This is the second in the Fix-It Witches Series! This runs at the same time as Witch Please the first book, it seems. So that's fun I had been wondering what Clem was doing.

I'm a big fan of getting into all the side characters when I enjoy a book. I love witch books and rom coms!

When the English Witch hunter came to town all angry looking for trouble or actually just hunting a witch she volunteered as tribute to distract him. I'm pretty sure her type of distraction wasn't what they thought she was doing. But he was thoroughly distracted.

I loved getting into Clem's character more in this book cause she's more of the take action of their coven and there was some problems that needed to be handled. And that twist at the end wow that was fun! Their family drama gets more dramatic but I think they might be in a good place with a couple of hold outs.

I loved Benson he was a great new addition!

Very curious about Extra Witchy! Cause the description of them at the house party was hilarious in the bathroom. I need to know more.😂

Read if you like:
✨ Forbidden love... Spicy open door
✨ Witchy rom com with some witch hunter action
✨ Sassy old people

Thank you sourcebookscasa and netgalley for the e-ARC for my honest and voluntary review.

Ultimately I liked the premise of this book but it was slow and kind of boring. the first half of this book overlaps with the timeline of the first one. I appreciated that there wasn't a lot of repetitive overlap between the two but the main character form the first is barely in this one at all. You also are supposed to like Danika in the first book, but in the second she comes across as flighty and selfish. Both books had potentially high stakes situations but the pacing and outcomes of those situations made them less high stakes than you originally thought. The steam was pretty good and I did like the relationship between Clem and Gavin. However, there was way too much filler for me to be fully engaged. Ultimately this book was just ok. I'm not sure if I would read the third.

3.5 rounded up

I read Witch, Please last fall and was hoping we would get to see more of these small town witches. I was so excited to receive a copy of Boss Witch, especially when I saw that it would be Clementine’s story! We do get to see snippets of Clem and the witch hunter in Witch, Please, so I would definitely recommend reading that one first to understand the full story/get more of an introduction to the characters.

I really enjoyed Boss Witch, even more than Witch, Please! I loved Clementine and Gavin’s characters and enjoyed watching them grow. Though Clementine’s initial reasoning behind perusing Gavin isn’t of the purest intentions, their chemistry soon becomes undeniable and their relationship turns into something more. It was wonderful to watch them both stand up for what they really wanted vs fulfilling their family obligations.

If you’re looking for a cute, small town romance with a hint of witchy magic you will enjoy this series. I can’t wait to read the next book in the Fix-It Witches series!

Thank you to Sourcebooks and NetGallery for a review copy.

4/5 - #2 of the Fix-It Witches Series

Sooo, I was super excited for this story as its previously acknowledged in book #1, and it didn’t disappoint. I love Clem - her authority and take lead to her family, she is independent to a fault. Gavin’s storyline as a witch hunter brings a bit of an exciting thriller-esque theme, that make the book very difficult to put down.

Brief Plot (Includes Plot Twist fo Book #1): Clem is defending her family, and witch coven, when she plots to trick witch hunter Gavin Rhys out of town, and aware from the other members of her coven. But as Gavin grapples with his loyalty to his commitment to the witch hunter league, Clem is falling for the man that should be her nemesis. As Gavin finds out more of the league, to include the mysterious disappearance of his father, Clem and Gavin work together to save both themselves, and her coven.

Spice: 2/5 - Detailed, a bit of kink and dirty talk, but nothing wild. (Falls very in line with contempt. romance spice)

Thank you Sourcebooks Casablanca & Net Galley for access to BOTH the eARC and the eARC Audiobook of Boss Witch by Ann Aguirre (Narrated by Ava Lucas). This is my honest review in exchange.

I loved this follow up to “Witch, Please”, the first in the Fix-It Witches series. It’s the enemies to lovers trope on steroids, I’ve never seen one where lives literally could be at stake!
Clementine is back, fixing appliances and electronics using witchcraft. Unfortunately for her and the entire town, there’s a (hot) witch hunter around trying to detect traces of witchcraft, and Clem volunteers to distract him from the search.
Gavin is getting disenchanted with the idea of hunting witches, but his father is a very powerful hunter.
When Clem and Gavin get together, sparks literally fly. How can these have a relationship given their backgrounds?
This is a sweet and funny romance that I really enjoyed. The characters are all well-drawn and there are plenty of spicy scenes to enjoy!

