I have read many of Beth's books and enjoyed them all but this one is even better. Her books always leave you with a good feeling. This book does that but also has more twists and turns. I was really surprised by some of the events. I also liked that she had Esther and Lizzie from her Amish Inn books brought back. I laughed out loud at their antics in the Amish Inn series. Loved it!

The Bookseller’s Promise is the first in a new series from author Beth Wiseman. Yvonne Wilson travels to Indiana in an attempt to purchase a rare book for a client. The owner of the book, Jake Lantz, refuses to sell the book due to a promise made to his grandfather.

While this is a romance there is also a mystery woven throughout the plot. I enjoyed the overall storyline of the book. There’s a good balance between all three of the main characters. I hope that Yvonne’s story carries over into the next book.

I found the first half of the book to be slow but that could be due the amount of background information given. There were some supernatural elements that some readers may be uncomfortable with as they are not typical of this genre.

There is a bit of a cliffhanger ending so I look forward to reading the next book in The Amish Bookstore series.

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
One book could change so many lives for the better. Great story and Beth had a way of making the reader connect with the characters. The transformation for Yvonne to get herself back into the Bible was great.
Nice read.

This is the first novel in the new Amish Booksellers Series. Yvonne Wilson is a book broker. A client has requested a rare book. The search for the book leads her to an Amish bookstore. The owner of the bookstore, Jake Lantz, promised his grandfather that he would never sell the book.
Yvonne, who is engaged to be married, finds herself being drawn to Jake Lantz and the Amish way of life. Jake’s coworker Eva has secretly longed for a romantic relationship with Jake. However, Jake is oblivious to her feelings.
Will Jake sell the book to Yvonne? What will transpire between Jake and the two women.? As the story unfolds, they discover more about themselves and each other. The rare book causes them to question their faith and changes their lives in ways they cannot imagine.

I enjoy Amish-themed novels, and I've read and enjoyed many of Wiseman's books in the past. I love the bookish angle to this plot! It was interesting to discover the reason why Jake's grandfather didn't want him to sell the book. I didn't connect with the characters as much as I'd hoped/expected, but things did wrap up nicely in the end.

I loved this book! Received ARC from Zandervan publisher via Netgallery. Any review is solely my opinion and i receive no compensation.
This is the first book in The Amish Book Store Novels by Beth Wiseman.
Jake inherited the bookstore from his grandfather, along with a special book he promised not to sell. Yvonne, an English book trader seeks this rare book for her client, willing too pay thousands for it. She arrives in Montgomery, Indiana thinking she can sweet talk this handsome Amish man into selling it.
Jake's employee Eva befriends Yvonne and when a traumatic event occurs, she is there to help her new friend. Upon returning to TX, Yvonne finds this rare book in her suitcase put there by Jake. It is the story in the book that reaches the hearts of all involved that changes their lives. There are a few more story lines in this book that will likely be told in forthcoming books. You can't put this book down with all the suspense.

I received a complimentary ARC of The Bookseller’s Promise by Beth Wiseman from Zondervan through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my ownI enjoyed this story very much about an Amish man who owns a bookstore. Jake inherited the bookstore from his grandfather many years ago. He runs the bookstore with the help of Eva who began working with him when she was 15 years old. She is now 19 and has grown into a beautiful woman. Jake likes her very much but his friend John has told him that he wants to marry Eva when he is financially able. John has finally made his move and has asked Eva out on a date. Jake is devastated and is unsure what to do. In addition to Jake’s dilemma with Eva, he has received a letter from a woman who wants to buy a book that his grandfather gave him many years ago. This book is a very rare, autographed copy and Yvonne has offered him a great deal of money if he will sell it to her for her client. Jake wrote back and told her know that the book was not for sale. Yvonne has decided to come to the store from Texas and talk Jake into selling. While she is there the three become good friends. If you are a fan of Amish fiction I highly recommend this book and I am very excited to have found a new author and series to get into.

I was so excited to see that Beth Wiseman continued this series - changing the lead characters but still throwing in the ladies from the Inn. I laughed my way through their interaction and loved the storyline between Eva and Jake. This one will make you laugh, cry and feel inspired all at the same time, I simply can NOT wait for the next book as I know the town sheriff will be involved!!!!! Beth keeps cranking out these amazing stories left and right and in snap them up as soon as they are available - and so should you! You will fall in love with all of the characters and their stories. They are likable and you just can’t stop reading until you know what happens. (Which is probably why I didn’t put this book down for three days until I knew what happened!) Grab this one and also read her other books about the Peony Inn. Plan to fall in love with all of it!

