Smart and funny and warm - who doesn’t want to spend an afternoon surrounded by all of that in a book? Danny Pellegrino shares stories from his life that has me smiling and underlining clever passages “giddy hippies”. He writes really well. The love for his family is palpable as is his honesty about feeling isolated and vulnerable as a kid figuring out his sexuality. I hope for his next book - there will be others - he’s too good of writer to not continue - he will dig deeper and, when ready, share more about his feelings instead of scratching the surface. I wanted to read more about how it all felt. A fun debut and one I’m so grateful to have been given an advanced copy from Sourcebooks.

Fans of pop culture and/or listeners of Danny Pellegrino's podcast Everything Iconic are sure to love his new book of essays. Part of Danny's charm on his podcast is making every listener feel like they've been friends with him for years, and that same approachability carries over to his writing. With honest looks at his own experiences with anxiety, grief, and depression, it's easy to relate and feel like you're less alone.

Wow Bethenny Wow. This is 5 stars and 5 stars. No 1 stars over here!

I knew this was going to be a 5 star book for me being a huge fan of Danny Pellegerino's podcast, Everything Iconic. Like Danny's podcast, his personality and humor shine throughout this book.
As queen, icon, & legend, Kathy Lee Gifford and the lovely Danny Pellegerino always say, "Everyone has a story" and I loved reading Danny's. I laughed out loud more in this book than I ever have and some tears were also shed.

I loved reading more about Danny's life and some (now funny) embarrassing moments he has experienced. If you are a fan of Danny's podcast (and if you haven't listened to it, you should!), it's similar in style where he talks about all things pop culture, celebrities, books, TV and movies. I think an audiobook version of this book would be amazing, because it would be just like an extended version of his podcast.

Growing up in the 90's, I have always related to and appreciated Danny's nostalgic mentions and childhood reminders and this was no different. I originally got hooked on Danny for our shared love of Bravo and although, our lovely Housewives are mentioned, you could go into this book without being a Bravo fan (but once again, if you aren't, what are you even doing with your life?!).

I would just like to end this by saying. I have always loved Danny and his amazing personality. He is warm and kind and the world needs more of that in this day and time. He always helps pull me out of my funks or if I'm stressed by adding some humor into my life talking about the things we love and enjoy, and this book was no different. He is an amazing interviewer, does a great job interviewing celebrities on his podcast, and I'm so happy I got an advanced copy of his book so I can learn even more about this amazing person and what has shaped him to be who he is today. Bravo, Danny! Proud of you for your first memoir and can't wait to see what you do from here!

How do I un-remember this is a collection of stories from Danny’s experience growing up as a closeted gay kid in small-town Ohio. These stories are thoughtful, coming of age, and really sincere. As I expected, I absolutely loved this book. Kudos to Danny because these stories very much read in his voice. Danny and I are from the same generation so a lot of his writing unlocked memories for me. For example, Napster, radar detectors, Devon Sawa, sleepovers. It's thoughtful, but so funny and relatable! I was a big fan.

Everything Iconic with Danny Pellegrino is my favorite podcast so I was expecting to enjoy this book, I just didn’t realize HOW MUCH I would love it! So heartfelt, so witty, so funny. It truly felt like catching up with a friend and listening to all of their best stories while I was reading this. Danny’s pop culture references were (as expected) perfect and his poignant and personal stories about mental health and growing up were the perfect balance. I can’t wait for all of my friends to read this book. Danny is a king, icon and a legend and proves that everyone does indeed have a story. I’m so thankful we got to hear Danny’s!

There's a lot to relate to within these pages, and I'm glad that Danny Pellegrino is widening his platform for sharing his life and stories. I think all kinds of people will pick this book up, empathize with it, see themselves within it, and ultimately be glad they read it.

I received a temporary digital advanced copy of How Do I Un-Remember This by Danny Pellegrino from NetGalley, Sourcebooks, and the author in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I have been a fan of Pellegrino's podcast, Everything Iconic, for years. The podcast focuses on The Real Housewives and pop culture, and every now and then, he takes detours about his past or present. More than once, I have thought to pull over as it is completely unsafe to be driving while crying-laughing so hard during these side stories. So when I heard Pellegrino was writing a book highlighting these moments, I knew I had to read it. He did not disappoint; I was crying-laughing throughout the book and appreciated the darker moments he explored. A fun and easy read by an extremely humorous and talented pop culture lover.

As a fan of Danny Pellegrino's podcast, 'Everything Iconic!', I was eagerly anticipating reading this book and it did not disappoint.

While I had heard some of the stories before on the podcast, I was more than happy to read them again, especially that bold-ass woodpecker and the couch cushions.

I also enjoyed all the detours and reading the stories that I hand't heard before - both the highs and the lows. This book was captivating, honest, and hilarious.

Danny's writing captures his familiar voice perfectly and I felt like I was catching up with an old friend.

Perfectly in the tune of Danny Pellrgrino. His wit, candor, gentle touches shine throughout. A lovely read you’ll easily find comfort in, while relating to the stories he shares.

