*I had the absolute privilege of getting an ARC from the publisher, BooksGoSocial, and Netgalley and I could not be more grateful. All thoughts and comments are my own.*

I read a LOT and am always looking for a new author to obsess about. So when I saw this series, I was seriously intrigued.

For the past five years, Myla has lived for the days she gets to fight in Purgatory’s arena. When souls want a trial by combat for their right to enter Heaven or Hell, they go up against her, and she hasn’t lost a battle yet. But as she starts her senior year at Purgatory High, the arena fights aren’t enough to keep her spirits up anymore. When the demons start to act weird, even for demons, and the King of the Demons, Armageddon, shows up at Myla’s school, she knows that things are changing and it’s not looking good for the quasi-demons.

The book was written on course for a young adult book. As Myla is 18, most all the characters act, well, fairly childish... you know, if you exclude the whole fighting to the death or whatever.

I really enjoyed the overall story and was fully engaged with the whole Lincoln thing. (Heh, heh, not giving away things). Anywho. I was engaged and entertained This is a clean story and has a love interest but no "romance" per see just yet.

I am looking forward to the next in the series, Scala.

Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher/author for providing me with an e-copy in exchange for my honest review.

This book was exactly what I wanted it to be! I loved it. I will make sure to check out other books by this author. When I requested this I was just intrigued by the concept of it and I loved how it turned out. This story had a great plot and if you have read this and enjoyed it, This was so much. It was such a great story. I would say give this one a try. I will continue to follow this author. Way to go to this author for not letting me down.

The first book in the Angelbound series and it did not disappoint! I loved everything about this book and can’t wait to continue on with the others.

Myla Lewis is an 18 year old quasi-demon - she is half demon, half human. She is one of the few to have a pointed tail - perfect for battle. Myla loves to fight! It is her passion and she thrives at it, so when Myla is called to the arena for battle she cannot turn it down!

Myla lives with her mum in Pergatory… however something feels off and the King of Hell acting bizarre.

Will Myla get to the bottom of it? Is she powerful enough to take on a King of Hell?

Highly recommend picking this up! Especially if, like me, you also enjoy fantasy! This has everything you could want along with some romance too.

As usual, this writer was amazing. I wasn't fond of the cover art though, felt a little homemade. Can't wait to read more.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Myla is a badass half demon living in purgatory and she could totally kick your ass.
This book was fun, but it wasn’t really for me. I had a hard time connecting with the characters though the premise was super interesting.

Thank you NetGalley for sending this arc for an honest review!

I was not intrigued by the plot whatsoever and the cover keeps throwing me off. I wish I had a better review for this because I felt like this book could have had potential.

While this book was a bit too long, in my opinion, it was well written.

Myla was fantastically written. She is one of the better mc heroines I've read in YA ficition in a long time. She's funny, clever, witty, while also being sweet and sensitive and she was a beautiful blended and complex character.

Lincoln was hard to like until near the end of the story, but he was redeemable and it wasn't far fetched.

Overall, most of the side characters were written well and not too caricaturist, and even the only character that was unlikable through the whole thing, Cissy, was consistently written.

I loved the supernatural aspect as well and I felt like the author had a new and fresh perspective on the idea of heaven and hell and good vs. evil.

This book was a great discovery. I found the world very interesting with the classic elements of Hell & Heaven (angels and demons) completed by the quasis and the thrax, which are partly human, angel and/or demon, and also by the ghouls. The different ‘species’ were very well explained, particularly the thrax etiquette, and it was easy to differentiate them. It was fun to see that the personalities of the quasis depended on one of the seven sins such as Wrath for Myla and Envy for her best friend Cissy. I totally loved the latter which I found very funny with her (slight) obsession for Zeke and her jealousy when someone approaches Myla.

The book is very easy to read and fast-paced thanks to the sassy and mischievous main characters. I enjoyed the relationship between them even if the part where they were at odds was the funniest one. I’m impressed by the skill of the author in making two characters that perfectly complement each other. For once, our heroine doesn’t lose her temper when she falls in love and is forming a team with Lincoln. My favourite characteristic was her tail, which made me smile each time it was evoked. Following the idea of Myla remaining quite hot-headed is my main complaint about this book: I simply didn’t understand her reaction in the final fight scene which seems very far from her usual behaviour.

Overall, a very good reading experience and I definitively advise this book for the lovers of YA fantasy!

Great book a new Kind of mystery with angels, demons and ghouls. And a brave young woman who saves her world.

I really enjoyed the characters and worldbuilding of this story, it was lush and incredibly capturing, however, that’s all it really was. There was some plot issues I found personally that I just didn’t connect with. I would recommend this to fans of The Mortal Instruments series though! Thank you for allowing me to read this

This was a great and original young adult fantasy with a kick-ass female main character named Maya who lives in Purgatory. There's ghouls, demons, angels, deadly sins, humor and even a little romance. The book, although the first in a series, has an actual ending but still leaves you wanting more. Can't wait to continue with the series!

Where to start with this book...

Characters-

All of the characters feel pretty one dimensional and kind if childish. As well they are very very similar in certain moments as if the author could have merged them into one and it would have worked.

I also don't like how the "diversity" of the characters is handled.

Plot -

It is pretty flat and took a few chapters to actually get into it.

World -

The world is cool. I think the author had a very cool idea with this! I just wish it could have all been fleshed out better.

Overall -

I had high hopes for this but it all fell pretty flat.

Angelbound by Christina Bauer.
Angelbound origins book 1.
Eighteen-year-old Myla Lewis is a girl who loves two things: kicking ass and kicking ass. She’s not your every day quasi-demon, part-demon and part-human, girl.

I really can not make my mind up about this book. I liked it but I found it a little long.
But, then again the lead character is seriously kick-ass.

I guess I found it a little immature but then again it is a YA novel.

I liked the way the author did the world building, and I really liked the different creatures.
It's definitely a page turner and it does keep you on your toes.

Overall its a good read and worth a look.

I read this book a little while ago but wanted to re-read it because it was so good . I requested it from NetGalley. What else can I say about this series that I haven't already said? Myla is a wonderful character. Fun, brave, straight-forward, spunky, sassy.... and just all around wonderful. I have forgotten how much fun it was when Lincoln and Myla first met too. :) All the misunderstandings and insecurities... Let's just say that it ends wonderfully...

Thanks to the publisher for providing this arc.
