This book was everything I look for in a book. It was so exciting. The plot was fantastic. It really had me on the edge of my seat, and my heart racing. It was very well written and flowed well.

This was an engaging mystery. I always enjoy reading Billy Jo McCabe mysteries, and this book was no exception. It kept me guessing as to what would happen next in the story. It was action packed and suspense filled. I highly recommend this book to other mystery readers.

I really enjoyed this book, one of a series but can be read as a stand-alone, fantastic characters and great plots full of twist and turns. Couldn’t put it down, a great author to look out for in the future.

OMG. So good! After reading the book, I think I need to read the fist ones! Gripping and exciting, the story makes you ask for more, more intense scenes, more mysteries to unravel and more secrets to figure out. The characters were all likable and imperfect, totally fitting.

I am excited to read the rest of the series. Cheers to Harlequin Trade Publishing for the ARC!

The Stranger at the Door
Billy Jo McCabe Mystery
by Lorhainne Eckhart
This book must belong to a series. BUT, I also see it as a stand-alone. Very good book, wicked and trouble came knocking for Mark and Billy Jo . In some very intense moments, I was hooked and felt bad for enjoying it so much..Maybe as in watching the pile-up in an accident. I LOVE it. The writer knows her style!

This is my first book of the series but whilst it can be read as a standalone, it would have made things clearer to have read the earlier ones to know how this all began and the histories of Mark and Billy Jo.
The plot itself was well constructed and thought out and I liked the way the book was written. It flowed easily, it kept me interested. The characters were interesting as well and I liked the blossoming relationship between the lead characters.
On a negative note, I thought the ending came very quickly and was abrupt, not matching the tone of the rest of the book. For this reason I gave to deduct 1 star from my rating, to 3 stars
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to review this ARC in exchange for an independent review

Mark the local chief of police is having dinner with Billy Jo his love interest who is a social worker when he receives a knock at his front door. A young girl Sydney who is 16 years old is invited in by Mark to as she stated she needed his help. Sydney speaks to Mark and Billy Jo stating that she is in an abusive relationship with her husband, a very prominent man in the community and that he has had her parents killed. Billy Jo is quite skeptical regarding this situation straight from the start while Mark is keen to find a way to help her.

This is the beginning of a very intense story that moves along at a very fast pace and has all the elements of a great thriller. Exciting, complicated and captivating is how I would describe this book and I devoured it in an afternoon. Lorhainne Eckhart has always been on my list of authors that intrigues me and I have to say this is the book I have enjoyed most that she has written.

Thank you to NetGalley , the author and publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Wow! As far as thrillers and domestic noirs go, this book had everything I could ask for and more. It felt quite short or it may just have been that I flew through it and still need to know more!!! It has a really good premise and is very well written. The characters have depth and complexity. And it's not one of those stories where it all ties up neatly at the end...... depending on what kind of person you are, that could be a good thing or a bad thing lol. I love that no ridiculous stretches were made to make it all complete but I'm left with just a million questions!!! I wasn't aware that it is part of q series so I'm hoping more will be uncovered, the more books I go through. And yes, they are all being downloaded as I type!!! You don't need to read any of the other books to realy love this as a standalone though.... but if you are like me then you'll get the rest of them to hopefully get a bit more clarity. Such a good read!!!

This was great - but seemed far too short. There was a lot which could have been included or enhanced. The characters and relationships are wonderful. The plot itself is an intriguing mystery which will make you question who is on the right side. But just too short!

This was a very interesting book. I haven’t read the other books, but had no problem following along. I really liked the characters of Mark and Billy Jo. I’ll definitely be going back and catching up on the previous books. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
