It is a sweet book. Danni needs a break from work. She travels to Alaska to spend Christmas with her best friend. This city girl fits right in with the small town residents. I loved the friendships that Danni makes with the residents. Danni’s relationships with her best friend and her family reminded me of my own.

This book made me laugh and cry.

I enjoyed the story and the narrator.

** spoiler alert ** This book is a Hallmark Christmas movie just waiting to be filmed! The story is about Dani who is a vlogger living in New York, in a career that she thinks she's always wanted and in a relationship she thinks she should want too. Her best friend Amy lives in Alaska and calls her up and invites Dani to come stay with her family for a few weeks before Christmas and before Amy gives birth to her second child. After a visit with her family and an overwhelming conversation with her boyfriend, Dani decides to go for the visit. It's the trip that will change her life. She meets Deacon, an injured ex-solider turned Trooper and after a few weeks, Dani is faced with new decisions to make that will change her course and life forever.

I loved every character in this book, even the overbearing boyfriend. I can see this book being made into a beloved Christmas movie. It has everything. Small quaint town draped in winter's snow and glow, an endearing cast of support characters and two main love interests that you root for all the way.

I highly recommend adding Mistletoe in Juneau to your reading list for the holidays or even when you just want to be reminded of the holiday spirit.

Mistletoe in Juneau is a lovely holiday offering by author Dahlia Rose. Danni St. Peters has made a name for herself in the world of influencers with her Danni on the Run blog. Her self appointed manager Austin Hammond has helped further her presence, has even tried to make himself her boyfriend, but he isn’t listening to what Danni says and she has had it.

When Danni’s best friend Amy begs her to come spend Christmas with her and her young family just outside of Juneau, Danni surprises them both and says yes, planning to spend the month of December with them. With many plane changes, Danni finally arrives at the small airport in Juneau on the double prop plane piloted by local pilot Cooper. Expecting Amy to pick her up at the airport, Danni is surprised by the handsome trooper who is there in Amy’s stead.

This is a healing trip for Danni, who is seeking direction in her life. She feels a disappointment to her very conservative family. She is no longer as excited about her blog as she was in the early days when she first began on a shoestring budget she had scrimped and saved for that first Paris trip. Now, in Auke Bay, she is feeling acceptance and clarity. And then there is the quiet, handsome, veteran who is now the sergeant trooper for the small town.

This is a lovely holiday story with the perfect setting! With real reindeer and pretend Santas, and the wit and warmth of the people of this out of the way town, Danni is on the cusp of finding her new direction. Mistletoe in Juneau is such a fun holiday read. I very much enjoyed it and I do recommend it!

A cute typical Hallmark story. I only have it 3 stars because I wanted a little more drama. I was expecting the boyfriend/manager to follow her and cause more conflict. Everyone was so nice and I like a grumpy person or two thrown in.

Narrator did a good job.

Your typical Hallmark story! ❤️

The novel was super cute and very christmassy. Declan and Dannie were lovable characters — Declan having an icy shell and Dannie being the bubbling sun that melted him. Very fitting for an Alaskan story!

My only critique would be the ending. It seemed to drag a little, and I hate that Declan didn’t give Dannie a chance to explain herself before running off after seeing her and Austin. But I do see where it fit his character.

The narration was wonderful! I enjoyed her voice and they way she would change it for different characters.

If you love Hallmark movies, this read is for you! Such a sweet, clean romance.

I adored Mistletoe in Juneau. From the start, Danni’s frenetic lifestyle creates the perfect reason for an escape. Fortunately, her best friend Amy invites her to spend some time off in Alaska. I fell in love with her adventure from the moment she saw the travel means her friends sent to take her into Alaska. Danni is warm, friendly, and provides a lot of comical commentary on her thought processes along the way. Declan is settled into a routine as a State Trooper. He is quiet and exudes strength and loyalty. He does not let his amputee keep him from anything and he maintains his safety boundaries he needs to manage his PTSD (and his broken heart). Then Danni just slips in right past all his boundaries and shows him the power of love and living to the fullest again. They have a friendship that grows into more, although they both must figure out what it is they really want and what risks they are willing to take to get there. I love all the Christmas warmth infused throughout the entire story. Supporting characters are sweet, wise, and endearing (and George…OMG, LOL). I love the cultural and heritage explanations. The scenery is breathtaking and vivid; I had no trouble seeing in my mind’s eye what was being described.
I had the added bonus of listening to Janina Edwards bring the story to life through her wonderful narration. Characters were well represented and distinct, both male and female.
I highly recommend this sweet tale set in Alaska. It is true Christmas joy in traditional Hallmark fashion

