A fascinating insight into the world of the psychiatric profession and how they deal with trauma survivors. It was interesting and unusual to see a crime investigation conducted by a health care professional using the interview technique and how the victim responded.
Very well researched and an intelligent read which kept me gripped.

Dark and often complex, this thriller is genuinely thrilling! It will keep you guessing and make you ask yourself fundamental questions about right and wrong, justice and karma. I loved the fairy tale communications - so clever and really makes you pay attention to the dialogue as well as the plot.

This is a great debut by this new author.
The plot is interesting and unique and the characters are engaging,
I struggled at stages with the flow of the book but I’m really glad I stuck with it as the ending pulled it all together.
It’s a good read for anyone who likes crime thrillers.

Very very twisty.
Detective Laura Shaw seems to have it all: a supportive husband, a happy two-year-old and a great career. She is her team's top victim interviewer, a genius at getting vulnerable people to open up.
That's until she meets Jenny - a 14-year-old assault victim who talks only in fairy tales. Jenny's stepfather is missing and the blood on her clothes isn't her own, so Laura's colleagues need answers fast. But Laura's strange behaviour makes the girl shut down even more, leaving her bewildered partner, Niamh, desperately trying to rescue the situation. It seems that this case has triggered something deep within Laura, and Jenny is not the only one with secrets. As the clock ticks down, Laura teeters on the brink of disaster, grappling with the biggest question of all:
Is every life worth saving?
Awesome book. Recommend to everyone.
Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin UK for giving me an advance copy.

I’m afraid I struggled to get into this book, the opening chapter wasn’t very inviting. Very sorry but I gave up, I wasn’t very happy with the main characters or the dragged out theme.
