A fun cosy who dunnit. I'd read one book before but not all of them but it did not matter.

This was an easy read and I'll look out for further books in the series.

Thank you for the arc

A Cornish Recipe for Murder is the first book I have read in the Nosey Parker books but it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone as I did.
I am a big Great British Bake Off fan and the baking roadshow competition in the book is very similar and Jodie Parker has been selected as a contestant.
She is an ex-MET copper who is in a relationship with DCI Nathan Withers and her catering business is doing well.
There are a few characters on set, including her fellow contestants, judges and even a drag queen! There’s tension on set between one of the runners and one of the judges.
And then a body is discovered and the grounds are flooded with detectives and CSI teams and of course Jodie can’t help but be a nosey parker and assist with the detective work.
Will Jodie manage to juggle the competition and her urge to solve the murder?

This was a great story, filled with the twists and turns.
A really great read!

A Cornish Recipe for Murder (a.k.a A Body at the Bake Off), is the fifth book in the Nosey Parker Mysteries series. It was fantastic! The main character, Jodie (nicknamed Nosey) is a former police officer, now caterer/chef. In this book she winds up competing in a national bake off contest, where a murder takes place. As her usual nosy self, she tries to stay focused on the multi-day baking events but can’t seem to stay away from investigating the murder. The book was hysterical, just like the others in the series. Her teenage daughter is darling, her mother is an absolute riot, and her little dog is adorable. The pace of the book is great, the descriptions of the different contestants’ food items are wonderful, and the supporting characters are very likeable. The romance aspects are sweet. This was my favorite book in the series as of yet.

I highly recommend this book, and series. Having the lead character be a former copper helps - no silly inexperienced amateur sleuth out making silly/reckless decisions. I really liked that. You'll definitely like Jodie, her sweet preteen daughter, and all the other characters surrounding her. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Thank you Netgalley and One More Chapter/Harper Collins UK for this wonderful ARC. In return, I'm submitting my unbiased and voluntary review and opinion.

Jodie 'Nosey' Parker returns for a fifth slice of cosy mystery. This time, she finds herself entered into a baking competition that bears more than a passing resemblance to GBBO. Which is good because who doesn't like a good baking show? Well, at least one person, as no sooner than Jodie gets baking, there's a murder. It's fair to say that should you find yourself in Cornwall and get introduced to an ex police officer called Jodie, just run. Death follows her everywhere! Soon, Jodie's juggling baking with sleuthing, trying to ensure that murder doesn't end up being the real showstopper.

I'm not a great fan of cosy crime books, but this is my second Jodie Parker novel, and it's fair to say I'm hooked. It's witty, heartwarming, and very entertaining. I'm looking forward to a Cornish Seaside Murder!

A Cornish Recipe for Murder is another fun instalment in Fiona Leitch's delightful Cornwall-set series featuring chef-caterer Jodie "Nosey" Parker.

The style of these mysteries is unashamedly at the "cosy" end of the spectrum, however Fiona Leitch achieves a higher standard of veracity and somewhat grittier content than many other authors working in this sub-genre. Not only is protagonist Jodie Parker a former MET police officer, but she's in a relationship with Detective Chief Inspector Nathan Withers, the senior officer in the Cornwall town of Penstowan. Jodie has a habit of being "on the scene" when crimes are committed, and Nathan shares details of his investigations with her, and gives her a fairly long leash when it comes to carrying out her own surreptitious questioning of suspects and collection of evidence.

In this instalment, Jodie is competing in the Cornwall section of the new series of the hit television show "The Best of British Baking Roadshow", a thinly-veiled facsimile of the much-loved Great British Bake Off. It's a gloriously enticing setting for a cosy murder mystery, and with a great cast of supporting characters, plenty of secrets and skullduggery and a picturesque Cornish setting, it doesn't disappoint!

I'd enthusiastically recommend A Cornish Recipe for Murder, and the whole "Nosey Parker" series to readers who enjoy well-plotted cosy mysteries, with quirky characters and a heartwarming family sub-plot. I can't wait for the next (sixth) book, A Cornish Seaside Murder: A gripping cozy mystery with twists you won’t see coming, due for publication in mid-2023.

My thanks to author Fiona Leitch, publisher HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter, and NetGalley, for the opportunity to read and review this entertaining title.

When popular TV baking contest and national institution ‘The Best of British Baking Roadshow’ rolls into town and sets up camp in the grounds of Boskern House, a historic stately home near Penstowan, former police officer Jodie ‘Nosey’ Parker finds herself competing to represent Cornwall in the grand final.

But with a fellow contestant who will stop at nothing to win and a drag queen host with secrets of their own, Jodie discovers that the roadshow doesn’t just have the ingredients for the perfect showstopper cake, but also for the perfect murder…

And when a body is found in the grounds of the house, Jodie is drawn into another high-stakes case along with local DCI Nathan Withers.

Can Jodie expose the culprit? Or will the murderer become the real showstopper.
What a fun read! A classic whodunit, all set in the beautiful Cornish countryside. Escapism at it's very best.

A Cornish Recipe For Murder by Fiona Leith

I enjoyed this book about a baking roadshow. Body is found on the grounds where the show is being filmed. Lots of suspects. Characters were enjoyable. Keeps you in suspense Toby the end.

Thanks to Net Galley for sending me an advanced reader’s copy for review.

The Best of British Baking invades Cornwall and our favorite girl in town, Jodie Barker manages to get selected. A blessing that may help her get more publicity around her catering business. But unfortunately as soon as the cameras get rolling and the competition gets on the way...murder invites itself among the contestants and Jodie, as you well know by now if you have previously met her, is incapable to stay away from trying to resolve a murder...

A delightful whodunit full of sparkling dialogues and lots of slapstick that includes scrumptious pastries, a fabulous drag queen, a wig, a faithful dog, a handsome detective chief inspector and a wacky supporting cast of exquisitely drawn characters.

A fabulous British dessert that really deserves to be enjoyed without any moderation whatsoever!

Many thanks to One More Chapter and Netgalley for this terrific ARC

I have not read this from the first book but i am going to have to invest in this series.
Reminded me a lot of the Agatha Raisin series, full of humour and great characters.
Jodie is so likeable you almost feel sad when you come to the end of the book because you know it will be a while before you can read the next one, so thank god i have not started from book 1!

Although this is #5 in the Nosey Parker series, it’s the first I’ve read, though probably not the last.

The premise is that a former Met officer has returned to her native Cornwall where she has retrained a chef. Her boyfriend and daughter have entered her for a baking competition that is a mashup between the Great British Bake Off and Great British Menu. But before you know it, there is a murder der, der, der….!

This is great fun, with likeable characters, lots of humour and best of all, recipes interspersed along the way - which I am a total sucker for.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher, HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter for an arc of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
