The Real Food Dietitians: The Real Food Table: 100 Easy & Delicious Mostly Gluten-Free, Grain-Free, and Dairy-Free Recipes for Every Day: A Cookbook
For everyone who wants to eat healthier, or for those families with a member who must eat a special diet such as nut-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, etc., this is a cookbook to notice. Included are dozens of recipes – some unique, and some classics made healthier – for everyone. Some are recipes that are tried and true, i.e., the famous broccoli salad that most of us have been serving for decades. In this case, the authors have gone overboard – my family did not appreciate the reduced mayonnaise and lack of sugar. Some of the recipes have been healthified and are still good; some, not so good. The recipes are written in the traditional form, and are easy to follow. They are also mostly quick and easy to prepare with easy-to-find ingredients that are generally on most pantry shelves or already in the fridge and freezer. Many of the recipes will appeal to even picky eaters, so most cooks will want to prepare several recipes from this cookbook.; It is very helpful that each recipe is marked as to which special diet it conforms to.

Not only are these recipes healthified, they make good use of slow cookers and Instant Pots, as well as easy sheet pan dinners. This makes for big time savings. Especially on weeknights when time is at a premium. Many of the dishes are pictured, and the photographs are beautiful.

Since there are enough really good and appealing recipes to prepare, this cookbook is a winner.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

I was pleasantly surprised with the variety of recipes. I especially loved the options for including and omitting certain ingredients. I was expecting the recipes to be full of hard to find ingredients or things my picky family would not eat. It was nice to find so many recipes that my family will eat.

The Real Food Dietitians: The Real Food Table: 100 Easy Delicious Mostly Gluten-Free, Grain-Free, and Dairy-Free Recipes for Every Day: A Cookbook introduces healthy eating in a way that is exciting and inspiring. There is a symbol breakdown at the beginning, giving identifiers like GF for Gluten Free or EF for Egg Free. With these symbols at the top of each recipe, readers can, at a glance, know whether a recipe fits into their individual eating plan. As someone who has been dairy free since young adulthood, but recently developed gluten sensitivity, I really like how this cookbook works both of my limitations into delicious recipes. There is a four week dinner plan for those wanting the guesswork taken out of what to make, as well as important pantry staples and essentials to have on hand. My favorite part of this cookbook are the tip boxes, with important information and great hints for success.

The recipes are separated into logical sections, which I have listed below along with some of the standout dishes.

Breakfast and Brunch: Your Go-To Granola; Florentine Freezer Breakfast Sandwiches; Pumpkin Muffins with Toasted Pecans

Salads and Sides: Shredded Brussels Sprouts Salad with Citrus Vinaigrette; Mexican Street Corn Style Salad; Loaded Baked Potato Salad

Poultry Entrees: Homestyle Chicken and Rice Soup; Curried Chicken Salad; Greek Chicken Meatball Bowls with Tzatziki

Beef and Pork Entrees: Slow Cooker Irish Beef Stew; Sheet Pan Steak Fajitas; Beef and Broccoli; Sweet and Sour Pork

Fish and Seafood Entrees: Fish Tacos with Avocado Crema; Bruschetta Salmon

Meatless Entrees and More: Minestrone Soup; Mediterranean Pasta Salad; Rainbow Quinoa Bowls with Peanut Dressing

Appetizers and Drinks: Sticky Teriyaki Chicken Wings; Bacon Ranch Deviled Eggs; Mango Daiquiris; Dairy Free Nacho Cheese

Desserts and Sweet Snacks: Jammy Blueberry Pie Bars; Cowgirl Cookies; Trail Mix Granola Bars

Condiments: Greek Vinaigrette and Marinade; Homemade Barbecue Sauce; Quick Pickled Onions

Overall, there is a lot of recipes here that will appeal to a wide audience, even the pickiest of eaters. For this reason, I would recommend The Real Food Dietitians cookbook to other readers.

This is a well written cookbook for healthy, affordable gluten free food that looks delicious. I like the fact that many items are easily acquired and not overly expensive. There are many recipes that I look forward to trying.

So many healthy meal options! Most cookbooks claim to be "healthy" but feature recipes full of sugar or fat, but this one was actually healthy - and delicious.

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. This was an okay cookbook but not my favorite. There were a few recipes I would like to try but not enough for me to purchase the book for myself.

