Another Christmas holiday romance and maybe not my favorite, but could have been because I read it via audiobook. I finished the audiobook a few days ago and while I can't pinpoint the exact reason why this one didn't completely work for me, but I know there were two things that for me made this book hard to stay engaged with. The narrator was just ok. I don't feel as though she altered her voice much for the different characters, so I often got lost as to which story we were in and who was talking. I wish she had changed her voice up a bit especially for the female characters, so I could keep track of what plot line we were in. The other thing that for me made this book not work on audiobook maybe compared to reading it in print, the cast of characters felt a little large. It could have been just me, but felt as though there were just so many characters and a lot of plotlines, but I am still young to the audiobook genre and may need my books to be a little more simple when I read in that format.

This holiday book based on a hallmark channel original movie is the perfect book to cuddle up to on a chilly fall/winter evening. It’s sticky sweet with sentiment, cheer, and love. I was so excited to be able to preview this advanced copy audio book. You literally feel like you’re in a hallmark movie setting. Everything feels magical and I found myself feeling very cheery and festive which gives you a nice, warm glow of happiness.

Special thanks to the following for the early listen to this wonderful audiobook #hallmarkPublishing #ChristmasinEvergreen #NetGalley

As far as feel-good Christmas reads go, this one was fine. It was a cute little story wrapped up in a neat holiday package. I can see how it would make a great Hallmark movie. As far as romances go, it was a little blah. The couple was already together, but she was waiting for a proposal. Even in the end, there was no proposal. The couple simply decided to stay together. It implies that a proposal may be coming later though.

With all of that said, I read this as a stand-alone novel. I haven't read the rest of the series. This was an audiobook from Netgalley. Again, it was a happy, seasonal read, but nothing spectacular.

I thought this book was cute adorable and a fast listen. Perfect for getting into the holiday spirit and I will definitely recommend it to all of my Hallmark loving.

Thank you for this advanced copy! I love returning to Evergreen every year! This was one of those feel good Christmas books that was super easy to listen to. The narrator's voice was also very upbeat and Christmassy! I like how the couple wasn't fairy taleish and had to work through some things and figure out what was important in life.

Just what is needed at the holiday season! Bells are Ringing is a comforting, seasonal romance. The setting of a small, quaint town was beautiful. The narration was done very well and I enjoyed the sound of her voice. I was definitely in the holiday spirit after this delightful book.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for this advanced audiobook copy to review.

This book was delightful. It was exactly what I needed, a sweet story with a guaranteed Happily Ever After. I loved it. It was sweet and charming. My only criticism is there didn't seem to be a lot of romantic chemistry between our two main characters. They were definitely best friends, but the 'zing' just wasn't really there.

I would definitely read the other books in this series as this was my first. 3.5 stars

Christmas in Evergreen: Bells are Ringing: Based on a Hallmark Channel original movie
Lacey Baker-author
Kathleen McInerney-Reader
The main characters in this tale are Elliot and Hannah. The setting is Evergreen, Vermont, a town built around Christmas. Bells Are Ringing is the 4th book in the Christmas in Evergreen series.
Evergreen, Vermont is a tourist attraction because its roots are embedded in Christmas. The town has a snow globe that is said to answer wishes. Hannah has lived in Evergreen all her life. Over a year ago she wished for love. She found the answer to her wish in Elliot; they had been friends for years and now they found they loved each other. They love each other but neither make a move toward discussing their relationship or furthering it. Elliot grew up helping her parents in the Tinker Shop; he was now the owner. Hannah liked to help out in the shop, but she also wants to give back to the town and does so by being the choir director, working at the local inn, taking on a new project at the Christmas Museum, helping with her brother’s wedding and anything else she is asked to do. Hannah just keeps taking on more and more but neglecting her own personal life. Elliot has a dream and a plan but every time he tries to discuss it with Hannah, she is too busy, or they are interrupted. A snowstorm threatens to delay the wedding. A Scrooge like character is a threat to the Museum.
. Hannah was the main character; she overloaded herself and took Elliot for granted. I enjoyed the plot of this Christmas tale but the voice of the reader got on my nerves. She made Hannah sound whiney. It was all I could do to make it through the book

Christmas in Evergreen is my favorite recurring Hallmark Christmas movie series. This is a novelization of the movie that came out in 2020. The book was just as charming as the movie, and it’s nice to get more internal insight than just what we see in the movie. If you’re looking for a sweet and low stakes Christmas romance, then you might like this book and the movies as well.

Thank you NetGalley and Hallmark for the ARC of the audiobook. I really enjoyed the narrator as well.

