Adeline was such a feisty, independent and kick ass heroine. Honestly, I love Katie's heriones, they never show a hint of cowardice and go to to toe with their men. Mac was well sexy personified. I loved how he fought to show Adeline how good they could be and even when he tried pushing her away, you can see and feel the love he has for her. Another excellent read by Katie.

If you want to know what a non-toxic male hero is - pretty much read any KR book! They are protective of their loved ones, not oppressive. They shield and support, not demean and belittle.
Mac is just the latest in a long line of great male leads!

Mac and Adeline were almost a thing...but when Adeline steps back Mac does what you're supposed to do - gives her room. He's not given up, ust regrouping and waiting for a signal from her that she's open to being approached.

Then just when Adeline is ready for more, Mac has to shut down their potential because someone from his past is making trouble for the family again and he doesn't want Adeline to be in the middle of it! (Can I just say that Mac's younger brother seems to find trouble like a flaming bloodhound! LOL)

Adeline and Mac were just a brilliant combination, she was a perfect foil for the boys because she is not about to do anything to make them feel anything other than in awe of her and her awesomeness at games! They can get their big boy panties in wadd all the like - she will not let ANYONE win!

Great characters, snarky and witty dialogue. Always a sucker for the wrong place/right time storyline.

P.S. Do not get on the wrong side of the Sewing and Quilting group!

3 stars - I liked it

Adeline Rodriguez started her life over in Verona Bay. She has a successful business and has friends. The only thing left is a relationship and she wants Mac Collins. Unfortunately when she decides to take that leap it puts her in a dangerous situation.

This was another enjoyable romantic suspense for this series. Adeline has overcome her past but is still struggling to trust Mac, especially after making some mistakes. She was a very strong woman and I loved how she wasn’t afraid to protect herself if she needed to. I also enjoyed that the danger didn’t come from her past like a lot of romantic suspense romances where the woman is on the run.

Mac was a great hero. He has taken care of his brothers since his family died and is a very protective man. He is strong, kind, and very creative with his woodworking. I really liked him. He does make a few mistakes with Adeline but they work it out. These two were just a great couple with minimal angst between them.

Overall, this was a great book and a great couple. I look forward to seeing them pop up in future books. I also really enjoyed Mac’s brothers and wonder if they will have books in the future.

Trigger Warnings: Domestic abuse mentioned. Alcoholism referenced.

What a good story this is. Mac has a thing for Adeline but a person from his past is hunting him. There are fun moments, intense moments and scary moments. But in the end it was a happy ending. Loved Adeline's "Merry Christmas to me!".

If you’re looking for secrets and twists on top of danger, you’ve come to the right place! Adeline and Mac have circled each other a bit, have had missed chances, and are now smack dab in the middle of the perfect chance to be together. Until Mac uncovers a huge problem and essentially ghosts Adeline. And I wanted to cry for her because she absolutely didn’t deserve it. Like any rightfully angry woman would do, after trying to out the hurt behind her, Adeline has it out with Mac…and ends up in danger. So these two have to find a way to fix the mess they’re in while fighting their attraction. Or do they have to fight it? When the danger finds them, they make it through together and have to decide if they’re meant to be or only a flight brought on by adrenaline. Luckily, they come to the correct conclusions, so it’s all good here. Even with that last secret that I wasn’t quite expecting. And it’s twists like that one that keep me coming back for more of this author.

Silent Protector is the 3rd book in the Verona Bay Series, however the author is really good on making sure you don't have to read the book prior to understand the story. Adeline has always been somewhat elusive she has friends but doesn't necessarily talk about her past. She is really attracted to Mac a sexy carpenter who has asked her out but she declines because she is worried that not sharing information about her past sets is unfair to Mac and she doesn't want to be hurt again. Mac really likes Adeline and when an opportunity like being stuck in a cabin alone together presents itself he takes full advantage to get to know her and convince her to date him.

I like Adeline a lot, she is an interesting character with an intriguing past that has over come alot. Mac is just downright adorable and these two are great for each other. The story was really fun, exciting and enjoyable to read. Hoping for more in this series!

Silent Protector is book three in the Verona Bay series. This book references a lot of past incidents in the main characters life that it would be better read with the entirety of the series. Mac and Adeline have circled each other but not really dated. Their chemistry is off the charts but just when things seem to be coming together, Mac crosses a meth dealer. To protect Adeline, Mac cancels their second date and withdraws from Adeline but the bad guy already has her in his sights. Steamy and suspenseful, the story is easy to read and fast paced for an enjoyable romantic suspense with the requisite feel good HEA. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.