I think I suffered from flashbacks as I listened to this book. You see, although I now live in Alaska myself, I felt myself reliving the experience of "first time Alaska" with main character Danni. Just like Danni, I brushed aside an instinctive trepidation at boarding my first small plane for a flight over Alaska. As with Danni, that trepidation was soon replaced by a captivated sense of wonder. How could such beauty, such unspoiled beauty exist. The mountains, so massive and almost overwhelming from the land seemed small from the plane, even Denali as we flew past. I also laughed as I recalled all too well the gasp Danni gave when she stepped from the plane and took a deep breathe. The cold air instantly makes your lungs hurt, eyes water, and a sort of brain freeze sets in. There are whale viewings, caribou, and Northern Lights viewing scattered throughout the book, all making for the ideal, almost overwhelming Alaskan experience for city girl Danni. Having visited Juneau myself, albeit in the summer, I felt like I knew the place.

The wonders of Alaska aside, "Mistletoe in Juneau" pretty much checks of the classic Hallmark features. Let's face it, you either love Hallmark's holiday stories or avoid them. I tend to fall somewhat into the last category, hence my surprise at how much I enjoyed "Mistletoe in Juneau" as a holiday read or, in this case, listen since I had the audio version. Kudos to the narrator, by the way. She was excellent, making me almost sure at times there were more than one narrator reading the story. She differentiated each character beautifully, from Danni's more sophisticated New York rhythm to the usually spontaneous utterances of young Peter. I would definitely listen to anything else she narrates.

The romance is typical Hallmark, of course. Two people from different places with different lifestyles meet and, I don't think I'm spoiling anything given the Hallmark mode, after initial friction, fall in love. That said, the road to romance isn't smooth in real life and definitely isn't here. Danni is talkative, ambitious, and her life centers around big city life and opportunities. Love interest Declan is, well, the bruised soul. A wounded vet with PTSD who has sworn off romance after being dumped after his girlfriend discovered he hadn't just been wounded in battle but lost part of a leg. That and his own doubts about worthiness make him wary of letting down his guard with Danni.

How it all works out amidst the magic of an almost perfectly mythical Alaska winter is half the fun. The other half is getting a chance to see Alaska though another person's eyes as you get to know Danni and her friends, even George, dubbed the attack turkey. Definitely worth a listen this holiday season.

I got my hands on the book for a honest review via Net Gallery. If you are a Hallmark fan this book is for you. Danni needs a break so she take up the offer from her best friend who happens to live in Alaska. Where she starts to find herself and possible love. You have to read the book to find out what happens.

Mistletoe in Juneau by Dahlia Rose
A Hallmark publication. Holiday romance.
Danni leaves her hometown of New York to visit with her best friend for the Christmas holiday in Juneau, Alaska. She puts her social media influencer career on temporary hold for the slower pace in the smaller Alaskan city. State Trooper Declan is intrigued by Danni, but also leery since he’s been burned by a city girl in the past that couldn’t deal with his disability.

A touching and emotional romance that follows the Hallmark standard template. Knowing what’s going to happen at one point in the story doesn’t make it any less devastating when it does or the joyful tears when everything wraps up.
I loved this story. The bonus recipe at the end sounds really good too.

🎧 I listened to an audio version that was narrated by Janina Edwards. The performance was modulated well with different voices for the main characters. Emotions and stress were enunciated clearly and with passion. I listened to most of the recording at 1.2 which is my regular and preferred speed. I could have sped it up to 1.4 to still be in conversational comfort.
4.5

I received a copy of the audiobook from NetGalley and DreamscapeMedia.

A truly lovely sweet redemptive listen. Danni is the unicorn in her family. They just don’t get her and she has always felt like an outcast. She’s a social media influencer and her life is an open book. Mostly! She misses her BFF who moved to Alaska, isn’t feeling the connection with her boyfriend/manager, she feels rejected by her family and wants to be around people who love her so she heads to Alaska to feel the love and meet her BFF’s newest child that is due any moment. She isn’t anticipating love. And yet…..Enter Declan and the rest of the amazing community of people she meets. There are no huge surprises. Its a lovely listen along the way to a perfect happily ever after. Lovely, fun and if you’ve not been to Alaska start making plans. It’s wonderful.

I love that the author included the cake recipe at the end and I can't wait to give it a try!
Demi is an overbooked social media influencer and feels like she doesn't fit in until she escapes to Alaska to clear her head. While there she meets Declan who is the sheriff that lost a leg in the military and is suffering from PTSD and is instantly skeptical of her but she slowly wins him over. Together they have some conversations about their situations and it feels like they both know each other on a deeper level. This is a very sweet and quick read to get you ready for the holidays.
