I enjoyed this book. Antonia has overcome a lot in her life. First it was her parents not caring about her. Her mother was horrible to both her and her father, her father was punishing her for what her mother did. Then She loses the love of her life. through it all she achieves success and raises two children on her own. I am glad I read this book. I am grateful that netgalley let me read this in exchange for an honest review.

This book was sent to me on Kindle by Netgalley for review. This is a story of a child torn caught in the middle of her family dynamics. She tries to become invisible...thus the title...it is a sad story of what parents do to their children and how children attempt to cope on their own. This author has written so many novels...this is outside the box quite a bit...the story is intriguing...however, there are certain scenes that could be left out...the author is great at her craft...she is an awesome writer...this is just not one of my favorites...

This sweeping story from Danielle Steel guides us through the life of Antonia Adams, from her parents loveless marriage and how she learned to retreat and become invisible, to her dreams of writing screenplays and standing up for herself as she pursues that passion. Opportunities arise, but are they really her dreams and is she strong enough to stay true to herself? Antonia knows pain and tragedy, but she also has some great partners and support, and this novel tells that story well.

I loved this one!
Sometimes I could really get into these books and sometimes I can’t. I could relate so much to Antonia as someone who books are a source of comfort and refuge. This would make a great movie and this novel kept me hooked to see if Antonia became a filmmaker or not.
Premise Antonia Adams is the product of a loveless marriage between a beautiful young model and an aristocrat. As a child, she is abandoned in the abyss that yawns between them, blamed by her mother, ignored by her father, and neglected by both. Unprotected and unloved, she learns that the only way to feel safe is to hide from the dangers around her, drawing as little attention as possible to herself, to be “invisible.”

In her isolation, books are her refuge and movies her escape. A day spent being carried away by an unforgettable film in a dark theater is her greatest thrill. Her love of the movies turns into a dream to become a screenwriter, and a summer job at a Hollywood studio. There, a famous British filmmaker notices her, and suddenly she can remain invisible no longer. He wants to put her in a movie and make her a star. It is a dazzling opportunity but a terrifying one, as it strips her of the camouflage that made her feel safe. She is suddenly thrust into the public eye—and even more so when they fall in love.

She will never let go of her true dream of becoming a filmmaker, though, and if she wants to make that leap, she will have to expose herself in ways she never has before. When tragedy strikes, she must decide whether she will remain center stage or become invisible again, where she feels safest. Will she face her demons, or run and hide?

Absolutely could not put this down! It's been a long time since a read a Daniel Steele novel, and now I don't know why I stopped. I fell if love with Antonia's character, her strength and her resilience!
Through the struggles of a mother that left her and a father that blamed her, she finds a motherly figure and a lifetime friend in Lara. I wanted to reach through the pages and hold her and comfort her.
