3.5 stars! This was a fun read with great banter between the main characters. I especially liked how it was different from the typical sport romance books.

This was a great book! I love the fake-relationship-to-lovers trope and this one definitely did not disappoint. Plus there's cupcakes!

I wanted to truly love this one a lot more than I did. The idea is fantastic. I think the dialogue seemed a little cringey to me though. I couldn't get past how they talked to each other, it just didn't seem authentic to me. Inside their minds though their inner thought dialogue was much better. I also didn't really enjoy the break up happening so close to the end, I feel it should have happened way earlier or just not at all. I do enjoy the career woman aspects and fully support needing to find yourself, but you can have a partner and do that, I don't think you always have to be alone to do that so I feel they could have stayed together and it could have turned out the same.

I enjoyed this book very much, Donovan, August and Nicholas own a cupcake shop. They are also football players. Jada who has been trying to find herself decides to go on a dating show. America hates her because she turned down Dr. john’s proposal. Jada is also the granddaughter of the owner of the three football players team. Jada’s grandmother has her work at the cupcake shop in order to get her trust fund. Jada and Donovan pretend they are dating. This is a cute, fun rom-com. You will root for Jada and Donovan. I can’t wait for August’s story. Thank you to NetGalley and St.Martin’s Press for the E-ARC. This is my own opinion.

Fake It Till You Bake It features the makings of a good romance - fake dating, witty banter, and a good old past boyfriend haunting.
While I enjoyed the conversations and dynamics between all the characters, the story as a whole fell flat for me. I wasn’t super interested or convinced by Jada or Donovan as individuals, but I was also disappointed by it because I really wanted to love them.
It was a quick enjoyable read, but I couldn’t say I’d reread it.

Romcoms and cupcakes - yes please!
I immediately fell in love with Donovan, especially how he handles the uppity customer in his store. When that fiery customer turns into Jada - the granddaughter of the owner of the football team he plays for, who just happens to need a steady job while figuring herself out.
I did find some of the middle of this a little slow while the author set up the faking dating scenario and until she got to the ultimate twist. However, I was definitely shipping Jada and Donovan and absolutely enjoyed every minute spent with these two.

Such a fun story about finding yourself amid the chaos that is life….or amidst the calm and order you demand from life. And learning that a little chaos within the order can help shake things (and you!) up, and vice versa. I loved Donovan, who is terrified of losing his cupcake business and can’t figure out why it’s not working, since he has followed every logical step from point A to B. Jada…well, her life is a hot mess and she went viral for turning down the perfect man and the whole world hates her for it and her parents have cut her off and everything is kind of imploding. But she can manage to work at this cupcake shop for a few months, right? I loved all of this!!!

I had a hard time liking Jada at the beginning her personality rubbed me the wrong way but I quickly started to like her. Donovan is book boyfriend material, so is August (but that's the next book) I loved the idea of football stars who bake. I love fake dating and the conflict is just the right amount of angst. There is a third act break up but it kinda had to happen. Really enjoyed this and look forward to the next one.

This was a really cute fake dating book and I loved it. I loved the characters and the fact that the mmc was a baker and a football player. I am really excited for the next book in the series (if there is one).

I thought this book was well done, and cute! I thought it focused a lot on Jada’s trust fund, which I didn’t like. I also felt like it wrapped up at the end too quickly. But overall it was a light and fun read that I enjoyed.

This book is a charming read!
I enjoyed the culinary and romantic elements in this book. It makes it a win-win in my book. Both protagonists blooming into a relationship as the story progresses is great. The author does a wonderful job of storytelling and bringing both the characters and setting to life as well.
My thanks to St. Martin's Press and NetGallery for a digital copy of this book for my review!

SWEET story in every aspect! And who doesn't love men that are strong, sporty and manly but also love baking?!
Opposites attract plot with a mix of learning disabilities, dysfunctional families, and learning to love oneself and be loved.
A story every rom loving lady will certainly enjoy!

