Love stories can be a struggle for me to read sometimes and to be honest this book had way too much going on sometimes - like siblings on siblings on siblings all friends which I get it - coming back for a reunion. But like I felt like at some points I had to make a spreadsheet to keep up with where I was at which just did not make this enjoyable. Basically the parents of the main siblings who just do not get along have the absolute best marriage on the planet and the siblings feel horrible about themselves and compare themselves to their parents because they are not in serious relationships. They do not feel they are good enough. Blah blah blah. It was honest hard to read at points. Then went almost ridiculously too cliche perfect and lovely dovey. Just couldn’t really get on board. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Families come in all different shapes and sizes. I know my family is certainly different from my best friends family. Meghan portrayed this perfectly in The Reunion. I know, with confidence, that every time I read a MQ book, it’s soon to become a favorite. I just adore the way she writes. I love that her characters are always loveable and relatable. I can actually feel the emotions and heart of every character. The Chance family was no different. They were me and you. They were the family down the street. They are in all of us. The dynamic this family had was so dysfunctional at times, but I think that’s what made them real. I loved this story and I think it will become a favorite of anyone who reads it.

This was only my second Meghan Quinn book, but I'm quickly becoming a big fan. I was nervous I'd get loss with the multiple perspectives in the Reunion, but I ended up really liking to see everyone's side of the story.
The Chance siblings are reuniting for their parents' wedding anniversary, but keep bickering via email (and later in person) as they try to plan their party. I think most people can relate to arguing with their siblings, but it was also clear there was a lot of bad blood/history amongst the siblings. It was fascinating how their relationship issues escalated until they were falling apart before any of the siblings was able to improve them. I absolutely loved the ending (and might have teared up a bit.)

Thank you for the arc in exchange for an honest review. I can't wait to read my next Meghan Quinn book!

I will update with the link when I share to my bookstagram account.

Ummmm....Wow. Meghan Quinn swung for the fences in writing this one with SIX points of view and strangely it worked. At first I was skeptical how even Meghan was going to pull off so many POVs and story lines. Not gonna lie...I was worried it would be too much to follow especially since this is a relatively long book for a romance. But this one kept my interest and kept me turning the pages the whole time.

Despite being siblings Ford, Cooper and Palmer each had a unique story to be told and a unique journey to their parents' anniversary party which reunited them. It was easy to get sucked into the stories as followed each sibling and their love interests on this return home.

There is Ford, the oldest sibling who brought home work and of course his "assistant" and closest person to him, Larkin. Their story was endearing and I often found myself wanting to reach through the book and just hug Ford until he started to let down some of the walls he had amassed around himself.

Then there is Cooper, the middle child and Nora, the town baker who also happens to have been best friends with Cooper's ex-wife. Oh Cooper. There is one scene with Cooper that had me wheezing I was laughing so hard. He is goofy and fun and oh so lovable. He is the one I wanted to take home with me. I wanted him to have a happy ending so much.

And lastly Palmer. I felt this was really, as much as anything Palmer's story. My heart broke over and over again for Palmer. I sobbed through the last part of this book because of parts of her story and my heart just kept breaking for her. She has a long history Beau and man is their story something that will just give you all the feels.

This book is beautifully done and will give you all the feels. It had a more low key and subdued tone than some of Meghan's sports romances or even the Highland Fling. This book was clearly meant to focus on family and how crazy families can be. But the bottom line is, it's okay if your family is "normal" (whatever that is) or crazy, they are yours. And that is what matters.

Meghan has truly outdone herself on this one. I loved it.

THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING!!

I didn't know this was the book I needed when I picked it up. There's been so many projects that I stressed over and this book just helped me through it with the beautiful writing, the dynamic characters and the amazing story! The book follows the Chance siblings when they all come back home to throw an anniversary party for their parents when they just can't get along, and it shows the family dynamic and how distance and not voicing your thoughts can cause so much distress within a family, and just how not every family is perfect. Even if they seem perfect from the outside, that may not be the case behind the scenes.

Also, if you read this amazing book, be sure to read the author's acknowledgment in the back!! This book was personal for her and that made it 10x more amazing and heartfelt. I recommend it to everyone!

Out February 22!

Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake for the earc in return for an honest review.

Review posted to blog: https://books-are-a-girls-best-friend.com/

Family, Friendship, Love & Sibling Rivalry.

Martin and Peggy Chance worked hard to build and create a beautiful family for their three children, Ford, Cooper, and Palmer. Unfortunately for them, everything they’ve built has fallen apart, including their family, the lives and loves of their children, and their family business. Now it’s going to take drastic measures to make everything alright.

Having read and loved Meghan Quinn’s last book, The Wedding Game, I jumped at the chance (no pun intended) to read The Reunion. Unfortunately, I didn’t quite love this book as much as the last. For me, this was missing the fun, light, spark of the last book. Here, we have 3 siblings, who were once very close and who have grown apart, and the family bond and their family business are suffering because of it. While they are now navigating romantic relationships, those too are failing because their lives are a mess. At this point, they must figure out what’s gone wrong with their family unit, in order to make everything else go right.

