This is not my usual reading matter but it was such a fun read that I now feel that I have been missing out !
It is perfect summer reading, I could almost smell the cut grass and the baking coming through the book. I definately will be reading more from this fun author.

I really enjoyed this fun cosy mystery! Although this is the 5th book in the series, it is the first I have read, and it definitely stands alone.

Jodie discovers she has been signed up for the televised Best of British baking competition, by her mother, daughter and DCI boyfriend. When a body is discovered near to the set, can Jodie focus on her baking and help solve the murder?

I really liked the characters in this book - presenter Barbara was fabulous, and the relationship she had with Jodie's mother was so funny. I'll definitely be looking up the previous books in the series, and will look out for the next!

This is the first book in the series I have read, and I absolutely loved it! Great characters, enjoyable plot. It was a really easy read and I can’t praise it enough. I will definitely be reading Fiona’s other books. 100% recommend this book! Thank you #netgalley

A Cornish Recipe for Murder is the delightful fifth book in the Nosey Parker Mystery series by Fiona Leitch. I love a good British cozy, and this series is one of my favorites. It just keeps getting better and better!

Jodie "Nosey" Parker is a former police officer turned chef. She has a hunky detective boyfriend, a precocious teenage daughter, and a mother who is just a hoot! This story finds her competing in a reality baking show based on The Great British Bake Off. Unfortunately, an on-set murder means Jodie will be just as focused on ferreting out the murder as she is on her show-stopper.

Leitch's inviting writing style, and this entertaining plot hooked me immediately. Well-paced and full of red herrings, it's a clever whodunnit against a backdrop of reality tv fun. I loved the Bake-Off scenes, and we get a bit more of Jodie's sweet romance. The dialogue between characters is witty and natural, and these books feel like a visit with friends. And Jodie's internal dialogue is always so much fun to read, with her dry humor and amusing observations, and she was in top form! I was smiling on page 1. If you enjoy humourous and well-crafted British mysteries, you should try this series!

(4/5) If you like: British humor, lighthearted mysteries that keep you guessing, The Great British Baking Show (or as they call it in the UK, the Bake Off), lovable side characters, and descriptions of baked goods, you'll like this book! I read this book almost entirely in one sitting; the pacing is good and doesn't feel like it drags anywhere. There are certainly enough twists to keep one guessing until the end of the book. This is the fifth book in a series, but the first book I read was the previous book, A Cornish Christmas Murder, and I didn't feel like I was missing too much (although if my TBR ever clears up I would likely enjoy the first three books too). It would definitely work as a standalone.

Although this is the fifth book in this cosy crime series, it is the first I have read but it worked well for me as a stand alone.

Jodie (Nosey) Parker is an ex-police officer turned chef whose family have entered her into a regional bake-off competition along the lines of the GBBO. With four other contestants from her region, she has to compete in a series of knock out rounds to represent Cornwall in the the national finals. When one of the crew is murdered, the ex-cop in Jodie can't help but live up to her nickname and snoop around the set and the grounds where they are filming, aided by her boyfriend local DCI Nathan Withers.

The novel is a lot of fun, with a lot of baking of amazing cakes, a variety of contestants all keen to win and a popular drag queen co-hosting the show. Jodie is a great character along with Nathan, her mum Shirley and daughter Daisy. This is a series I'm definitely keen to read more of in the future.

Fiona Leitch is a delight. A recommended purchase for collections where English mysteries and foodie fic are popular.

Light, frothy, fun and of the moment! Loved this book! A perfect holiday read and even if you’re not one for baking you will soon be whipped into the fondant cream delights of this wonderful who dunnit based down in Cornwall! Jodie, exMet Police is now happily ensconced down in Cornwall. and dating DCI Nathan Withers. Jodie now has her own catering business and Nathan has sneakily put her name forward to be a contestant in The Best of British Baking Roadshow! A production assistant is found murdered on set and of course Jodie can’t help but get involved in solving the crime! Dividing her time between assisting Nathan and baking delicious cakes Jodie keeps a wary eye on Russell|Barbara, the shows comedic host and of course the other contestants! This could very well be the book of this years Summer! Great fun and I will definitely be looking out for Fiona Leitch’s next Cornish Murder!

