Solange Pereira is weeks away from finishing her fellowship at a local Academy in DC and move to Ohio when she is asked to help her wedding planner cousin at a strangers wedding. Things get complicated quick when Solange finds the bride-to-be in the stairwell with someone who's not the groom. As a true romantic, Solange does what must be done—she crashes the wedding and puts a stop to the ceremony.
Dean Chapman has his future planned out perfectly. Although his plans run off course when someone crashes his wedding. Great. Soon after, Dean is about to miss out on an important assignment that could make or break his chances at becoming partner. In order to get back on track with his plans, he blurts out that he's in love with, and dating, the woman who stopped his wedding.
Now Dean must convince Solange to pretend to be his girlfriend. Solange agrees to help him out since she feels guilty about ruining his wedding. Things get complicated as the feelings between them grow. The two know this can never work—Solange is leaving DC in a few weeks and something as nonsensical as love does not fit into Dean's plan.
I loved the chemistry between Dean and Solange. They trusted each other so easily and were way more alike than they expected. Both having grown up with single mothers, they understood how hard it was to fully open up. I want to be their best friends—they are hilarious, smart, and so supportive!
I also loved that Solange's Brazilian culture was a huge part of the book. You get to see her close relationship with her family and their love for each other.
The one thing that bothered me was that it almost felt too much like insta-love. I wanted to see more of a struggle on Dean's side to open up to Solange. Mia Sosa does a great job of showing the sexual attraction while also giving a good reason why they are each holding back from the relationship both romantically and emotionally. I love how respectful Dean is of Solange— sign me up!
Also for those of you wondering— yes there is steam!

Fake dating trope done right!
The Wedding Crasher is laugh out loud hilarious, and a total binger. I was quickly wrapped up in Solange and Dean’s fake dating ploy & all the shenanigans that ensued—they’re seriously one of the best couples I’ve read, and loved every minute of it. Despite its predictability and clichés, The Wedding Crasher is a fun quick read that is surprisingly spicy and will keep you hooked.

The Wedding Crasher was a fun, enjoyable read. Mia Sosa’s writing is funny and spicy, and I loved seeing a glimpse into her characters from The Worst Best Man, especially the hilarious and strong matriarchs, the tias. I connected with Sosa’s AfroLatinx heroine Solange, her Brazilian heritage, and her journey navigating decisions toward her future. However, it did feel as though most of the story was focused on her incompatibility with Dean and this was reiterated again and again throughout. Overall the story arc was well done and I finished it feeling happy and sated. Would recommend!

The book was AMAZING! It has literally everything I love in a book; fake dating, meddling families, rom-com, etc. Now I feel like I need to go back and read Lina and Max's book ASAP! Definitely a reread!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this book! Such a great follow-up to The Worst Best Man, whose character's are also in this book. The Wedding Crasher follows Solange and Dean as they navigate a fake relationship, after Solange crashes and breaks up Dean's wedding. They both have a reason to fake a relationship (work and family expectations), and both have a reason to keep explaining away the real feelings that come up. They get themselves pulled into some chaotic events throughout their journey and I was here for all of it. I would classify this as a slow burn since the main characters did not get together until later in the book. The only real drawback for me was how weird the circumstances could get (mainly THAT party), but I still very much enjoyed it! It was moderately spicy with fun tension building and an overall great plot. Would definitely recommend for people that enjoy the fake dating trope!

Thank you to NetGalley along with Avon and Harper Voyager for providing me with a copy for advance review!
Solange accidently ruins the wedding she’s supposed to be assisting her cousin at. Now the groom Dean needs her help.
The Wedding Crasher is a fun new take on the fake dating trope. Solange is fun loving but all in on any project. Dean is a bit more straight laced and has everything planned, start to finish, even his future. Or does he? Opposites do attract!
I really enjoyed Mia Sosa’s other book, The Worst Best Man. The Wedding Crasher is just as good if not better. This book is the perfect mix of sweet and spicy. The tias are really the stand out stars in this book. So much sass.
I love how the author introduces and immerses so much of Brazilian culture into her books. All the food descriptions may leave you a little hungry.
The Wedding Crasher is fantastic and I can’t wait to see who’s story the author brings us next.

