing Hildy made the waters a little murky. Even if neither Tobias nor Matilda wanted to marry each other, I think they should’ve just ended the engagement before getting involved. The charade seemed to go on a little too long. The spicy scenes weren’t my favorite either. The way Tobias kicked out Hildy was a little off-putting. It seemed like he treated her as the problem, but was secretly still in love with her. I’m not a fan of those kinds of men in novels. He just expected her to take him back after not really apologizing. Then she took him back! I thought she was supposed to be independent and brazen. I feel like she gave in to his behavior a little too quickly. She acts like it’s her choice to choose him, but it didn’t feel right to me. I would’ve liked to see a little more character growth there. They also wanted to be friends with advantages, which is basically friends with benefits. I’m not sure I understood the motive behind doing that. Maybe I’ve seen it done too many times, but I wasn’t a fan of the kidnapping trope.

I did really like that it was a short book. I like a concise story. The ending was really good. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves steamy regency romance novels.

An Unexpected Attraction

I loved Hildy and Tobias journey to love. Hildy, daughter of an Earl and Tobias bastard son of a Viscount have an amazing connection from the first moment they met. Hildy was investigating Tobias while working for the Dutchess Society to bring him up to scratch for the Earls daughter he was to marry which was to be a marriage of convenience.

There’s lots of banter, chemistry and the steam level is hot along the way to complete their journey of love!

I’ve only discovered this author recently and I will definitely be reading more of her books. If you love historical romance books with a twist but lots of steam, this author is a must to read. I can’t wait to read the next instalment of the series.

It was such a great story. I would say give this one a try. I will continue to follow this author. Way to go to this author for not letting me down.

Hildy and Tobias have a great chemistry. Love his tough guy act because you see how many ways he really is a softie. Story has a bit of a mystery and is steady paced. Great secondary characters.

Another great one from this author--don't miss this new series. This is the second volume of the Duchess Society whose aim is to help women get their fare share in the marriage contract, or just to get protection. Basically, they look out for the woman when no one else in society at the time.. does. So, here's our heroine, Hildy, trying to mold our hero, Tobias, into what he needs to be for his potential bride. Only, neither of them imagined they would be attracted to each other. I was wondering how the author was going to clean this up so that we would't have negative impact from cheating, etc. None of that came into play, so I was relieved. I could genuinely rout for them and be happy for them as they found against, but found their way to a happy ending.

A very late review, I’m so sorry but here it is 🤧

𝐏𝐥𝐨𝐭:

I think this count as forbidden romance in a sense that our heroine is matchmaking the hero to the other character which I was skeptical at first, this type of trope gives me anxiety to be honest.

But as I go on, I was surprised that it didn’t stressed me out because the pacing and the execution of the story was well done.

I would just like to say, that I really didn’t end up liking the writing so much, there were a number of scenes that I thought was a little bit cringey for my liking at some point.

Aside from that, I also noticed that there were some inconsistency in the scenes, there were some times, I felt off but just minor scenes and interactions that probably is because of the writing as the story goes on.

𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬:

The characters are really adorable, I enjoyed their personality so much. I enjoyed the bad boy x sunshine soft heroine kind of trope that this book had.

Another thing is that I enjoyed how the author came up with such compelling characters with amazing depths.

I really did enjoy on getting to know them more, not just in a superficial part but as well as their most deeper components that made them who they are now.

I would also like to point out the LGBTQ rep/ insinuations here, with that being said, I’d love to read the stories of the rest of the characters that’s on this book.

𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞:

As for the romance, I’d say that I was skeptical at first because it felt like it was instalove for me?

However, the tension that Tobias and Hildie had did made it up for me.

I did enjoy the slow burn kind of romance they eventually did had in the story, although I’d say it wasn’t really slow burn but I kind of just see it as a kind of a little bit because of the tension that the two had.

𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐥:

This was a good read ✨ Enjoyed the characters so much as well as their depths. I just hoped that the writing was much more and more of consistent. Recommended for those historical romance ✨