Looking for some new recipes to try out over break? Consider options in THE REAL FOOD DIETITIANS: THE REAL FOOD TABLE by Jessica Beacom and Stacie Hassing. It's a new cookbook featuring "100 Easy & Delicious Mostly Gluten-Free, Grain-Free, and Dairy-Free Recipes for Every Day." The authors are both dieticians, so they label each recipe as gluten-free, vegetarian, grain-free, vegan, dairy-free, etc. and offer suggestions for substitutes within the recipes which also have nutrition information appended. The cookbook could benefit from more photos and the sections are not unique (e.g., breakfast food, salads and side, entrees involving poultry, beef or pork, and seafood, plus appetizers, desserts and drinks), but the recipes tend to use standard ingredients and often require an hour or less for preparations and cooking; big pluses to me. In particular, I am looking forward to trying Slow Cooker White Chicken Chili with White Beans; Turkey Mushroom Lettuce Wraps; Sheet Pan Steak Fajitas; and Bruschetta Salmon – to mention just a few. Interested? Fans can also follow The Real Food Dieticians blog for more recipes and images.

If you or a family member have special dietary needs, or if you're looking for healthy meal options, check out The Real Food Dietitians: The Real Food Table. Despite the slightly awkward title, the recipes here are approachable and mostly use common ingredients. (Exceptions include coconut aminos, a soy sauce alternative which I guarantee no store in my small town carries.) There are recipes for every meal of the day, with suggested meal plans. Some of them require special equipment like an instant pot or a slow cooker, but there are plenty of options that just need an oven--or no cooking at all. I'm planning to try the best broccoli salad and the Florentine breakfast freezer sandwiches first.

5 healthy, inclusive, food-sensitive-friendly stars!

Thank you to NetGalley and Simon Element, S&S/Simon Element for providing a digital copy to review~

I love this cookbook. I love that it's full of amazing, delicious, healthy recipes. I love it even more so because of its inclusivity in regards to those who may be have restrictions with gluten, grains, dairy, and other animal products. Recipes show where substitutions or leave-outs may be utilized, which is helpful and again, inclusive. There are not nearly enough cookbooks out there that cater to everyone while catering to those with sensitivities and/or dietary preferences.

Definitely recommend this cookbook as a staple!

As someone who is trying to eat healthier this year as I get both my mind and my brain better I loved this books by Beacom and Hassing. Their healthy but still delicious and easy to make recipes were a bright spot for me this past month. The photos in the book are also stunning.

This cookbook has a wonderful variety of recipes that are designed to be adapted easily to fit different eating styles. Whether you're vegan, gluten free, dairy free or another option, you will most likely find a way to adapt the recipes in this book to fit your lifestyle with just the change of one or two ingredients that the authors suggest.

This book contains not only tantalizing and satisfying recipes, the authors also provide wonderful commentary, pictures and tips. Their passion about food and helping people find healthy ways to enjoy it comes across on each page. Another plus is the ease involved in making most of these recipes.

I'm happy to add this one to my person collection and look forward to sampling many of these recipes in the near future. The first recipe up on my personal menu will be the Chicken Corn Chowder. It sounds fabulous and can be made in either the slow cooker or the instant pot which are both two of my favorite kitchen appliances.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC. I voluntarily chose to read and review it and the opinions contained within are my own.

Easy, healthy, delicious and accessible meals for you and your family! The Real Food Table will be a resource you reach for over and over again. I’ve cooked my way through several of the recipes…and honestly, looked forward to the leftovers just as much as the original meal. The recipe options are incredible and guilt-free!

I'm always on the lookout for recipes that fit into my semi-restrictive diet, but unfortunately I didn't really find what I was looking for in this one. Several of the recipes include processed meats, which is fine if you can eat them, but I was more thrown by the fact that one recipe called for sausage as an ingredient and another recipe said the sausage was being homemade to avoid preservatives, fillings, and sugars. I did enjoy the very useful tips at the end of each recipe and storage tips for leftovers. Overall, a cookbook full of staple recipes, just maybe not the perfect one for me without some ingredient adjustments on my end.

I have followed the authors' blog for a long time and some of my favorite recipes have come from it, so I was so excited to get the chance to review their cookbook. I love browsing through cookbooks, and one of the most important things to me with a cookbook like this is that the recipes are easy to follow, the ingredients are easy to find, and the food itself is attainable for the average reader. This book ticks all those boxes. I've already made a few of the salads and have one of the main meals on the menu for this week. This will definitely be one of my favorites!

I’ve been a big fan of The Real Food Dietitians for awhile, frequenting their Instagram page and blog for delicious recipes, tips, and tricks. When Stacey and Jess announced they wrote a cookbook, I was ecstatic! Thank you to Simon Element and NetGalley for an e-copy in exchange for a review.

I love that they don’t push diet culture - just real, whole, nutritious food that they make it delicious and easy while catering to a variety of dietary restrictions. There’s really something for everyone at the real food table.

I’m used to cookbooks having a photo for every recipe, so I missed that aspect, but this cookbook will quickly become a staple in my kitchen!

I enjoy that the recipes aren't adhering to any trendy diet rules, but focus on nutrient-dense whole foods, but most of the recipes are very generic. Most people have already found meatloaf, taco, and chili recipes that they are happy with. I'm not suggesting anyone needs to reinvent the wheel, but most of this is standard fare.
