Two friends Frankie and Verity always celebrate New Year together with their husbands. They now live opposite each other and have all known each other since college. The story is set in an idyllic part of the Cotswolds. Frankie has 3 lovely little children but Verity wants to get pregnant but it hasn’t happened yet for her. Their husbands are successful in their own fields as a famous painter for verity and an architect for Frankie. After a car accident Alice gets invited as well and this affects the dynamics of the group. They all have secrets from each other but Alice has the most divisive secret of all. What starts off as a fun read rapidly becomes a domestic thriller. Well written and beautifully paced with the secrets Emery lets us know from each of the characters at just the right time in the evening and finally after New Year’s frightening conclusion when we see children injured and one husband dead this is an excellently written story. Emery lets us know their secrets at the times as we need to know. You may see Alice as the interloper who spoils everything and causes the accidents but she had a good reason to do it. Now it is up to you to make your mind up as the secrets they all shared shatters their lives forever. Who would you blame if anyone or was it just an accident waiting to happen all the time.

A good read from a new author to me. Very well written with a good story line and characters.

For me personally it wasn't an edge of seat thriller but I did enjoy it and I have no hesitation in recommending.

Thank you to Netgalley and Harper Collins OMC for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

I love this will told thriller about obsession within a neighborhood. I absolutely couldn’t wait to finish it and I was amazed by the ending. One of the best thrillers I’ve read all year.

Secrets Abound….
Secrets abound in this edgy suspense set in an exclusive community in The Cotswolds where, forever friends, Frankie, Verity, Max and Red have sumptuous homes. Not is all quite as it seems, however, and newcomer Alice seems particularly disgruntled about their apparent wealth. As the reader is led up to events approaching the spectacular New Year’s Eve party the truth may out and the past may well come back to bite certain people when they least expect it. A wholly engaging and entertaining one sit read with a credible, well crafted cast.
