4 stars! Stay Awake was a "keep you on the edge of your seat" page-turner. I recommend this wild ride of a thriller.
Thank you to Megan Goldin, St. Martin's Press, and NetGalley for the Arc in exchange for an honest review.

Easily my favorite Megan Goldin book so far! Every time Liv falls asleep she loses her memory of the last two years. Two years prior she was almost murdered and that person might still be out to finish the job. The only problem is Liv doesn’t know this and doesn’t realize she is still in danger. To make matters worse, she is also being hunted by the police as the number one suspect for a recent murder. She can’t trust anyone and has only notes on her arms and hands to try to piece her life together.

This book was pieced together so perfectly. I wanted to devour it in one sitting. The elements of suspense and surprise twist will keep you on the edge of your seat. If you are a fan of Christopher Nolan’s Memento (I also highly recommend this movie), then you will love this book! It’s a smart and suspenseful thriller that will keep you guessing until the end. I love when I can’t guess the villain or twist in thrillers.

Add this one to your list, find a copy and enjoy.

I tried to read this one but I couldn’t get into it. I stopped after a few chapters because I felt it was predictable. I usually love this author’s work so I disappointed that it was a miss for me. I didn’t post anywhere since I didn’t finish and I didn’t want the book’s rating to go down.

Thank you to @stmartinspress @macmillan.audio I absolutely LOVED this one. This was so close to being a 5, but there was one thing I was hoping for at the end that didn’t come through. Other than that this was awesome! I love @megangoldinauthor books and this was no exception.

I did this one on audio and for the most part I enjoyed. But one audio narrator spoke a lot slower then the other one. So I had to constantly adjust my audio speed as the narrators flipped back and forth throughout the book. But other then that no issues. Very easy to follow the story and they both kept me in the story.

If you are a fan of @megangoldinauthor which I think you should be if you aren’t already, def pick this one!

"Liv Reese wakes up in the back of a taxi with no idea where she is or how she got there. When she’s dropped off at the door of her brownstone, a stranger answers―a stranger who now lives in her apartment and forces her out in the cold. She reaches for her phone to call for help, only to discover it’s missing, and in its place is a bloodstained knife. That’s when she sees that her hands are covered in black pen, scribbled messages like graffiti on her skin: STAY AWAKE." -Goodreads ☕☕☕

This book is basically high stakes 50 First Dates. Fun concept, but the execution was long-winded and repetitive. ⭐⭐

I thought this was a well done amnesia thriller. I sometimes get bored with the redundancy of a main characters lack of memory and confusion regarding what is occurring in the story. I didn't feel that way with this book. I appreciated the flash backs to the past drawing us a picture of how things came to be. It helped keep the pace of the book moving. I had a hard time putting it down and couldn't wait to see how it would end. I also really liked the two detectives and would like to see them in future books.

Stay Awake was full of non-stop twists from the first page to the very last. Featuring an unreliable narrator, it was gripping and imaginative. If you’re looking for a breakneck thriller that will have you holding your breath, I highly recommend this one.

This was a great thriller that kept me guessing the entire time. The concept was unique and I couldn’t put it down. The police and detective backstories were a little unnecessary but I otherwise loved this!

Stay Awake
by Megan Goldin
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Imagine you wake up in the back of taxi and don’t remember how you got there. Imagine arriving at your apartment and someone else claims to live there. Imagine looking for your phone and finding a bloodstained knife in your purse instead and having no idea what happened. And to make it even more complicated on her arms there’s a graffiti message saying: STAY AWAKE. That’s what happened to Liv Reese.

Liv Reese two years before, Liv was a successeful writer for a trendy magazine. She had a boyfriend, a cat, a roommate. Today, Liv is in NYC completely lost. Looking for answers, she goes to her work building. There are new people there that she doesn’t recognize. The people that remembers her are treating her differently, like she could break at any moment. She checks the date and finds out that she’s missing two years of her life.

Liv has a memory disorder and she forgets everything that happened during the day when she sleeps but she can remember her life until two years ago. Now she sees someone in the news that looks like her, and they’re saying that she is a killer. Now Liv had to try to find someone that she knows to see what’s going on. She can’t trust anyone. She forgets everything when she sleeps. Even though some things repeat, the author handle it very well and it did feel repetitive.

