Upon the death of their mother, both Gabrielle and Lulu are expecting an inheritance; what they aren't expecting is their mother's "collection. This is a story of mothers, daughters, sisters and unlikely friendships and I thoroughly enjoyed it. There isn't one character that I wouldn't enjoy spending time with.

This is a perfect book for fans of fashion and women lit. I really appreciate having women characters of an older age.

This is a moving story about family and fashion, two of my favorite things. I would kill to get into Bette's closet and loved all of the references to Coco Chanel but it was the two grieving sisters who really stole my heart.

I am not into fashion. I only used to watch Project Runway to be horrified at the clothes and laugh sometimes. So I thought this book would be wasted on me. It wasn't! It was interesting and fun and a great read.

First of all, the sisters are total opposites and of course, each feels that the other had better lives as children and as adults. They're not exactly close at the beginning of the book. So of course trying to agree on what should be done with their mother's collection is going to be bumpy. Their mother knew what she was doing and still managed to teach a few lessons from the beyond.

This is a great book for the beach or a rainy or snowy day, and to slip into a bubble bath with, glass of wine in hand and some Enya in the background. Go read this book. Me, I'm going to check out other books by these two fantastic authors.

Thank you, NetGalley! These are my opinions and they are freely expressed. Thank you, Randy Sue Meyers and MJ Rose! This is a great book!

Gabrielle and Lulu inherit their mom's vintage collection. These two estranged sisters will now have to come together to determine what to do with their's mom collection and on this journey they will make new friends and find love and forgiveness. They will find Chael quotes their mom put in the hand bags and feel like she is talking to them. For those who dare doubt the power of vintage Chanel need to read this book.

I had so much fun reading this book! I could picture myself in the closet looking through the purse to see what peral's of wisdom will come my way. The information on the different pieces in the collection was so interesting. I highly recommend you pick up this book.

This book was a light read but that did not take away from my enjoyment. If you are a huge fan of fashion, this will appeal to you. The relationship between half sisters, Gabrielle and Lulu, was engaging. And as they had to work together to go through their mother’s clothing, they have the opportunity to meet their mother’s friends and discover messages hidden in the clothes. Through all of that, this book brings out a variety of issues … forgiveness, friendship, and an opportunity for second chances.

Thank you to NetGalley and Blue Box Press for my advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

Sisters who used to be close are brought together when their mother passes away. Promises she made were not what they expected in any way. She was a terrible mother while alive (and part of why the sisters are estranged). Both are in bad places in the lives and expected that for once in her life their mother would live up to a promise she made by leaving them her estate so they could move forward and start anew. What they got was so not as anticipated. And on top of the huge disappointment she put some restrictions on what she left them. In her mind for once she was attempting to be a decent mother. I found her to be manipulative even in death. The sisters were forced together to try to distribute their inheritance and re-establish
their relationship with lots of little notes they found. I didn’t like any of the main characters so it took me more time than normal to finish, but it does wrap up nicely.

I really liked The Fashion Orphans. This was a feel good story that started off with not such good feelings. Distant sisters that just lost their mom, she wasn't a very good mom to either of her daughters. The mother Bette, who's obsession with all things Coco Chanel has left her daughters quite the inheritance. Lot's of Coco Chanel quotes unveiled throughout the book. I liked all the characters including the ladies of The Style Endures Society. An enjoyable read with a good ending.

Ehh, too predictable and feel good for my liking. Not a bad read overall, it's light and fast paced and I do like the two narrators. Maybe if I was more into fashion I would have enjoyed it more. It was the worst thing I've read but it'll be quickly forgotten.

Two estranged half sisters Lulu and Gabrielle were brought together at the reading of their mother's will. Both sisters were now single, one widowed and the other divorced and both in need of funds. Imagine their surprise when their inheritance existed of a fabulous collection of designer apparel, mostly Chanel instead of the $$ they expected. This inheritance lead them into a world of rediscovering each other along with their mother's friends, etc. A great look into sisterhood and the joys thereof. A good book that was an enjoyable read with likable characters and an interesting story line. I read a free advance copy via Net Galley and voluntarily chose to review it.

