I think this book is a great introduction to anyone who’s looking to learn the Tarot. I enjoyed the inclusivity with the artwork within this book. I also enjoyed how the author touched on more than just the basic Major/Minor Arcana and the symbolism within the RW Tarot. However, it did fall a little short on my expectations being that I’ve been practicing with the Tarot for a little over a year now. I would recommend for beginners.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Good for a beginner. Breaks down how numerology plays into tarot. Loved all the colors. I think for a beginner's foundation this is a good book.
The Zenned Out Guide to Understanding Tarot provides a wealth of knowledge for all practitioners. Much of the information isn't necessarily new or revolutionary, so more experienced tarot readers may not get as much from this book as newer readers. However, the information provided is still thorough and accessible, and I found it to be a great resource.
Five stars. I’ve been reading Tarot on and off for years, but I still consider myself to be a beginner, so I love checking out as many different books on the subject as I can. The Zenned Out Guide to Tarot is a great resource no matter how experienced (or inexperienced) you might be. It’s well done, complete without being overwhelming, and beautifully illustrated. It will definitely have a spot on my bookshelf for future referencing.
I am so grateful to Quarto Publishing/Rock Point and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review The Zenned Out Guide to Tarot.
Well written I just started reading the tarot cards. This book has helped me understand more and was beautifully explained.
Going to purchase a copy for me to add to my other books
This is a light, basic guide to tarot. It doesn't strike me as the most historically accurate or useful one, but it's cheerful and will work for those who don't care too much about the details or want to go too deep.
*Thank you to netgalley and the publisher/author for a free E-ARC in return for a honest review*
Surprisingly calm and easy guide to follow, one which allows the reader to take it's time and process the individual cards.
I can understand why it was titled the 'Zenned Out Guide' and it suites vert well.
A fresh take on learning Tarot - the book covers the general meanings of the major arcana, suits, court cards and pips, but focuses more on learning to trust your intuition when reading the cards. Presented in an easy-to-read format with lots of cool images, and includes some neat high-level info on the history of Tarot as well. Thoroughly enjoyable.
This is a quick reference and introduction to tarot. Do get a few spreads, working with the deck and card meanings.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. (via Netgalley)
I found this to be a helpful beginner guide that touched base on a few different topics. The book itself was colorful which is a fun change from what I normally read.
I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
Understanding Tarot is a beautiful and well presented book by Cassie Uhl as an introduction to using Tarot.
I recently found my Tarot cards which I lost years ago and have been itching to start using them again and it was a fantastic refresher to read this book. I will be getting a physical copy at some point so I can reference back to it again and again.
This book is great for any skull set in using Tarot - from beginners to refreshers or even more advanced Tarot users. I loved how the book was broken down into easy to digest and understand parts which had the perfect amount of information and didn't make me feel overwhelmed or lost.
I can't wait to use this book to start my Tarot journey again!
I liked that the author introduced the history of the tarot first, it's like fun trivia for beginners. I also loved how the contents of this book are very easy to read and understand. The author connected numerology and astrology to tarot, as well. It is definitely great for beginners, alongside the pictures and colors.
Great book. I’m new to the topic and thought it was written so the topics were easy to understand. Would make a great gift.
I recently got into Tarot cards and was looking for something to help with my understanding and this book is it! This book is colorful, fun, helpful, and easy to digest for beginners.
Each page is colorful, with watercolor designs. It includes how to select a deck, important card combinations, and correspondences. The book also has numerology, astrology, zodiac and planet meanings, etc. The book would be a good first tarot book for someone, but if you already have a collection, I don’t see it adding anything to it. All in all, the book is colorful and a good introduction for someone that is not interested in going too deep into tarot.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an e-copy of this book.
I received this book at exactly the right time as I had bought a deck of Tarot cards only a few days previously. I don't think reading it as an e-copy is the best way of experiencing this book, I feel it needs to be physically held and flicked through!
It is beautifully designed and illustrated and gives a comprehensive introduction to all aspects of reading the Tarot, including descriptions of the elements, correspondences, some numerology, astrology and suggested spreads. Each card has a fairly detailed explanatory page.
I would recommend this book to anyone wanting a thorough introduction to the Tarot.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an e-ARC of this title in exchange for my honest review. I was immediately drawn to the title, knowing that I love Tarot and I want to read more accurately, but it stressed me out. The book is well explained, gives great advice on how to do better readings, and use the Tarot as intended...to tap into our intuition. Highly Recommended.
The Zenned Out Guide to Understanding Tarot by Cassie Uhl is a beginner's guide to learning about and using the Tarot for introspection, shadow work, divination, and more. Illustrated throughout with beautiful artwork, Understanding Tarot makes the practice approachable and easy to access for people of all experience levels.
As part of her Zenned Out series, Understanding Tarot adds to Uhl's body of work that places common-sense guides to spiritual practices into the hands of would-be practitioners. I loved this installment because it breaks the Tarot down into easy-to-digest components and gives a satisfying explanation of each without overwhelming the reader with too many elements at once. While the book addresses everything it needs to, it does so without bombarding the reader with an overload of information.
Especially, I appreciate the way Understanding Tarot touches on many different ways to use the Tarot, different correspondences, and related practices outside of Uhl's personal experience and urges the reader to research more if they wish. This gives the reader many jumping off points and topics to delve into further, without this book attempting to be the end-all of tarot books. I felt that Understanding Tarot was a beautiful starting place that organically ushers the reader into the practice with confidence and a solid foundational understanding of the Tarot. I will definitely be recommending this to newbies who are looking for a place to get started with the cards!
Thank you to the author and to NetGalley for an advanced e-copy in exchange for my honest opinion!
Cassie Uhl has done it again with an amazing guide into one of our favorite spiritual niches - Tarot. This is a great book to read all the way through or to hang onto for referencing when you are a skilled reader or a new reader! The illustrations in this are nothing short of beautiful and I love that you get a description of the card meaning both regular and reversed. I have always struggled with how to read reversed cards so this gave me a perfect starting point to work it into my practice. This guidebook is truly for your work with the cards, as Cassie says if you want to dive into the history of tarot you should look into other resources. She provides us a quick snippet and then moves swiftly into card spreads, meanings, and uses.
Thank you Cassie Uhl, Quarto Publishing Group, and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. I really don't think that there will ever be a Zenned Out Guide I don't run to read.