This was such an enjoyable book about a reality star and a cupcake-baking football player who fake date in order to save the bakery. I'm a huge fan of fake dating romances and also sweets so this book was on my radar. Wesley did such an amazing job with writing this book. I was hooked from the beginning with how the story was written. I enjoyed the writing style of the book as the pacing was perfect with an incredible setting and storyline. It was also great to see how much food was involved because lets just say that your girl loves food lol. This book is also written in dual povs who are diverse!
The main characters in this book are Jada and Donovan. Jada is a reality star who turned down a proposal and Donovan owns a bakery that is not doing so well. Both are incredible characters and I love how their story was written. They had a great character development and just fit each other so well. There are also great side characters which I was kind of surprised about as in contemporary romance, the sides usually are just side pieces and don't matter. In this book they were greatly involved. Now the romance was the best part as it was enemies to lovers with fake dating. There were so many steamy scenes but not just that the romance was amazing.
The ending was well written and this story was so cute. There were so many cute moments in this book and a lot of good humor. The author did such an amazing job with writing this book and making everything blend together in this book. I totally recommend reading this book especially if you would love to see a male lead bake with fake dating trope!

Jada is a dating show dropout, the most hated woman in America, and she definitely needs an image makeover, STAT. Donovan Dell is a former NFL star, current struggling bakery owner - and he just happens to be Jada’s new boss. He’s controlling, she’s chaotic - and did I mention people think they’re dating?
I love romcoms - I mean, I love them. I’m a 90s kid and cut my teeth on Julia Roberts, Sandra Bullock, and Jennifer Garner. I need silly, I need sweet, but I also need substance. This book has that in spades. Romance and chemistry, family drama, witty banter and tension, and total opposites attract. And you know there was some spice!
This is a sexy, sweet, fantastic summer read that’s silly but smart - and totally yummy - I highly recommend picking this one up!

I had such high expectations. The beginning was tough. Jada is not a likable character. I felt the main female character was a little immature when it came to donovan ad the breakup that late in the book? I enjoyed Donavn. i loved the way he stood up to her family especially her parents. i enjoyed the scheming and the way that jada dealt with her.

Fake It Till You Bake It is a great read for anyone who loves a good romance and a good cupcake! My mouth was drooling throughout the entire book. I would kill to try one of the famous s'mores cupcakes....
I really appreciated the amount of character development that all of the characters went through over the course of the book. Both of our protagonists (Jada and Donovan) shed their icy exteriors and get to know each other through more than just their fake dating scheme. Some of my favorite characters were Jada's grandmother, the regulars at Sugar Blitz, and Ella, the overexcited employee. Fake It Till You Bake It is written in a way that made me feel warm and comfortable. It is an ode to small bakeries everywhere and a reminder that you can find love in the most unexpected places. Everyone loves reality TV dating shows, everyone loves football, and everyone will love this book.

I received an advanced reader’s copy of Fake It Till You Bake It by Jamie Wesley for review.
This was a lovely story. Jada and Donovan are perfect for each other. Donovan supports Jada, reassuring her and having her back when needed. Jada livens and adds fun to Donovan’s life. I liked that the Jada and Donovan were shown spending lots of time together and the romance developed gradually.
This was the first story I’ve read by this author and I’m looking forward to reading the next in this series.

