I really enjoyed this one! The cousins are really hilarious together and I love their closeness while still giving each other shit about everything.

2.5 stars rounded up for the humor and the cousins!

I love Avery Flynn's writing. Her characters are always interesting, flawed and relatable and her use of humor and emotions always balances out the romance and other key elements of the story. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case for this story. Initially, I didn't connect with neither Dixon nor Fiona, but I figured that with time I would get there. But as the story progressed, I found myself growing more and more frustrated with them to the point where I didn't even invest myself in their story. Instead, I found my interest shifting to the cousins, especially Griff. I can't wait to read his story.

In Dixon's case, I just didn't understand his hang up about his mother--a woman who barely made an appearance but who supposedly played a key role in defining who he was. I didn't get it. I just kept thinking that he should grow up and get over it. Jeez! Then there was Fiona. I didn't know Fiona was part of a family in another of the author's series, so all the references about her family was lost on me. I tried following along, but there was too much to dig through and ultimately she wasn't that interesting a character so I didn't give it another thought and moved along.

Ultimately, this story wasn't all a bust. Like I said, I enjoyed the cousins and the premise made for an entertaining read. I just wish I could have enjoyed more of the romance aspect of the story. I do feel that as the first book in a series, MAMA'S BOY served its purpose. It introduced the key players for the upcoming book while setting the stage for the what's to come.

All in all, an okay read but not the romance for me.

A romantic comedy from Avery Flynn never fails to hit the spot. Her newest one also happens to be the first in her new series, Last Man Standing, which is about a set of cousins aiming to be, you guessed it, the last one standing in order to lay claim to the last Christmas gift their beloved grandmother left them before she passed. Naturally, they come up with a way to wheedle out the weakest ones by way of each of them coming up with dating profiles. They need to go on six dates and NOT fall in love. Easy-peasy since none of them are interested in settling down. At all.

The series starter, Mama's Boy, features Dixon Beckett, and the guy no longer believes in love and happily-ever-afters. So, this whole thing with his cousins should be no problem. He has no intention of falling in love. Of course, that was before he met Fiona Hartigan. Yep, THOSE Hartigans. These two were complicated from the get-go, particularly because of what motivated Fiona to choose Dixon on that dating app. There's a lot of lighthearted moments throughout the book, but there's also a pinch of angst, which I'm certainly not complaining about. Avery Flynn has gotten her Last Man Standing series off to a good start, which is why it gets four stars. I cannot wait to read the next book!

Thank you to Entangled and NetGalley for the gifted copy.

I have long been a fan of the Harbor City/Hartigan universe and have read the different series multiple times. Mama's Boy follows Dixon, whose wife died shortly into their short marriage and in return, he is bound and determined not to love again. If you don't love again, you won't risk being hurt. Fioana Hartigan is tired of being taken advantage of by the wrong guys. When the two match on Bramble, they agree to the app's six date rule, because they both want something out of the deal. Dixon wants to win the mysterious gift his grandmother left after her death and Fiona wants a contract for her grandma's beauty line. What neither count on is involving their hearts.

While this was not my favorite of this universe, it was a fun, short read. I enjoyed getting in Fiona's head and seeing her away from the loud Hartigan family dynamic. Getting glimpses of characters we've met in past books was so fun, but you can still read this book as a standalone (though I highly recommend reading the different series in order). The chapters are short, which kept the book moving quickly. I loved Dixons sweet acts of love for Fiona in order to show her just how "seen" she is to him.

Thanks to Entangled and NetGalley, too,
For my copy of this book, here's my honest review:

A new series by Avery Flynn?
Go on, please ensure you count me in!
Her books are always full of fun
And leave me smiling when I've done.

So glad reading this one proved me right,
Another hot read that's really a delight.
With a CEO, a powerful man, who'll find
He's manipulated by his cousins who aren't very kind.

And the heroine is a teacher, trying to be tough
Determined to get him to make him listen could be rough
But family is first for both of these
And the cousins are setting them up to please.

With lots of fun, family, life lessons and laughter
This is a story to remember long after.
So glad it is the first one in a series of three
I can't wait to read the others and any revenge dates to see!

4.4⭐️
I’m definitely going to pick up the next book.