This sweet romance is exactly what you’d expect from Hallmark. A romantic a small town romance with a just enough “what if” to keep you rooting for them. Hannah and Elliot live in Evergreen. They’re in love, both have full plates and lots of good things are happening all around them. Mostly that is. They’ve got some choices to make and have yet to really talk to each other about them. Hannah keeps herself so busy and volunteers all of her free time. It is lovely until she uses all of that to avoid the true emotional talks with Elliot. No one can catch her if she just keeps moving. Elliot loves her, but wants to move forward and be his own person and create his own business that is separate and apart from his family. He wants to not be the bosses child. Will their very different wants, needs and desires bring them closer or push them farther apart? Of course it all works out of it wouldn’t be a Hallmark story, but its a fun, sweet HEA listen. No great surprises, but good people in a beloved town. Enjoy the listen.

A very solid 3.75 stars.

I love the Evergreen movie series from Hallmark movies, they are some of my favorites during the holiday season. This is a very cute, quick Christmas story. I was not thrilled with how the narrator did Hannah's voice, she just came off as kind of childish most of the time (not taken into account for my star rating.). I would absolutely read more stories based in Evergreen.

Thank you Netgalley and Hallmark Publishing for allowing me to listen to an audio arc in exchange for an honest review.

Having seen the Hallmark movie Christmas in Evergreen I was thrilled to read the book and more about the people in Evergreen.
Magic snowglobes, Christmas, possible love... all the cutesy things that make a Hallmark movie special are found in this book. I loved listening to the audio. The Narrator did a great job.
I definitely recommend this for all who enjoy Christmas books.

Thank you #Netgalley & #Hallmark for a copy of this audiobook.

This is the 4th book in the Christmas in Evergreen series by Lacey Baker. Although, I read it as a standalone and was able to get along without having read the other three books in the series. I will likely be tracking the others down as well so to experience more of Evergreen this season.

Hannah has fallen in love with her best friend. They both begin new projects but at what cost?

Everything seems perfect. Hannah and Elliot are in love. Her brother is getting married and while she has a lot on her plate she finally takes up something that she’s passionate about, the Evergreen Christmas Museum.

This is what she has been looking for without even knowing it. As soon as she heard about this project it filled her with joy. She is determined to make it a success. But how is she going to do everything else she does and her passion project. She soon learns she can’t do it all and she will have to choose what has to go.

Meanwhile, Elliot has a project of his own he hasn’t mentioned to Hannah. She finds out by accident and the two are sent on a journey of what their paths will mean for them.

I listened to Kathleen McInernay’s narration of this story. It was a wonderful tale of what it truly means to love someone and what you have to be willing to do if you are going to give it your all. I really enjoyed listening to this book. Kathleen did an excellent job narrating.

The side characters were wonderful and Hannah’s family felt realistic even though I didn’t care for her sister much. Her friends and community makes you feel that warm, cozy, loved vibe. I would recommend this to anyone that love a sweet, romantic, love story set at Christmas time. This includes a grinch and someone that just wants to bring the magic of Christmas to everyone, Evergreen’s very own adult Cindy Lou Who.

Initial Thoughts/Expectations:

I've listened to the previous books in this series on audiobook, and seen each of the Hallmark movies that they represent. I've loved the traditionally, almost stereotypically heartwarming feel of the series. The books do seem to add some richer layers to the characters and the stories that the movies tell, so I was really excited to dive in to this year's holiday in Evergreen. I was also looking forward to seeing how Lacey Baker took on the novelization duties from Nancy Naigle, who'd done the first three.

What I Loved:

Within the first few minutes of the audiobook, I felt like I was right back there. The town of Evergreen, Vermont has become a bit of a fictional, holiday "home-away-from-home" for me. I loved seeing the townspeople, who have all taken turns as main characters from previous stories, become a part of this new book. I loved knowing their histories, and seeing how close they all still are, and what's been going on with them since last Christmas.

While the small-town, boy-and-girl-next-door cliches seem to apply (in the very best ways), each of the characters still has depth and their own unique offerings to the story. We have a main couple, but these other characters are so integral to telling the story. Planning a wedding, opening up a new business in town, people finding where they can make their marks, and sometimes finding their own peace with the past and even the future -- all of these things are happening, and affecting the town as a whole. I love that none of the "side stories" are irrelevant. Everything that happens is important, serves a purpose, touches our hearts, and reinforces that these are friends who have become a family.

