I absolutely adored this book, and will rave more about it in a bit. Rebecca is a lovely, vibrant young woman who lives in the country, surrounded by a large and very loving family. She has missed two London seasons because she wanted to be near her family when they needed her, but just when she is finally about to go to London, she is spooked by Benjamin Fortescue, her new neighbor, while she is walking home, and breaks her ankle.

Ben has moved to Lower Alderwood to recover from a very sad event in his life and has kept his true identity (The Earl of Winton) a secret, because he feels that people see the title, rather than the man. Even his own mother makes him feel that his value stems from his position in society rather than for himself as a person. His failed relationship came about because of his title.

He is sad and wants to be alone, but when he unintentionally causes Rebecca's accident, and then finds out that she will not be able to make her long awaited come out, he feels compelled to visit her to cheer her up.

And so, they fall in love! Rebecca reveals her feelings to Ben, "Rebecca was upright and honest and impulsive in sharing her feelings" but Ben cannot reciprocate. He is an incredibly good and caring person, but he suffered a betrayal that has made him leery of falling in love again.

He would like nothing more than to be a part of Rebecca's fun and boisterous family, as he has always been lonely. He had no siblings; his father died relatively young; and his mother remarried and left their home. He craves a loving family, and is pained when he witnesses the love, laughter, and support that Amelia enjoys surrounded by her family, but he doesn’t think he can ever have that because he cannot trust anyone again with his heart. And since Ben is an honorable man, he distances himself from Amelia so as not to lead her on and hurt her.

“Oh, how I love you!” Her words had haunted him; they still haunted him. He wanted to believe them, but he’d believed Gemma, hadn’t he? And what an utter mess that had turned out to be..."

Ben and Rebecca's interactions are at times funny and romantic, and always absorbing. They seem to be made for each other and there is real chemistry between them.

I just loved this book. The writing is smooth and well paced (except the scene describing the accident, is too long and detailed). All the characters are so lovable, and except for a rake, there were no villains in this book which I found refreshing.

I found the societal observations clever and astute. "Mimi and Sophie [seamstresses] seemed like the sort of young women Rebecca would have enjoyed having as friends had they lived in Lower Alderwood. She couldn’t help but think that but for the circumstances of their births, Rebecca herself might be working in a dress shop and Sophie or Mimi might be getting a new wardrobe."

Rebecca is not a vain person. She realizes why the young men of London are flocking to her during the season she ultimately gets to enjoy: “It is clear their interest in me has to do with my connections and little to do with me as a person.” “That is the way of London Society,” Susan said. “Marriage is meant to be a business, you know."

I loved the ending where Rebecca has grown and changed: "Until a mere few weeks ago, the only titled persons she knew had been her parents. Until a mere few weeks ago, she had imagined such people—the nobility, in particular—as daunting and exciting and to be held in awe. Now she was surrounded by them at an intimate, casual supper being held for her and Ben. Because they were far more than titled people. They were new acquaintances, but they had extended friendship to Rebecca and her family generously, beginning with Susan’s arrival in Town. They were generous and kind, and Rebecca had learned to love them all."
The theme could very well be: Titled people are just people after all.

I wish this book had done it for me, but it didn't. It was kind of a bland story with not a lot of development of the characters, it was just suddenly oh I'm in love with you, not a slow burn, but not insta love either.

This was a fine premise for a Regency romance, but as the book went on, it dragged a bit. The growing relationship between Rebecca and Ben Fortescue, Earl of Winton is well-done. The glimpses of the close family relationships among Rebecca and her seven older siblings is quite lovely. But Ben just takes forever to figure things out and it got tedious waiting for him to wake up and realize that he was in love with Rebecca. She started out rather immature as she mourned the accident that prevented her from finally having her Season in London, but it was nice to see her mature as the book went on.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

I love the characters in this story. Rebecca is family oriented, loving and has some spunk. Ben has trust issues, justifiably from his previous marriage. He is widowed with an infant daughter. Yet he is kind and gentlemanly. When an accident befalls Rebecca, due in part to Ben's surprising her, the sparks may just start to fly. I enjoyed this book.

When Rebecca Jennings, trespasses through her neighbors land, she doesn't realize that her life is about to change. Rebecca is looking forward to her first Season, but it seems she is doomed to never arrive.
Ben Fortescue, a young widower, is trying to overcome the angst in his life. He moves into the property he has inherited, and wants to be an unknown gentleman, not his usual title of Lord Winton. Is that just too much to ask?
An accidental meeting, might just turn out to be, the best of an unexpected situation. I enjoyed this story.

I loved how the friendship and romance develops between Rebecca and Ben. The love and connections of the Jennings family really added depth and warmth to the story. Overall a great book!