What I Loved: The relationship with Ford and Larkin. I adored Larkin. Let me just say that Ford was darn lucky. The same goes for Cooper and Nora. Nora’s snarkiness was the bomb!

What I disliked: Palmer. There was nothing about Palmer that I liked. The same goes for Palmer and Beau. Sadly, while I’m all for families and siblings repairing their relationships, this element of the story was lackluster and in the end, I felt like there was way too much going on in this novel.

Though this wasn’t my favorite novel, I still enjoyed the writing and the relationships for the most part and will be on the lookout for Meghan Quinn’s next novel.

Thanks to NetGalley and Montlake for the arc.

The Reunion is the second Meghan Quinn novel I have read this year - and this will absolutely be in my top 5 of 2021..

This story had absolutely everything you want in a story. Witty humor that has you absolutely laughing out loud, romance, family dynamics and drama too.

Peggy and Martin are about to celebrate their 50th Anniversary - which brings their estranged children back to their family home on Marina Island outside of Seattle. I’ll add - Peggy Chance is one of the funniest, snarkiest mama’s I’ve read in a long time. She is absolutely a hidden gem in this story of the Chance Family.

The Reunion is told in six different POVs - each of the Chance Children, and their respective friends/partners. The different perspectives give great insight into the characters and makes you really root for them to have a win for once! There is added romance, ad ding to the overall beauty of this story. (I mean doesn’t everyone want a Dr Beau in their life!!)

Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake Romance for an Advanced copy - in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

The Reunion by Meghan Quinn is a hard one to review for me. There was so much going on and while I appreciated the different POV it was almost too many. I did enjoy this family and their dynamic, but found myself not completely invested in the story.
I think many will enjoy this one and it’s definitely worth the read if you like this sort of book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake for the opportunity to read this book for an honest review.

WOW this book was amazing. It followed the Chance siblings, Ford, Cooper, and Palmer as they returned to their family home on Marina Island to help celebrate their parents wedding anniversary... I know it doesn't sound like a romance but I promise it was that and so much more. These siblings had so much to work through as a family and as individuals and they did that in spades while each one also established a new direction for themselves and found their very own happily ever ever. Meghan Quinn, told this story using 6 different POV which gave a unique insight into not only the happenings but also how other's actions were received and perceived. As a reader we were able to see how although we may love and sympathize with a character, when taken from a different perspective we might not like their choices so much anymore or that there are other opinions that should also be valued. felt evenly spaced out.

Each sibling had so much to unpack and each had a very unique journey to walk while still overlapping and bickering amongst each other. I loved the dynamic between all of them that showed that deeply rooted frustration and love mingled together that you can only see in close and loving families.

This book was also so funny with Palmer being my favorite ridiculous character with her amazing physical comedy. I felt like she and I would definitely get along.

I highly recommend this book!!

I'm so happy that I was able to read this early and look forward to. more from Meghan Quinn.

Great book by Meghan Quinn . I always like her books and this one was no different. It follows three siblings that do not get along and have their own problems as they come home to plan their parents 50th wedding anniversary. It is funny and of course had romance in it.

Honestly this was a funny, snarky, romance following three siblings navigating their own sibling spats & romances. You get THE ELITE romance tropes - CEO and Employee, Second Chance, and Childhood crushes! Plus some spice, and a solid plot that doesn’t leave you feeling whiplash with 6 POV’s!

Firstly, I would like to thank Montlake Publishing, and NetGalley, for the privilege to read this eARC, in exchange for my honest review!

Brief Plot (without spoilers): In The Reunion, by Meghan Quinn, Ford, Cooper, and Palmer, are planning their parents 50th wedding anniversary party, at the same time bickering over their company, and their wavering management styles and party planning mentalities.

My review: I. LOVED. THIS. BOOK! You get romance and family drama! you get spice without just being pent up and frustrated over other plot lines! And, with multiple story lines, I gotta say I loved Palmers the most. She is so fun, sassy, and unfiltered, which made any conversation she had hilarious.

When I saw this book was from multiple POV's I was a bit apprehensive however I really enjoyed the characters and I didn't struggle to keep a track of the different characters like I thought I might.

My favourite couple changed depending on their circumstances and I enjoyed the slight differences in the relationships.

However the relationships all felt a bit too similar. Despite the different connections (workplace romance, childhood friends/crush, ex's best friend) all the relationships started at the same stage so everything happened at the same time. It meant the beginning felt really slow as the relationships were building up, then they were all happy at the same time then everything fell apart at the same time and it started to feel a bit chaotic. Because we were witnessing three relationships at once in the span of the average novel I never felt that much of a connection to any couple and never felt like it went deep enough with any of them which was disappointing as I thought all couples had real potential.

As I've felt with a few of Meghan's previous books the conflict felt quite toxic between the siblings and was resolved way too quickly for how severe their falling out was.