Another hit by Ms Reus. This is the third book in the Verona Bay series and this time we get Adeline and Mac's story.
Adeline has had a crush on Mac for some time and when she finally decides to go all in and go out with Mac on a date, he suddenly cancels it without giving a reason. She's really upset but doesn't know that the past has caught up with Mac and he doesn't want to endanger her.
When she goes to Mac to get some answers, she involuntarily gets pulled in Mac's troubles. They have to go in hiding together with Mac's brothers who are also threatened.
From then on we get a lot of action, some romance and of course a HEA, all typical Katie Reus style.

I have to be honest and say I liked this one less than the two previous ones, but it still kept my interest. I'm really looking forward to Katie's next book.

A huge thank you to the author and Netgalley for this opportunity to review.

There seemed to be too much jumping around. Also, as a spoiler,

why did they just let the informant who ratted on a man who's already murdered for the lolz go and not not put a man on the house? Or trail the girlfriend who picked him up in the middle of town?

'Silent Protector' is the third installment of the Verona Bay series written by Katie Reus. This book can be read as a stand alone, characters from other stories are mentioned, but not having read the first two books does not impact the story.

Mac Collins and his brothers have been through a lot in their lifetime. After losing their parents, Mac gave up his military career to raise his two younger brothers. Adeline Rodriguez has had a complicated life as well. She has recently moved to the quaint town of Verona Bay from Miami to start a small business with a friend.

Adeline was offered a quiet weekend away at a friend's cabin; Mac was given the same offer. Both attempt to make the best of their situation. Upon returning home to Verona Bay, evil from Mac's past returns to impact him and his brother's and he promises to protect Adeline.

I fell in love with Mac Collins and his two brothers. The relationship that Reus developed between the three was heartwarming and Adeline compliments and completes their family. This series has been on my to read list and I look forward to catching up.

Silent Protector (Verona Bay, #3) by Katie Reus
This is a great third book in this series - each can be read as a stand alone - but I recommend you read them all. Adeline Rodriguez and Mac Collins both have rough pasts and are very strong H and h. This book has updates on friends from the previous books, lots of violence, suspense with intrigue, angst, mixed with laughter, tears, love and steam to get us to lots of HEA. I hope there will be more stories of Verona Bay.
Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Unpredictable Wonderful characters Steamy Funny Happily Ever After Entertaining Great world building Page-turner Easy-to-read Action-packed Scary Tear-jerker Tragic Romantic

A couple they both knew, giving them a few days use of a cabin.
They just didn’t let each one know, leaving with torrential rain outside

Opening to telling her about her parents, the drinking.
His past comes back while there. Her past can she tell him what she did
Plot filled with suspense and romance. Letting go of the past to love again

The third installment of the Verona Bay series is a suspense filled page turner.
Mac and Adeline are thrown together in a secluded cabin and become friends. She has a lot of baggage from the past and is afraid of relationships Mac is a alpha sexy male. Breaking through her defense is his goal.

“Well, I’m about to take a hot bath, pour some wine, and curl up by the fire with a book. So bring on the jealousy.”

This is a slow burn romance with some crazy killer on the side. As always I look forward to what this series brings next.

Mac isn't the silent type. When he's in his military mode he's pretty silent though. Adeline is never quiet. That's probably one of the things that Mac likes about her. There is a lot of suspense and, Silent Protector. We know who the bad guy is we just never know when he's going to show up.

This book is a winner! Sexy and hot, this is Mac and Adeline's story. It begins when they are both allowed to use the same remote cabin for a quiet, and private, getaway. When they realize what happened, they make the best of it - until mother nature intervenes.

Mac rocks the sexy lumberjack look and Adeline might just be ready for him. When a nemesis from Mac's past reappears, everything changes - putting everyone Mac cares about at risk. This is a quickly moving story filled with romance and action. I found myself totally engrossed in in and stayed up way too late in the night to finish it - I was literally flipping pages just as quickly as possible to see what happened next.

If you enjoy the genre, you will love this book. While part of a series, this is a stand alone novel, however, it's so good that you really owe it to yourself to read them all. The author is on my must read authors' list.
