Doing His Best to Confess is a cute romance about Natsuaki, a popular, shy boy (who's also a little dense), who has a crush on Nashida, his kind and free-spirited classmate. Both Natsuaki and Nashida open up more as the volume progresses, but I wish there were more interactions with other side characters to better establish their personalities and motivations.

I would recommend this to teens who are looking for a quick and fun romance read.

This was such a fun manga and Natsuaki was such a precious potato 😍 His crush on Nashida was so wholesome and cute and I really hope their relationship ends well. There's a cliffhanger on the end that gives you hope, so I want to continue the series to see what happens! It's so lighthearted and fun!

So this one lost me at "she looks so cute when she has seaweed stuck in her teeth."

The ML is endearing enough, if a bit deluded, but the FL has all the appeal of a naughty 10 year old boy. Both physically and behaviorally.

Sadly I probably won't continue this one.

This manga was cute enough, maybe a little kitschy but def cute. From the smitten protagonist, to the oblivious love interest, I found myself chuckling at certain moments and scenes. I think the art throughout was really well done and pleasing but I don't think I will continue on with the series. It felt just a little too juvenile for my tastes. If you are looking for a lightheartedly fluffy manga, I recommend this to you.

Simple and sweet. This romance manga tells a story of a cool quiet guy in high school in love with an awkward tomboyish girl (who is oblivious to his crush). Easily relatable and is sure to put a smile on your face, but nothing too ground-breaking to come from romance manga in general. As you can expect, most of the manga focuses on the main character trying to confess to his love interest and failing. The comedy is fine, but pretty obvious. After a while, I can assume it'll get frustrating if he keeps confessing unsuccessfully.

This manga is cute. The theme was cute. The main character, you guessed it, was cute.
"Is cute" is a phrase the main character Natsuaki says to just about anything and everything in reference to his love interest, Nashida.

This story is a pretty easy read, light and fluffy. Volume 1 did not seem to have much content, but I would like to see where it goes.

I do personally enjoy tropes of characters appearing one way, while their personality being different under the face value.

Throwing my flowers confetti to the two most precious and cutest main leads ever. When you put two cute people in one room, you get uwu all the way. Thats what I feel throughout my reading. Why the heck these two people are so cute for no reason😩😩😩

Oh wait, Natsuaki did have a reason because he is so head over heels for his classmate, Nashida. I mean who could resist the shy, soft spoken and adorable Nashida, even I cannot help but fall in love with her 🥺🥺.

Its interesting to see from the guy's perspective in a shojo manga because its fun to see how Natsuaki is trying to understand his feelings and how he tries to talk to the girl he likes. He always had this blank look on his face and ughhh he is so cute.

I'm rooting for the two of them from afar. Watch me holding my banner as I wait for them to declare their loves ❤

Summary: Natsuaki-kun is one of the friendliest, smartest and admirable boys in school, the only problem is that he is not very expressive. And since he has liked Nashida, it has been more difficult for him to express his feelings. Will he be able to confess?

My main drawback is that he repeats "cute" a lot to refer to anything Nashida does; at first it can be funny and cute, but as the story progresses it starts to get in the way.
I liked that sometimes they played with the intensity of Natsuaki-kun, that he got excited about simple things, but I also feel that it was quite early when he started to have feelings for her. It also made me laugh several times when they played with his inexpressiveness, and when the best friend intervened.
Why do they always cut the stories just when there is a confession ?! LOL

Doing His Best to Confess or in Japanese Romaji, Natsuaki-kun wa Kyou mo Kokuhaku shitai (夏秋くんは今日も告白したい) is off to a great start and I enjoyed this from start to finish!

Natsuaki our ML is this slender and good looking guy but he's quite unique as he tends to stare to space and projects random thoughts. He is not that aware of the giggles of the girls passing by who gawks at him.

Came our FL, Nashida, who has short black hair. And I love having short hairs for FLs in shojo manga but she's a little bit dense. ALthough I can not blame her as who would think the aloof Natsuaki would have a crush on you.

I love this from the get go and the two are just so cute and sweet. A must read for shojo manga readers who're into good male leads and having male POV.

This manga was beyond adorable! I love seeing shoujo from a male perspective, and this was one of the cutest I've read. Natsuaki is aloof and popular with the ladies in his school... all of them except Nashida, the oddball girl he has a crush on. Every time he tries to confess, his efforts are foiled, which leads to a hilarious sequence of events. However, it did get a little repetitive, so I hope volume 2 has more variety given the cliffhanger!