Blurb:
“Ride-or-die female friendships. A bisexual heroine who stubbornly refuses to accept help. A hero with an incredibly pesky moral conscience with a mouse named Benson who may or may not have all the answers to life, magic, and love (Spoiler: he does!)
Clementine Waterhouse is a perfectly logical witch. She doesn't tumble headlong into love. Rather she weighs the pros and cons and decides if a relationship is worth pursuing. At least that's always been her modus operandi before. Clem prefers being the one in charge, always the first to walk away when the time is right. Attraction has never struck her like lightning.
Until the witch hunter comes to town.

Gavin Rhys hates being a witch hunter, but his family honor is on the line, and he needs to prove he's nothing like his grandfather, a traitor who let everyone down. But things in St. Claire aren't what they seem, and Gavin is distracted from the job immediately by a bewitching brunette with a sexy smile and haunting secrets in her eyes.
Can the bossiest witch in town find a happy ending with the last person she should ever love?”

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I really loved this book, 4.5 ⭐ I loved Witch Please a little more though.

This one follows Clem and Gavin when they first meet. This book actually overlaps in timeline with the first book, but you see different perspectives. I'd say the first 25% or so overlaps, and I actually think it works out really well. Because we get to see the first interactions between Clem and Gavin, their motivations, and how her method of distracting Gavin goes. I don't think it would've worked as well if the book started after the timeline of the first book, so I really enjoyed seeing the beginning stages.

If you are wanting a rivals to lovers, paranormal romance, then look no further. I also love the LGBTQ rep in this book and in this series (even though none of the characters in this book are explicitly stating their preference).

Both characters have their own struggles. Gavin with his profession of witch hunting. And Clem with family drama (Gram!) and struggling with her reasons for seeing Gavin. We get to see them grow and they have to determine if they want to stand up for what they want vs what their family wants for them.

I kind of called a plot twist/reveal (no spoilers), but it didn't hinder my enjoyment of the book at all. I loved how that all played out and how it resolved that issue.

We also see Leanne and Trevor meet in this book, maybe halfway through. Since the next book is about their relationship, I'm guessing it will have the overlapping timelines as well. I will definitely continue reading on in this series.

I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

I really enjoyed Witch, Please by Ann Aguirre in the fall, so I was super excited to find the sequel Boss Witch on NetGalley!

I really enjoyed the difference in personalities between Danica and Clementine! In Witch, Please we saw Danica as sensitive to everyone else’s feelings and try to make everyone happy. Boss Witch is Clem’s story, and she is one feisty witch. While she tries to take on everything to make her coven sisters feel safe, she secretly has a soft heart.

When Gavin first turned up as a witch hunter in Witch, Please I was stunned that Clem had agreed to distract him on her own. But the sequel showed another side to the mean, temperamental witch hunter and we got to see how he truly felt about the family business and what secrets his dear old dad was keeping.

I really enjoyed the romance between Clem and Gavin because for their own reasons they were trying to keep each other at arms length. Gavin connecting and forming bonds with some seniors and finding a sense of how his choices had affected his life was sweet. I loved Clem’s heart of gold but wished she wouldn’t take everything on herself and keep her emotions bottled up.

Boss Witch was full of angst and had some family drama and a moderate amount of steam to go along. All in all this is great if you love a good witchy romance!

Boss Witch is a cute, light hearted romance with witchy magic.

I liked it…..but beware, it took me a long time to get into the story (as in it started off slow) and I don’t feel like I ever got truly invested in the characters.

Fans looking for something light and fun and fans of The Ex Hex will enjoy this one!