A clean romance related to "The Duke meets his match" but you don't have to have read that book to enjoy this one. Derek inadvertantly causes Rebecca to fall and break her ankle thus missing her debut.
He tries to cheer her up but at the beginning Rebecca is just resentful that her plans have altered. Their romance continues and we find out that Derek is a widower with a baby daughter. Rebecca is one of a large happy family whilst Derek was an only child,

I'd have liked a bit more passion but it was an easy read,

I received a bit of emotional whiplash with this story. It’s not that the leads were fickle, but that they carried so much angst (Ben in particular). But it’s also a thoroughly engaging tale that I devoured rather quickly.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

AN ACCIDENTAL ROMANCE by KAREN TUFT is a most enjoyable novel with delightful characters, set in Regency England with the pomp and ceremony of the London “ton” together with the simpler country life in Lincolnshire, both very well portrayed.
Rebecca Jennings and Ben Fortescue are neighbours and it is the style between the two properties that is the scene of their first meeting - where Rebecca breaks her ankle. This causes Ben, who feels guilty at causing the accident, to break out of his self-imposed solitude and spend time with her, trying to make amends.
When Ben arrives in Lincolnshire to take up the property he has inherited from his great unce John, he hides the fact that he is, in fact, an earl. He is a broken man and is looking for healing after an unhappy marriage and the death of his wife, leaving him with a baby girl. I like the fact that among Rebecca’s five brothers there is a clergyman whose Bible references seem to speak to Ben’s situation. Rebecca, after her initial frustration with Ben for causing her to miss going to London for her first Season, longs to be able to help this man, that she has come to love, find healing. She has grown up with five brothers and has quite a good understanding of what makes men tick, but she feels he is hiding something from her, that causes him to be rather volatile.
That is all I am going to tell you for fear of spoiling things!
It is a story about letting go of the past and going forward, of taking up one’s responsibilities and of the importance of family. There is also some humour anf lighthearted banter. It is altogether a most worthwhile read.
I was given a free copy of the book by NerGalley from Covenant Communications. The opinions in this review are completely my own.

Thank you net galley for the advance reader copy of this novel. This was a delightful Regency romance that was clean yet a page tuner. I stayed up way too late finishing this!!! I loved the main characters Ben and Rebecca, their interactions and banter. I also was glad to figure out this novel is a series. Rebecca's broken ankle puts her first season in jeopardy but Ben helps to make up the tedium and isolation in healing. Excellent novel and can't wait for another by this author!!!

Benjamin Fortescue, the Earl of Winton is just coming out of a year of mourning. He decides to check on a smaller country estate left to him by an uncle. While there he startles a young woman as she is crossing the style at his fence line. She falls and breaks her ankle. Rebecca is the youngest of the Jennings family and was looking forward to having her season along with her older sister in London. Now she must stay at home to recover. Ben feels guilty and continues to visit her as she recuperates.

Ben has issues of trust stemming from his first marriage. Rebecca only knows that he is a widow with a small child. They start forming a friendship and Rebecca starts hoping for more. I was a little on the fence about the relationship. Ben's continually tells her that he may never marry again or at least not for a long time but he continues with his attention towards her. Once her family is taking care of her it really sends very mixed messages. Rebecca is sweet, kind and swept away with her feelings. I don't mind romances with a modern feel but this one misses that a bit and just ignores some of the regency era rules. Using first names too early and familiarly. Also the lack of chaperone so many times is perplexing. She needs one later in the book when in London so maybe the author assumes that in the country the rules would be less strict.

I like the story overall. Both MC's are overly dramatic at times (especially Ben) but you want them to work things out. The story is also clean with a few kisses. This is part of a regency series by the author but I read as a stand alone. Thank you NetGalley and Covenant Communications for an ARC ebook in exchange for an honest review. (3.5 stars)

I so enjoy Tufts writing style. Her books are always good. The story is simple but she tells them in a way I love. This was a sweet story about a very sad man who meets a very happy girl at a sad time in her life. The love story was sweet. I just found myself sad and wishing things would move along. This is a sweet proper romance with a small Christian element.

An Accidental Romance is a great addition to Karen Tuft's novels about the Jennings family. I have not read all of the previous books but was still able to read and enjoy An Accidental Romance anyways. While it was not necessary to have read the previous books first, I recommend reading them because each of the characters have their own unique story and are delightful to read.
I loved that the characters grew and developed in the course of the book to let go of the past and embrace a future that is different than what they had hoped for or envisioned for themselves, but found nonetheless. Life has a funny way of bringing in twists and turns, but sometimes those are the very things that bring us to the happiness that we wanted or needed all along.
I loved the concept for this story but honestly, at times, found the characters a little dramatic and it took away from completely enjoying the novel. There was an over abundant use of italics to get points across, overly cheesy behavior with a newly married sister, (how many times can we mention she is a duchess?), the hero was heavy handed at times and angry a lot and seemed to change character and opinion to suit the storyline and not be true to the character. All of those are minor things and didn't take too much away from the over involvement of the story, but it was enough that I didn't fall in love with their love story or it didn't come off as victorious in the end, as it could've been.
I believe many will enjoy this story and love the glimpse into characters form the previous stories. There is a long list of friends and family that make up the Jennings family circle and are delightful and fun to read about in their own way. It is also fun to peek into the lives of those in the previous books to see how their lives have continued on.