This was funny and sweet with a hint of spice. Had all the glorious aspects of the meddlesome family trope. A hint of character from a grandma. A splash of real but also fake dating. And one … bed?

Give it a go, you’ll enjoy it.

Thanks Entangled Publishing for the copy in exchange for this honest review

Fiona is furious that her meetings with the CEO of Beckett Cosmetics keeps getting cancelled. So when she sees his profile on a dating site she decides to respond and get her time with him. Even though his profile seems to be looking for a horrible person who hates dogs, tipping, humor, and eating for pleasure.

Dixon has a bet going with his cousins and has to respond to the first person who messageshim, and not fall in love. He has been burned before and decides in order to win the bet he is going to seek out the worst person so he doesn't fall in love. He is suspicious when the person who responds seems to be faking.

Since he has to go on all six dates they agree to the terms and the dates are set-up by the cousins. When they realize they are a little more attracted then they thought they agree to some added benefits. Since both families are on the larger size, they don't fail to get involved and provide shenanigans.

Dixon tries to be a hard edged guy but he is just a soft cinnamon roll on the inside. Getting taken advantage previously, he is trying to build a tough wall but that just means he falls harder. With a grand gesture at the end, he knocks it out of the park.

I received an arc from the publisher via NetGalley, all opinions are my own and given freely.

This book was sooooo much fun! I'm a huge fan of Avery Flynn and she seems to outdo herself with every new published book. I loved the enemies to lovers trope!! Who doesn't love a book with a Hartigan in it?

The heroine Fiona was probably one of my favorite Hartigan. I like that she had a softer side than many of her brothers and sisters. At first, I didn't like the hero, Dixon, but that's just because he kept hurting Fiona. However, I also understand that's the purpose of the book—to take the reader on an emotional ride. The author succeeded in doing just that. This book was well written with lots of great conflict. It kept me reading well into the night. I honestly recommend all of Avery Flynn's books. Like I said in the beginning, they are just plain fun romances with lots of heart. Huge thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for allowing me to read and review this book.

I have been looking forward to reading Mama's Boy and the two other books in Avery Flynn's Last Man Standing series. This one did not disappoint and I can't wait to read the others.

Fiona and Dixon were some of the most relatable characters I have read in awhile. Each was doubting themselves and relationships due to their past experiences, but they were so perfect together. I loved the humor and sweet moments they shared. Fiona is a Hartigan and where they go hilarity follows.

Even though I was frustrated with Dixon a bit during the conflict, I could understand why he reacted how he did. It did lead to an epic HEA so I can't complain too much.

I am really looking forward to the next book!

I was so happy to see Avery Flynn’s new book was featuring a Hartigan! I love that family and I am making my way through all of their stories.
I loved reading all about Dixon and his relationship with his cousins Nash and Griffin. Their bond is really sweet and together they are hilarious. I love the whole bet idea. It made a interesting story and I got very involved. I couldn’t wait to see how it would all play out in the end.
Dixon’s relationship with his mom is everything! I especially liked that even though they are wealthy the whole family is still down to earth.
I absolutely adored the bond between Fiona and her sister Faith and her best friend Hadley. They lift Fiona up when she is down and are her biggest cheerleaders.
May we all have people that do that for us!
Dixon and Fiona’s relationship was really cute. I loved their first date as it was hilarious how the two of them are lying to each other. I liked how they are both empathetic and truly care about each other’s problems. Also the steam scenes were everything!
Definitely recommend reading this new series to all!

Full of laughter, sass and so much heart! Avery Flynn is bringing on the fun with her new Last Man Standing series. Fans will be delighted to see the Hartigan family in all their glory showing up in MAMA'S BOY and amid the hilarity and angst, a truly adorable couple shines.

Fiona has a heart of gold, but nothing is going to stand in her way from getting her Nana the opportunity of a lifetime, so operation hijinx is in full effect.

Dixon is successful and accomplished but a treasured memory is worth putting it all on the line for in a bet with his cousins.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a romance filled with fun and laughter as true connections are made and hearts fall hard for each other. I'm looking forward to the series!

A great read!

Fiona has her own reasons for agreeing to date Dixon, just as he has his own reasons for wanting to date her for 6 dates and no more. But as they spend time together soon their agenda don't seem important any more, but Fiona has a secret and Dixon won't react well to it given his past.

