This was such a great book! I loved that the main character was so comfortable with herself (at least until everyone else seemed determined to break her of that.) And I loved that Scott appreciated her for exactly who she was. Amazing debut from a super talented author!

It's rare for me, these days, to come across a book that I can't put down but this was one of them. From their very first meeting in the gym I was hooked and devoured everything in one sitting. I love how everyone we meet, including the side characters are well fleshed out and play good parts to the story. I would love to see more characters from here get their own stories, maybe Tara and Trevor.

I really liked this one. I liked the chemistry between Scott and Crystal. But I did feel like the book was a bit long. I thought that it would have ended sooner. I did like that Crystal really figures out who she wants to be and how to trust again.

Super steamy read.

Thanks NetGalley for this ARC!

Honestly, this is basically my perfect book. Curvy rep that addresses very common and current curvy struggles, a really sexy hero based on an actual person that I can conveniently picture the entire time Iโ€™m reading (๐“๐‡๐€๐“ ๐‚๐€๐๐“๐€๐ˆ๐ ๐€๐Œ๐„๐‘๐ˆ๐‚๐€ ๐๐Ž๐Ž๐“๐˜ ๐Ÿ‘), and ๐˜›๐˜๐˜Œ ๐˜“๐˜–๐˜™๐˜‹ ๐˜–๐˜ ๐˜›๐˜๐˜Œ ๐˜™๐˜๐˜•๐˜Ž๐˜š. I found myself frantically highlighting what felt like every other line because there are just so many perfect quotes and moments, and itโ€™s just a wonderful feeling, reading something so adorable and relatable and real. I love that ๐‹๐ž๐š is reminding the world that being curvy doesnโ€™t mean youโ€™re incapable of doing or LOVING โ€œskinny people activities,โ€ or activities commonly viewed as not being frequented by curvy individuals.โฃ

I could not have read this book at a better time. This book brought all the emotions out of me. Crystal and Scott were absolutely perfect. It brought so much love and inspiration to me when I needed it more than I can say. I will forever recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

More plus-size representation please!! Amy Lea wows in this romcom with a curvy fitness influencer who meets her gym nemesis in the form of Captain America. She works through fatphobia from haters, expectations from her family, and refusing to be the rebound to Scott. But when she sees Scott at her grandma's engagement dinner... on the groom's side, well it gets crazy!

I really enjoyed the banter between Crys and Scott, and that it never stopped even after they started dating. The author did a great job showing the struggles fat/curvy people go through just to live their life! I wasn't a huge fan that Crys let her weight become such a factor in her relationship, but then again we're all human. Overall, reallllly enjoyed it!

Get ready, because Iโ€™m going to be gushing and sharing about this book until it publishes in May. Not only did I laugh out loud, fall in love with the characters, and devour this in a ridiculously quick time but I also connected with this story in SO many ways!

Crystal Chen is a curvy personal trainer with a thriving social media presence. The gym is her safe place, her sanctuary, until one day a Chris Pratt look alike steals her squat rack and sends her blood pressure through the roof. There is a shock of a lifetime when her sworn gym nemesis, Scott Richie, shows up at her grandmotherโ€™s engagement party. Brought together by family, love of the gym, and cheesy pick up lines, Crystal starts to release that maybe Scott isnโ€™t so bad after all. Could he even be her swolemate?

โค๏ธ Gym nemesis to swolemates (enemies to lovers)
โค๏ธ Open door spice ๐ŸŒถ ๐ŸŒถ
โค๏ธ Loveable and nosy Grandma
โค๏ธ Curvy confident fitness instructor
โค๏ธ Laugh out loud humor

I donโ€™t know if I can put into words how much I adored every minute of this book. Amy Lea has written a delight of a debut novel. I myself am a curvy women new in the fitness industry and I saw myself in Crystal in almost every page. The author uses this book to speak so much truth about the fitness industry and beauty standards which spoke to me on such a deep, deep level. I adored the budding romance between Crystal and Scott! I laughed out loud more times then I can count. Amy's writing style makes you laugh and gives you all the feels all at the same time. And donโ€™t even get my started on my love for Grandma Flow. Meddling Grandmas get me every time. Put this on your TBR. Add it to your Goodreads. Pre-order it. Because I am telling you, I know this is going to be one you donโ€™t want to miss!

@berkleypub and @netgalley what a special gift you gave me! Thank you so much for letting me read this one early.

