*The Valkyrie's Daughter* by Tiana Warner swept me into a Norse-inspired world where Sigrid, a determined stable hand, dreams of becoming a Valkyrie despite being paired with an ordinary horse. Her journey, filled with mythical realms and a slow-burning sapphic romance with the enigmatic Mariam, resonated deeply with me. The bond between Sigrid and her horse, Hestur, added a heartfelt layer to the narrative, showcasing Warner's evident experience with horses. This tale of self-discovery and destiny left me eager for more adventures in the nine worlds.

Thank you Netgalley for letting me have a copy of this e-book.
If you are a fan of Vikings, Mythology, or retellings, I would recommend giving this book a try! The main character is fun, relatable person that I think most people can relate to in the sense of wanting to fulfill a dream that others deny.

“The Valkyrie’s Daughter” was a really great read! It’s got a good "aPercu Jackson" vibe to it.
It was a bit slow going at times, but I think it is a really great start to a series. This is definitely a book I want to revisit!

DNF for me, but not because it was bad.
The writing was great—fast-paced, vivid, and the world really popped. I loved the mythological touches and Sigrid’s journey had a strong start. The whole Valkyrie angle was super cool.
Unfortunately, it hit one of my personal pet peeves, especially with the romance, and I just couldn’t stay invested.

Tiana Warner's The Valkyrie's Daughter plunges readers headfirst into a vividly realized world steeped in Norse mythology, delivering a thrilling blend of fantasy and high-stakes adventure. From the very first pages, the narrative explodes with action, setting a relentless pace that keeps you hooked. Sigrid, our protagonist, is a compelling figure—a seemingly ordinary stable hand, relegated to the fringes of Valkyrie society, and subjected to relentless bullying. Yet, beneath her unassuming exterior lies a strength that is gradually unveiled as she embarks on a perilous quest. Warner masterfully crafts the dynamic between Sigrid and her unlikely companions: a brooding Dark Elf and a banished Valkyrie. Their journey to save Vanaheim is fraught with danger, testing their resolve and forging unexpected alliances. This is a must-read for fans of mythology-inspired fantasy, offering a captivating blend of heart-pounding action, intricate world-building, and compelling character development.

There's an abundance of grecian and roman stories with the heroes and battles you know and love, and s little for nordic mythos that I was shocked when I first stumbled upon this book - and I loved every second!

A sapphic Valkyrie fantasy book? Say less. It was new, unique and exciting from the beginning. Very excited for the rest of the series!

Let me start off by saying this is a sapphic enemies-to-lovers. Does it get any better than that? Tiana has created an utterly captivating Norse Mythology inspired romantasy that will sweep you off your feet and have you turning pages as fast as you can read.

I wasnt sure going into this book I would like it I'm not a big fantasy girl but I enjoyed this book🩷 it was easy to follow along with and I felt like I was in the book while reading.

DNF @ 14% // Ch 9
I adore the writing style, fast-paced chapters and interesting setting. The concept is fun and I enjoyed introduction to Sigrid, her history and desire to be a Valkyrie. Such beautifully described in her and Hesters run, the world comes to life on the page.
Also loved the glimpse at the mythology aspect the eye, Helheim and Vanaheim. The night elves and wolves, along with Mariam and Sigrid battle. I could see the potential, however sadly it did something that's a personal pet peeve for me and I can't see romance for them after that.
Honestly simply case of not for me, but the writing is incredible ✨

This is an exhilarating mix of Norse mythology, action, and slow-burn romance. Despite her fate, Sigrid, a stable hand deemed ordinary, dreams of being a Valkyrie. A vision of herself leading a great battle pushes her on a dangerous quest, where she crosses paths with Mariam, a fallen Valkyrie with questionable loyalties. Their journey is filled with betrayals, self-discovery, and an undeniable connection. The world-building is immersive, the battles intense, and the emotional stakes high. While the pacing felt fast, the gripping plot and well-developed characters kept me hooked. It's a fantastic read for sapphic fantasy and epic adventure fans. I can’t wait to see where Sigrid’s story goes next!

Thanks to the publisher for the review copy! This one wasn’t for me or the right fit for my mood at the time.

A fun read. I love stories with Norse mythology and this delivered! The twist and turns at the end were very exciting

From the point I got the book to the point it was released, a lot changed and to keep track of it all with same level of interests reading it was hard.

This had an interesting plot but there were some parts to the story that I felt were very slow and dragged. Overall it was a good read and something that younger YA readers may enjoy.

This is a unique book and I really like the take on Norse mythology and how they created a whole universe in just a few short chapters at the beginning!
The FMC is strong and persistent almost to a fault and I can see how she is going to make a great heroine in the later books!
At the end of the book, it just wasn’t really for me. There wasn’t enough “fire” in the FMC, nor enough action to make up for the lack of spice. I would recommend this for those who just purely want a fantasy book focused on Norse mythology and a heroines journey.

Wow! I absolutely loved this book. Amazing characters and wonderful plot. Very beautifully written and easy to read.
I loved absolutely everything in this book. Sigrid’s bravery, her determination to better her life, Hestur’s undeniable abilities. How Mariam with time started to trust more and more Sigrid. Their journey was very dangerous and hard. But the more will come.
Overall I loved this book very much. If you’re looking for a FF, YA, sapphic fantasy then you’re going to love it.

I had been wanting to read this for a long time and I’m happy to say it did not disappoint! I’m always a huge fan of a Norse story and it was a fun read with all the right kind of vibes. I enjoyed the flow of the story and there were some twists that I didn’t see coming!

Sigrid is a stable hand for the junior valkyries, but all she has wanted her whole life is to be one of them. When her world falls under attack one day, she thinks this is her opportunity to prove her worth and join the fight. She tries to stop an enemy valkyrie, Miriam, from stealing the Eye, bringing it back to Helheim and into the wrong hands. When she accidentally grabs onto the Eye in the fight, it shows her a vision of a greater destiny, and she must rely on Miriam and a trickster night elf she meets along the way, Fisk, to help her get to Helheim to fulfill it. Little does she know that when she gets there, she might actually be fulfilling a more sinister destiny to unleash the dead upon the nine worlds.
Sigrid learns much about herself during this adventure from who she is, what she wants in life, and what is really most important to her, so there is lots of character development throughout. There is also quite a bit of character development with Miriam in that she is a different person in the end from who we meet at the beginning. Let's not forget about Fisk, as his confidence grows with his newfound friendships.
There is plenty of action throughout this epic adventure, and the author did a great job with the world building. The ending leaves it open for the story to continue on, and I can't wait to see what our hero and her friends are up to next in book two.

Just finished The Valkyrie's Daughter, and I am absolutely hooked! This book was an epic rollercoaster of action, emotion, and mythological intrigue. The world-building was phenomenal, and the characters were so well-developed that I felt completely immersed in their journey. The twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat, and the ending? It left me gasping and desperate for the next book!
I can’t wait to see where the story goes next—it’s safe to say I’ll be pre-ordering the sequel the second it’s announced. If you love fierce heroines, Norse mythology, and a story that stays with you long after you turn the last page, The Valkyrie's Daughter is an absolute must-read!
