Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for the e-arc of this novel.

The Darkest Vampire is categorized as new adult and also urban paranormal fantasy. Everything about vampire will immediately hooked me on the spot. I find it difficult to follow the pace of the story and it actually tires me out when I'm reading this. But I totally love the murder mystery in it, that thing is what keep me going. Maybe I have a different expectation for the book but I think I'm going to say it is an okay read for me. I think because I never read the author previous book, I kind of get lost when reading it which spoils the reading journey for me. But still it is an enjoyable read for me so far.

This was an okay read. There just wasn’t anything that made it stand out from the crowd.

I felt the blurb is a bit incongruent with the actual plot. Killian isn’t as dark a character as he is initially portrayed. There is also alot more going on that muddies the plot.

I also felt less than enamored with our female lead. She comes across as to immature and needy which is not the heroine I was expecting.

I feel if this book had a blurb more suited to it’s plot it would draw more readers. It’s hard to give a high review when you were expecting something a little different

I received an arc of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A delicious slow-burn enemies to lovers novel, The Darkest Vampire is a new adult urban fantasy that’s full of dark romance, adventure, and twists you won’t see coming.

This is the first book in a new series and I think it suffers from the “first book syndrome” tremendously.

The info dumping was intense and very hard to follow, and with how short the book was a lot of questions to the world and characters were raised providing no real resolution.

This usually happens in book 2 of a series, where it’s the filler book to the conclusion, but the fact that it happened in book 1 is making me not want to continue the series. Nothing is really drawing me in at this point.

Wanted to really love it but it missed the mark.

I am always on the lookout for more new (to me) and wonderful paranormal series to read and authors to stalk, I mean, love from afar. My primary book love lies heavily in the paranormal and more specifically the vampire-ish realm and I'm a huge one-click wonder for some pretty cover art, so picking up The Darkest Vampire was a no-brainer.

Lavinia is a half-witch in search of revenge on the people who murdered her parents. To do that she must find a way to unlock her magic. She swore a blood-oath to her mother that sealed her powers and now that her mother is passed, she cannot find anyone alive to undo the irrevocable binding magic. Lavinia is hired to "acquire" a stone that ends up not being a stone and leaves her in the possession of a long-lost half-crazed vampire, Killian, and a huge mystery that goes all the way to the top! (Sorry, I've been watching silly mystery movie/cartoons with my kids)

The Darkest Vampire is the beginning of a new series and I didn't catch onto any serious undercurrents of previous-series-needing-to-be-read-to-understand vibes, which is great. The world is really complex with vampires and witches being at odds and demons and all sorts of paranormal beings. The mystery of the big bad and who and where they came from was fun and suspenseful..

The romancy part of the book being labeled a paranormal romance was pretty much nil so I guess it better falls into the urban fantasy realm. But, the author did a lot of flirting with the will they/won't they, what did that mean, etc. sort of storyline. As such, it's not a surprise that this was a clean romance book, no sorts of any kind of hanky panky were had, but the super slow burn aspect was fun and leads to more authentic and natural progression for future feels if they do happen.

I really enjoyed the book and look forward to reading the next in the series, The Darkest Witch, which I believe was published earlier this month. Yay!

I wanted to like this a lot more than I did. I simply didn't connect with the MC (hate her name, go figure, I'm not sure I've ever had a name bother me before.....) The character development needs work, we went from him hating her to him rescuing her and into a romance. I'll read the next one, but if there's no big improvement, I wont be continuing. Overall......meh.

Well I wish I would have loved this book. I enjoyed the characters for the most part, I felt there were some missing elements but in all the was fun and quick to read. This was my first book from this author so I do plan on reading more.

The book was so amazing. Every page and every word were fascinating.I just got hooked to the book from the beginning. The plot , characters were so good. Love the way the story was moulded. The story become a little oblivious at some point , then it gradually became interesting. Would definitely recommend it.

The Darkest Vampire was a quick read and it was a good one. I liked the story and that ending made me want to read the next book in the series.

I do recommend it.

This is my first book from this author and it won't be my last. I've been in such a reading slump lately and this story pulled me right out of it. Can't wait for the next one!

Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for an eARC of “The Darkest Vampire” in exchange for an honest review.
The Darkest Vampire is first book from Vampire wars series. It’s also first book that I read by Juliana Haygert.
So, where should I start? We got this beautiful cover, interesting name and synopsis. None of this match the story I read. The darkest vampire isn’t darkest at all- he is nice guy actually. Main character, Lavinia, isn’t badass as it may seen. Thats it. I was excited for new dark, twisted and sexy read. It didn't happend. But I still enjoyed it. Story is fast with a lots of action. Definitely gonna read the next book when it come out.

