📖My Thoughts📖

Ok, so as corny as this sounds, I think that the whole “wrong number” trope thing is one of THE best tropes evah (yes I meant to spell it like that). Seriously though. Who doesn’t love how fun these wrong number calls/texts tropes turn out? It’s like THE cutest! This one was right up there with the others I’ve read. It was so fun and entertaining and honestly just the thing I needed right now! I love how some authors can make such a simple storyline so enjoyable that it’s almost as if you were slapped with a happy stick! Was it predictable? Pretty much, yes, but I seriously just loved it! It was a quick and easy read, fairly fast paced and just heart warming. If you’re in the mood for a quick feel good book to read while all snuggled up and relaxing with nice hot beverage, this will surely suit your fancy!
Thank you Netgalley, Headline and Cara Bastone for the opportunity to read and review this delightful book! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Mixed feelings; it was fun and well paced but there were parts I just felt like I had to skim through as I wasn't entirely invested

I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

It was a very cute read. I enjoyed it quite a lot and read it in a matter of two days. It touched the subject of dyslexia that I never saw before in any books. I‘m definitely will look out for other books in the series.

Sweet Talk by Cara Bastone is a charming and delightful contemporary romance that will leave readers with a warm and fuzzy feeling. With a unique premise and endearing characters, Bastone weaves a sweet and heartwarming story of unexpected connections and the power of love.

The story revolves around Dominic and Emma, two individuals with vastly different personalities and life experiences. Dominic is a charismatic radio host known for his smooth-talking ways, while Emma is a down-to-earth and practical woman who values stability. When their paths cross and they find themselves spending time together, a spark ignites, leading to a journey of self-discovery and a deepening connection.

Bastone excels at creating complex and relatable characters. Dominic's charm and wit make him an instant hit with readers, while Emma's relatability and vulnerability make her a character to root for. One of the highlights of Sweet Talk is the way Bastone explores the theme of self-acceptance and embracing one's true self. Both Dominic and Emma have their own insecurities and past traumas that they must confront, leading to personal growth and newfound confidence. Their emotional journeys are beautifully portrayed, adding depth and authenticity to the story.

The romance between Dominic and Emma is both sweet and steamy. Bastone expertly balances moments of tenderness and passion, creating a believable and captivating love story. The slow-burn aspect of their relationship adds to the anticipation and keeps readers engaged.

The incorporation of radio segments throughout the narrative adds a unique touch and provides insights into Dominic's world.

While the pacing of the story is generally well-handled, there are moments when the plot feels slightly predictable. Some readers may find certain aspects of the story familiar within the romance genre. However, the strong characterization and the chemistry between the main characters make up for any predictability.

Overall, Sweet Talk is a delightful and heartwarming romance that will leave readers with a smile on their faces. The cutest book I’ve read in a while!! I absolutely adored this story with my whole heart.

Thank you to Cara Bastone for creating this book, I definitely needed to read this fluffy, fun book and am so glad I received this copy of Sweet Talk in exchange for an honest review.

I was in awe over the connection with our two main characters, JD and Eliot. I shall call her JD otherwise a big part of the plot will be given away; JD is an absolute badass who is incredibly loyal and strong and I immediately enjoyed reading from her perspective. As for Eliot, he was such a sweetheart and I definitely fell for this character and his kind and genuine heart. He was everything I could’ve hoped for in this story.

I really enjoyed reading from dual perspectives between JD and Eliot as I love to see two sides of the story, I find it gives you the full scope of how each of them are feeling.

I found myself smiling from ear-to-ear with a couple of gasping and laugh out loud moments too. I hope to read more by Cara Bastone soon!

📚📚📚📚🎧 Audiobook Review🎧📚📚📚📚🤯

Happy Sunday #bookishbesties💕 well we are on Sunday , and the weekend isn't long enough.
But .. I happily binged the entire @carabastone Love Line series on Audible ..three books of 15 hours of bliss.
If you have ever watched Love Is Blind on Netflix.. these two books have that theme in common. Imagine spending hours a day/ night completely getting to know someone. No pressure on what your wearing, what you do on a date, forget the jitters of not making a good impression.

#sweettalk ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫
Meet Jesse and Elliott. Elliott is Vera's brother and Kals best friend. The naration done by Jessie is as great as Zachary Weber in Seatmate...she definitely exudes a Julia Roberts voice from Mystic Pizza with a personality of Jessica Jones..extremely Brooklyn tough girl motorcycle riding , works out at a boxing gym, Superintendent of Elliott's apt. He had saved her in his phone as a bunch of random letters because 1 he is dyslexic and 2 he met her the night his apt was robbed. The night he sends her a random text starts a beautiful relationship the first night them talking till wee hours of the morning he thought he was texting his sister and Jesse plays along till he figures it out. This couple is special..the narration makes you forget this is a book and not an epic movie .
I loved the honesty, the vulnerability the two characters showed each other. I loved that Elliott didnt hide his neurodiversity, didnt hide his anxiety and PTSD from the night they met. I loved the points game Jessie played with him trying to get him to guess who she was, without giving it all away.
This author does a deep dive into NYC .. i was on the street smelling the street vendors, smelling the beach at Far Rockaway when Jesse took a night drive. I loved the family closeness both characters had, and the crossover characters Vera Elliott's sister, Kal Elliott's bff were right there for him in this book. This book was the damn wqrm hug you need after a long week. I fell in love right a long with them.. BOOK 4 please!!!!!!