Set On You is such a fantastic contemporary romance! Itโ€™s heartwarming and funny and sexy, and the messages and writing are fantastic. The story highlights the ridiculously unattainable beauty standards many people compare themselves to as it follows Crystal, a curvy fitness influencer, and Scott, a firefighter, who meet by chance at a local gym when Scott swoops in and steals Crystalโ€™s favorite squat rack. Crystal is less-than-impressed by the new gym member. However, when Crystal meets Scott again at a family gathering, she realizes she might be seeing a lot more of this arrogant Chris Evans lookalike.

As the pair gets to know each other, the sparks begin to fly, and Crystal and Scott find themselves connecting over family wedding preparations, silly texts messages, and gym workouts. But what will happen when a viral photo threatens their relationship?

Crystal is such a wonderful protagonist, and I love her journey. In the authorโ€™s note, Amy Lea stresses how important it is to show women of all marginalizations who embrace self-love and body positivity, and we see that in Crystal. A confident and optimistic woman, she loves who she is and what she does. She has worked hard to eliminate harmful and fatphobic stereotypes, and sheโ€™s a positive force in the fitness world. I love her determination and compulsion to help others. However, she still has insecurities and fears. She is a well-rounded and realistic character, and she doesnโ€™t gloss over the difficulties one goes through when on a health journey. It isnโ€™t always easy, and the road is often full of obstacles and setbacks. I like that the story focuses on being healthy and embracing yourself and not necessarily conforming to societal pressures.

Scott is fabulous as well. Heโ€™s hunky, awkward, and a little bit nerdy, and beneath the arrogance and swagger, heโ€™s super sweet. Throughout the book, Scott is compared to Chris Evans. Enough said. Scott and Crystalโ€™s grandparents, Crystalโ€™s sister and parents, and other secondary characters in the story are also interesting and well-developed. I think Crystal and Scott have relatable and realistic relationships and family situations that resonated with me. New relationships, parental pressures, health scares, and more enhance the characters and show the complex and rewarding connections in both Crystal and Scottโ€™s lives.

The chemistry between Crystal and Scott is charged from the beginning. Whether they are bickering, competing, or sharing a sexy, tender moment, the sparks fly. They have such a great connection, and their banter is fantastic! For various reasons, the pair agrees to wait a few months to take their relationship to the next level. So, they develop a wonderful friendship in the hopes that it will lead to something more. And it sure does! They have a super swoon-worthy love story. I adore their text messages and flirty conversations, and their romantic scenes are steamy!!

I also love how the story includes Instagram posts and comments, as well as text messages. It shows the realities of online culture, both good and bad. The online bullying that Crystal and Scott endure is true to life and, sadly, what we often see on social media. The text messages between Crystal and Scott show how close they are becoming, and I especially loved the cringe-worthy pick-up lines. They are so funny and sweet.

A story about self-love and acceptance, Set On You is a wonderful contemporary romance. I look forward to reading more by this talented debut author and am so grateful to NetGalley and Berkley Books for providing a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

Amy Lea is an exciting and talented new voice in contemporary/romcom. Her debut SET ON YOU is so funny, heartful, and sexy. Crystal is a heroine to root for. Her struggles were so perfectly balanced to grab the reader on a deeply emotional level without ever becoming depressing. I was so angry on her behalf at times yet also proud of her. I don't share her exact struggles, but like most people, I do struggle with self-acceptance, and I can honestly say that fictional Crystal gave me some advice on how to deal with it. Scott is the book boyfriend of my dreams - beautiful both inside and out. Fiercely protective but vulnerable...willing to admit his own mistakes. The representation in this book - fat rep, Asian rep - was so well done. The sex scenes were open door and steamy but not gratuitous. I cannot wait to see what Lea has for us next.

Curvy fitness Instagrammer Crystal Chen meets her new gym nemesis Scott Ritchie, though she doesnโ€™t learn his name until a family event. An organic attraction develops into deeper involvement the more time they banter, spend time together, and get to know each other. Crystalโ€™s social media presence though has its ups and downs, and after sharing a photo of her and Scott, the floodgates open. Could the steady stream of hate comments steer their relationship to a point of no return?

What a great, bingeworthy rom-com, perfect for fans of THE FASTEST WAY TO FALL! Leaโ€™s debut talked about body positivity, fitness being about what makes someone feel good, love their body, not so much about the numbers or the muscles. I loved the family connections, all the fun quirks and details, pop culture references, but most importantly, Scott was the perfect hero for Crystal. The story was well-paced, the flow flowed, and the blog posts, comments, and text messages were lovely such additions. I definitely recommend!