⭐⭐

I feel really awful about giving this book 2 stars, but I just didn't love it. Honestly. I didn't connect with Lavinia. I thougth she was wishy washy, self absorbed, and a bit annoying. I was also expecting more from Killian our brooding vampire, especially since the book is called "The Darkest Vampire". The relationship between Lavinia and Killian seemed to form out of nowhere. There were no defining moments of yes, there is a definite connection between these 2. Killian went from hating her guts to rescuing her? It doesn't make sense.

The writing style was repetitive and immature. There a lot of descriptions of clothing or scenery in unimportant scenes. It just came off as filler. The small amount of romance left a lot to be desired especially I'm description. At one point Killian "crashed" into her, but then the kiss was immediately described as a "butterfly's kiss" in the following sentence.

There was a lot to be desired after reading this book. It is very surface level and short. I won't be continuing the series.

'The Darkest Vampire': 3⭐

(Unpaid Review: thank you to Netgalley, Juliana Haygert and the publishers for allowing me to read this eArc copy in exchange for a review.)

So, urban fantasy with witches, vampires, demons and all variations of supernatural creatures... What more could you possibly want, right?
Mystery and murder involved. A big yes to the calamity this can provoke in a character's storyline! I really enjoyed this read, just felt like something missed!

The Darkest Vampire was great, I really enjoyed the storyline and the main romantic relationship. Although I am VERY sad about a certain event, I am excited to read the next one in the series. Haygert was definitely warming up!

I enjoyed the plot and the characters and how they worked on the mystery surrounding the supernatural world. Plus the enemies to lovers/slow burn was excellent. Killian and Lavinia kept up the intrigue and I enjoyed their interactions. The end kept me super compelled for the next book in the series!

Lavinia is a witch who is trying to get her powers back. They were bound at the onset of her parents death for reasons unknown. Lavinia is convinced there is someone powerful enough in her magic community to help her.

Meanwhile a vampire named Killian appears out of a magical box she was tasked to steal in exchange for information. Between vamps, witches and demons she is finding that getting her powers back may be a little more difficult than anticipated.

This book had a great plot- my only wish is that there was more spice. I would definitely read a second book to see where it leads though. This ARC was provided by Netgalley in exchange for a fair review. I would rate it a 3 out of 5.

I really wanted to love this book just based off the cover, title, and blurb. But I just didn't. This says it is book 1 in the series but apparently it is an offshoot of another series and if you haven't read that one-good luck because there is so much that I just didn't get because of it. Top that off with not being able to get into the actual book and not liking the FMC-this book is a hard no for me. I honestly didn't get the "romance" in this book at all and there was so much information just tossed at you like you were supposed to know that I felt completely lost at times. I am always looking for new author's and PNR is my main love when it comes to reading-so this book was a big disappointment and I won't be reading any more by this author. Definitely wasn't for me.

Enjoyable first book of the series! This was definitely a really slow burn romance but the original plot made up for it. The ending leaves you hooked and can't wait to find out more in the next book!

I was expecting to like this a lot more than I did, but it was all kind of boring. Not to the point where it was a chore to continue, but more like everything felt mediocre and not exciting. Also, when you say a book is an "enemies to lovers" book the main couple should #1 be enemies, and #2 become lovers. These two were never really enemies because they didn't even know each other. And holding hands once or twice and kissing maybe a couple times is hardly considered being lovers.

Lavinia is a witch that has had her witchly powers sealed by blood promise formed by her mother. When her life is in danger she is able to use them okay, but all the rest of the time it's barely a trickle. Her parents were brutally murdered when she was a child and she is determined to avenge their deaths. First step is to get her power unbound. Unfortunately, with each new person she goes to, it just seems more and more hopeless. Until a demon shows up in her apartment with an offer she can't refuse. Even if she knows better than to believe him. The deal is simple. Steal a specific stone for him and he will tell her who killed her parents. Too bad there's more to that stone than either of them know.

Killian is a very powerful vampire that, as it turns out, has been sealed inside that stone for 20 years. Because it's actually a box. A box with truly nefarious purposes. For some reason, when Lavinia touches the box, it releases him and now this half starved, angry vampire is free. Killian hates witches with a passion but decides to work with Lavinia and another in order to get answers.

So basically, the same people that killed Lavinia's parents also killed Killian's brother. They decide to work together to get answers because, seemingly, the same people are still going around killing supernaturals now. Which is what the majority of this book is. These two going around talking to people to try fix Lavinia's power problem and trying to find any clues about the killers. And of course during this time Lavinia is falling for Killian while Killian finds himself conflicted about his attraction to her.

In the end, the bad guys come to them. They're quite talkative for a group of bad guys who go around killing indiscriminately too. One more death gets added to their tally before they get what they deserve. Now Killian and Lavinia need to decide what they will do with this box and if they'll do it together. A decision made easy when more demons show up looking not only to steal the box, but also take Lavinia with them.

Admittedly, that epilogue of a sort does have me interested in the next book. But I don't know....it could be better than this one....but it could also not be. So I'm on the fence about whether or not I even want to check it out.