Both characters are great, and you hope it will all work out for them.

Looking forward to the next books in this series.

Winning is everything to Dixon and when he enters into a bet with his two cousins for his late grandma’s final Christmas gift he knows he will win. The bet, be the last man standing by not falling in love by Christmas. Easy for Dixon because he swore off love and dating ever again after the death of his wife. Agreeing to the terms of the bet, he sets up his dating profile so horribly that the only woman who would response would be someone he wouldn’t remotely fall for. Fiona has had it with men and being too nice that she’s decided to reinvent herself. In a cookie dough induced rage she opens her dating app set to delete it forever when she comes across Dixon’s profile, the man who has been brushing her business meetings off and her wheels start spinning. What ensues between Dixon and Fiona becomes an all out war to win their respective bets but keeping their eye on the prize presents a challenge.

What started out as clear fake dating quickly became something more as the lines blurred because of their obvious attraction and witty banter. Dixon and Fiona both challenged each other in more ways than one making their bet a clear struggle for them. Their chemistry is steamy, intense and honest. They both opened up to each other and you can’t help but root for them. If you love a good fake dating trope with witty banter and steamy chemistry, read this book and the next books in this series following Dixon’s cousins and their silly bet!

Thank you @entangled_publishing and @netgalley for this eARC in exchange for my honest feedback!

Dixon and his cousins want the last gift left by their grandma, no matter they don’t know what’s in it. So they make a last man standing bet and everyone has to go on 6 dates. Dixon’s profile bio is horrible, but Fionas been trying to get some face time with him to pitch her Nana’s skin care line, and this seems like the perfect opportunity to meet him. And when he asks her to six dates to win the bet she agrees in exchange for a favor.
This book is an absolutely delightful read and I loved it. It is a pretty fast paced read, a fake dating turned more story, with some funny situations and amazing characters. Dixon and Fiona are kind of kindred spirits and perfect for each other. They share some too hot to handle chemistry and I enjoyed them first trying to fight it and later giving into it. I didn’t want Mamas boy to end and now I can’t wait to read the next in the series.

Mama's Boy is a hilarious and charming fake relationship romance. Avery Flynn continues to shine with her witty, flirty, and comedic writing.

Dixon Beckett is the CEO of a prominent beauty business. He is sexy and charming which all the ladies appreciate. But he makes things clear: he will never allow himself to fall in love again. So, when he and his cousins make a bet to be the last single man of the three, he thinks he's got this in the bag. Part of the bet means going on six dates with the first woman to respond to him on a dating app. That person is Fiona Hartigan. Fiona is like Dixon in the sense that they don't feel like love is in the cards for them anymore. Dixon is upfront with her about the bet and she agrees with the condition that she can ask for a favor in return no questions asked.

They have an instant attraction and it is entertaining to watch them try to fight it. I liked the idea of them going on dates that shouldn't lead to anything more because it allowed them to open up with one another. As they get to know each other, they see the heartbreak they have both faced in their lives. Together they provide so many funny, awkward, and sexy moments. I love their connection and soon they realize that it will be hard to say goodbye. Is winning the bet worth it?

I give Mama's Boy 5 stars. It is a cute rom-com that had me hooked from the start. I love Avery Flynn and it is a great start to the series. I am looking forward to reading the entire series as it comes out. If you enjoy a romance where you can laugh and swoon, then this is perfect for you!

If you love a romance that makes you laugh out loud this is the book for you!

Dixon Beckett and his cousins want to win the last gift from their grandmother so they decide to have a last man standing dating contest where they have to have six dates with the first person that responds to their profile and Dixon's is horrible. Only problem is his cousins get to plan the dates for him and he wants to win the gift.

Fiona Hartigan is tired of dating assholes so she decided to be the new Fiona and date without falling in love but she notices Dixon Beckett on the app and she's been trying to get a meeting with him about her grandmother's skin care line but he's canceled all three times. Maybe she could use the dates to get a chance to pitch the skin care line?

Just what could go wrong with this plan?

I have loved every book that Avery Flynn writes about the Hartigan family because there are benefits to having a huge family that cares!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
