I am sorry for the inconvenience but I don’t have the time to read this anymore and have lost interest in the concept. I believe that it would benefit your book more if I did not skim your book and write a rushed review. Again, I am sorry for the inconvenience.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for giving me a free eARC of this book to read in exchange for my review!

I find everyone on this book deeply annoying and I couldn't get attached to anyone, which made finishing this book so difficult. That being said, the author's a good writer

I actually really enjoyed this story! I had no idea what it was going in because I didn’t read the synopsis (I love the cover), and I was pleasantly surprised!!!! I liked reading about the music scene and while it wasn’t the main part of the story, the bits we do read about are very fun and interesting!!!!

I quite enjoyed the characters! I was thinking about them and I don’t think there is one I don’t like! I love the dynamic between Taryn, Gwen and their mom; I love the relationship between the four band members, and I love Gwen’s bf!

This story has happy, sad, thoughtful, face-palm, fun, exciting, and stupid moments. It really has a bit of everything, including some diversity (F-F relationship).

Something about this one just clicked with me and I connected pretty quickly. Maybe it’s the understanding of feeling lost, I’m not sure, but it was a really great read. Hope you pick it up and give it a try!

Thank you to Sutton Tell, Friesen Press, and Netgalley for a gifted copy in exchange for an honest review!

Maybe it's on me for expecting something different from this book. It jumped from moment to moment and because of that, I felt like not enough depth was put into character development and plot developmnet. But overall, an interesting story.

I think this book is cute. I had read Daisy Jones and the Six a few weeks ago and I was so excited to jump back into a band book. The dynamic and the almost found family of a band atmosphere usually make for such a quick and fun read and that's where I feel this book fell short. It follows this girl with her life falling apart, first her lead singer double crosses the band, then her girlfriend leaves her to pursue her dreams, and then the band falls to shambles.
I ended up DNF-ing this book because I wasn't invested enough. It was a fun read and I got through most of it in four hours but it just seemed like it wasn't headed anywhere. I am excited to see where this author goes with her work, but I just was hoping for a band book and got a girl putting her life back together. I gave this book a solid 3 and a half stars (rounded up) Maybe I could have enjoyed it more if I knew what I was getting into. Who knows?

This ARC was provided to me via Kindle by FriesenPress and #NetGalley for my honest opinion.

A raw, uninhabited look at love, loss and a myriad of emotions. A beautiful read to enjoy unabashedly.

(3.5 stars)

I didn’t love this book, but I didn’t hate it either. It was meh for me and it was hard for me to get into. Though I will say that this type of genre isn’t really my favourite so that might be a me thing. I had a couple of problems with the pacing, but I really liked how it dealt with loss.

If you love contemporary, I’d recommend this even if I didn’t love it.

I’m not sure how I feel about this book, even though it had a few tropes I really like (hiding a relationship from the outside world, successful band, sounded like found family) I didn’t fully enjoy this book.

This book is about Taryn and Shay, they’re in a relationship together, which they hide from the world (they’re both women). After Parker, the lead singer of their band decides to go solo. Shay decided to go see the world so she can take photos of her experiences (she’s a talented photographer). Shay and Taryn aren’t sure how to continue their relationship.

After some events, Taryn, Shay and Parker are all in New York City. Will this resolve in the band getting back together? Will Shay and Taryn get back together?

I had high hopes for this book, but it didn’t really meet them for me. The pacing was what mostly threw me off, especially with how rushed the ending was. As for what I did enjoy, that would be that I could really relate to the emotions shown in this book and how they were shown.

I think this book had a lot of potential, some parts might’ve been reached, but I don’t think it reached its full potential

(Thank you netgalley for providing me with an eARC)

This book seemed like it was going to be exactly up my alley. It had so many elements that I love in books- it was sapphic, a band, lots of drama but it just fell short repeatedly. It had potential but it just didn't live up to it in my opinion. The pacing felt very off and none of the characters had enough depth or personality for me to connect to and I still can't decide if I dislike Taryn or Shay more, neither did anything for me.

Overall this was okay and I managed to finish it but I probably won't remember it for long, unfortunately. It was a good premise that just didn't work for me.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this in exchange for an honest review.

So this book I feel is a very typical debut novel. In all the ways you might expect a debut to go.

There's So Much I Need to Say to You is seen through the eyes of Taryn, who is the guitarist of a band named Pause for Effect. (Which is a pretty solid band name.) Taryn is secretly dating Shay, the bassist. But the band is going through some rough times as their singer wants to do some solo work, and other members want to spend time to themselves- leaving Taryn all alone musically as well as romantically. So she needs to figure out who she is outside of those things to possibly bring everything back together.

I liked the concept of this book a lot, and I've mentioned before how I books about musicians appeals to me with my past as a touring musician. So I had high hopes for this book despite never hearing about it or the author before seeing the book on NetGalley.

But if there is a hiccup a debut book can have, I feel like this book suffers from it.

To begins, to me it seemed like this book was a whole lot of tell and not a lot of show. This book is in first person present with Taryn as the narrator, but events were always seen to be told to us that they were happing by Taryn instead of seeing Taryn's perspective as events happen. And that's a subtle difference in storytelling but it makes a big difference in practice.

There were also a lot of pacing issues in this book- when things happened and the space between events. And the ending felt all very rushed together and all of that really took me out of the book several times.

But what I did like about the book I really liked- the characters were good and the emotions were also depicted pretty well- this book really did make me feel for the losses Taryn was facing and decisions she had to make. Also this book addressed some serious topics pretty well like hidden relationships and loss. It was those elements that kept me reading despite my issues with the book.

I'm going to keep an open mind towards this author's work in the future as I think there is potential there especially with the character work. But this debut had some definite speed bumps for me. 2.5/5

It took me a few chapters to get into the book. Lots of information and characters to proces but once I got into it, I was eager to read more. Taryn goes on an entire journey in this book and I was with her every step of the way. I wondered the same things she wondered and I like that this book was her view on the world around her. The wlw love story isn't the only main story in the book and it's great to see how we get a glimpse of the different relationships in Taryn's life. It's a coming of age book about first love but also about friendship, unconditional sibling love and mourning the loss of a parent.

Some tough topics are addressed in this plot - hiding sexuality while performing in a successful band, unsure how the fans will react; friends for years, building their band to only have the lead vocal bail to do a solo album; growing up.
This book just wasn't for me - the voice didn't work for me.
