I recieved a copy of this book through netgalley in exchange for an honest review...

So I normally don't read books to my my kids from the tablet, but tonight I'm under the weather and needed a quick and fun new read for them.
I found this one and really loved the cover and the blurb given.
The book was an easy and quick read and both my kids enjoyed listening to me read it. I loved the lessons of friendship and conquering your fears that it represents. I will definitely read this to my kids again.

Are you, or a child you know, a Walter or a Willy? Walter is not scared of anything while Willy is not very brave. What will happen when Willy takes a trip to the city and is (even more) out of his comfort zone? Read this title to find out.

The illustrations are playful and engaging. They allow readers to “see” who Walter and Willy are. The placement of the text also adds to the movement of the story.

This is simply a nice book. It could be a good jumping off point for some discussion or a book to read and from which to take a subtle message.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Walter and Willy Go to the City is a tale of two friends who are both scared of different things, but help each other be brave along the way. I loved the message of this story - it’s ok if you’re afraid of something or not good with the unexpected because there is always someone who will have your back. Walter is bold and I afraid, where Willy is more reserved and fearful of things. When Willy takes Walter to the city for pizza, the roles are swapped and it’s Walter who is fearful. They manage to have fun together and help one another along the way.

I adored the illustrations in this book. They were well drawn and colorful. The little pig characters were very cute and had their own personalities. This book is perfect for any child who is fearful of changes or a little anxious at times.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a review copy.

An adorable little book about how we all are afraid sometimes, and that's okay. It's good to have friends who help you navigate the world who don't see it in the same way you do.

In this, a brave young pig – who can stand up to football bullies, sea waves and more – goads a young friend into going on the scarily long bus to the frightfully imposing and busy city for – well, you'll have to read it to find out why. It manages to be an issue book, in that it's about taking the bull by the horns and being a little braver in life, and a suitable story, with the entertainment the pigs provide being added to by the discovery that they seem to be of Italian origin. I'm sure some snowflakes will see the braver pig's activity as close to abduction and torture of the more tender character, but as the book proves you have to put the effort in to reap a reward, and that applies to where your fears are concerned as well as to so many other times in life.

No one is brave all the time. What I loved in this book is that both characters had their time to be bold and courageous and anxious and apprehensive. They both managed their feelings and supported each other like good friends. They both left space for each other to be who they were and ask for what they needed.

This would be a great group read and an excellent addition to school, classroom, and personal libraries. The illustrations are fun and engaging and this story will be very relatable for young readers. There could be lots of great conversations about when we feel brave and when we feel scared.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!

Part of the Walter and Willy series, this cute picture book shows us that even those full of confidence can find themselves in a situation where they feel worried and cautious. And this is absolutely fine. The book is about two piglets who instead of ridiculing the other for being shy, support each other, and go for an adventure in the city.
Great content in a nice packaging - kudos to the illustrator!

Many thanks for NetGalley and Clavis Publishing for this Advance Reading Copy.

ARC REVIEW:

This delightful picture book shows how two friends can be opposites, but still compliment each others. Adorable illustrations, a lesson in bravery/trust, and easy to follow text make this one a winner.