I LOVED this book! SO much so, that I couldn't put it down! The characters are intriguing and lovable, you cannot help but see yourself among them.

Rebecca Jennings cannot wait to experience her first London season. After having forgone her previous opportunities to have a London season due to family issues, she determines nothing will get in her way. Nothing expect for a broken ankle caused at the hands of a new neighbor. Little does she know, another missed season will lead to exactly what she has been dreaming of her whole life.

Ben Fortescue, Earl of Winton, wants nothing but to escape his previous life and year. He is a widower, a new father, and is struggling to deal with the issues left behind from his loveless marriage. Seeing his inheritance of a country estate as a means to escape, he flees to the country. While walking his property, he comes across Rebecca , who is crossing a stile, accidentally scares her by calling out that causes her to stumble, breaking her ankle.

The friendship and romance that blossoms between Ben and Rebecca is charming, sweet, and enduring. I highly recommend this book!

Thanks to NetGalley and Covenant Communications for the opportunity to enjoy this ARC.

Another great read by Karen Tuft. Rebecca Jennings is finally going to get her first season. That is until her encounter with her new neighbor leads to an injury. Now her dreams are over. Ben Fortescue just wants to finish his year of grieving the loss of his wife in peace. The story that follows is entertaining and was such a fun read. If you have read previous books in this series about the Jennings family, you will enjoy seeing more of Rebecca's family again.

This was a sweet book! I was super excited to read this book because I loved The Duke Meets His Match! I was thrilled to read more about the Jennings family! An Accidental Romance is by Karen Tuft. Okay so I adore the Jennings family, they are a lot of fun and I love their relationships. They clearly love each other and yet they still mess with each other, it reminds me of my own siblings. I was excited to get to read Rebecca's book and see this lovely family again.
Rebecca Jennings is ecstatic to finally be able to come out in Society, however a broken ankle leaves her stranded at home. It was the new neighbor’s fault that this happened after all if he hadn’t startled her, she wouldn’t have fallen. Ben Fortescue feels terrible for his part in Miss Rebecca Jennings’ accident and strives to make it up to her by visiting. However he never expected to find himself trhan to the surprising young women. Will Ben be able to let go of his past and find love? Will Rebecca be able to break through Ben’s walls?
Rebecca was a sweetheart, I loved how she cared for her family but she also stood up for herself. Rebecca was a lot of fun and it was cute to read about her interacting with Ben and falling in love. She didn’t plan on falling in love, but as she spent more time with him, she began to see the kind man hidden behind his mask. I loved how Rebecca wasn’t one to be pushed around and how she encouraged Ben to be the best person he could be no matter his past.
Ben was also kind, I liked how he thought of Rebecca and encouraged her when she was down because of her ankle. However Ben had to work through the demons of his past, he had been hurt before and he was a bit weary of others. But Rebecca helped him see the good in people and helped him reconcile with his past. It was sweet to read about Ben interacting with Rebecca's family and reading about them falling in love.
Rebecca and Ben had a cute relationship and it was fun to read about them falling in love because they didn’t plan on it. Rebecca had high hopes to go to the Season, while Ben was just trying to get by. I also adored Rebecca’s family and I hope that there are more books to come about the remaining siblings!
I really enjoyed An Accidental Romance! It had romance, family and lovely characters! I would totally recommend it! An Accidental Romance is a clean historical romance.

A truly charming tale. A slow burn to build on the emotion. It was a plea to surprise as so many books relate the instant attraction. And while you understand that there was that, it did not determine the relationship but was a slow awakening. watching Ben and Rebecca help each other thru the respective disappointments was very moving. The love that is shown throughout the Jennings family was very poignant and was exactly what Ben needed to mend his broken life. Seeing them come together as a family, with no secrets was truly a very happily ever after.

The sixth book in Karen Tuft's delightful Regency romance series, "An Accidental Romance" features Rebecca Jennings and Benjamin Fortescue, the Earl of Winton. Lucas from "A Gentleman's Deception" and Susan from "The Duke Meets His Match" are Rebecca's elder siblings and are featured here.

The actions of the first half of this novel are concurrent with "The Duke Meets His Match". While Rebecca's distress at being left behind while her sister goes to London is a bit "woe is me" at times, it is perhaps understandable when women's options were so limited. Ben and Rebecca's romance is sweet and develops slowly. However, there are a few bumps in the road. While I personally found Ben's "dark secrets" unsurprising, the final reveal is satisfying.

Tuft's prose is lovely and this book is clean. However, the adoption of using first names upon early acquaintance when addressing non-family members deviates from the Regency norm. This pleasant read stands alone, although I've read the previous five installments and have loved them all.

Thanks to NetGalley and Covenant Communications for an ARC of this charming tale.
