The View From Coral Cove by Amy Clipston is a heartwarming story of romance author Maya who inherits her great-aunts toy store. This is a nicely written story that pulled me in right away and kept me focused to the very end. I just loved the way the Maya meets Brody, the local veterinarian. Not only does he have snuggly kittens, he’s a single dad to an adorable little girl. I enjoyed reading how Maya worked through her broken engagement while she dealt with her great-aunt’s belongings. It was fun to see how she tried to grow the business. This is a good clean story of second chances and building a relationship.

This reminded me of a Hallmark movie. It was a sweet romance with a few conflicts along the way.

I was disappointed that Maya was not more independent. She felt the need to have a man and a family - she was not content to be alone until the right person came along. I did like Maya's relationship with Ashlyn. I also enjoyed the story line of her looking for her father.

The ending is what you expect - happily ever after, but it came too fast after Maya's feelings flop back and forth and Brody is all of a sudden willing to commit.

This is a charming book set in a small-town, and Clipston and her characters make the reader feel a part of the story. My favorite characters were Maya and Ashlyn, but all were well-developed and realistic. If you're looking for a lighthearted read, this would make a great beach read. While it's not Amish (as Clipston is well-known for, it is a clean read/sweet love story). It has a bit of something for everyone, including a child, a kitten, and even a bit of mystery. Forgiveness, reconciliation, and love area key themes. The pace was a bit slower than I would have preferred, but it was an enjoyable read overall.

Romance novelist Maya Reynolds returns to Coral Cove to take over her great aunt's toy store and make a fresh start after her broken engagement. She meets veterinarian Brody Tanner and his daughter Ashlyn when a kitten, escaping from a pet adoption event, runs into the toy store. Due to the failed romances in both Maya's and Brody's lives, they are hesitant about how to handle the growing attraction. As Brody helps Maya deal with a secret about her father, it's harder to ignore how they feel. The appearance of Maya's ex complicates matters. Will they be able to leave the past behind and move forward?
Charming story about family and friendship.

Compelling, engaging, and heartwarming. It's a perfect book when you want something light, clean-read with a HEA ending. I read it over the course of a day and thought my time was well spent!

Newly jilted Maya Reynolds, who is a romance novelist, moves to Coral Cove, North Carolina after her great-aunt passes away leaving Maya her toy store and apartment. Her mother passed away a few years before and her father has never been in the picture. Heartbroken and totally alone in the world, she is in a total writer’s block and is not sure she can overcome it.

She makes friends with the local veterinarian and his daughter when she is talked into adopting a kitten. She soon falls in love with the daughter and her father, Brody, but does not believe he will ever return her feelings. Maya comes across as very needy and “wishy-washy”.

The story moved along slower than I would have preferred. I would recommend it to anyone enjoying sweet romances, but be prepared for it to take a while to get there. I received a copy of the book from NetGalley and Thomas Nelson. Opinions expressed are my own.

I loved this story. Maya has lost everyone she ever cared about - her mother, her great aunt and her fiance dumped her. She moved back to Coral Cove where she had spent many happy summer with her great aunt. When her aunt died, she left her her toy store and an apartment above. She was starting over. One of her first days there, a kitten ran into the store and climbed up on her lap. She soon met Ashlyn and her father Brody. That started a friendship that would continue to grow. There were two side stories that were very interesting.- her ex and possibly finding her father. I wasn't sure how either were going to go.
The characters in this story were all wonderful and the book was very easy to read. I enjoyed every word of it.

I got this book from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I'm a fan of sweet, wholesome romances set in small towns. Amy Clipston is prolific in the Amish fiction market, so I thought I'd give her new contemporary romance a chance. I did enjoy the coastal North Carolina setting, the sense of community, and the patriotic parade. Brody is an appealing hero with a strong single dad vibe. The little girl in the story is cute and spunky as well. Overall, this one was a challenge for me to read. The dialogue is super stilted and very chaste. Maya comes across as weak and desperate in some of her interactions with other characters, which made her hard for me to like or even root for. I didn't find her naivete to be plausible. The average 29 year old doesn't talk or act like Maya and her bestie do. Also, the cat subplot was a bit much for me and the pace is painfully slow.
Thanks to the publisher for the opportunity read an early copy. This one just isn't for me.

I realize that this is supposed to be a happily ever after book but holy buckets, let's not suspend all reality!
As an adopted person this book suspends all reality. It is utterly ridiculous.

This was such a great read, your going to love Ashlyn, well, there are a lot of great characters here.

The author gives us a young women who really wants to be married and have a family, she has had many losses in her life, and now inheriting her aunt's toy store, has been given a new start.

Enter Brody Tanner and his daughter Ashlyn into the toy store, and now we have attraction!

We are given some sweet romance, some drama, beach town life, a delightful little girl, and decisions that can change their lives!

My main criticism, is the publisher is Thomas Nelson, but this is a clean read, not Christian.

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Thomas Nelson, and was not required to give a positive review.