I had a difficult time getting into this one because I haven’t read the first novel. However it was so cute and intriguing so I pushed through and was able to catch up. I found that it was very cute in the end and it was made for me! I love a witchy twist to my rom-com novels and this delivered. It inspired me to locate the first novel from my library so that I could catch up. With that being said it can be read as a stand-alone. I think there is just more clarity if you have the backstory and my rating for character development and overall enjoyment would have been even higher if I had read book one first. I adore Benson’s character and the pace of this book was on point. I can’t wait to read book one and then pick up the completed copy of this one on publication day. Thank you NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to have an eARC and share my opinion. I will update my review on my bookstagram and Goodreads once I have completed book one and reread book two.

🔊Song Pairing: A Little Wicked - Valerie Broussard

💭What I thought would happen:

Hello! More nutty situations from my favourite entrepreneurial witches!

📖What actually happens:

The witches who fix your little ol’ appliances are back with another witchy romance. This time Clementine is in the spicy hot seat when she decides to slay the recent witch hunter who has come to town with the magic of her vagina.

What Clementine doesn’t expect is to actually enjoy the company with this hunter (whom
I love key pictured Owen Hunt from Grey’s for no reason as how he’s described but the brain wants what it wants)

🗯Thoughts:

If you like enemies to lovers, titillating deception and baby goats with a hint of magic…this book may just be for you.

I couldn’t wait to read this as I loved Clementine (fabulous name) in Witch, Please so I expected a lot of attitude and wit. However, she had attitude that borderline matched my own and I kind of wanted to be like giiirl stahp.

I loved how Clementine takes it upon herself to seduce the witch hunter in town to leave her and her family the f@ck alone and then gets enraptured by his charm and accent. Yes please!

This book dragged on by about 50 pages too long. Sorry not sorry. Just had sooo many ways of ending but chose to be never ending. Witch, no.

⚠️ Stop if you haven’t read the first of the fix-it witches series

This low key kind of made me dislike Danica because she has dropped her coven to be obsessed with Titus, the cinnamon bun king who had the sexual allure of a pineapple. (Still think he’s a secret serial killer). Anywho…the divide that grows between Clem and Danny made my heart sad.

This is the first I've read this author and while this is the 2nd book in a series, I don't feel I missed much by not having read the first (though there were points during the book that made we wonder if they ran, at least in part, concurrently). While the story was well written and the plot was interesting with a some twists, the book didn't really work for me. Gavin was a likable low-key hero with family issues but I found Clem to be annoying, particularly early on -- her attitude of I've got to take care of everything so it's done just right & only I can & others will just get in the way, while also being annoyed that no one helped or said thanks enough frustrating as well as complaints about others being self-centered or selfish without looking in the mirror. The beginning of the story also felt very slow & filled with conjured angst (part of which was related to the above which didn't help). There were a couple times I debated about continuing -- not because the book was bad but because it wasn't really working for me. The 2nd half of the story did improve however (in pace and a decrease of those parts that I found annoying). And though it was a little too late for me to fully get behind and into the main characters' story, I'm glad I stuck out to see things come together, a twist or two that wasn't expected and the characters growth/progression in the end.

I absolutely loved Witch Please, so I was thrilled when I got a chance to read Boss Witch - and I have to say this second book in the series does not disappoint. Clem is sassy, badass, bossy and demanding - and I absolutely love her personality! And Gavin... Hooo boy! The steam! This is an awesome witchy rom-com, and I can't wait for the next installment!

I was so delighted to get my hands on an early copy of this book… it not only lived up to, but exceeded my expectations!

Boss Witch, the follow-up to Witch Please, fleshes out Clem’s version of events from the first novel and continues the story from there. I adored getting to explore the other half of the Waterhouse duo, but honestly wasn’t expecting to end up liking this cousin—and her love interest—way more! (Move over, Danica.)

I’m definitely intrigued to see where Aguirre takes the series in the future. Fingers crossed for an installment focusing on Priya and Kerry ASAP!

Boss witch was the most magical rom-com read!!!

Honestly, any story with witches is automatically a win for me, but even beside that - this book was such an insanely fun read!!

Reading about witches in a modern day setting was definitely so intriguing!

This story has the recipe for a perfectly epic read! The romance was swoon worthy and such a treat to read about! Did somebody say swoon worthy witch/ witch hunter forbidden love 👀

The characters were all so well written!!

