Charming, romantic and meaningful. I couldn’t have rooted harder for Crystal and Scotty! I loved the first half so much but the second half fell flat to me. I think the miscommunication trope in this one really hindered my enjoyment.

“I think about you all the time. Every day, all day. All I ever want to do is be with you. Even if we aren’t doing anything at all.”
this book has:
-nemesis to friends to lovers
-gym romance
-a chris evens lookalike firefighter mc 🔥
-fitness influencer fmc
-meddling grandma
-body positivity and self-love messages
-hilarious banter
need a romcom to make you laugh out loud? this is it! I seriously laughed so much while reading this book. it’s the perfect romcom! Scott and Crystal’s back and forth banter was hilarious. Crystal is a total introvert and I could relate, I loved her self-and-body-love message she was sending out as a fitness influencer. and she was also really funny. but most importantly I absolutely LOVED Scott! He was so sweet and thoughtful, he remembered her favorite snack and would bring it to her every time 🥹 and he set the date on his calendar for when she would finally agree to go out with him. he had me swooning and I just pictured chris evans the whole time. but also his pickup lines had me laughing! he definitely made his way to my book boyfriends list.
Overall I really enjoyed it! I am excited for crystal’s sister, tara the bookstagrammer’s book next!

“Sorry, I blacked out. One minute, I was looking at your profile, checking out your ab video. And the next, I was liking your selfies from 2014.” 😂
Charming, romantic and meaningful. I couldn’t have rooted harder for Crystal and Scotty!
It was so realistic to see the challenges Crystal faced as a curvy fitness Instagram influencer and how the toll of social media can affect your self-worth.
This will live at the top of my all time favorite romances!!
This was a sort of enemy to lovers romance centered around a family wedding. I loved the first half so much but the second half fell flat to me. I think the miscommunication trope in this one really hindered my enjoyment.
This is one of three books in Lea’s interconnected The Influencer series and I can confidently say I have loved all three books! I actually read Exes and O’s and The Catch before this one even though this came first but it didn’t impact the outcome of my love for these ladies or this series! Set On You is focused on fitness influencer Crystal. She was such a fantastic character. There were several empowering and uplifting messages imbedded in this book regarding self love, acceptance, and body positivity. I really fell for the chemistry and love story between Crystal and Scott. Their romance tropes of nemesis to lovers was well written! I loved grandma Flo and of course her sister Tara and bestie Mel, who I was quite familiar with already having read their books first! Overall this is a book and series not to be missed!
Thank you Netgalley and Berkley for my gifted ebook! 4.5 rounded up to 5
This book was just OK for me. I was hoping for more but it was just mediocre. The premise and plot seemed good but I was not very invested in the characters as much as I had hoped to be.
This was a fun one! The typical enemies to lovers in the best way possible. I love the family dynamic, it was very relatable.
Super cute! What a fun debut novel! The steam was fun and not overdone. I can't wait to see how the series continues!!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this arc in exchange for an honest review. Amy is so great at keeping romcoms fresh and fun, especially with the representation beyond the skinny white girls that dominate romance these days. I think it's clear how Amy's writing has improved and I loved reading Crystal's stories and I'm already excited for her next book!

"Set On You" by Amy Lea offers a steamy romantic comedy that revolves around fitness influencer Crystal Chen and her unexpected connection with firefighter Scott Ritchie. The novel navigates the competitive dynamics between the characters in the gym, adding a layer of humor and tension. Crystal's commitment to breaking stereotypes and finding strength in the gym is a refreshing aspect of her character. The development of their relationship during their grandparents' engagement party adds a charming twist. However, the plot's reliance on escalating conflicts and the viral photo trope feels somewhat predictable. Despite this, the novel delivers a lighthearted exploration of love in unexpected places, making it an enjoyable read for fans of the romantic comedy genre.
Set On You is full of so much body and image positivity and Scott is such a swoon (hello Chris Evans imagery)! Add in some fun side characters and a goldendoodle to make my heart full and you’ve got the recipe for a perfect romance read!
Body positivity, Firefighter MMC, Fitness Influencer FMC and some hilarious banter. This book was everything! Crystal was such a relatable FMC which was refreshing. So excited to continue the story with Exes and O's.
Forbidden romance! Forced proximity! Hot firefighter! A wedding!
I'm becoming such a big fan of Amy Lea through this series. I'm reading them out of order (oops) but they're just delightful.
What a sweet and insightful story (with some off the charts steam!). A good, solid rom-com with great body image and fitness elements. Highly recommend this series and author!
Curvy fitness instruction Crystal meets firefighter Scott at the gym and they are instant enemies. The more they see each other the more they try to annoy each other until one day hate turns into... not so much hate.
I thought this was a very cute romcom. I loved the body positivity and the realness. of the characters. They were flawed and realistic and I always appreciate that in romance books. Overall, I liked it and would recommend!

VERDICT: a timely rivals to friends to lovers romance between a fitstagram influencer & firefighter! lulled in the middle but ADORED the romance, social media commentary & grandmas second marriage plot which compensated!
I loved the body positivity plot and the characters so much. I think where this fell short for me was the romance!
“Four sets of squats and I’ll be high on endorphins for at least a day, fantasizing about the strength of my thighs crushing the souls of a thousand men.”
I was absolutely thrilled to receive a copy of Amy Lea’s debut novel “Set on you.” This adorable romantic comedy gives us a spicy rivals-to-friends-to-lovers as well as an exploration of how social media influencers can fall prey to the negativity of strangers online.
Crystal is a curvy, biracial, body positive influencer who uses her platform to take down the fat-phobic stereotypes that dictate the fitness industry. She has dedicated her Instagram to inspiring those who may feel less-than to follow their dreams, while showing the world how curvy girls can kill it in the gym. Her endorphin filled sanctuary is disrupted when a gorgeous stranger who seems to be unaware of proper gym etiquette interrupts her workouts by always seeming to be exactly in the wrong place.
“His jeans hug him so perfectly that I’m convinced mere mortal eyes aren’t worthy of this view.”
Her gym rival, firefighter Scott, unexpectedly becomes a bigger part of Crystal’s life when they discover that their grandparents are soon-to-wed and wedding plans are now in full swing! With meddling grandparents set on making a match they are unable to avoid each other for long.
I really enjoyed watching Crystal and Scott banter throughout the gym, it quickly moved from frustration to foreplay, and then to flirty friends as they decided to take much needed time to develop their relationship. Both frustrated me at times as their lack of communication lead to drama that could have easily been avoided, but the newness of their relationship could definitely be to blame.
With Crystal being popular on social media and open about most aspects of her life, it was interesting to see that she, like most influencers, still feels the impact of the negative comments. Once the trolls descend on Crystal the self-doubt she worked so hard to battle rears it’s ugly head and she must do some intense self-reflection to regain her confidence.
One thing that brought me out of the story occasionally was that it felt like the writing was intended for a younger audience, there were a lot of over-the-top scenarios that happened at every turn, and maybe my old lady joints just felt tired imagining it.
Overall I think “Set On You” was a successful debut novel that delivered on the humor, spice and feels and I am so excited to read about Tara in the sequel! Congrats Amy Lea!

3.5, rounded up. While this was a cute read, by the end of it, I was so bored by the back and forth between the characters.