The Bookseller’s Promise is an impressive beginning to the Amish Bookstore series. This heart-warming story, centered around a mysterious rare book, drew me in from the beginning and kept me interested to the final page. The two storylines, one featuring book broker Yvonne Wilson and the other featuring Amish bookseller Jake Lantz and his employee Eva Graber, intertwine beautifully. It was fun to reconnect with matchmaking sisters Lizzie and Esther from a previous series. Lizzie’s antics made me laugh out loud! With a compelling cast of characters, an intriguing plot, sweet romance, and a strong faith element, this book is bound to please lovers of Amish fiction. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to the next book in the series by this talented storyteller.

Another great book by Beth Wiseman! This is a wonderful start to a new series. While I enjoyed the story of Jake and Eva and the mystery book of his that he promised his grandfather that he wouldn’t sell, Yvonne’s story intrigued me and I’m really hoping to see more of her in the next book. It was also fun to see the sisters, Lizzie and Esther, of Peony Inn pop in a couple times.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review. All opinions are my own.

Yvonne Wilson comes to Indiana to a Amish book store to buy a book the owner said he would not sell. She wants to buy the book for a high price for her client. Jake Lantz told her he will not sell the book because he promised his deceased Grandfather he would not sell the book. Eva who works for Jake loves him for years when they decide to read the book together to see what the mysterious powers of the book is Eva hopes that Jake would see her as a grown women and not like a sister figure. This story was funny and sad and really well written to keep you wondering. The characters in the book were great. I really loved Eva.

Beautiful story of love and salvation. This is the first book in a new series, and I can't wait for the sequel! Jake owns the library, and Eva works there. She has a secret crush on Jake, but he appears not to notice her. An 'Englisher' , Yvonne offers to buy a rare book that she finds out Jake own. However, Jake is adamant against selling. Can Jake keep his promise as Yvonne offers more and more money? Will Eva finally be noticed, or will she marry someone else?
The rare book holds the key to the love and salvation that is found.

What a wonderful book for a librarian to read. This is Beth’s first book in the Amish bookstore series.

Jake Lantz owns a bookstore and Eve is his employee. Eve has grown up working for Jake and all of a sudden she is now a young woman who has feelings for him and him for her but, Jake does not feel free to share his feelings for Eve because another young man in the community has made his desires known for her.

Jake has a book that his grandfather ask him never to sell. He is approached by an English salesman, Yvonne, Who offers him a huge sum of money. Although Jake refuses to sell, Yvonne pays a visit to the bookstore to try to convince him to sell the rare book.. While there, the three of them become friends.

When Yvonne has to return home due to some tragic news, the three stay In touch.

What part does this rare, very valuable book play in this play in this exciting story.?

Will Jake and Eve ever become more than friends?

This is the first in a new series by Beth Wiseman, titled Amish Bookstore. I enjoyed this book so much as there were so many things that happen during the book that keeps your undivided attention from the beginning to the end.

Bookstore owner, Jake Lantz, his employee, Eva who is attracted to Jake, and book buyer, Yvonne Wilson are the main characters in this book. Yvonne comes to Montgomery, Indiana to purchase a book for an unbelievable price that Jake owns. He had promised his grandfather that he would never sell the book. Just what is in this book that makes it so powerful and worth so much money? You will have to read this book to find out.

It is a book you will not want to put down until you have finished it to see how the relationships develop and what the power is that this book holds.

Yvonne is an English woman who is engaged to Trevor. She finds rare books for clients and has found the book that her client wants. Unfortunately, the Amish man, Jake, doesn't want to sell the book because he made a promise to his grandfather to never sell it.
I really enjoyed the premise of the book but unfortunately it did not capture my interest like I thought it would. I enjoyed how the ending tied it all together but it the boo9k was lacking for me in engagement.

Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. The opinions are my own.

This book is different than most of the Amish books I have read and it took me a couple of chapters before I became eager to see how the storyline would play out. I found the characters to be fascinating and their discussions often caused me to stop and reflect on what was being said. All in all, I found it to be very enjoyable.

I was given a copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher for my honest review and opinion.

This seemed like a very odd story at first but as I got into it I really enjoyed it. Beth Wiseman is a great teller of Amish tales and she really picks out interesting issues to write about. Apparently this is the first in a series so it will continue to be interesting. Jake Lantz runs a bookstore that he inherited from his grandfather. His employee Eva is a few years younger than him and came to work for him when she was just a teen. There is romantic interest between both of them but there are doubts on both sides about how to transition into a relationship. Meanwhile, Yvonne flies in to try to talk Jake into selling an old book he has in the basement that he promised his grandfather he would never sell. Yvonne has a client who is very anxious to own this very rare book. The story goes from there into a very twisted and complicated tale that still keeps you reading to the end. If you were wanting an uncomplicated, feel good tale, move away from this one. If you want an intriguing, thought-provoking story, grab this one.

I have voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All views expressed are only my own honest opinion.

I was expecting so much more from this book. It started off so well and just turned into a mushy mess. The ending was decent but trite.
What an utter disappointment.
