I enjoyed this book but it was missing something for me. The romance didn't do a lot and I felt like we didn't get a good enough glimpse into their actual feelings for each other. Also the ending was super weird and I didn't like it.

I received an arc from netgalley.

Leave it to Josie Silver to write yet another romance that is SO SO SO CLOSE to being great. With her previous books, I couldn't always put my finger on what it was that kept me from falling in love with the characters and rooting for them, and this book wasn't exactly anything different on that front. So close, but something was just off.

Oh, Mack and Cleo- you've turned my heart to much!!!!!! One Night on the Island, by Josie Silver is an absolute emotional romcom delight. I loved the banter and the colorful cast of supporting characters and the setting and of course Mack and Cleo and... you get the idea. So, what didn't I like- not a thing. Highly recommend!!!

Cleo is on a journey of self discovery. Mack is escaping his life and trying to learn more about his family history. Being forced together in a cabin in the cold is a recipe for learning to enjoy each other’s company. I loved watching them grow to love themselves and each other. I found Mack’s support of Cleo’ unusual journey beautiful. I loved cleo’s patience with Mack’s family drama and life changes.

Can I just say that Josie Silver has outdone herself again this time? This may be my favorite Silver book so far because of the emotions that has been carved into it and Silver's writing is just impeccable. If you want to laugh, cry, and squeal your heart out, this book is just for you.

One Night on the Island was 5+ star book for me. I highlighted so many parts that resonated for me throughout the book and I know this is one that I will be re-reading. Cleo and Mack (and all of Salvation Island) are such great characters. Cloe is relatable and her quest to be there for herself is inspiring and part of what makes this book more than a great romance (which it absolutely is). Mack is a great guy all around: thoughtful, perceptive and a fantastic Dad. Their story is one of growth and self-acceptance and it was profoundly romantic and touching. I loved all the side characters, down to Susie, Mack's ex. I loved how she was portrayed as a dimensional person, no easy outs making one person the bad one to facilitate the plot resolution. It was a complex story that had me hooked from the beginning, when then genuinely disliked each other, through the emotional middle to a conclusion that did justice to both Cleo's and Mack's inner search. As a fan of One Day in December, I can say that this is a very different book, but the emotional journey was just as satisfying. Highly recommended!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Aghh!!! This was SO GOOD!!! I don't know how Josie Silver manages to suck her readers into every story so completely, but sign me up for every book she ever writes. Loved this one!

I knew Josie was going to wreck me. There’s sisterhood that’s so tender you will cry. I fell in love with the citizens of salvation island.

There’s this unexpected love that catches Cleo and Mack off guard that will catch you off guard too and you’re left wanting so much more.

What stood out to me the most was Cleo and her journey towards loving herself. This is a story about falling in love with yourself more than anything else.

This was a beautiful story. I was left wanting to much more.

Wonderful story, and beautiful writing! Will definitely recommend to friends.

A great story that deals with real life challenges that aren’t always black and white. You’ll laugh and cry then cry some more

Much like One Day in December, One Night on the Island is charming and fun. Cleo and Mack are very fun characters to have to reside in the same cottage at the same time when they're both supposed to be chill and relaxing alone. Salvation Island was a super fun setting and the characters were great!

Another sweet read by Josie Silver! This beautifully written story of Cleo and Mack made me feel so many things. This is a story of two people from different parts of the world who find themselves in the same beautiful island cottage at the same time. Both are living very different lives and both are searching to find themselves beyond the circumstances of their lives. Sweet and romantic, but filled with deep emotional moments, Silver has written another fantastic story. Thank you netgalley for this arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

Oh Josie Silver has a special gift for writing sweet stories that work their way into your heart! I was thrilled to receive an ARC of One Night on the Island and I was not disappointed in this novel. Cleo is a writer, she’s spent her career writing about her quest for love, but she’s turning thirty and really what she wants to do is write a novel. In a bizarre twist, she’s sent to a remote island to write about a marriage “to herself.” Chloe is eager to escape London, her mediocre friends and the mundane predictable life she’s found herself in. What she’s not prepared for is to spend her time away in a very remote single room house with Mack, a grumpy American. Mack has spent his entire life trying to make it to this tiny Irish island to photograph the places and people he grew up hearing about. He’s also escaping from his crumbling marriage and the last thing he wants to do is spend his time with an English woman filled with spite. Set in likely the most beautiful, romantic and serene place, One Night on the Island explores what happens when two total opposite strangers wind up sharing a home and discovering a community that they can’t imagine leaving behind. I enjoyed Chloe and Mack, but I also fell in love with the residents of Salvation Island and found the community to be filled with an amazing cast of characters. One Night on the Island isn’t just about finding love, but also about finding your way on paths that are different than the ones you initially imagined and discovering that sometimes plan B is even better.

