I really enjoyed this cosy crime novel. Fiona Leitch injects a gentle humour into her writing which made this story a really pleasant summer read. Ex-police officer turned cook, Jodie (Nosey) Parker enters the regional heats of a baking competition very reminiscent of a well know Channel 4 baking show. The main presenter is a drag queen with attitude and, when someone is murdered, they, together with the competitors and crew are all suspects. Enter, Jodie's partner as the investigating officer and we soon learn why her nickname is Nosey! Unlike MC Beaton's novels, Leitch tells the story in the first person, a device which helps bring her Jodie's character and sense of humour come alive. Her thoughts and observations on her fellow suspects also help to bring them alive on the page. This is the second in the series but I read it as a standalone and found it just as enjoyable. Having said that, I will seek out the first in the series as this was such a light pleasant read. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants an amusing well written cosy crime novel.

It was an okay book to read. Nice enough characters but because of the mix between the cooking and the investigation, the storyline seemed to take forever to move on. Equally it wasn't very gritty so it didn't keep you captivated wanting to read on to find out more about the investigation.

This is the fifth book in this series, I haven’t read any of the others so you can read it as a stand-alone. After reading this book though, I’ll be reading the others.
Jodie Parker is the main character, after retiring from the Police force she moves to Cornwall. Her family has entered her into a baking competition and after getting accepting the story begins. Jodie is a fun character to read about and loved her nosiness. After a murder is committed, she tries to help investigate while baking for the roadshow.

I really enjoyed the storyline, characters and the location the book is set in. The author writes well and is very descriptive. Loved the cover too. Can’t wait to read the others. 4.5 stars

This time Jodie is a contestant in a baking contest where, inevitably, there is a murder. Her boyfriend Nathan is the detective investigating the murder and she helps him trimming to track down the murderer.
I'm not an avid watcher of the Great British Bakeoff, however have seem enough of these to envisage the scene and the characters - there is a I can't believe it's not Mary Berry and a Lily Savage type character amongst others. Again this isn't a story to go through with a fine tooth comb looking for clues, rather for me a perfect Cosy Mystery. I would give it 4.5* but this seems a bit churlish so have rounded it up to the full 5* as some readers see a 4* review as negative, rather than a score showing a good book well worth reading
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book and I had already pre-ordered it as I enjoyed reading the previous one.

What a welcome return to Cornwall and Nosey Parker.
I love these stories, red herrings, family dramas, familiar friends.
This time the action centres around a TV Baking competition, and our everyday heroine has a ringside view, as she is one of the contestants.
It doesn't matter if you have read all of the series or just stumbled upon this title, back stories are explained, but not laboriously, so as to put regular readers off.

Thank you NetGalley, Fiona Leitch and One More Chapter for the ARC A Cornish Recipe for Murder. This is my personal review.
The Nosey Parker Mysteries Series is one of the best cozy mystery series I have been reading.
Jodie ‘Nosey’ Parker’ gets entered into a baking contest by her family. One of the production crew is found dead and this sets her off on the path to finding out who the killer is and hopes to stop it from happening again.
The characters in this book all fit together perfectly. I enjoy the mystery, humor, and of course a bit of romance.
I was convinced I had the murder figured out but of course with the great writing I was led on the wrong path! I love a cozy that is not easy to figure out.
This is a great cozy series and I encourage you to read the series – you will be glad you did!

I was so thrilled to get to read the next book in this series as they never disappoint. It was easy to see the parallels between the fictional baking show and real one, and this coupled with the well written characters made this an exciting and thrilling read. I liked how this was plotted and the twists and turns that happened. The ending was done well and it stayed in the realm of the believable but not super obvious. The characters were all distinct from each other and it was easy to see their own motives and interests without them being too explicit or overwritten.

This is a story of a murder set against the background of a baking competition in the same vein as Bake Off. I liked the story, it was gently told and the characters were nice enough that I care for them. My only negative were the ‘asides’ comments put in brackets that I found completely unnecessary and for me actually upset the rhythm of the narrative. Otherwise a nice read.

Hugely entertaining.

With a surname of Parker, Josie is inevitable called Nosey, she certainly lives up to her nickname. Josie, ex-police officer now chef, is chosen to compete in a TV reality baking contest, facing other contestants who intend winning by any means: cheating, sabotage – or murder?

When the body of a man from the production company is discovered on the film site, Josie finds herself in the midst of a murder investigation. She tries to concentrate on her daily baking challenges but the lure of investigating is too strong to resist. Written from Josie's POV, the book contains sparkling dialogue between the characters, Josie's commentary and her own ironic thoughts were frequently hilarious. Plenty of false trails to challenge the reader's attempt to identify 'who done it'.

5th book in the series, each is standalone. It didn't matter to me that I'd not read the previous four (I will) each character is clearly introduced.

The recipe for Josie's show stopping fruit cake is at the end of the book, don't miss it.

Thank you Harper Collins, One More Chapter and NetGalley for the ARC, this review is my personal, unbiased opinion.

Total enjoyment! What more could you ask for? Fiona’s novels are wonderful detective stories about Nathan a DCI and Jodie, previously a member of the police force and now a chef. who likes to get involved with criminal goings on and Nathan a DCI. This novel is set in Cornwall around a popular baking competition. I found it absorbing- as all her novels are, and I love following the development of Nathan and Jodie’s relationship.

This is book 5 in the Nosey Parker series of cozy crime books and having enjoyed the previous books I was looking forward to reading this. Sometimes you just want a nice light read and this was exactly that. It’s a really good, enjoyable, cozy read with more than a passing nod at one of my favourite television programmes The Great British Bake Off. Well written with lots of touches of humour and wry jokes. The best thing about this series is the wonderful characters. Not just Jodi and her lovely mother and daughter but in this episode there are some great contestants and host comedian Russell Lang or rather his fabulous alter ego Barbara Strident.