I enjoyed this book very much! Hope to see more about the detective. I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review

What a wild ride. I love the premise of this book. Imagine waking up and not remembering the last two years of your life. Then add on finding a bloody knife in your pocket and the same words written on your arm that were written on the window at a murder scene. And everytime you fall asleep, you forget everything that happened once again. That’s what’s happening to Liv and we follow along as she struggles to figure out what happened in those last two years.

There are so many twists and turns and the multiple timelines work really well in this story. Goldin shows she is a versatile writer with many tricks up her sleeve. I wasn’t expecting the ending, but it didn’t really shock or surprise me. But either way, it was an entertaining read.

I still am looking forward to checking out future works by Megan Goldin. Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press, and Megan Goldin for an e-arc of Stay Awake in exchange for an honest review.

Fantastic thriller book! I loved how the main character was untrustworthy! It made the story that much better!! Kept turning the page till it was done! Amazing!

This addictive, page-turning thriller was a super enjoyable read for me. I always enjoy books where you don't know what the heck is going on and things are slowly pieced together piece by piece, so this was definitely right up my alley. I liked how as readers we were just as confused as Liv was and learned pieces of information alongside her.

I also enjoyed the addition of finding out things from the detectives' point of view and thought that Halliday was a great side character. I think she could make a good recurring character, and I wouldn't mind reading about her investigating another crime in another book.

What keeps this from being a 5-star read for me though is that I thought that murderer was super obvious, and I figured things out very early on. Still though, a really great thriller and probably one of my faves of the year.

Liv Reese wakes up in a cab, arms covered in writing and a bloody knife in her pocket. She's clearly been involved in something dangerous and likely criminal, but the problem is she can't remember what it was.

This was like 50 First Dates, but make it a thriller. Super atmospheric and creepy, with a healthy dose of paranoia. I had trouble connecting to Liv because, despite her amnesia, she made some really dumb choices and she was hard to understand. I solved the "whodunnit" fairly early on here, but it was worth it to stick around and find out the logistics and the why of the whole thing.

When Liv Reese wakes up in the back of a taxi she has no idea where she is or how she got there. Another couple is living in what should be her apartment, none of her friends are answering their phones, there is a bloody knife in her pocket, and writing all over her hands with the message...stay awake. Liv soon discovers the police are searching for her as she is the prime suspect in a murder investigation. Uncertain where to turn or who to trust she tries to piece together her missing memories but someone doesn't want her to remember and he's coming for her.

This book was suspenseful and kept me on the edge of my seat. The plot got a tad bit confusing rehashing the empty spaces between each sleep.

Overall, I enjoyed this thriller and would recommend it!

Liv finds herself in the middle of a homicide investigation. The problem? She cannot remember anything after she wakes up. I really enjoyed this twisty thriller! It kept me guessing until (almost) the very end.
The only reason I am not giving this 5 stars: I did not ever truly connect with Liv. I found her to be frustrating and honestly… a little dumb. She makes so many decisions that had my eyes rolling. I also did find the ending a tad predictable about 3/4 of the way through.
Overall: 4 stars for another thriller from an author that I love!

This is one of the most exciting books I've read in a while! The story line drew me in and held my attention until the end. I could see a few things coming before they happened, but it didn't take away from the story. I would highly recommend it to friends.

Megan Goldin's Stay Awake has such a unique plot in my opinion. Goldin has a number of novel at this point, but I think I like this one the best so far. Stay Awake follows two main characters, Liv Reese, a woman who finds herself completely lost and helpless as she suffers from a unique amnesia which makes her lose her memories every time she falls asleep. Having to rely on a heavy dose of caffeine and writing messages on her body; she is essentially running for her life.

The other character is Det. Halliday who has been tasked with solving the gruesome murder of an unknown victim where the only real clue is the phrase "stay awake" written on the window. As the two women intersect, and more of Liv's back story is revealed the reader can't help but get pulled into all of the drama and intrigue.

This one has the BEST premise: a woman loses her memory every time she falls asleep. When she’s traced back to the scene of a murder, she can’t remember anything, and goes on the run. The issue with this one is that the premise let to a lot of repetition that just wasn’t my fave to read. Once I got past that, I enjoyed it and thought it was clever and a nice change from a typical thriller!