This is a light, cosy mystery. It's ideal for a quick, easygoing read.

This book isn't the first in a series but it's easy to work out who is who and what is going on. It centres around a national baking competiton and the main character splits her time between baking and investigating.

It's a silly, charming and easy read. If you're in the mood for that type of book, then definitely pick it up and enjoy the escapism.

I love this fun series and particularly enjoyed this one with the added fun of a reality TV baking show and drag queen. The murder mystery aspect is always a bit ridiculous but that's part of its charm as a fun, light-hearted read that doesn't take itself too seriously. For me its all about the characters and not the murder anyway as I absolutely love Jodie, Daisy and Nana, and the dynamics between the generations of Parker women.

This is not the first title in the series but this did not detract from the book for me. However, if you had read other books there maybe too many explanations of past events.

The descriptions of people and place are good, with a very believable plot and sub-plot. I loved the idea of a murder being committed at a Bake Off or similar competition. I was immediately expecting poisoning and this raised the tension for me immediately. The plot, it’s sub-plot and red herrings were all wonderful to follow and were well crafted.

I did find the use of the phrase “this is not a euphemism” a little tedious. It was used more than once.

An amusing read.

This was such a fun read - I love GBBO-inspired books & this really hit the spot! Jodie is a great character & well written. I like that she has a police background, so she’s not stumbling into an investigation blind. I liked the interactions with her family & friends, although there was less of a focus on them in this book compared to the last. However, this meant that we got to see the baking show & the interesting characters and situations there! I thought this was a fun, lighthearted read with plenty of read herrings to keep me guessing.

Denuded of its step-by-step account of Jodie's cake baking attempts and juvenile toilet humour and sexual innuendo, there is little left in A Cornish Recipe for Murder. I enjoyed the first two books in Fiona Leitch's detective series but the later books have held my interest less and less. I think it's fair to say that I only read to the end because of my implicit promise to review it.

And yet... Although the plot is slight, it is well plotted. And there are some moments of great characterisation. Jodie, for all that she irritates me beyond belief, is believable. It's just that I don't like her! Her daughter Daisy seems very real to me too.

I know there will be plenty of reviewers who disagree with my opinions. And that's the beauty of reading. It's subjective. But this series is no longer for me.

Jodie “Nosey” Parker returns! For someone who left the Met to escape the life in London, she certainly knows how to get involved in the less attractive side of Cornwall.

This is the second book I have read in this series and must say that either story is completely interchangeable, no surprises there. The addition of the Bake Off storyline was a nice touch and probably the best bit of the plot.

The start of the book was annoying, the phrase “not a euphemism “ really grated, but once the smut was pulled back the writing became more enjoyable.

An easy read, but don’t think I will bother with this series again.

The gang are back and this time they have entered Jodie in the British Baking Roadshow - a take off from the Great British Bake off and things are going well for Jodie, she is in the last 5 and has a good chance of winning when one of the crew is found murdered and Jodie cannot help herself and decides to help out her hunky boyfriend with his police investigation and find the murderer...

This is a great story, it is told with great pace and there is enough in the story to let you just flow through until the end. Lots of descriptions of baking competition and the making and eating of cakes - its lovely

i liked the bits with Jodie and her family - they are sweet and show that things are developing both professionally and personally for her.

I liked this book and i recommend that if you read it then get yourself a big piece of cake to eat with it as you will need it!!!

I really wanted to like this book. Based on The Great British Bake Off I thought it would be a gem. A nice cosy (not cozy) murder. However in around three pages the author used the words babes/innit and discombobulated which was immensely irritating. Sadly the plot, the characters, the language were all, well, irritating and it became a chore to finish. The ending was a bit of a damp squib too.