I can not wait to see what else Anne Agguire has in store!

A light hearted romance with a pinch of magic.

Cam is a witch and part of a coven, Gavin is a witch hunter and a threat to all the people Cam cares about, what happens when she falls for him anyway?

The plot of the book was interesting and a bit more than your usual romance, but I feel that between that and probably too many supporting characters there was not enough space for the romance part of the story, particularly in the second half of the book.

Despite that, is still a fun read, perfect for October.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion

A fantastic modern day witches and witch hunter read , when they say opposites attract they are not joking, I loved the lusty-love story between clementine the witch and Gavin the witch hunter the banter between the two characters was amazing , and clementine strong wit and how she would get information out of the hunters was brilliant , the characters was all so well written .
I have not read the first book which I was trying to get round which I definitely will now as this book referred back to the first one so did find bit slow to understand but I got there in the end , the book over all was charming funny very witty and very entertaining , I am looking forward to reading more from Ann,
I have given the book over all 4 stars

An interesting read with lot of fun!

Clem and Gavin are the MCs but we do have lot many characters (few are the MCs of the other books in the series) and each character felt well written..

There were several hilarious and fun moments which put a big smile on my face..

I hadn't read the previous book the series nor had I read the blurb. I would have enjoyed more if I had read the first book.

Note:
Received an ARC in exchange of honest review.

This book is a part of a series but can be read standalone - however, reading the others would help relate better. This would fall under fantasy/ paranormal genre (I hadn't checked the genre also.. 😅 I loved the cover and went for it) - which I don't read much these days.. but still liked this book..

It will not surprise anyone to know that I loved this! Similar to the first one that I posted about recently, it had romance, witches, complicated family dynamics, etc. BUT this one was better than the first in my opinion! It had a lot more magic and drama than the first, taking itself a bit more seriously which I loved.

Thank you to @netgalley and @sourcebookscasa for this digital ARC! The book is out on April 5th!

I really enjoyed Witch Please when I read it earlier this year, so when I was approved for Boss Witch I was so, so very excited. While I did enjoy the book, I didn't love it...

While it's the second book in the series, it picks up the storyline about 1/2 through Witch Please. I did like this because it answered a lot of question marks that were left toward the middle of WP, and it was awesome to get Clem's perspective. The sisterhood bond, the magic in the book, and the plot I really loved- forbidden romance is one of my favorite tropes. BUT the biggest thing I took issue with is Witch Please was full of passion and tension, but I was not buying what BW was selling. I could not feel the tension, the passion, the forbidden-ness of Clem's and Gavin's romance. There was no umph- sure, the narrative was there was all this passion and tension, but I couldn't feel it and that made it a bit flat for me.

I did not like Clem much in the first book, but I really really liked Clem in the second. I loved the dimensions of her character development; I found her rude and annoying in the first book, but getting the backstory in the second helped me understand. I thought the author did a great job with continuity and uniqueness of the storyline. I just wish there was more- more passion, more details, more va-va-voom. There was too much conflicting emotions and actions in this book for it to be so...blah. I will say, this does make me curious how the third one will go, so I will be reading that for sure.

I would recommend this book if you liked the first one, if you like witchy romances, and if you liked the storyline that you want to still be in this universe. But if you were cold on the first book, this probably won't change your mind about the series.

You can't get a more forbidden romance than a witch and a witch hunter! I love this series, especially Witch Please, but this one had a slightly bumpy start for me. I think partly due to the timeline overlapping book one, the beginning insta-lust between Clem and Gavin felt rushed to me. But as their feelings became more concrete, I truly grew to love this couple, Benson the mouse, and the risk of jeopardizing their separate missions.

Attempting to distract Gavin in order to protect her coven, I really loved Clem. She's a little moody and blunt, but also fiercely protective of those close to her. Gavin was the one to really shine for me, though. Not fully understanding his purpose as a witch hunter, mostly following out of obligation, I loved seeing him push back against the constraints from his father. There was much more witch history in this one, and it was really interesting to see it unfold. And I totally didn't expect the twist.

Although I didn't love this as much as book one, the conclusion has me incredibly intrigued for book three!