This was a cute book overall. I think it may have just been a case of too many recent reads in the food/restaurant/reality-tv- related subgenre of romance. This book pairs up a recently disgraced reality tv star, Jada Townsend-Matthews, and a cupcake-baking football pro--Donovan Dell.
The two have an awkward meet cute where Jada insults his cupcakes, then--surprise! Jada's grandma is Donovan's football team boss. Since she's been recently cut off from her parents' purse strings, grandma gives her a second chance to "earn" her trust fund. If she can work at Donovan's shop without incident, she's good to go.
Sugar Blitz could use Jada's creative eye and warm personality to draw in customers, so the duo reluctantly agrees to the arrangement. They're still not sure things are going to work, but when a reporter spins a story about the two being an item, they realize it could work for both of them. Cue the fake dating fun!
It's got great chemistry and steam, some neurodivergent rep with Jada's dyslexia, and some really fun-sounding events at the shop. Thanks to SMP Romance for a review copy! Off to indulge my cupcake craving :)

This book follows Donovan, a NFL football player and also the co-owner of the cupcake shop “Sugar Blitz”, and Jada, the daughter of doctors with high expectations and granddaughter of the owner of Donovan’s football team. She is also hiding from the fans of The One and the Only, the reality TV show where she declined a proposal from the lead man. The two meet when Jada comes into the cupcake shop and immediately critiques the shop and its products. In a turn of events, these two end up in a fake dating situation.
Overall, I liked the concept of this book, but it was just a little lackluster. It kept me interested throughout the story, but the logic of the character did not always make sense. Their chemistry did not seem real most of the time and relied on the author telling you rather than showing you. The timeline of the plot was also confusing. It seemed to jump around with no explanation and was hard to follow.
The setting of the cupcake shop was something that I don’t read a lot of and was very enjoyable. Jada’s grandma, Mrs. T, was the standout character of this story.

A cute and sweet treat
4 stars
This is my first book by Jamie Wesley and also - hopefully - the start of a new series about a trio of professional American football players who own and run a cupcake shop. And having enjoyed this one, if August and Nicholas get their own stories, I will definitely be grabbing those up, too.
The writing is really fresh, lighthearted and drew me in right away. It’s the kind of book that you pick up to read just a little and suddenly you find yourself finishing yet another chapter.
When we first meet Jada she’s being a little bit snarky. Add to that, the fact that she’s universally hated for a small incident on a national TV dating show, and I was sure that I would hate her. And yes, she’s a teeny bit abrasive at times, and sometimes too honest, and determinedly independent - but I couldn’t help but like her. She’s sassy - which gives her fantastic banter with Donovan but she’s also got extremely relatable vulnerabilities. And I know she’s fictional but I also loved her dress sense!
I have equally as much love for Donovan. While he’s always something of a type-A personality, the way he gets all uppity and stern when around Jada just made me happy. The pair just rub each other the wrong - or the right - way and the spark was delicious as the cupcakes. I love a bit of enemies-to-lovers, getting all riled up goodness!
It wasn’t just Jada and Donovan that had a great relationship in the book. Donovan and his two business partners / friends / teammates were bromance banter goals. They were hilarious and I devoured any scene they were together in. Fingers crossed that this pair get their own stories as I’m already half in love with them, too! Bonus points if one of them end up with Jada’s bestie, Olivia!
I really enjoyed this tale and it really started off strong. It was when it got towards the end that it started to lose its depth. It was as if the ending needed fleshed out a bit more. Spoiler I mean, there’s the inevitable break-up which Donovan does not see coming. And then 3 months passes before he makes his move. They express that they missed the other and they’re back together. Now I’m not normally one to lobby for more talking between my main characters in a book but I wanted Jada to explain her issues so they could grow as people and as a couple. I felt it was an opportunity missed to really solidify their relationship. SPOILER. But there was still a happy ending so I was more than happy with that. And there’s an epilogue! YAY!
This book is as sweet and delicious as the cupcakes made by Sugar Blitz. I mean, this book should either come with some sort of warning for all the scrumptious cupcakes it describes - or perhaps it should come with free cupcakes. Either way, you’re going to want to stuff your face - either with this book, with cupcakes or both. Looking forward to the next and very pleased to have discovered a new author in Jamie Wesley. 4 stars.
As an aside, I don’t care what anyone says - I HATE the word till. Until or ’til for me. I will happily die on this hill but, thankfully, this has absolutely no bearing on my rating of this book.
