Such a beautiful story and the narrator's voice was absolutely angelic. As an adult, I feel like this would be an amazing book to share with my grand. The thought of making a snow angel and have it basically turn into a guardian angel is beautiful.

This is such a lovely first children’s book from one of my favourite authors of historical and contemporary fiction. The audiobook is beautifully produced with choral music and orchestral swells and the tone of Ethiopian Irish actress Ruth Negga's gentle Irish accent is perfect for the magical story, which has the feel of a classic.

The audiobook makes me want to see the print version illustrated by Daniela Jaglenka Terrazzini and published by Candlewick Press. l fully expect that it is a great book to gift and read during Christmas or anytime over the cold season.

Maggie O’Farrell is a wonderful, lyrical, descriptive writer whose books I enjoy. To cement her position as a must read author for me, she has written this beautiful little fairy tale for young children or for those who are young at heart. Sylvie wakes up one night to see a pair of wings made of snow-white feathers. She meets a snow angel, one that is there to protect her. The angel is shocked that Sylvie is able to see him. Months later after recovering from an illness, Sylvie wants to see her angel again. She tries things - dangerous things - to conjure up her snow angel, so she can thank him for saving her life. She has no luck and is worried she will never see him again.

This is a magical story about guardian snow angels, where snow angels go, as well as where they come from. So, where do they come from? Is it magic and innocence of a young child? This is a heart-warming and magical book that had me smiling from the first page to the last. I challenge all of you to go out and make a snow angel this year, if you have snow where you live, so you will have your own Snow Angel to watch over you. This audiobook was wonderfully narrated by Ruth Negga. Her voice was perfect for this story with its lyrical sound and expression. At a little over a half hour, it’s a lovely story for young and young at heart to read or listen to.

I had read O'Farrell's work before and was curious to see how it would translate to this format. My Goodreads review was succinct: Beautiful!

Wow – what a wonderful story, and beautiful recording. This winter tale, could easily be used for Christmas, but does not have to be. (Christmas is mentioned once). It is the story of a girl, who meets her snow angle one night. And after a long illness wants to see them once more. She tries different things to make her snow angel appear, after all her snow angel is her guardian angel. This is a perfect family story. Not to long, not too short, and I can see some big name animation house, taking this story and making an Oscar winning short! Five starts, perfect winter story.

I received a copy of the audiobook from Netgalley in an exchange for an honest review.

This was such a cute story. Highly recommend to everyone, not just kids.

[ The main character is always looking for the comfort of her snow angel, and I think everyone can connect with that. We're always looking to know that we are protected in some way.

The word that comes to mind after reading this story is "delightful." I want my very own snow angel after reading this.

This is one of those books that will spur the imagination and leave you dreaming of new possibilities. When Sylvie's snow angel comes back to protect her from a serious illness, he is shocked that she can see him. He tells her he will always be there to protect her. Desperately wanting to meet her protector again, Sylvie puts herself in some precarious situations but learns she can't fool her snow angel.

This is just a perfect winter read-together with your favorite small person.

Did I just listen to a movie? This audiobook was amazing, the music, the narrator, the story, was so wonderful. This story was magical and I think would appeal to the imagination of children and adults alike.

This is such a sweet tale of how one little girl finds out about snow angels. She is not supposed to see her snow angel but she does. Snow angels are created when you make a snow angel and the snow melts and evaporates up to the sky. Snow angels are not supposed to be able to be seen my humans. They are supposed to always watch over you to help when you are in danger. Somehow, something went wrong this time.

I loved listening to the narration done by Ruth Negga. Ruth did an excellent job at portraying this tale and had me absorbed. I absolutely loved it!

This is a great book for children and adults alike. I would recommend this to everyone. If you love tales of powers watching over us, angels, snow, children’s love for their parents, worry/fear for others and a wonderful narrator that envelops you into the story then definitely check out this book by Maggie O’Farrell.

Did you know that famed Hamnet author Maggie O’Farrell wrote a children’s picture book as well? It is beautiful ! My daughter and I listened to the audio for this beautiful picture book and looked at the gorgeous drawings afterwards and it is a sweet and heartwarming story of a girl who makes a snow angel and learns that snow angels once you have made them become your guardians protecting you from evil - she tries to tempt fate to get the snow angel to show himself again after noticing this and the story develops in a heartfelt way. There’s a gentle message in the book about not taking advantage of a blessing and caring for others. We liked the audio by Ruth Negga a lot but looking at Daniela Jaglenka Terrazzini’s drawings is quite special as well - maybe combining the book and the wonderfully read audio is the best way to go with this one.