Set on You is a super cute gym romance! I absolutely loved both of the main characters. Crystal was incredibly relatable and I loved the thought that went into her characters. Despite being a little bit annoying at some times, I think it was perfectly acceptable for her to feel these feelings during these moments. the banter between the two main characters was super entertaining as well !!
And Scott <333 i loved his character soo much and everything he did was just so sweet and thoughtful.

overall, so much smiling and laughing went on as I read this!!

one thing to say is that it didn't really feel like it was the 'rivals/enemies to lovers' that was described by others. (just because i dont realllly think they disliked each other that much at the start of the book)

nonetheless, definitely would recommend if rom-coms have a chokehold on you as well :D

4.5 stars.

Loved how the author implemented social media into the book. It captured all the great and hard things about it. I also loved the mid-plus size rep. Overall, really enjoyed this one, and canโ€™t wait to read more from this author!

Set on You was so much fun! I really loved the self-love, body positivity themes. And give me all the pop culture references, please. Amy totally delivered! And Scott is absolutely dreamy.

I absolutely LOVED this book and could not put it down without finishing it! The characters had the perfect amount of tension and banter while developing their friendship and eventual relationship. Nemesis to friends to lovers may be my favorite new troupe! This book does explore the main character's experience with fatphobia and cyberbullying while trying to maintain an outlook of self love and body positivity. There is also a brief conversation the main character has with her father in regards to the racism he faced early on in his interracial relationship. Please make your decision to read with that in mind. However, if you do make the decision to read, I think you will find this story is insightful and supportive of the many triumphs and pitfalls we face when we strive for self-acceptance.

This was such a great rom-com filled with banter, competitive mc's, cheesy pickup lines and self respect. Scott and Crystal meet at the gym and are instantly gym nemeses. Although Crystal finds Scott infuriating, she can't help be attracted to the 6'2 superhero lookalike. When they find out they will be seeing more of each other, they agree on a truce. When life (or a certain grandma) keeps bringing them together, a friendship starts forming. There are other feelings involved but they both agree they can't do anything about it due to recent past relationships.

"'I want everyone who doesnโ€™t conform to mainstream beauty standards to know that they are worthy of an epic love story too. We all are.'"

If I could describe this bookโ€“"Set on You" by Amy Leaโ€“in one word, I would say inspirational. Inspiring. A book that uplifts and acknowledges.

A rom-com full of pop culture references, hilarious side characters, a dimpled Chris Evans firefighter, and Asian (Chinese) representation, Set on You is adorable. It truly is. I mean we canโ€™t ignore the banter and hot, hot, hot firemen. Someone please get me a Scott Landon Ritchie. And letโ€™s not forget to mention that this is enemies to lovers *squeals*.

Now, this isnโ€™t just a fluffy and hot romance book. I also applaud Amy Lea for bringing attention to such an important matterโ€“societal beauty standards and the impact it has on those who are not conventionally pretty. Crystal Chen, the heroine, is a fitness influencer who focuses on body positivity and acceptance, especially for those who are curvy/plus size like herself. It is so easy to fall for societyโ€™s unrealistic standards, and I think Lea did a good job depicting such themes throughout the book. As well as the unseen sides of being an influencer today. I think Crystalโ€™s journey with these themes is one of my favorite aspects of the book.

This was such a wonderful read! I related to Crystal in many different ways, and absolutely loved Scott as a love interest! I thought that the story was well-paced and even had a little bit of spice (which I enjoyed!). I cannot wait to read more from Amy Lea, she's definitely become an auto-buy author for me! Thank you Berkley for the e-copy!

Thank you, NetGalley, for approving me for an ARC of this book!

I knew I would love this book when I first requested it. As a curvy woman who loves going to the gym, I really resonated with the main character. Crystal was such a relatable character, even when she was confident, even when she wasnโ€™t. I kind of fell in love with her by the first chapter. Scott felt like he was literally Chris Evans written into a book- and thatโ€™s not a complaint. Who doesnโ€™t love Chris Evans?? Heโ€™s even described as the man himself multiple times. He was kind, affectionate, confident, so sure of himself. While also being unafraid to feel things, to express those feelings, and to admit weakness. They made such a cute couple, and their story was even cuter- In typical rom com fashion, this book had me laughing one second and saying โ€œAwwโ€ in the next. I was pleasantly surprised to find it had a little bit of spice! Amy Lea is a new auto-buy author for me! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป

Slight spoiler: Iโ€™m hoping she continues this series on some of the side characters mentioned in this book.