I'll begin with the fact that I had no idea who Danny Pellegrino was before reading his book. Someone who is already familiar and a fan will surely have a much different take away from this book. Pellegrino makes constant reference to various reality tv shows (most I don't watch) and daytime tv talk shows (that I also rarely watch). This got tedious for me since they aren't references I identify with. I did grow up in the midwest so definitely could identify with some of his childhood stories, though most of his stories are colored by his sexuality so are very different from my experiences. I do enjoy reading books by those with very different lives to mine, but I found Pellegrino's storytelling style to be long and drawn out, making this feel like a slow read and I found myself really looking forward to finishing the book and moving on. There are moments I enjoyed, but overall, I found this book just wasn't a good fit for me. If you aren't familiar with this author, maybe check out his podcast first to see if his humor and storytelling style suits you before grabbing the book.

Thank you to SOURCEBOOKS and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.

Full disclosure: I work for Sourcebooks and received this ARC as part of my job duties.

That said, holy crap this was hilarious and insightful and a great read. I devoured it in one night and my husband threatened to kick me out of bed for “laughing too obnoxiously and often.”

This is a book you don’t want to miss.

Everyone has a story, and WOW did I enjoy reading Danny’s. This book felt like a long, heartwarming chat with a friend. I’ve been a fan of Danny for a while. I was originally drawn to his podcast because of our similar interests (bravo bravo and more bravo) but stayed because of his hilarious sense of humor and the realistic perspective he offers, both of which were so present in this book.

How Do I Un-Remember this was funny, thought provoking, nostalgic and RELATABLE. I laughed as Danny recounted childhood family vacations, and his love for all things pop culture (Jessica Simpson, JC Chasez, and talk shows, to name a few) . I cried reading his chapter about processing grief in a Kohls. My heart ached for young Danny trying to feel comfortable in his own skin at a sleepover gone wrong. I felt nostalgic as he recounted fun and tough times spent with his friends. I related to his struggles with mental health, particularly anxiety. Reading about the experiences Danny wanted to “un-remember” had me remembering moments in my own life, and allowed me to gain new perspective for them while feeling less alone in my feelings.

I feel SO lucky to have received an advanced copy of this book. Thank you to Sourcebooks! I cannot recommend it enough, and cannot wait to purchase a copy when it hits shelves in March 2022 (fingers crossed for an audiobook?) I’d recommend this to any millennial who enjoys a funny, heartwarming memoir!

Obsessed!! Danny Pellegrino's How Do I Un-Remember This? is laugh out loud funny, and as a fan of his Instagram and podcast, I expected nothing less from him.

As an 80's/90's kid this book is uber nostalgic. There is just something about the way he writes a story that I find myself simultaneously very vividly flashing back to that point in time and cracking up at his lengthy descriptions. So. On. Point!!

Hilarious and nostalgic are a given, but deep down there is so much heart to these stories and I loved to hear about his family and life in his younger years. & really just how he just found his way through life.

This book is a must for any pop culture fan! & it's just the perfect light hearted read for anyone looking for something to bring them to tears via hysterical laughter. I am a life long pop culture fan and also now a life long Danny Pellegrino fan!
Side note:The book lightly touches on the time he ate expired tasty cakes on his Instagram. Do yourself a favor and read this book and also check out the Tastycake highlight on his Instagram. Unintentional comedy gold!!

Five heart filled, nostalgic, belly laughing stars.

I love Danny so so much, and I’m so proud of him! Though I had heard many of these stories before on his amazing podcast, I loved reading them and some new ones in this book. I laughed out loud several times (rare for me when reading!) and it just made me so happy. Love the nostalgia, love it all.

This was an interesting read, especially coming from a gay man’s perspective. It was hard to read at times but was somewhat relatable to every day life.

As a fan of Danny Pellegrino's podcast "Everything Iconic," I was anxiously awaiting his debut collection of essays. During his Bravo re-caps, Danny displays his sense of humor, while maintaining a refreshing level of vulnerability with his audience. I was excited to see that version of Danny in his essays - I was not disappointed.

How Do I Un-Remember This? is many things - hilarious, nostalgic, and brimming with pop culture, to list a few. Certain essays will cause you to audibly laugh while reading - the story of Danny's college ASL class did it for me (no spoilers, I promise). I really enjoyed reading and revealing the layers of Danny's family relationships, his life, and his love of pop culture through his writing.

Another theme that I enjoyed within this collection was Danny's experience as a gay man - mainly his pre "coming out" experiences. As a gay man myself, his experiences of a young boy resonated with me and reinforced to me how many gay men have similar experiences. While I have been out for many years, I think some queer youth will see themselves in these sorties and perhaps for a moment feel less alone.

Overall, I recommend this essay collection to any fan of Danny's, to any fans of pop culture, or to any reader who is looking for a laugh. How Do I Un-Remember This? does not disappoint!

Thank you #Netgalley for the advanced copy!

I have heard Danny Pellegrino on many podcasts, particularly ones referenced Bravo reality shows, so when I saw he had a book coming out I had to request it. So happy I was granted access! This was a fun collection of essays and detours capturing the triumphs and lows of his life. I loved his honesty for the good and bad situations, there were so many times when I was smiling reading this. Hope he does another book with even more hilarious stories!
