Truly a lovely surprise how fun this book was. It was funny and thrilling and had all the right elements of a cosy mystery. The characters.ate all well-shaped and it was quite easy to get sucked into the story that the author was telling. I'll definitely be reading the followup books in the series.

A light-hearted, amusing book. As it's the first in a series I'm glad I read this book or should I say listened to this book. The story is silly and far-fetched but very amusing; many times I laughed out loud. It's very much in the vein of The Thursday Murder Club. It would make a great TV series.
The narrator's harsh American accent for Charlie was a bit grating at first but I soon got used to it. The other characters' voices were very good and almost forgot it was read by one person.
This is an honest review of a complementary audio copy.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review which has not altered my opinion of this book.

I love me a good cozy mystery as many of you will know by now. This book was a perfect example of a cozy mystery down to matching the formula that I usually find with this genre. This book was witty, funny, personable, and kept me on my toes. From the get go I was captivated by the main character, Charlie, and wanted to know what happened to her. Even now, after finishing the first book, I'm intrigued to see what happens with the continuation of her storyline. Not just hers, but the people she has met, from her amazing best friend, to the cops she has met, to the old ladies who are helping (one of which, Dot, is probably my new favorite person ever), all the way to the gangster she managed to piss off.

That's not to say I didn't predict a solid portion of this book. I will say that there were parts of it that I had not expected and that this book was full of action. However, that was something that threw me off of this particular story. There was a lot going on and it never really felt like we stopped and took a breath. I love an action story as much as the next girl, but this was a bit less like a cozy and more like a...cozy thriller? I'm not sure, it felt a bit fast paced and less relaxed than what I would have expected.

Overall, I genuinely enjoyed this book and plan to continue on with the series. If you are looking for a spunky protagonist who has zero filter when it comes to anything, a beautiful setting, and sassy old ladies who know more than you? This is the perfect book for you. 3.75 out of 5 from me.

Aloha Alibi by Jasmine Webb is the first book in the Charlotte Gibson Mysteries. This is a great beginning to the series, liberally dosed with humor and zany situations and set in Maui. Charlotte, AKA Charlie, is a great main character whose a mom who is trying to marry her off at every turn. She fled to Hawaii to escape gangsters and she is flat broke---living with her mom. When she hears about a reward being offered to anyone who can bring in the murderer of a local businessman, Charlie is all in.
What ensues is an action and humor packed plot. If you enjoy Jana DeLeon, give this a try --- a perfect cozy for relaxing.
I listened to the audiobook and the narrator, Khristine Hvam, was the perfect voice for all the characters. .
Thank you to NetGalley and Blueberry Books for giving me the audio ARC ,at my request, to read and review. My opinions are my own. I review books that I enjoy.

A change of pace, cozy-like mystery. Charlotte, the main character, was likable. The various supporting neighbors, friends, and bad guys were present. I liked the Hawaii setting. And, I liked the story setting from the beginning. Charlotte's sense of humor is maintained to the end.

This is the first in a series to come, and I will keep an ear open for the next.

Narrator Khristine Hvam did a good job.

Thank you NetGalley and Blueberry Books for accepting my request to read and review Aloha Alibi.

I really loved these characters! Charlie, the MC, was so lovable. The author made her life seem like so much fun. Even going to work seemed fun. Left me wanting ice cream too lol. It was an interesting community for sure. All so realistic. It moved pretty quickly and not a dull moment. I liked how the author has the ability to write enough about the murder victim to draw you into his character and want to like him, yet not enough that it won’t devastate you when he dies. There’s a cantankerous cop you will love to hate and one that’s a joy. There were so many hilarious moments. I loved the little old ladies who were trying to solve the crime. They were a hoot. The ending was great! I didn’t see that coming. I wish Charlie and Jake would’ve at least planned a date. I’m hoping so much that they do in future books. But if not, it’s ok because it’s still so much fun. So much could happen on that island with all the characters. I’m going Zoey will be a big character in the next book. And omg, you have got to read this if for no other reason, the mother of Charlie! I have never laughed so hard at her match making ideas. I would’ve been mortified.

If you like audiobooks, you would LOVE this. The narrator is so perfect and fit the character so good. One of the best I’ve heard lately. I totally recommend it.

I really enjoyed this lighthearted mystery novel. I especially enjoyed the two older ladies helping to solve the crime.

4,5
This was really fun and it had me from the beginning. It felt fresh, characters are well developed and lovable. It is well written and flows easily. It is humoristic and the shenanigans main characters got themselves into are hilarious. It does write about serious situations but in a light-hearted way.
Would recommend if you're in a reading slump!

This had me laughing out loud. Just the right blend of humour, danger and badassery fun from the girls. There seemed to be something happening at every turn of the page. I loved that the women were not afraid to use any means necessary to defend themselves. The side characters were all great fun. The old ladies who helped investigate added to the humour and Charlie's mother was a total hoot.

I loved so much about this book. The writing was witty, the characters were funny, and the story moved at a good pace. It kept my interest the whole way through without any slow spots and the whole conspiracy theory about Australia was hysterical. This was a lot like Stephanie Plum except that Charlotte Gibson is more competent so it's a refreshing change. I am looking forward to the next one.

This short read will surely put a smile on your face.