I am not leaving a review due to the fact that this book did not interest me enough to finish the story.

I really enjoyed this wrong number romance from the get go.

Elliot (who is dyslexic) accidentally messages a contact in his phone one night that he'd saved under a bunch of random letters and the heroine (J.D) responds, knowing exactly who it is. From there it's a cute guessing game as the two get to know each other more through texts and phone calls ad Elliot tries to figure out who he could possibly be texting. The fact that this is set in NYC makes it all the more charming, and their little opposites attract storyline had me melting.

It's definitely G-rated though so if you're looking for something a little more steamy this one might not be for you.

Perfect for those who love:
- wrong number romance
- sweetie pie hero
- badass heroine
- opposites attract
- NYC setting

All in all, would recommend! Thanks to NetGalley and Audible for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I really enjoyed this book…right until the very end! I loved the concept, I liked the characters, I did predict the twist but it still didn’t ruin it. I just felt at the end, the male main character lost his way. He started off this cool, charming, hunky guy and at the end he just turned a bit too ‘mushy’ and that was a bit of a let down to me. Overall though I really enjoyed it and I would recommend to friends.

Bastone can do no wrong and this books was wonderful!! It was originally written for narration so the banter and talk between the MCs is next level. I can't wait to pick up my next Bastone!

Ahhh. I loved this book even more than the first one. This one focuses on Eliot (Vera from the first book's brother) and Jessie. I really loved the characters. They feel so real. Cara really knows how to develop characters and have great banter.

Like the first one, this whole book pretty much takes place over phone calls. He doesn't know who she is for a while because he put random letters in his phone for her name. This is a funny, sweet, and fast read. Highly recommend!

Thank you so much to NetGalley. The author, and Headline for this ARC.

I just adored the characters in this book. They were vulnerable and real, and funny! This whole book basically takes place via text and phone calls, and if you’ve known me for more than five minutes you’ll know that good banter in books is my absolute favorite thing. This author really knows how to write good dialogue! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If you're looking for fast, super-adorable and funny rom-com - Sweet Talk is ticket! I graciously received a copy through NetGalley and Headline publishers and thoroughly enjoyed the read.

Ever get a text meant for someone else? What if that turned into a nightly conversations with someone you don't know? Sweet Talk is sort of this - I say "sort of" because only one person is in the dark! Jesse receives a text in the middle of the night from her crush, Eliot, by mistake. As she responds and they flirt, she realizes that though she knows exactly who he is, he doesn't have a clue who she is.

What proceeds is so sweet and adorable - the dual POV making it that much more fun and flirty and interesting, since we see both sides. Eliot is a cinnamon roll through and through - dorky, sweet, affable, nerdy. And Jesse is an uber-capable bad-ass - it's the reverse grumpy-sunshine, for me, honestly.

There is not overt steam so if you really want the smut, this might not be the one for you. But if you're looking for a genuine connection and loving humor, this is a great read!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ALC in exchange for an honest review.

This was such a cute story! It was a very YA romance but the characters were adults, so this is billed as adult romance. It does not go any furrhter than kissing though, so appropraite for YA as well. It was adorable and short, a super quick and mindless read, but oh so sweet!

So much fun! The way this story starts as a random accidental text that just kept going. The whole forbidden love aspect was so interesting, and finding out why it was forbidden and just being able to see the attraction develop between these characters was just so great. Also female handy person representation? Love to see it.

Call Me Maybe was adorable and wonderful and just flipping amazing, and then Cara Bastone goes and writes Sweet Talk, and I am just done for. Preface: the Love Lines series was written purposefully as audiobooks; however, I have real trouble listening to books because of my dyslexia, so I read the kindle versions instead. I imagine that listening to these books is even more perfect than reading them.

Sweet Talk follows Eliot Hoffman, brother to Vera from the first book. Eliot is the softest of soft boys; he's genuinely dreamy, cute, polite, charming and dorky; he is the opposite of Jessica, our other MC. Jessica is a badass, a hot biker chick with tattoos, piercings, and a boxer. Can she be any cooler? Um, yes, she's fiercely loyal, totally independent and a DIY-handyman-boss-babe. These two. *chef's kiss*.

The book starts with a classic case of mistaken identity, Eliot, meaning to text someone else, accidentally sends a message to Jess and thus begins their insomnia-driven-friendship. One of my favourite things about both Love Lines books is the phone calls. I adore them. It's such a unique and quirky way to write a book, and it's just perfect. I loved being a part of their conversations and seeing their friendship (and relationship) develop. Eliot doesn't know Jessica's identity until about 70% of the way through, but being the genuine guy he is, just makes the whole relationship that much cuter! I would 10/10 recommend both Call Me Maybe and Sweet Talk. You will not be disappointed.
