What a fabulous book about a truly fascinating and fabulous man. I especially enjoyed the background outlining Karl's family and his childhood in Germany before the war. Well written, highly entertaining, thought-provoking and filled with anecdote after anecdote of a life "well lived". I highly recommend this to all fans of fashion and really all fans of quality non-fiction.

The man behind the sunglasses, fingerless gloves, white hair and starched collar is revealed in this very readable biography.
Fashion designing icon, artist, creative director, book collector and photographer, the German born Lagerfeld was not only a visual artist but a visionary.
While living in Paris, he entered and won a coat design competition which introduced him to dress category winner Yves Saint Laurent. Going to Rome in 1964 he freelanced for Valentino, Chloe and Jourdan. With his innovative and groundbreaking design, he was hired by Fendi Rome with whom he stayed for the remainder of his life. In the 1980’s he would breathe new life into Chanel and made the interlocking C’s into a most recognized style pattern and logo for the brand.
His own Karl Lagerfeld brand was launched in 1984 and he collaborated with various designers bringing a style loved by both men and women, home design and a partnership with Steiger to make a teddy bear in his likeness.
His personal life, relationships and multiple homes were as interesting and illuminated as his career.
Lagerfeld was a renaissance man with his fingers on the pulse of creativity and a force that will be missed.
Thank you NetGalley, Alfons Kaiser and Cernunnos for an ARC in exchange for an honest book review.

As someone who adores fashion and not only graduated with a major in it, but works in the industry I read anything pertaining to it I could get my hands on. It was so interesting reading about Karl Lagerfeld and the behind the scenes look at Chanel. I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
