I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
Adeline has a history that she has overcome but will her past come in the way between her and Mac? Mac also has a sketchy past and pushes Adeline away to protect her.
Will these two realize they are better together than apart despite both their backgrounds?
Great read!

Another well written book by the very talented Katie Reus She is an author that always manages to stack so much suspense and dram into her books that you don't want to put them down until you turn he last page and this one is no exception

Adeline was recently kidnapped and she needs a place to destress so she heads to her friends cabin the only thing is wires get crossed and Mac a retired Marine also is heading to the cabin. Mac has been crushing on Adeline ever since she arrived in town but she wants nothing to do with starting a relationship When bad weather forces them back to town Adeline is stunned when Mac seems to be ghosting her not realising he is doing it to try to keep her safe after all he has enemies. However she is ion the bad guys radar now and Mac will have to keep her safe as well as his brothers Can they develop a future You will have to read to see

Excellent read. Not that I expected different froml a Katie Reus book. This one revolved around Adeline and Mac. They were attracted to each other, but Mac started avoiding her so she wouldnt be targeted by a drug dealer in town. It didn't work and they ended up working together to solve several crimes while getting to know each other and his brothers. She knew who them, but the got to know each other better
The storyline flowed well and the characters were great (except for the bad guys, of course). the suspense and drama were very good and the romance between Mac and Adeline was quite hot.

I got this book from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review

This romantic suspense keeps you interested from start to finish. There were times I did get confused when there were switched scenes and had to reread. But your brain flips quick and you are right back in the midst of the drama and trouble. You will love the characters and this series is one I look forward to reading more of. If you haven’t added this to your list you are missing out.

Adeline decides to take a short vacation to decompress at her friends cabin, Mac also has the same idea and their friends get some wires crossed and they wind up out at the cabin at the same time. A storm hits just as he arrives and after one night they have to evacuate the area due to flooding. Adeline was kidnapped last year and doesn't want to be alone if the power goes out, Mac, a former marine(who's been crushing on her hard) just wants to protect her so he drives them home. Once they are home, things like meth labs, mayhem and murder ensue.
This was an interesting read focusing more on the suspense plot than the romance aspect up until the last 35% of the story, which would normally annoy me but the suspense was interesting and well constructed, with just enough of a hint at a possible romance that it wasn't just out of left field when they finally hook up.
This was fun but I think I would have got more out of the story if I'd read the other books first, but I didn't realize this was book 3 till it was to late to turn back :)

Katie is such a talented writer and all of her stories draw you in from the beginning and keep you there until the very end. We met Adeline and Mac in earlier versions of this series, and although this book is a stand-alone I'd highly recommend you start with book one to get the full enjoyment from this one. These 2 find their groove, lose their groove and then find it again in an action-packed story. I loved this book and hope there are more in the series!

Katie always blows me away with her books and storylines. This book is no different. It's exciting and action packed at the right moments. The characters are great and I can't wait for the next book.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A fun read but I struggled to massively engage with the couple, though I really enjoyed the family dynamic with the his brothers.

I liked the build up to the relationship and how he had pursued her and not really given up, so when he walked away I didn’t really follow that part of the story.
I did think she needed to be a bit stronger in part, there were times she stood up for herself so well, then other she’d just cave.

Overall a good story

Silent Protector (Verona Bay Series #3) by Katie Reus
Publisher: KR Press, LLC
Genre: Romance
Publication Date: October 26, 2021

Silent Protector is the third book in the Verona Bay Series by Katie Reus. I have not read the previous books in the series (YET!) and I found this easy to read as a standalone romance.

I don't even know where to start! This book was so incredible that I could not put it down! Fast paced adventure, filled with suspense, mystery and a steamy romance! WOW!!!! I think I read the whole book in 2 hours!

The story was fascinating! The mystery was so well written and filled with suspense. I loved how this just grabbed me and would not let go! I was captivated by this book!

Also, I loved how this book is set in Florida, it was like going home for me! I will definitely be coming back to Verona Bay and I recommend that you do too!!!

I'm so grateful to Katie Reus, KR Press, LLC, and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this ARC ebook in exchange for my honest review.

4.25⭐

Silent Protector, book three in Katie Reus' Verona Bay series is an enjoyable story that wonderfully mixes intrigue, mystery and suspense with a slow burn romance and likable characters. And with a few edge-of-your-seat moments this was a story that kept me completely engaged from beginning to end, and one I'd happily recommend to others.

Adeline escaped a brutal relationship and moved to Verna Bay. Adeline is part owner of pet grooming service. The one thing she wants is Mac. Mac is former military but left when his parents died and he went from big brother to dad figure. He makes custom furniture and wants Adeline just as much as she wants him. Mac and Adeline are double booked in the same little house and are stranded when a rain storm hits. They decide to go out but when they get back, Mac cancels the date. Mac has some really bad guy after him and doesn’t want to get Adeline in any danger. But of course she gets noticed and Mac and Adeline go into hiding with Mac’s two brothers. Will they get their happily ever after?