I loved all about this book, from the cover to the plot. Solange and Dean were a great match. Solange was more emotioanal, Dean was more pragmatical, the two combined form a beautiful relationship.
Mia Sosa nailed it in this book. It was fun, emotional, romantic and sensual. You must read it!!! A great rom-com

Mia Sosa’s second book The Wedding Crasher cranks up the humor, heart, and steam from The Worst Best Man in this must read romantic comedy. The Wedding Crasher follows Solange, as she sees something she shouldn’t at a wedding she is helping out at and decides to stop the union. The end result? She somehow gets roped into pretending to date the groom whose wedding she stopped. Dean is looking for someone to sit at his side at law firm functions (once he makes partner), essentially, a business partner in marriage. Solange is passionate-- she wants to travel, she wants to fall in love, and she won’t settle for less than she wants. Although they want completely different things from life, their chemistry is undeniable and the longer they spend pretending to date, the harder it is to remember it’s fake. Can these two make it work, or were they always destined to fail? I really loved this unique story. The premise is so funny and Solange and Dean are the definition of opposites attracting. Solange is an absolute riot and readers will fall in love from the first page. Perfect for fans of Priscilla Oliveras and Christina Lauren.

I loved this so much! The characters are what did it for me. I will definitely be recommending this to my friends.

This was such an incredible book. Mia Sosa has never disappointed but this book definitely shows so much improvement in writing and character chemistry. Dean and Solange were perfect for each other the second they met but their journey together through fake dating and friendship made them better people in each other’s lives and that nearly had me in tears. I loved the greater cast of characters, the cameos from book one, the banter, sexual tension, smut, and curve balls through and through. I was so happy the third act breakup was not explosive but an understanding parting of ways which they realised eventually was not necessary. LOVED it!

This felt like an AO3 fanfiction in the best kind of way....one bed, fake dating, spicy, full of pining....I adored it! I haven't read her previous book yet, but I felt like I didn't need to to understand what was happening...but I want to read it now that I've read and loved this one! I love these character so much and the growth that they experience throughout the novel. I fell in love with Solange....she is strong and intelligent, and not at all whiney- which I feel like I see a lot within romance books these days. Dean is also easy to love, despite the fact that he pushes the very idea of it away. Their chemistry is EVERYTHING! Please, please go read this!

This book was super cute and it had some really fun pop culture references! I loved the characters, they were so funny and great. This was a fun read!

"Considering my track record, a happily-ever-after like that is about as likely as my meeting a shape-shifting bear in line at my neighborhood Dunkin' Donuts."
This silly, fun, entertaining rom com opens with our main girl Solange deciding to do that thing no one ever does when the priest asks for the audience at a wedding to "speak now or forever hold your peace." That's right - a non-guest (she's the cousin of the wedding planner for crying out loud) breaks up a wedding between two people she's never met when she overhears that the bride-to-be has fee fees for someone who ain't the groom. So in an obvious next step, Dean, the groom-to-be-who-is-no-longer, asks Solange if she'll fake date him for a hot sec so he can come across as a stable and reliable gentleman to some stuffy lawyers at the DC firm he works at. The whole thing doesn't really make any sense, but they're trying to lure some hot shot out of town lawyer to join the firm and the partners only want couples to show her and her significant other around the city, so okay? And of course Solange rolls with this fake dating plan because she feels so bad about breaking up this wedding that she had no business breaking up in the first place. But I digress. The reader subsequently finds out that these two have nothing in common, so of course they're never going to get together. I mean, they're both young, hot, attracted to each other, hard working, driven, kind, honest, gentle souls with strong family ties and solid friendships. See? Nothing in common at all!
Oh wait - I remember what the issue is now, given that Sosa reminds us about it ad nauseam: Dean is the type of guy who has a life plan with a checklist. The goal is to own a home, be married, and make partner before he turns 30. He's got the first item locked and loaded and thought he was on track for items 2 and 3... until Solange enters the picture. And then we've got Solange:
"I'd rather be alone than be with someone who isn't prepared to love me with all their heart."
If you forget Solange's stance on love, fear not, because it's mentioned roughly every other page or so throughout Wedding Crasher. What do you think - is it even feasible that these two clearly opposite people will ever end up together? I guess you'll have to nab a copy of Wedding Crasher to find out for sure!
While my review up until this point has been a bit flippant, I did find this read to be entertaining. Plausible? Not really. But did anyone really believe Drew Barrymore was in high school in Never Been Kissed? Did removing Rachel Leigh Cook's glasses really transform her from hideous to gorgeous in She's All That? I don't think so. Rom coms are supposed to be lighthearted and fun, which fits the bill for Wedding Crasher. If you're looking for a Pulitzer Prize nominee, you're looking at the wrong book. But if you're looking for some mild chuckles with the possibility of saying "awww!" out loud at the mushy parts, you've found yourself a winner.

