I've been a fan of this series for years, and I'm always excited to read a new book, so I can catch up with Clare, Mike, Matteo, and of course, Madam.
In this book, Clare is caught in the middle of an investigation when she finds a dear friend, unconscious and barely alive. Her life is consumed by bees, worrying about her friend, and of course, trying to plan her wedding to her handsome detective, Mike Quinn.
This story is very well told and the honey bee process was quite interesting to read about.
I am happy to recommend this book as well as the entire series, to anyone who likes a mystery.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of this book.

I just started Cleo Coyle's coffeehouse mystery series a few months ago here at my library for a cozy mystery book talk. I absolutely love it! I started kind of late in the series so now I am trying to back track through the rest of them. I am super excited that the series is continuing on!
It has everything you could want out of a cozy mystery series: fun them, a fully fleshed out plot, relatable characters, murder, and well done amateur sleuthing. Plus a little bit of a love story never hurt either.
Clare has finally married her love interest, NYPD Mike Quinn (not a spoiler because anyone who has been with this series knew it was coming). To go along with her upcoming honeymoon, Clare creates a honey themed latte for the coffee house. But things go south when she discovers Bea (the beekeeper) unconscious after having fallen from quite the height. Was it an accident? Just a simple misstep? Or is there something more nefarious at work here? Clare decides that it is once again up to her to figure out this latest crime. Just who could be responsible? Only time and good amateur sleuthing will tell.
Loved it! Another good cozy for the books.

I enjoyed the mystery in Honey Roasted a lot, it had some great elements pulling it together. But I had to go back and double check which book was last in the series because it felt disconnected. The Mike subplot just felt manufactured. And I'm disappointed there was zero fallout for Matt's behaviour in the previous book, it was gross. Speaking of continuity, what happened to Mike's kids? Apparently he no longer spends time with them, either.
It was really cool to learn about bees, honey production and its use in restaurants. It made sense for Claire to be doing her own investigation after finding her unconscious acquaintance. Ultimately, I liked the mystery but this installment wasn't quite connected, it felt like they'd forgotten what had happened in previous books.
