This is a easy read Fantasy/ Romance.

Unfortunately for me the characters lacked depth and I struggled not having read the first book in the series.

It was pretty hot in places though so this may not be to everyone's taste.

Renegade Angel is the 2nd in the Astral Heat Romance series. I enjoyed the first instalment but this one surpasses it by far! Laura Navarre really makes the intergalactic world and characters come to life. The action, the plot twists, and the steamy action kept me glued to the pages, reminiscent of another favorite of mine, Kiersten Fay's Shadow Quest series - but with the added hotness of M/M and reverse harem aspects. Like the first one, this book also ends in a cliffhanger - I can't wait to read the next one to find out what happens!

The next book picks up right from where the last one left off. The dilemma remains the same, three men who are all burning up for the beautiful Kaia, only one of whom can legitimately claim her in this space contest.  The other two are definitely not stepping back regardless that their role in the auction prevents them from bidding for the princess. The solution is obvious once they figure it out but the thrill is in the getting to the right outcome.

Kaia escapes to Zorin's ship for some space and eventually gives him her much prized virginity that she's been saving. Will the pirate leader be the father of her child who is forecast to lead this brave new world? There's still a contest to be won and enemies to be defeated.

In the meantime Dex and Nero are stoking the fires of their old attraction and planning how to win their girl away from Zorin. But a new player has entered the field. An old enemy who wears a friend's face even while plotting to take down half the civilized world or at least what passes for civilized in these parts.

I loved the fast moving pace of the story, the sexual tension and erotic heat that keeps the adrenaline pumping not to mention action and adventure to thrill a reader.  I can't wait to read the next installment to see how it all comes together.

Renegade Angel
An Astral Heat Romance #2
by Laura Navarre

I received an arc of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second book in the trilogy and reading the first book is imperative. Book 2 is intense and incendiary. We have a 3 male 1 female everyone’s attracted to everyone and more or less cool with sharing situation. We left off with palpable chemistry but no official consummation. By the close of book 2 three of the potential 6 pairings have gotten down to business. One pair many many times. The other pairings have also at least made their way to a better understanding.

This is a sci-fi/space opera polyamorous reverse harem cliff hanger. The action and violence has also be ramped up along with the steam in part two. Trigger warning for an an almost rape of a male. This adventure is full speed ahead until the end which thoroughly supports the reasoning behind the term “cliffhanger” because I feel like I was barreling forward on this plot journey and then it abruptly closed with a to be continued and I’m left hanging by my fingers on this cliff. Can’t wait to see what happens next and how this saga concludes! 5/5 This is hot stuff not for the faint of heart.

This was a good book, read it over the weekend and found the story and its characters very entertaining!

I DNF'd this book about the 60% mark. Part of the reason was because I didn't realize going into it that Renegade Angel was the second in a reverse harem series, and the other part was that I just became fed up with the writing.

There is a lot of potential here, but with zero worldbuilding it feels like the reader is always trying to play catch up. And while the characters should have been interesting, they all seemed over-the-top.

I really wanted to like this, but felt like it didn't work for me from the start.

Thank you to NetGalley and Ascendant Press for allowing me to read this book in exchange for an honest, unbiased opinion.

There's a lot of characters to keep straight with this one, but it's worth it! So many overlapping, interesting storylines, all with a great sci-fi flair. There's adventure, passion, and it'll definitely leave you wanting to read the next in the series!