Thank you @netgalley and @dreamscape_media for providing us with an audio copy for this lovely picture book in exchange for an honest review

Maggie O’Farrell, one of my favorite writers of contemporary novels, last year published a magnificent piece of historical fiction . To illustrate her versatility once again, she has written this beautiful little fairy tale for young children or for those who are young at heart.

This is not just about “where snow angels go”, but where they come from - perhaps from the magic and innocence and love in a little girl’s heart. A little over a half hour to listen, it’s a lovely story.

I received a copy of this audiobook from Dreamscape Media through NetGalley.

I received a copy of the audio version of this book from NetGalley for an unbiased review. Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley.

Where Snow Angels Go is the story of a young girl who is awakened by the snow angel that she created one cold, wintery day. The audio version has beautiful, majestic music with intervals and movement that represents snow. You can feel the cold and crisp air just based on the rise and fall of the music.

Irish-Ethiopian actress, Ruth Negga narrates the story and brings Maggie O'Farrell's story to life with her Irish lilt and gate. Paired with the music it was utter perfection.

The plot itself takes us on a discovery of what snow angels are and what their purpose is for us. This book would make the perfect Christmas or Hanukkah gift. There is no specific religion nor theocracy referenced.

Instead we are met with a little girl named Sylvie who is cared for by a supernatural being whose only purpose is to protect her. Sylvie is determined to share this experience with others.

After previewing a short example of the book on Amazon I'd also like to share that the illustrations by Daniela Jaglenka Terrazzini are exquisite.

I plan on buying a hardcopy of this for myself when it comes out as well as buying copies for all of my nieces as Christmas presents.

I listened to this lovely audiobook this morning, a book I’d only noticed yesterday was written by Maggie O’Farrell, narrated by Ruth Negga, with illustrations by Daniela Jaglenka Terrazzini. This is O’Farrell’s debut into the children’s book genre.

One night, a young girl named Sylvie awakens to find a glimmering presence with wings in her room. The snow angel she had made the previous winter has returned. Every snow angel made by someone becomes their real angel who will look after and protect their creator. He has arrived in response to a need he has sensed in her, but he is also surprised by her ability to see him as it violates all the rules. Realizing that she is suffering from a fever, the angel awakens the mother, disappearing before she can see him. Sylvie’s illness lingers for months, but in those months she never forgets that the snow angel was there, and tries to summon his return.

If the illustration for the cover is any indication, this is a beautifully illustrated fairy-tale-like story of a young girl’s belief in the power of wishing and dreams, especially those that come true.

A story for the young, ages 7-10, and the young-at-heart.

What a wonderful surprise to learn that Maggie O'Farrell, author of several brilliant adult novels including Hamnet, wrote a children's picture book in 2020. Many thanks to Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to enjoy an Advanced Listening Copy of the audiobook. Ruth Negga's narration is engaging and expressive, and the musical accompaniment added to the magic of the story.

This is a delightful winter story all children (and adults) can enjoy, regardless of faith tradition. It imagines what happens to snow angels after they're created. The story features Sylvie and a sweet snow-angel-in-training (who reminded me a bit of Clarence from "It's a Wonderful Life").

The perfect reading experience would be snuggling with children you love on a snowy day, listening to the audiobook while looking at the beautiful illustrations by Daniela Jaglenka Terrazzini in a print copy of the book.

I will think of this beautiful story whenever I see snow angels.

What if the snow angels we make were up on a cloud watching out for us? Sylvie wakes up one night to a cold draft in her room that turns out to be a beautiful, though a bit bumbling, snow angel. It is simple science, he says. Things made of steam, water, and ice don't really go away. They just keep cycling around. That night the angel discovers that Sylvie has a fever and covertly wakes the mother so that she checks in on her daughter in the nick of time. Sylvie wants to see her angel again. She has questions. Will he be there when she needs him? Enjoy this heartwarming tale on audio (with a cup of hot chocolate) like I did. Ruth Negga's performance is excellent. The only thing missing is the beautiful illustrations. I will be tracking down a physical copy so I can enjoy them when I listen to the book again.

A big thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for an audio ARC in exchange for an honest review.