First, I love Meghan Quinn! She is a fabulous author! The Reunion shows us again how amazing she writes. We have a story of three siblings coming back to their northwest home town to have a surprise party for their parents 50th anniversary. While the siblings never really got along, they play nice in front of their family. But their emails had me cracking up. This is a great story with some steamy scenes which I always love. This book could have been a series but it definitely was great as a whole. Will always read Meghan Quinn when I have the chance.

The Reunion by Meghan Quinn a fabulous five-star read. This one, pulls all of the stops out of the bag, it shows us real family drama and dynamics, there is a great story and some truly fantastic characters in this story. This is funny, real and dramatic all rolled into one fantastic bundle, the setting, the store and the party all set amazing scenes and watching the three siblings figure their true path made this one of the best stories I will read this year, there wasn’t one scene or page that didn’t need to be there, each scene and character had their place. It just reinforces what a great author Meghan Quinn is.

GAH MEGHAN QUINN CAN DO NO WRONG! When I heard she was writing a book with SIX POV’s, I knew it was going to be something special. You can tell how much she put into writing this book. I loved the family dynamics and all of the relationships. Quinn has officially solidified herself as one of my favorite rom-com authors and I can’t wait to read more from her.

I really was not prepared for how much I enjoyed this book. I'd never read one of Meghan Quinn's books before this one, but I'll certainly be looking for others now - count me in as an official fan.

The Reunion is about the three Chance siblings - Ford, Cooper, and Palmer - who are all back in their Pacific Northwest hometown to plan a fiftieth wedding anniversary party for their parents. The siblings' complicated history and differences quickly rise to the surface, leading to rivalry and tension that threatens to tear their family apart. Luckily, they have some help from Larkin, Ford's long-time assistant; Beau, the local doctor and Palmer's childhood crush; and Nora, the local bakery owner with whom Cooper had a one-night stand years ago. The Chance siblings muddle through their differences and growing romantic entanglements, all leading up to a party they'll never forget.

If an author can write good banter, I'll be hooked - and Meghan Quinn can definitely do that. The book features snappy, authentic dialogue, which really pulls you into the characters and their relationships with each other. I enjoyed the writing style a lot. This meant that I really felt every emotion that the book sought to draw out: I laughed at the banter, I felt embarrassed for the characters at some of their choices, I was moved when the characters finally opened up. And the steamy scenes were certainly steamy.

The book features six POVs, which I thought might be too much at first, but ended up being totally manageable. It was great to be able to understand all six main characters' perspectives, fully appreciating the three core pairings.

That said, there are two specific things that keep this from being a 5-star review for me.

First, I found the Chance siblings' resolution to be unrealistically and unsatisfyingly short. For all their years of hurt and distance, it felt like that got wrapped up and resolved very quickly. I'd have appreciated more time on that portion of the book.

Second, there was a bit too much of a male-saviour vibe for me at times. Ford and Palmer's relationships both had features of the male "saving" the woman. There was a bit of give-and-take on that at times, but some of the instances of this theme rubbed me the wrong way.

All in, this was an excellent read. Highly recommend!

Thank you to NetGalley, Meghan Quinn and Montlake (Amazon) Publishing for the free ARC of The Reunion by Meghan Quinn.

This is my first Meghan Quinn book, and I loved it. It is a story about three siblings who come together to give their parents a 50th anniversary party. Ford, Cooper, and Palmer have come from all over the country to give their beloved parents an anniversary of a lifetime. The twist being none of the siblings like each other very much and a good part of the book is bickering back and forth, especially in email. There are steamy scenes but not overdone. Also, there is a ton of humor which had me laughing out loud in this fun family and romance novel. I can't wait to read more!!

Wow! What a ridiculously fun book - I enjoyed every minute of it! Meghan Quinn is a master of the romcom. She writes amazing, fun, realistic characters and makes me actually laugh out loud (multiple times!).

I loved the sweet romances in this book, but I probably loved the sibling relationship even more! I was really rooting for them to get their acts together - it was clear that they were part of a special family!

Even with 6 different POV, this was an east read that I absolutely flew through. I really didn’t want it to end! The Reunion was funny, sweet, and sexy with the perfect amount of heart and angst!

Thank you to Netgalley and Montlake for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

There were a lot of things going on with this, which isn't a terrible thing. I loved seeing all of the different perspectives, but I wish I could have gotten more from each. I wish this could have been a series, but all the characters were fun, the premise was interesting. A thoroughly enjoyable read!

This is my first book from Meghan and oh boy I love it so much! Meghan's style of writing and humour is right up my alley and I can't wait to read more of her other books. The Wedding Game is next on my TBR

Anyway back to this book, I love the dynamic and relationship between the siblings. It feels very real and reminds me of the siblings' vibe in Bridgerton. Ford, Cooper and Palmer used to be so close but misunderstanding and lack of communication caused a strain in their relationship. Clearly, they love each other very much and I enjoyed reading how they overcome their issue and bond again. At first, I was sceptical about 6 POV but I love all the characters and really glad I get to read from their POV. Although it will be great if we can have 3 books for 3 siblings so we can have more of them 😉I love to read more about GQ Dr Breau and Palmer.
