There are not many things I look forward to more than a Brandon Mull book. Fablehaven was one of my all-time favorite series and to have a thrilling series after it, was icing on the cake. This final book in the Dragonwatch series is amazing! I will read anything from this author.

I was so excited to read this fifth and last book in the Dragonwatch series by Brandon Mull. I was also very sad knowing that this was the end of The Fablehaven books. I will freely admit that this series has been one of my favorites and I always recommend it to students. The whole series can be enjoyed by people of all ages.

Return of the Dragon Slayers was an incredible read. It was unbelievable how Brandon Mull seamlessly knitted together each character's ongoing journey as they fulfilled their missions, even though it was harrowing at times. If you look back at the beginning of the first Fablehaven book until this tenth book, Seth and Kendra have made huge character growth. I especially enjoyed reading how each trial that came to them, also ended up helping them in fighting the dragons at the end.

The action in this book is more fierce than the other books but that shows how much is at stake for Seth, Kendra, and the Dragon Slayers if they don't follow through in their quests. There are many breathtaking moments where you don't know who is going to live or die. Another character I've grown to love is Calvin the Nipsie. He has been Seth's constant companion throughout this series. It was exciting to see how he rises to challenges in this novel too.

Now, I'm to the part of my review where I say if you have not read any of the previous books in this series, shame on you! No, seriously though, it is a great idea to read the previous books before reading this last one. You will not understand why things are happening, nor will you understand the motives behind why Seth and Kendra are dedicated to ending the rebellion of the dragons. I highly recommend that you read this series yourself or read it with your kids. Truly Fablehaven is one of my all-time favorite series. Brandon Mull is a fantastic writer and has put his heart and soul into this series. These books will make super gifts for your kids or grandkids. Return of the Dragon Slayers earns 5 stars from me. I'm anxiously awaiting to see what Brandon will write in the future.

I love a good series! It doesn’t matter if that series is written for adults or middle grade readers. Brandon Mull definitely knows how to write a good series. He fills his series with great characters, plenty of action and adventure and magical creatures. Add a great plot and the reader will be hooked.

I loved this book. My favorite thing was getting to read about Seth and Kendra one last time. Both of them are great characters. Seth has a way of getting himself into trouble. He’s never been the character that hasn’t done any wrong. I loved seeing him get his redemption in this book. The journey to his redemption wasn’t easy, it seldom ever is. But it was worth it.

Kendra is one of those down to earth characters who thinks quickly on their feet. I loved how she worked to find her true potential in this book. She learned a lot about herself and the world around her. And she was able to use those things she learned to benefit herself and those around her in this story.

The plot of this one is fast moving and full of adventure. It definitely keeps the reader interested. Such a great ending to a great series. Honestly, I loved the ending. But I was so sad to see this series end. I can’t wait to see what other worlds Brandon Mull dreams up for us to read about!

I bought my own copy of Dragonwatch: Return of the Dragon Slayers. All opinions are my own.

Oh my goodness, where to begin? The dragons have banded together and are about ready to exact their revenge on the humans and Ronodin is in control of the fairy realm. And the giant’s have been exposed. It surely looks like the world is going to fall if the Dragonwatch can’t stop them.

It’s hard to give too much detail without ruining the story. There is so much going on with the kids facing their own challenges and how to come together to fight the dragons. Seth is full of guilt about what he is done. Kendra wants to save Bracken but she also has to follow her duty as a Dragonwatcher. I loved how both are trying to figure out the best paths and how they are learning that not everything is black and white-good and evil.

This is a darker story and a lot more violent. And even though the book is 600 plus pages there were parts that seemed rushed. But having said that I really like the adventure we are taken on as everything comes to an end.

I really like this series and will go back and read it time and time again. I love how thing ended and think this is a great story and series that any middle grade to adult reader will enjoy.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. I voluntarily chose to read and post an honest review.