Sisters in their best years, bond over their late mother’s Chanel collection and find new purpose in their lives.
As they explore the collection, they magically find inspiring messages tucked away in mother's treasure. It seems their mother is advising and helping Lulu and Gabrielle to restore their relationship with each other even from the afterlife.

The Fashion Orphans is a story about family, legacy and forgiveness. Enjoyable for fashionistas, but just too "chatty" for my taste.

Nice easy read, just sadly not my genre at the moment.

Two estranged sisters are grudgingly brought back together after their mother's death and are faced with a unique dilemma over her estate. When their mother Bette passes away they receive "the collection" not the money they are expecting. This book is about much more than fashion and Coco Chanel . It's about family, the bonds of sisterhood, and forgiveness. Fun book to read!

Two lost sisters meet in a lawyers office after the death of their mother to find an unusual inheritance. While trying to figure out what do to with it they found each other again, the learned about the side of their mother they never knew from her friends, and fought for their friend. This story started slow but once they came up with an idea for the inheritance I couldn’t wait to find out if it worked out.

This book was such an enjoyable read. I thought I may get tired of the fashion descriptions, but I didn't, it added to the story and I really liked them and loved the quotes throughout.
The miscommunication between sisters, Lulu and Gabrielle got a little on my nerves, but overall it truly was a heart-warming story about love, forgiveness and family relationships which I will be recommending.
Thank you Netgalley for the chance to read and review this book.

I enjoy immensely the emails that I receive from various publishers advertising their new titles but I do hesitate over their queries about my preferred genres. I willingly click on literary fiction, mysteries and thrillers, biographies, memoirs, and history. When it comes to women’s fiction, that is where my hand wavers. Here I become insecure fearing to be judged as a lightweight intellectually. I thought about that while reading The Fashion Orphans. It is, on the surface, a light, bubbly read about a pricey inheritance of glitzy logo loaded designer duds but underneath it is a women’s story worth telling of mother/daughter and sister/sister misunderstandings and fierce bonds. Noteworthy is the fact that the source of the inheritance is a noted female designer. Fashion has often been relegated to a feminine oeuvre but, as it seems in many such cases, prominence appears to be awarded to the males in the field. Read for the fun and think about the story underneath.

"The Fashion Orphans" is a tale of friendship, fashion, and family. Upon the death of their mother Bette, sisters Lulu and Gabrielle are tasked with sorting out her estate. When they find a huge closet packed with Chanel designer clothes and accessories, the sisters are puzzled about what to do with them and why their mother owned them. The ensuing journey leads them to new lives and new friends. In the process, Lulu and Gabrielle learn more than they ever imagined about their mother.

Although the story is told from alternating points of view, this gambit does not detract from the action and movement of the plotline. Readers will find themselves cheering for the sisters, as well as weeping for their losses. The characters are realistic, as are their dilemmas, failures, and victories, as they are changed over time by the magic of fashion, style, and genuine love. This charming read is a clean women's fiction novel, with no overt sexual scenes or violence, although a few swear words occur. The tension and action build to a satisfying conclusion for all concerned. Highly recommended.

I received this novel from the publisher and from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own.

This book probably wasn’t for me - I’m not a huge fan of fashion and that aspect was lost on me. The ending felt a little cheesy but it’s definitely a fun beach read.

A really cute, quick little read. While I’m not a fashionista of any sort, I do very much enjoy books about fashion, so this was fun. After their mother dies, estranged sisters Gabrielle and Lulu are shocked when they learn they have inherited a collection of designer Chanel clothing and accessories, rather than a heap of money. All of the clothing depictions were decadent and it was fun to search out photos of a lot of the mentioned items, like the lait de coco bag.

This is a chicklit and I usually don't read this genre, but it was an easy read and a good book.

I always enjoy a good book about sisters and this fits the bill. Gabrielle and Lulu just lost their mother, Bette, and although she wasn’t the warmest person, she led an interesting life in Manhattan. Bette leaves her collection of vintage Chanel to be divided by the sisters, but only if they come up with a plan approved by Bette’s attorney. After not communicating for over two years, the sisters have to find a way to collect their legacy. I liked the main characters, and loved the group of Bette’s friends and their willingness to help. Recommended. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