I think we all have people in our own lives that we can see bits of in the residents of Evergreen. Specifically, I think we all know someone like Hannah. I love her joy in all she does. I love that she is so dedicated to her projects, and all of the people she's trying to help. I can also relate to the "overfilling the to-do plate" problem she has (even though she doesn't realize she's got a problem). She and Elliott are the "picture perfect" couple in so many ways. Unfortunately, in their effort to support each other's everyday plans, they neglect to make sure they share their long term goals and plans for themselves. Again, something I think many of us can relate to.

I love that the conflict in this particular story was never a question of how Hannah and Elliott felt about each other. I much prefer stories where the couple is solid, and the conflict comes from an outside source. While *technically* their issues in this book were of their own making, their love for each other was never in doubt. That makes the resolution and HEA so much stronger in my mind, since the basis of the HEA wasn't in jeopardy. <3

What I didn’t Love:

I really did understand how the problem that Hannah and Elliott had could happen. I understood the reasons why each of them thought they way they did, and how they managed to miss actually SAYING it in a conversation about their future. What I didn't quite feel right about was the resolution. It ended the only way it could/should, really, but I feel like one of the two reasons Elliott had for wanting to make the change he did wasn't addressed. I was fine with how the business side of things worked out, but his personal reasons -- the feelings from his childhood and with his mother -- I think they got pushed aside in his effort to compromise. And I get it, love is full of compromise... but I was sad that the wonder and joy and "energy" he was craving seemed to be left out of the equation. And yes, I realize I'm feeling sad on behalf of a fictional character... but I blame that on both Nancy and Lacey for making me care, lol.

Final Thoughts/Recommendations:

Overall, I was really happy to spend a little more time in Evergreen, and I think Lacey did a fantastic job continuing the story. Hannah and Elliott were a lovely couple to see get even stronger, and I was thrilled to see how all of my other friends were doing. The other stories happening with the townspeople, while we were focused on our main characters, added so much to the overall experience, and gave them all so much more depth and interest. I can't wait to see the movie version of this story, now! If you love sweet love, small-town friends & family, magical Christmas merriment, and smiling til your cheeks hurt... I highly recommend that you spend a little time in Evergreen. <3

Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media and Lacey Baker for an advance audio copy of Christmas in Evergreen: Bells are Ringing. This book is based on an original Hallmark Channel movie. Evergreen is the quintessential small town filled with friendly and civic minded residents. Hannah, the main character of the story, is at a very good place in her life. She has fallen in love with Elliott, her childhood best friend. Her brother is getting married to the town mayor and Hannah is busy with her various jobs and community activities. Perhaps too busy, as she doesn’t seem to have enough time for Elliott, who is feeling a bit neglected. This is a typical Hallmark holiday story which will be enjoyed by Hallmark movie fans as well as those looking for a sweet and uplifting Christmas read. The narrator has a pleasant voice and the narration flows smoothly. However, there seems to be a time lag between chapters. All in all, a nice addition to the holiday books for 2021.

Review is of an audiobook edition, narrative is done by
Kathleen McInerney.... Who did fantastic job! This book will get you into the holiday spirit! The narrator had excellent inflection and it was just like listening to a movie.

What did I like? I love Hallmark movies! This book gave you a great holiday story with some fun characters. A town designed with Christmas in mind. From theme related restaurants to the tinker shop. The story stars Elliot and Hannah, a young couple brought together by a broken snow globe. It was an easy listen and a fun cast of characters!

Would I recommend or buy? This is one book that will easily put you in the holiday spirit. The book is cover to cover holiday inspiration. I really hope I get to see the movie of this book this holiday season. Five stars! I really enjoyed it!

I received a complimentary copy to listen and voluntarily left this review! Super job!

I loved this book!

Everyone is a fan of the Evergreen Series and this just fits right in. This is the 4th book in the Evergreen series, not written by Nancy Naigle though.

Hannah and her boyfriend Elliott love the close knit community of Evergreen, or at least Hannah thought they did.

Hannah is setting up the Christmas Museum but not everyone is as excited as she is about it especially Mr. Cooper, who was left a 3rd of the building by his sister. Hannah becomes overwhelmed by all of her responsibilities but soon realizes what is important.

Elliott wants to expand his business, out of town. He believes that the town will always think of the business as her family's business and not his. Will they be able to work it out and stay in Evergreen?

The fact that Hannah and Elliott are best friends makes their relationship seem more like friends than a couple. I feel like they could have been more lovey-dovey, but that's just my opinion.

I really enjoyed listening to this book. The narrator Kathleen McInerney has a very clear voice. I listed to it at 1.25 pace, and it didn't distort her voice at all, but if I went faster it did.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC. I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy of this story. #NetGalley #ChristmasinEvergreen