Briefly, when former police officer turned chef Jodie ‘Nosey’ Parker’s family enter her for ‘The Best of British Baking Roadshow’ she little realises she is about to be slap bang in the middle of a murder investigation. Jodie is now in a happy relationship with DCI Nathan Withers who is leading the investigation and he knows better than to try and keep her off the case. Russell is clearly hiding something but Jodie also has suspicions about some of the contestants and the film crew. Can Jodie and Nathan find the killer before he/she strikes again?

There are enough red herrings in the story to keep a crime reader happy and I didn’t guess the culprit until they were revealed. A very enjoyable and lighthearted read.

This is the second book I have read in his series and I am finding them very satisfactory reads. They seem slightly more logical than many cosies because the main character used to be in the police force herself and is dating a policeman, DCI Nathan Withers. This gives her a much better reason than usual to go around asking people questions about serious crimes.

Jodie "Nosey" Parker is the MC and in this book she is entered by her family into The Best of British Baking Roadshow. She does not expect to win especially as a member of the crew is murdered and she is far more interested in that than in baking cakes. In the end she combines her detective work with her cooking and does both rather well.

I like all the characters in this series and enjoy their interactions except when the author attempts to introduce the vernacular into people's speech. The worst example is "innit" for isn't it. I do understand why authors do this but it makes me cringe! At least she does not use 'ain't'.

That is a minor criticism of what is a very enjoyable book and I look forward to reading more about Jodie and her family in future books.

Jodie is back in another delightful read!
In the fifth instalment of the “ nosey parker” series , Jodie is taking part in a baking road show and one of the production team is found dead.
Jodie is intrigued as always and has to do a little investigating along side her boyfriend DCI Withers .
The writing is easy to read with a nice mix of humour , romance , murder and baking which makes a great combination.
The characters are likeable and I love the added humour from Jodie’s mum .
When reading a Jodie Parker book I feel it’s like reconnecting with old friends .
A great cosy mystery an enjoyable and easy read too!
Thanks to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK.

The first thing that drew me to this book was the title and then the blurb. I love anything food and cooking related. Then add ‘The Best of British Baking Roadshow’ coming to town and of course a murder, well I had to read this one.

And so glad I did as I loved it. The quirky characters are great and really made this book. There are twists and turns, there is humour and there is some intrigue and suspense. And even though this is the fifth book in the series (and I have not read the others) this is still a book you can read as a stand alone. I don't feel I have missed out by not reading the other books (although I will now have to hunt them down I think!).

Jodie (Nosey) Parker.... I love that name... an ex-police office but now a chef and competitor of the bake-off, but of course once a body is found she does what she does best and start snooping around.

This is a fun, entertaining read and I really enjoyed it. It had a bit of everything and was so very easy to read. Great book and highly recommend it for a bit of fun and enjoyment.

Having read previous books about Nosy Parker I was looking forward to good read and I wasn't disappointed. I like a detective novel and one which also involves food will always be a winner for me. The characters are engaging and you're never sure what will happen next!

In the fifth installment of The Nosey Parker Mysteries series Jodie, ex cop and amazing caterer, is one of "The Best of British Baking Roadshow" contestant, she isn't a great baker but since her boyfriend Nathan signed her up and the production invited her to the show she couldn't refuse. During the competition some little sabotages occurr to our heroine, and everything becomes even more hectic when a murder happens and Jodie helps DCI Withers to find the culprit.

I liked A Cornish Recipe For Murder so much, I got pulled into the book and I couldn't put it down before I solved the mystery.

The author's writing is enjoyable and easy to follow, the whodunit is intricate and the characters are diverse and well developped.
I was so curious and happy to see Jodie and Nathan relationship grow, my romance rader heart was all warm.

Do not worry to begin this series from here on because all the books are well explained and easy to follow.

I was unaware that this is part of a series when I downloaded it, perhaps reading the previous ones might have made it more familiar and therefore enjoyable, but I doubt it. Unfortunately I struggled to get more than a few chapters in. I disliked the way that the character ridiculed her elderly mother's habits and mannerisms and the style of prose in general. The whole thing felt a little too cosy and unchallenging, I do realise that this is just what some people want, particularly in a holiday book, so this would be great for them, just not for me I'm afraid.

To Jodie's surprise, her boyfriend entered her in the Best of British Baking Roadshow. However, after someone is murdered she is having trouble concentrating on her bakes as she keeps slipping out to do what Jodie "Nosey" does best.

The familiar setting of the Best of British Baking Roadshow made it easy to immediately feel comfortable with this story but my favorite part was the tremendously diverse cast of characters. Thanks to One More Chapter and NetGalley for an ARC. The opinions expressed are my own.

I had not realised that this was part of a series - number 5 - it could be read as a stand-alone although I suspect it would have been more enjoyable if you had some of the backstory of the characters. The novel centres around the Best of British Baking roadshow which sets up camp near Penstowan. Jodie Parker, previously with the Met police, is one of the five contestants when a body is found in the grounds. Jodie finds herself helping the investigation and trying to do herself justice in the contest.

I liked the relationship between Jodie and Nathan Withers, the DCI - personal and professional - and felt that they were well supported by the secondary characters.

The ending was a tad predictable and I found the novel a little too ‘cosy’ for me!

This is not my usual reading matter but it was such a fun read that I now feel that I have been missing out !
It is perfect summer reading, I could almost smell the cut grass and the baking coming through the book. I definately will be reading more from this fun author.