Charlotte leaves Seattle in a hurry after being targeted by a mobster. She arrives in beautiful Hawaii minus job and  money but with a mom and best friend who live there, she manages to to land on her feet……….somewhat.

The costs of living in HI motivates her to try to solve a murder mystery which offers a huge financial reward. Unfortunately she’s not the only one with this goal. Here she meets up with two “old” ladies with their own set of skills and they forge a relationship and become a trio to be reckoned with….much to the chagrin of the local police.

The banter between all the characters and their escapades keep the story moving at a brisk pace.

I would certainly be interested to see if Charlotte and her new found friends have a future together.

This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review

Being my first audiobook, Aloha Alibi gave me so much joy while listening.
The story follows Charlotte "Charlie" who moves back to Maui Hawaii to reunite with her family and seek refuge after she kills the brother of a gang in Seattle.

And as soon as Charlie settles down to pick up her life she is thrown back into a life of investigating a murder case with two older women, Rosie and Dorathy.

What I loved so much about this story was the narrator. She had this way of putting life to the character's personalities with how she made each one of them sounded.

The plot was a little cliché but then, it was still interesting to see older women playing protagonists along a younger woman. We hardly get that in books, so it was a first.

Really enjoyed this story, New beginings, rekindling of old friendships and the start of new ones. All pulled together by murder. Well narrated.

3.75 stars. I was in the mood for a cozy mystery and got my fix with this. Adorable but yet badass characters. Fun mystery which kept me guessing. Narrator was excellent.

Thank you to Blueberry Book and Netgalley for the ALC.

Charlotte or Charlie as she likes to be called has found herself in the middle of a mess at the onset of this story. Honestly she finds herself in messes its pretty much her life. But this mess that opens the book involves her in the middle of a robbery, a murder (in self defense, and hot trouble. All of this before she arrives in Hawaii where trouble seems to materialize on the island not long after her arrival.

Aloha Alibi is a fun cozy mystery full of fun characters including Charlie. The pacing of the book was perfect for a light murder mystery read with an unlikely, haphazard who done it mystery solver in Charlie and her two unlikely friends.

I cannot wait for the next installment!

There were some really great thing about this book and some that didn't quite work for me. First, I really enjoyed the narrator for this one and I thought she did a really great job. I enjoyed the sassy tone to the novel and the main character. I felt that the writer did a good job developing her characters and they were enjoyable to read about, with the exception of Charlies mother who was a bit cringey. The other issue I had was the believability of the book. Normally I can let some things slide but there were a few too many in here for me. Overall I give it 3.5 stars and I would give future books a chance.

Thank you to NetGalley and Blueberry Books (love the name) for the audiobook. Oh at first the main character was getting on my nerves being so judgmental about every other character but eventually that did die down and did become likable. With that being said: What a fun and quirky cozy mystery. The narrator did a great job did not have any difficulties distinguishing between the different characters. Hope to read and listen to more by this author and narrator.

Good mystery book!

This book took me away to Hawaii to help solve a murder. The main character goes to Hawaii to get away from mobsters. Then right when she gets to town, a murder happens near work. There is a $100,000 reward to find the killer and the main character and two older ladies join forces to solve the murder and get the reward.

The book was just the right pace and I would definitely read more of the authors books.

What a treat! This book had all the standard elements - plucky heroine, loyal best friend, quirky sidekicks, potential love interest, and murder - but was fresh, fun, and full of twists I didn’t expect. The depiction of Maui from the locals to the scenery was spot-on and incredibly fun (**standby…booking flights to Maui**) and made me want to visit! I am thrilled this is the first in a series and can’t wait to read all the next ones!

I had Friday off of work and I had just finished the audiobook I was listening to. I planned on cleaning the house so I needed something to keep me entertained. I hit the Listen Now section of Netgalley and found a cozy mystery. Aloha Alibi is the first book in Jasmine Webb's Charlotte Gibson mystery and it is set in Hawaii. It was a cold, gray day so a fun story set in a warm, sunny place sounded perfect.

I immediately liked the main character Charlotte (Charlie). She is going to be a great cozy mystery sleuth. She is quirky enough that the bizarre situations she finds herself in are comical, without feeling ridiculous or too over the top. I liked her best friend Zoe. She is definitely the straight-laced character to Charlie's "funny man" character. But that doesn't mean she isn't fun. I also enjoyed Dot and Rosie, amateur sleuths in their seventies who Charlie teams up with to solve the murder mystery. They are a great counterbalance to Charlie's youth. The only character I didn't like was Charlie's mom. The only purpose the character seems to serve is to embarrass Charlie with inappropriate sex advice. I'm glad she is a minor character that has only brief scenes.

I've watched a lot of TV shows set in Hawaii - Magnum PI, Hawaii Five-O, NCIS Hawaii. Those shows have a new murder just about every week so I found Charlie's line about the cops not having much experience with murder (or crime at all) kind of funny.

I don't always enjoy the first book in a series, but I found this one really fun. I hated when my phone's battery ran out and I couldn't continue listening to the book until it had recharged. I didn't want to put the book down. I have to say that my housework went by quickly as the book kept me entertained.

If you are looking for a charming cast of characters and a cute mystery story, then definitely get this book.
