Reading is about escaping your world and entering another one. The word building was phenomenal in this book. Here I forgot about my own life and was immersed in the world created by the author.

I was completely intrigued by a female assassin for hire, however this is second in the series and it probably would have made more sense had I read the first book. The main character remains nameless but it does not cause confusion, the writing is done well. I highly recommend reading the first book first. Thank you Netgalley, Oceanview Publishing and the author for this eARC in exchange for my honest review.

Can a nameless female assassin become a heroine? That's sort of the question posed here. Hired to protect an important tech executive and an important tech advance, she finds herself still killing people. I missed the first book but Richards does provide the back story. It's an intriguing twist on the trope. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

Since I prefer reading series books in order, I purchased and quickly read HITWOMAN, the first book in Linda L. Richards new series before starting EXIT STRATEGY. Both books are easy to read once you get used to not knowing a many details about the hitwoman, including her name. Although, as the series progresses, you discover a lot in both books about the hitwoman’s motives and how she lives. In EXIT STRATEGY, the hitwoman’s unexpected assignment is to protect a female IT executive critical to new technology that converts waste into energy. It is difficult to believe a relatively novice hitwoman can figure out who might want to take out the IT executive and actually save her when a lot of the investigation is watching from a car parked on the street and finagling a tour. However, the story speeds along with a reasonable motive developed and an unexpected ending. At first, I wasn’t sure if EXIT STRATEGY is the end of the series, but now think the author is shifting the hitwoman’s future. Revealing more would ruin this story, and it certainly is worth reading.

I found the premise interesting and think it would have been better If I read the first book in the series. It was somewhat confusing and made even more so by so many words that were not fully written in the ARC. I know this will be corrected but for me, i had to guess at least one word per paragraph which was annoying

A woman with no name, she's an assassin but reluctantly so. This is the second book in a series with no name. Exit Strategy by Linda L. Richards is a great new expierience for me. I found the story in the first book intriguing enough that I had to read it and now the second is on its way out in stores and the greatness continues. She is trying to withdraw from killing people but she needs the money but who will care for her dog when she is working? What about the man following her? This time the job is different, she has to keep someone alive instead of killing them. I must really thank @oceanviewpub @netgalley for giving me this advance copy of #ExitStrategy and @lindalrichards for writing these books.

This book wa sent to me electronically for review for Netgalley. It is a book of mystery, murder, and intrigue…a woman who kills and then protects…who can be trusted?.. who is the enemy?… there are red herrings in the book that make it difficult to guess the ending…this is a quick read with dark threads running through it…wondering…guessing…thinking…trying to stay ahead of the story…this is a talented author who weaves a story of appealing intrigue..

I guess I should have checked and seen that it was a sequel. It was confusing and I couldn't really get into the characters. I blame only myself for it, honestly. I'll make sure to check all galleys in the future to make sure I don't need any previous knowledge of the characters. Maybe that was the intention here, but I really felt like I was missing a big chunk of information and I wasn't very motivated to read the previous book.

I'm genuinely confused about Exit Strategy. This wasn't my cup of tea. I struggled to finish it. Unfortunately, I didn't find the writing style interesting and the characters were very unlikable.

An assassin is hired to protect the CTO of a new tech company. She is trained to kill, but this time she has to protect someone even if it means killing other people.

This was a fast-paced thriller. Absolutely loved the writer's writing style as well. I especially loved the relationship between the MC and her dog. I enjoyed the plot, although the end was a bit off for me. It was open to interpretation and so it kept me wondering about certain things. All in all, a good read.

CW: death of a child, death of a spouse, suicide ideation, murder.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publishers, and the author for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

This one is good, not great. I liked the premise and was pleasantly surprised a couple of times in the story. I hope the author keeps writing.

I really appreciate the free ARC for review!

Her assignment is different this time—to keep someone alive. Being a hired killer has taken its toll, though not as much as losing her whole family before she made that abrupt career change. She’s tired and depressed, but keeping the beautiful CTO of a hot tech company alive seems worthwhile. There are complications and some people have to die as she protects her target—and the invention that will change the world for good.

This book was fast paced and enjoyable! It was my first read by Richards and I will be looking for more of her works. I liked how the ties were tied without too much of a the typical “happy ending”, but content enough. There was one spelling error that bothered me but that’s obviously nothing lol.
I would definitely recommend this book.

I really enjoyed this book: it is truly a thriller. It caught my attention right from the start with the combination of
interesting characters, fast pace, and some very interesting plot points.

And the book kept my attention through the end. The plot did get a little convoluted towards the end, however.
The protagonist( the hit woman) is obviously going through some ind of existential crisis, which is aided/ exacerbated by her handler: who taps her for this one last assignment: save my daughter from being killed!

Her daughter is the brains behind a new tech startup that promises to change garbage to some kind of fuel (little unclear what kind). This is very PC, and of course laudable too. But as the book unfolds, it gets increasingly murky as to who deserves to be saved- and why. The key suspects on who might want to kill her dissolve into confusion towards the book''s end, and the daughter is found at the tech startup trying to incinerate one of the people who raised money for the venture, but who was supposedly shorting the stock in anticipation of the technology's failure.

I know that in the movies and books, people kill for a lot less, but there is something forced about the daughter getting caught with that guy, and ultimately released by the police. It got me scratching my head thinking what is really going on here- and what is the moral of all this?

And then the hit woman/ along with her handler/ seem to reach an epiphany at the end that their efforts would be better spent solving the world's problems, rather than taking people out. Also, this felt forced and tacked on. I would rework the ending to provide some moral takeaway that is more satisfying.

But have to say I enjoyed reading the book anyway! Thanks for the opportunity.