This was a fun read and while predictable it was cute and the premise was fun. I always love a fake dating scenario that just gets out of hand with too many people knowing its fake and the main characters falling in love of course. It was a really cute story and it was a fast read.
Thanks to Avon and Harper Voyager and Netgalley for the complimentary copy of this book in e-book form. All opinions in this review are my own.

Fake Dating, Axe Throwing, and Sex Parties! Plus we get to revisit the delightful characters from The Worst Best Man. We will be buying copies for our library.

This was a fun and funny read! Solange was a delight and together with Dean I really enjoyed this one. There were so many scenes that had me laughing, really laughing. Genuwine's Pony anyone???...I am giving zero context because you need to experience this yourself LOL. I looove the combo of MC who has a whole plan for their life wih MC who really doesn't have one.
And Solange's family reminds me so much of my Caribbean family. meddlesome, loud, loves to eat and feed people all the delicious things. always trying to get in your business and match make.
Also Dean and Solange are pretty steamy together and I loved how they went from strangers to fake dating to actual friends and more. Loved this one!

DNF at 50%
Given that I enjoyed Mia Sosa's first book, The Worst Best Man, so much, I was excited to read this. But in the first 50% of the book, I felt there wasn't much significant interaction between the main characters, Dean and Solange. Dean was prepared to walk down the aisle in a modern-day marriage of convenience, but Solange interrupts the wedding to tell Dean his bride-to-be is in love with someone else and shouldn't go through with it. So Dean, in order to get ahead at his law firm, asks Solange to be his fake girlfriend. I mean I do enjoy fake girlfriend/boyfriend trope, that's fine.
Right around 40-50% of the way through, we go completely, totally off the rails. Dean and Solange find themselves at a sex party! And they decide to hang out in like a voyeuristic type scenario and watch other people having sex. If this is your thing, that's great. I can appreciate when fully consenting adults, if that's what they want to do, I'm all for it. However, it's really, really not my thing and it was so bizarre for me. THEN, immediately after, Solange's cousin goes into labor, and her husband isn't with her, so Dean and Solange rush to bring the cousin to the hospital. The cousin puts ELECTRODES on Dean (who consented) so she can shock him every time she feels a contraction because "it's supposed to help with labor." Like...I do consider myself a feminist, but again, this is too much for me. I completely lost interest in this book.

This book was enjoyable and I found myself taking my time reading it just to prolong it. A fun and sweet romance. Sosa has done it again and I can't wait to read more of this series.

I love a good fake dating novel! When a woman Dean's never met derails his wedding, he's not devastated, but what will be devastating is if his lack of significant other affects his ability to make partner at his law firm. Solange knows she did the right thing stopping Dean's wedding when she realized he fiancé was in love with another man, but she knows she owes Dean, so when he needs to convince his law firm that he's in a serious relationship, she's willing to be his fake girlfriend. I loved all the characters and the way feelings developed between Dean and Solange as they got closer and closer.

Thanks NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for honest review! Sosa delves back into the Pereira family for another romance! This time we follow Solange, Lina's cousin, and Dean, the man whose wedding Solange crashes when she overhears the bride admitting she loves someone else. A solid use of the fake dating trope, what works so well in the first one (the Pereira family's warmth and vivacity) is just as excellent in this one. The sex scenes are bolder and more risqué than Lina and Max, but Sosa is an expert at building in consent into the story. It's so nice to see Latine romantic leads, I will snag anything from this writer in the future!