This book would be perfect for any younger readers looking for something sweet and wholesome.

3.5 rounded up. This is a totally adorable, silly little confection of a manga. The title says it all - our lead really wants to confess to his crush, but he somehow can't ever seem to make it work. In part that's because everyone in this story is astoundingly obtuse; absolutely no one pays any real attention to what anyone else is doing or thinking. That makes this work better than it ought to, because everyone is just so <i>earnest</i>, even if they're working at cross-purposes without ever being aware of it.

The first volume is a cute introduction to the main character. It proceeded pretty fast so I'm curious on the upcoming complications, love triangles, and the character development.

This graphic novel, translated from the original Japanese, is a story about a teenage boy who, in the manner of all teenagers, is completely preoccupied and full of anxiety about how to tell the girl he has a crush on that he likes her. It takes you right back to those teenage years when you over-analyzed every word, glance, and moment to try to interpret and read the actions of someone whose thoughts you desperately want to know without having to ask because you were certain you were the only one unable to read the situation and that everyone else knew something you didn’t. The illustrations were beautifully done and at times rendered the characters as suave, trendy, and beautiful teenage heartthrobs, and then would revert to showing them as the rounded little children they often still felt themselves to be.

This manga is for those who like their romance on the sweeter side of things. It's just cute! The art is nice, the characters are fun, and our main boy is DOING HIS BEST! It's nice to see a character so fluttery about everything his crush does. Like yes, she really is this sweet and amazing! Thank you! I found it to be a nice, fluffy, mood lightener.

Natsuaki is a shy boy who is hard for people to read. This makes people assume that he is mysterious, cool and deep thinking…which isn’t necessarily the case. Natsuaki has a crush on Nashida ever since he crushed her rice ball saving it from falling on the floor. He even looks up how to do a love confession on the internet. Lol He manages to tell her he’s in love (not with her, mind you), and she assumes she means with his new seat in the classroom as they just had a seating change. This pretty much sums up how things are going to go for him.

Nashida is kind of an odd ball, who couldn’t take a clue that Natsuaki likes her, even if it were to slap her upside the head. Natsuaki does his best to stick up for her, find ways to be close to her, all in hopes she’ll figure out that he likes her. He stares at her, she thinks he’s super interested in the schedule over her head… yep. These two just keep missing the connection. Chapter after chapter. Situation after situation.

I have only two negative things to say. One, the word “cute” is used A LOT. If the repetitive use of a word gets to you, be aware of this one. Two, the overall plotline is slow. Nothing is really achieved in book one. It’s just a series of shenanigans. It’s amusing, for sure, but not laugh out loud funny.

Conclusion

This series has potential. The art is well done, even beautiful in places. The comedy is a bit more relaxed than in some other rom-coms, but still there. Natsuaki is ‘cute’ in his blundering pursuit of his love interest. It is a little slow to get going and I imagine it’ll take a few volumes before Nashida is made aware of Natsuaki’s clumsy advices.

Doing His Best to Confess has endearing concept, admittedly I got a bit bored halfway through. I think the repetition of the misunderstandings and Natsuaki-kun constant “she’s so cute” narration didn’t progress the story much. I think I would have cut two chapters out of this as they didn’t do anything for the plot. The book ends of a cliff-hanger, although I’m not convinced the author will not backtrack (as done in one of the previous chapters). So I do want to read the second volume to see how this progresses but I’m not sold on this yet.

Doing His Best to Confess, Volume 1 by Satoru was a pure and wholesome shoujo manga volume about a high school boy trying hard to confess to the girl he likes...that's pretty much it. It was really cute and sweet, but nothing too original or stand out-ish about it, a solid shoujo.

Natsuaki is handsome and popular with the girls of his school. However, since the beginning of high school, he fell in love with his classmate Nashida, but his clumsiness and shyness makes it hard for him to confess his feelings to her and even when he manages to do it, there are some misunderstandings.

It’s a shojo manga that is, for once, from the point of view of the guy, which doesn’t happen often (I don’t think I can name another shojo manga written from the point of view of a guy, actually). It was original and interesting to read about. Not only that, but it was funny and had a lot of comic situations, but besides that, there was nothing memorable about the manga. So, I don’t think I will pick up the rest of the series.

I liked this. It was a nice easy read manga. Basically a guy is super shy and likes a girl but does not know how to tell her. It's cute. The guy goes through all the ways he can say he likes her and they all go completely wrong.

If you are in to slice of life manga and romance manga, this is definitely one you should check out. It will give you all the feels!