Awesome love story. Just enough suspense and sex to keep it interesting. A crazy maniac after them.

ARC received for review

It was a whole lotta blah. Their relationship and chemistry (or lack thereof) plus the bad guy drama was eh. Overall not my favorite.

Silent Protector by K. Reus is book three in her Verona Bay Series. This is a stand-alone, but for best reading experience I recommend to read the books in order.
Adeline Rodriguez left her old life behind and moved to Verona Bay. Sh's now co-owner of a thriving business, life could be good. But burned and so she doesn't want a relationship anymore.
Mac Collins wants her but kept his distance, knowing she doesn't want a relationship.
Her actions bring danger to their doorstep and soon they're in the middle of a fast paced, action packed, complex and intense read that had me in suspense from the start, through the twists and turns til the last page and the well seserved hea. A fantastic read, 5 stars.

He’s her Protector😊

Mac and Adeline finally get their story in the third Verona Bay book and it’s everything I had hoped for❣️ Adeline decides to have some time away from the grooming business and takes up a friend’s offer to stay on the lake at their cabin. But unbeknownst to Adeline, the co-owner of the cabin has given another friend, Mac the go-ahead to stay at the cabin at the same time😁

Adeline and Mac have been avoiding each other after what happened to Mac’s brother and when Adeline didn’t seem to be interested in going on a date with him. But the more she gets to know him now at the cabin, the more she likes him🤩 Suffice to say someone from Mac’s past has come back and is intent on seeking his revenge and unfortunately, Adeline is also in the crosshairs of this mad person…including his brothers and Mac will do anything to protect them all😍

A wonderful story and series that I’m really enjoying and can only hope and pray for more. I received an advanced copy via Netgalley and voluntarily leave my honest review❤️

I’m loving this series, I love Verona Bay and it’s unlikely inhabitants, I love interconnected standalones and all the camaraderie that familiar characters bring to a story. Book 3 has Adeline Rodriguez facing her demons again when she’s unexpectedly caught in the crosshairs of a long standing yet forgotten battle between the delectable Mac Collins and his undeserving enemy. Max is everything you could wish for in a book boyfriend. He loves fiercely, he’s extremely protective of those he loves without being smothering, and he’s hot, hot, hot. When he finally gets a shot with Adeline he goes and blows it - all for her good of course. Sadly things don’t go according to plan for either of them and herein starts a rollercoaster ride of action, suspense and romance. Great characters, a riveting storyline, and wonderful writing, I loved it. I can’t wait for more from Verona Bay.

Silent Protector is the third book in the Verona Bay series. It can be read as a stand-alone but Mac and Adeline rescue of Mac’s brother Joe was in the previous book, Deadly Past. It’s not necessary to read but it is referred to and part of their story. I’ve really enjoyed this series and come to love the small town of Verona Bay. The characters are charming and genuine. I really came to love Mac’s character in the second book. He was so sweet and had given up his previous life to move back to Verona Bay and take care of his two younger brothers. His gruff personality made it hard to see how big his heart was but his determination to find his brother revealed he was just a big softy under the strong lumberjack image. Adeline had a hidden past that kept her from truly opening up. I loved seeing her overcome her fear and trust Mac with her past. This was truly an amazing book, and I cannot wait for the next book.

Mac and Adeline: Mac, the quiet former marine who has a talent with woodworking, and he's responsible for his two younger brothers. Adeline, the co-owner of a pet grooming business who has a secretive past. The attraction is immediate but there are a few obstacles in the way. When they are double booked at a friends cabin and bad weather causes them to stay together in that cabin, they finally open up only to be stalled again when danger threatens Mac and his family. The last thing he wants to do is get Adeline in danger after finding out about her past.

Mac is extremely protective of his Adeline and his brothers. He's what I call an Alpha Gentleman. It's a great mix of that dominant male who also displays gentlemanly behavior. He teaches his brothers the characteristics that woman like in a man. For example, learning how to cook and not to expect the woman to do it all. He's also very capable of keeping Adeline and his brothers safe. His military background had prepped him for the danger they encounter. He's a big part of why I enjoyed this book.

Adeline is also a heroine to admire. I was a bit surprised about a revealing secret towards the end of the book. She's been through something very traumatic and it only made her stronger. When she realized she was shying away from Mac to be safe, she pushed herself to take the leap. I liked her and I don't always like the heroines.

The more books we get in this small town setting, the more I want read about other couples. I love getting to know all the side characters and it helps to make the book feel familiar from the start.