This is a good clean romance that starts with a kitten & an adorable girl running into Maya, our main character. This leads to the good looking single dad following that up. The ups & down's of their story are interesting although I did find Maya a little annoying because she's too quick on in her responses, which you will understand when you read this. I don't want to give anything away. :-)

THE VIEW FROM CORAL COVE is a charming novel. There's a kitten and a sweet 8-year-old girl and two adults who struggle with self doubt. And did I mention a lovely North Carolina setting?

The plot does not break any new ground, but readers looking for a comforting happily-ever-after will enjoy this one.

Highly recommended for fans of clean romance.

If you want to read a clean romance then this is the book for you! Amy Clipston can write either Amish or contemporary romance and both genres make for quite an enjoyable reading experience.

Coral Cove sounds like a place I'd love to visit. I love the beachy, small-town feel. Maya and Brody's story makes you feel like you could live in this sweet little town and be friends with them. My heart went out to little Ashlyn and I loved that rascally kitty.

Try a book by Amy Clipston...you won't go wrong with any of them!

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review. All opinions are my own.

"The View from Coral Cove" by Amy Clipston
Sweet & Clean and packed with Emotions
Yes, there is life and love after being jilted. But it can be a very bumpy road and possibly quite long. That said, I am ever so glad I found this story. Yes, there were times of uncontrolled tears, but there were times of smiles and good cheer, too. I was thoroughly captivated by the principles in this story 'Tinker Bell', Maya, Ashlyn, and Brody. I did love this story. Happy Reading ! !

Heartwarming and fast read. The characters were easy to follow and interesting. Typical story for those who love a happy ending. Family values and love are an excellent story. Recommend.

I am kind of ambivalent about this story. So many times as I was reading, I just wanted to shake some sense into Maya and Brody. Each of them had many unresolved issues and low self-esteem which caused them to be hesitant to have any kind of romantic relationship. This was a clean book with very little romance. It’s labeled Christian fiction, but I never really saw either one of them depend upon their faith to help them navigate their life circumstances. I am sure there are women in real life who are as desperate as Maya for a husband and a family, but she really drove me crazy some of the time. I stuck it out to the end, but I guess 3 stars is about as good as I can give.

I really enjoyed Maya and Brody's story. Amy Clipston has done a wonderful job of capturing how grief and family secrets can mess with our lives, especially when people are no longer around to answer our questions. Yet, this is all handled in a kind and gentle way that honors those who have gone before us.

I found the characters in this story to be warm and welcoming, and I loved getting to know them.

Thank you Amy Clipston, NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for the advance review copy.

Unfortunately this book has a very thin plot and about zero romance. The protagonist Maya is just not that interesting and also comes across weak and desperate at various points. I was concerned at the very badly written prologue, which is supposed to be a flashback to Maya’s childhood, as it was pretty bad but I assumed she just couldn’t write children well, however that’s not true because Ashlyn is a cute character which just makes the awful prologue more confusing. Brody is a good man who has had his heart broken and is not very trusting anymore. Unfortunately he’s so closed off that there’s zero romance to be found here. Most of the plot seems to be about frankly boring bits of Maya’s life running a store and her new family revelations which is just not what I expected or very interesting. It is a very clean book if that matters to you. This was just too boring and uninteresting for me. I received a complimentary copy of this book. This is an entertaining, touching romance. It makes a good “summer beach read” with delightful characters and a good, clean story. I enjoyed it!

Amy Clipston is one of my all time favorite authors, and I've read and loved many of her Amish fiction titles over the years. The contemporary genre is still a relatively new endeavor for her, and I had really enjoyed her first release within this genre last year. The View From Coral Cove sounded like a sweet, heartwarming romance, and I loved the idea of it being set in a seaside town, and that the main character Maya was a best selling author. I couldn't wait to dive right into this one, and I have to say that I honestly ended up enjoying it even more than I did her first contemporary release.

The plot was well paced, and kept me engaged right through. Maya is a likeable protagonist, and I thought all her struggles were presented authentically, and I definitely found myself sympathizing with her over everything she was going through. The romance is definitely slow burn, and I loved that. The reader gets to see Maya and Brody first and foremost develop a beautiful friendship that starts to turn into something more, and Maya's growing special relationship with Brody's daughter Ashlyn was extra special, and added another heartwarming element to the beautiful story.

However, my favorite part of the story actually ended up being the focus on Maya's search to find the truth about her father, and the corresponding plot points that follow her doing so. I loved how Amy Clipston dived into the insecurities and feelings that had developed for Maya growing up believing her father had never wanted her, and how it ended up leading her down a path of wanting relationships for the wrong reasons.

All in all, I really enjoyed this second heartwarming contemporary from Amy Clipston, and I read the majority of it in a couple of sittings. While I would still say that I enjoy her Amish fiction titles a bit more, her contemporaries are worthy contenders in their own right, and I look forward to reading more from her in the future.

Final Rating: 4/5.

Definitely check this one out if you're a fan of clean, heartwarming contemporaries that focus around family and friendships. I think this one would make an excellent beach read for this summer.

Thanks so much to Thomas Nelson for allowing me to advance read and review this one!
