Out of the Blue by Alison Bliss

I will always appreciate a plus-sized heroine, but I feel like a lot of this book was done so so badly. Disordered eating, crash diets, unhealthy amounts of exercise... it just left a bad taste in my mouth. I mean, gaining 20 pounds in a month due to depression is brushed under the rug and not actually tackled as being unhealthy. The author could have used this moment as a way to promote taking care of one's mental health. Instead, it's just considered a silly oops moment and the story moves on. The book says you need to lose weight to be happy with yourself, but there's really this underlying (and very obvious) message that you need to lose weight to fall in love, and that's wrong. And the ending had me annoyed I wasted any time at all reading this. There was nothing original here at all, and I came away feeling crummy about myself. Would not recommend to anyone.

Bliss’s final book in the Perfect Fit series is a fun read. I enjoyed the plus size representation. Adam was not my favorite hero, but he shows up for Preslee at the end.
3.5 stars

I fell in love with Alison Bliss's plus sized heroines years ago and eagerly awaited this title from her. I didn't love the characters and didn't feel like the plus size rep was as good as her last books.

this is exactly why I love forever pub. this was everything I wanted and more. I couldn't put it down and I still think about it all the time. this is a 10/10.

I am a member of the American Library Association Reading List Award Committee. This title was suggested for the 2023 list. It was not nominated for the award. I really wanted to love this book. Like, really wanted to. I feel like there just aren't enough books with a plus sized main character. However, the book was so focused on Preslee's weight. Just because you're plus sized doesn't mean you're fat. At the end of the day, it came down to lose the weight, get the guy.

I also really hated the fact that they were betting on her weight loss and commitment to the gym. It felt like a bad rewrite of She's All That.

This is a great book with wonderful character and world building. I really enjoyed her journey since I also hate going to the gym but need to.

I wanted to like it. Plus sized representation! Loved that. But it was an IMMEDIATE dnf...we're immediately greeted with a plus sized woman who wants to lose weight, apparently burns lasagna by adding too much cheese, and is clumsy...just not my cup of tea as an plus sized Italian woman who can cook. An immediate no. I'm sorry.

This is a very easy read with lovable and very relatable characters. I enjoyed both Preslee and Adam and thought they were very well suited.

Preslee’s body image/weight insecurities dominate the storyline but it’s covered in a sympathetic way. There’s a lot of internal dialogue from her character which I found a little repetitive at times but in reality those issues are a constant worry so I think it’s fairly true to life. Adam is a confident guy with a few of his own insecurities thrown in.

They match well and have very fun banter with plenty of sparky chemistry. They’re definitely the sort of people you want to be friends with. It’s a really enjoyable read and I definitely recommend it.

Preslee has just gotten bad news from the doctor's office. Prediabetic. She decides that she's going to do something about it. She walks into the local gym and tries to work out. While doing a live vlog on her family's antique store on the stair machine. She accidentally hits the wrong button and speeds up the machine. Luckily Adam the personal trainer comes to the rescue. Her video goes viral and they come up with a plan to help both of them out.

This was a fun light hearted romance. Preslee wasn't my favorite character. But I did enjoy her commitment to getting healthy. Adam is a good guy.

I loved this book... An issue that effects a lot of women of having body issues and the insecure way the feel about themselves... As a curvy woman myself I could relate...

I have read the previous books in this series & thought they were fun and witty. But this one just feel kind of short for me. The chemistry between our main characters was ok. Presley is our plus sized heroine who’s clumsy and starts a gym to get healthy after a doctors visit. She has super low sled esteem, which starts to bug me as it’s just a constant downer the entire book. Adam is our gym owning hero who is super sweet and doesn’t stand for bullies. These two end up training together while Adam had a side bet. He’s really supportive. While this book also had steam, I wasn’t a fan of how their sexy times started out when they really should’ve talked more about body images and where they stand! However this book may work for other and could’ve just been me.

I was very excited for this book. A plus-size main character who has an exciting love interest and her own story? Yes, please!

That said, I was a little disappointed. The fact that Preslee crash diets was really disappointing and seemed so out of character for how she had been up to that point. As someone who has struggled with my weight and trying to accept it I know we all have moments of doubt and weakness, but I think this could have been shown in a different, less-harmful way.

Adam was fun and a unique perspective for a love interest but his complete lack of understanding and confusion about why Preslee was uncomfortable with being in a gym at her weight was rather annoying. As someone who had clearly spent lots of time in a gym and around others working out it shows he never really understood the plight of someone different than him. It was great to see him learn and understand though!

Overall this book was fun and enjoyable and was able to overcome the few instances that I didn't enjoy.

Out of the Blue by Alison Bliss is book four in her A Perfect Fit series. It's a cute romantic comedy with a great heroine in Preslee Owens. I enjoyed the story.

Preslee is a heroine for all of us. She got bad news from the doctor, put in the work to change her course, and in the process, found out what (and who) is truly important

I found this one difficult to relate with due to the insta infatuation conversation that was had with the two MC’s… especially in the gym setting. I get you can find people attractive but there is also a point where it was just too much for me and it didn’t feel like the character development was where it needed to be. It may be just me, but I don’t like the insta love type storylines especially when tied to someone in a fragile state after getting scary medical news and trying to make a life change.

I really am yes to love this one, but found it to just be okay. It was predictable and so familiar. The writing was okay and I liked the characters fine, but nothing about it was great for me. Beautiful cover!

I approached this book super excited to read it because the MC was a plus size 28 year old, just like myself, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint!

Another romance that makes me want to read more romance books! The storyline was great, I was so intrigued that I finished this book in less than 12 hours 🤣 I love when I can relate to a character and every thought that entered Preslee’s mind was something I have thought before multiple times in my life. This story was a great reminder that appearances are not what one should solely base a relationship on, nor should we judge anyone based on that. Thanks to the author for a great story with a strong main character that I absolutely loved!

Thanks to @readforeverpub && @netgalley for this amazing ARC!

I love to see more books normalizing different body sizes. I’m always excited to read books with normal people who have been through hard things. This book was funny, and a great read.
