This book was a miss for me. It read as though it was trying to be a contemporary version of 'Oh the Places You'll Go.' The illustrations are beautiful, but I struggled to see where this piece of work would fit in a library.

A colourful tale with an inspiring message about being yourself and taking the path less trodden when the time comes. Inspired a good discussion about individuality and being confident in your decisions.

'The Path' with story and art by Bob Staake is a picture book with encouraging advice on life's journey.

Life's journey has it's ups and downs, and while it may seem similar to others, it it all ours to discover. That is told here by New Yorker cover artist is lush illustrations and prose. As a bonus, the book jacket includes a poster of The Path.

I received a review copy from Astra Publishing House and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Beautiful illustrations, but the concept is very vague and I don't think the book conveyed it in a child friendly way.

The basic premise of this book, that life is a path we're each on and some parts will be nice and enjoyable and some parts will be dreary and some bits will be difficult and unpleasant, isn't a new concept and has been expressed many times before, in many variations, and there's nothing wrong with that; it's a concept that's worth repeating. What makes this version of that idea special is Staake's artwork, which is just so lovely and evocative! That the simple but poignant way the metaphor is depicted so perfectly fits the illustrations is just icing on the cake. This will be a classic, I think, and is a perfect gift for anyone, including me - my birthday's in July, y'all, just sayin'....

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. The path is about the path a child might take as they grow up.

I'm a huge Bob Staake fan. His big, bold style usually trends toward the silly side, but he goes on a philosophical bent in this beautiful tale of the path through life. It's a kind of "Oh, the Places You'll Go!" with absolutely stunning artwork.

A treasure for all ages!

Lovely illustrations and story. A great book for inspirations and even for graduates. Will be buying for our library and recommending as gifts.

The path is about the path you take in life. It will not always be a smooth easy walk on the beach, sometimes it’ll be climbing over rocks and crossing rivers. At some point the path will diverge and you will have to choose a side. No matter what you choose it will be right because you make your own path. I absolutely love the artwork in this book. it is the best thing about it. I really enjoyed the story however it feels like it ends about five pages too soon.

I enjoyed this book and the messages it gives to the reader. The illustrations are simple yet vibrant and beautiful. The words and illustrations work wonderfully together and complement one another perfectly. While I read the story, I realized that this book could stand alone with just the illustrations which tell the story all on their own. Children read books initially through the pictures which makes books like this imperative to early readers who cannot quite grasp all of the words yet.

"The Path" by Staake is a nice end-of-the-year read for younger students. I liked that the story ends with the acknowledgement that there are more than two acceptable paths/ways.

The Path by Bob Staake features outstanding illustrations and a heartfelt, encouraging story regarding the life after graduation. In less than 32 pages, he has penned down words of hope and reassurance that will provide courage in face of challenges. Graduation brings a lot of fear and anxiety. From this point onwards, young souls are on their own to forge their own path. Throughout this journey, there will be ups and downs and unpredictable turns of events. There will also be endless possibilities, not just the obvious ones but the ones that are unseen and unknown waiting for the special person to unlock them. Quite a common topic made unique and beautiful by fantastic artwork and metaphors. Loved it.

* Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

The Path is brightly illustrated and puts a profound idea quite simply. This picture book send the message that all of life’s path are different, are necessary, but we are able to blaze our own paths.

It’s a perfect bedtime story read, classroom title or gift for someone at a crossroads.

This beautiful and uplifting book will put a smile on your face. Not only does it encourage you to keep going despite challenges and obstacles in life, I also love how it acknowledges that everyone's journey is different and no two paths are the same. The imagery and illustrations are gorgeous too.

I love books that take me on a journey, and this one did exactly that. A wonderful read that celebrates life and its endless possibilities!

Bravo, my daughter who is about to turn six loves this book. We have been reading about once a day now for two weeks. She loves the illustrations, and the overall beauty of this story. It has lead to some great discussions at dinner time also.

This book is written more for little ones, but it was really sweet! It actually gave me a bit of ‘Oh The Places You’ll Go’ vibe. I loved how the map feature matches the layout of the book.
The only reason I won’t be getting a copy for my classroom is because I teach older kids. But I will keep this book in mind when I have little ones or my own.

A good allusion to the path of life with beautiful illustrations. Not sure why the boy has different pigmentations throughout the story but it didn't necessarily take away from the concept.

This is a lovely book. The character starts out on a journey in which he finds beauty, danger, and obstacles, as well as easy to navigate paths. I enjoyed the illustrations, and felt that they added to the tone of each page and the author's message. This is definitely a book that I will purchase.