A sincere thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Thank you random house publishing group and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! I have just finished the book and am in such a joyful peaceful mood. This story had some "silly" ideas, you will know what I mean when you read it, but the author and main character knew they were silly too and that's part of the charm! A woman who is lost in her London lifestyle that feels empty and without purpose goes to an island to "self couple" meaning to allow herself to be the partner she wants and to make changes and grow. I immediately fell in love with Cleo and all of the inhabitants of the island. The characters were written with so much thought and each had their special place on Cleos journey. Mack was also such a likable vulnerable character and I rooted for both of them. Per usual Josie Silver, I did find myself in tears and also laughing out loud a couple of times. A beautiful endearing and charming love story I will recommend!

Cleo is on the verge of turning thirty. She's a dating columnist but still finds herself single. Her editor suggests she travel to a remote island to "marry herself" as a symbol of turning 30. Cleo likes the idea of leaving London and all the dreaded birthday celebrations. She travels to the Salvation Island and is surprised to find a man at the remote lodge she is supposed to stay at. With no where else to go, Cleo and Mack have to share the small lodge.
Josie Silver makes Salvation Island come to life with her descriptions of the lodge, the ocean, the weather, and landscapes. I could picture myself sitting on the front porch watching the stars and ocean.
Cleo and Mack are both complex characters that I grew to love and root for on their individual self-discovery journey. I also grew to love the other supporting characters in the book.
This book was so much more than I was expecting. A love story and a story of self discovery and acceptance. Complex characters and emotions. Heartwarming, charming book that I couldn't put down. If only Salvation Island was a real place.. I would be tempted to visit!

Man this missed the mark for me. You never know what to expect with traditionally published romances with the cute cartoon covers.. I just could not connect with any of the characters. None of them were likeable.

WOW!! It was one of the most easiest 5 stars read for me.. I cried, I smiled like a fool, I screamed and cheered for the characters and I was excited and hooked from the very beginning, and that’s exactly is a Josie silver’s books for me. I loved her characters, the world she’s woven, and the fact that not only, did I fall in love with Cleo & Mack and their love story but also with the Island and Islanders. Their banter, wit, the angst and, the level understanding these two have for is something that’s so easy to envy about. I devoured this book. the romance sweeped me off of my feet. I loved it.

I love Josie Silver's book other books, One Day in December and The Two Lives of Lydia Bird, so I was psyched to get my hands on this book early! No one writes a com-rom book like Josie Silver! The book starts out when writer Cleo takes a trip to remote island just before her 30th birthday. Photographer Mack takes the same trip and both are on deeply personal journeys. A mistake is made at the island's resort and they are both forced to share a cabin and the story evolves from there. I enjoyed this cute, sweet book but my favorite Josie Silver character will always be Lydia Bird!

Thanks to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine, Ballantine Books for an advanced reader copy of this book, cannot wait to tell my friends about this story in March of 2022 when it is published.

This is my first Josie Silver book I’ve read and it won’t be my last. I can’t say enough how much I loved this book! I was a little skeptical about the whole “marrying oneself” premise but I got hooked on Cleo and how her trip became so much more than her online column. Mack just made the story deeper. You will want to find a Salivation Island to visit as do I. This story is sweet, heartfelt (yes I cried while reading it) and you will fall in love with these characters and think about them long after you finish the book. Thank you Netgalley for this wonderful ARC

Wow, just WOW!! Josie Silver does it again with One Night on the Island.

Reader beware, Kleenex is needed because you will undoubtedly cry, but you will also find yourself laughing out loud at this captivating story Josie Silver delivers.

Cleo is a dating expert columnist who’s boss sends her to a remote Irish island to “Marry” herself for an upcoming article. Mack is an American escaping his estranged wife and two boys to regroup and discover his family history on the island. The two end up renting the same house at the same time, and ironically there are no open rooms on the entire island.

What could have been a very cliched story actually turns into a beautiful story of two flawed individuals who are driven to make the most of their time on the island - in the same cabin. Cleo and Mack’s story will tear at your heart and hopefully leave you rooting for them to figure it all out!

Oh, and add in an ensemble cast that is funny as heck and you have yourselves one of the best of the year!!

Most definitely in my Top 5!!

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
